High End Printer That Blends in with Daily Life

Ease of use, Office, Print quality

Printer’s are a necessary evil for home life and can be difficult to work with. This HP 9015 Printer really breaks that mold by being so easy to use that it doesn’t feel like a nuisance to use! PROS: - The Printer is very well designed! I like the white/gray design and although it has a lot of features, it still feels compact and just blends in with your home or office by not being an eyesore. - Setting up was very easy! After turning on and putting the ink in, I used the HP Smart App from my iPad. This App made it very smooth and easy to use. Very happy with the setup! - After setting up