I'm very pleased with my new OfficeJet Pro 8720. it replaced my HP 7310 which served me well for about 10 years. The 8720 has very significant mechanical enhancements relative to the 7310: 1) The ink cartridges are accessible via a small front door. The 7310's scanner assembly was hinged at the back and had to be opened to about 45 degrees for replacement on cartridges. Force was needed to do this and a hinge eventually broke; 2) The 8720's Power Supply is built in so just an AC Cord is needed, not an external transformer/rectifier block; 3) The 8720 controls are on a touch panel not a complex many button keyboard, thus saving cost; 4) The front of the unit, where printed paper is ejected, is now enclosed and essentially armored, relative to the extendable platform system on the 7310; 5) The 8720 arrived fully assembled. There was work involved in assembling the 7310. The 8720's scanner resolution is lower than the 7310 but still fine for scanning documents and photographs. One should use a stand alone scanner for serious high resolution scanning of slides and negatives. At first I didn't like the trade off of higher resolution scanning capability to reduce cost but now I judge it to be good. It might even allow the scanner to be a bit faster. Both my 7310 and my 8720 machines have 8.5 x 14 inch flatbed scanner systems which I require for scanning fragile legal sized documents. My only serious disappointment is that the 8720's EULA says that the software for this printer may only be installed on one computer. I've done that. I can also use its scanner capability from a second computer via ***UnNamed*** SW, without installing the HP supplied SW on that computer.

Having used many printers over the course of our family needs, there has always been one deficiency or another after we got it home and installed. This time everyone agrees that we made the right choice. Quiet, efficient and clear quick printing is now the normal. Scans to our computers, flash drives and the ability to copy and fax with ease makes using this printer a relief. While it is more of an office item than some would think of for a home, it is well designed functionally and aesthetically. The size makes it easy to incorporate into any work environment. Plug and go as it connected quickly with little effort. You will not be disappointed with this purchase. Add to this the automatic ordering for ink replacement to your door and it really is an easy choice.

I love the large east to use touch screen. However, I cannot get it to scan to email!! No matter what I try I can’t seem to get it to work. It might just be me. This scans to computer, usb, and faxes too. The speed is fine, not as fast as the bigger office printers, but good for a home office. Overall I’m pleased. Not sure if you can insert manually for labels.

My previous printer, Officejet Pro 8600, printhead went bad. Trying to find a new one is almost impossible and if you do, they cost too much. So, I decided it was better just to buy a new printer than bother trying to fix the 8600. The Officejet Pro 8720 is an improvement and is faster than the 8600. I like the way the paper comes out of this one and no paper extension to pull out. My only issue with this printer and seems to be a common issue that HP has not fixed through firmware is that I keep getting a message that a phone cord is connected when there isn't. This issue goes back to at least 2015 when someone posted for help on HP and was having the same issue with an Officejet Pro 8620. It doesn't affect the operation of the printer but is just an annoying message that comes up each time the screen comes out of sleep or after you print something. There was a plastic dummy plug in the phone jack port on the printer and I removed that hoping it would fix the issue but it didn't. I was also hoping that the inks from the 8600 would fit the 8720 but not. Same size and dimensions but slightly different ends on the inks. Now, wouldn't you think that HP would have saved money instead of coming up with a slightly different design that would have allowed users with an 8600 still use their ink leftover from that printer? Please realize, and you probably already do, these printers are not made too last anymore. If you get two years out of them with about 5 days a week use, you are doing good. I will also say that it was easy to setup. Hope this helps!

It's a bit oversized.. but it does everything I need it to. Very easy to install. Fast printer/scanner.. Excellent price. Very satisfied with the purchase.

I use this printer in my office. Installed easily. Have not had any paper jams. Love all the features. Prints pictures well. Scans easily to the computer. Have yet to run out of ink though I print several pages a day. Great value for a printer.

We've used HP printers for our home office for years. The 8720 has multiple functions, easy-to-understand instructions on its screen, and plenty of ways to print, copy and scan. Easy, easy to set up - we're wireless and have 2 computers and 2 devices communicating with it. It's got more stuff than we'll ever use. And, it's got a feature of copying two-sided ID cards so both sides of the card are on the face of one sheet. This is new to us with this copier. Price was right. Overall, we made an excellent choice.

I love my new HP 8720 printer. It is quiet, fast, easy to install and use. The print quality is exceptional in either color or black and white. I have nothing negative to say about this printer and and very pleased with this purchase.

I made the mistake and bought an Epson printer a couple years ago. It turned out to be the worst printer I've ever owned. I recently picked up a new client and could justify buying a new printer. While I was looking at the printers, an HP rep approached me and asked if he could show me their newest printer. I've always had good experiences with HP printers. If not for the Epson fiasco, I would have been upgrading an HP printer, so I let him go through his spiel. I was a little concerned that this was a brand new printer, totally different look and works differently than some of the other printers. But it sure looked nice. He said he could take a picture from my cell phone and print it out, so I let him, expecting the same garbage photo printing that I'd become accustomed to with that other printer. I was happily surprised by the speed and quality of the picture that came out. It was a full letter size with no borders and looked exceptional on the "normal" quality setting. So, I took a chance on an HP printer and so far, it's the best printer I've had since my last HP printer that lasted about 10 years.

The printer was easy to setup right out of the box. Followed the included instructions and was printing within an hour. It can be kind of noisy when printing high quantity jobs, but that can be fixed by going into the settings.

We opted to replace our HP8600 Pro which was and still is an excellent printer. The 8720 has a smaller footprint which allows us to close the closet door, something the 8600 did not. The design is much nicer in that the output bin is actually part of the printer and not a flimsy pull out shelf - very nice! Print quality is spot on, fast and quieter than the 8600. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because setting up the wireless portion was a pain, it would work and then not work in just a few minutes. Then once the connection seemed stable we rocked right along until we added a new computer. All existing computers reverted to the 8600 which is a backup and lost the 8720 as the default. It gets easier to set up after you have to do it so many times. Hopefully HP can get the problem corrected for good soon!

I love this printer! We got it on sale and it was one of the best decisions we've made for the technology in our home. It is rather large, so if you don't have space it is not recommended. But if you have space and want a sturdy printer with lots of perks, this one is excellent! It is fast, print quality is amazing (from regular black and white drafts to high quality photo printing), and easy to use. Wireless printing and HP's easy software really make it worth the money!

Love this printer. It us extremely fast printing and scanning. Software extremely intuitive and works well. It is a large footprint printer so take that into account if purchasing for home use.

I read some reviews (trusted sources) of this printer and it got great reviews. When Best Buy had it on sale for 1/3 off, I had to grab one. I was a bit put off by the size and weight of the box. (I did not pay attention to that spec but was expecting something smaller/lighter from the online pictures). That said, unpacking and setting up the printer was a snap (although I did have issues downloading the MacOS drivers). By comparison, a Brother laser printer that I have failed to maintain the wifi connection; this HP remains stable on my wireless network. Print speed, quality, etc. are all good, as the reviews had said. One thing that I was bothered by was that while I was setting up the printer, I came across an instruction that "once installed and set up the printer should not be moved". That will be a major inconvenience when I move next year as I am planning to do. Not sure if the printer will be broken after the move or what I need to do to ensure that that doesn't happen. At any rate, I am perfectly happy with the printer but afraid to move it.

So far so good! It prints good quality images but haven’t tried printing photos. It’s really easy to use and print fast. And I got a good deal for the ink monthly payments under HP ink.

After working with slow printers where you have to wait for each copy, and cross your fingers hoping the scanner will work, it is such a relief to have a fast, reliable printer. I like the fact that it will copy on both sides of the paper without having to manually turn over the pages. It also has lots of room for paper so you don't need to constantly be refilling the paper compartment. I also like the wireless feature, and the fact that you can set it up to have its own email address so you or designated others can print something off the printer from a remote location. So far I am very happy with this printer and glad that I bought it.

Operation of this printer is very intuitive and early performance suggests it will be very reliable. I like that it scans to PDF and JPEG (I use PDF mostly) and love the two-sided operations, which seem to work well. I haven't used the fax feature and don't plan to. I was using one older printer for scanning (would not print) and one for printing (would not scan), so this thing is a big relief and much more efficient.

Very reliable. Rarely have paper jams. Holds about an entire ream of paper, which makes for less refills. Easy wireless printing. Included software is convenient and easy to use.

I own, and have owned several HP printers. I have come to expect quality from HP and this produce delivers. The only negative is the drum is noisier while scanning than the HP this multi function replaced.

I researched many printers and compared reviews, prices, options, etc. I kept coming back to this printer. It is easy to use, does a great job, and I’d buy it again.
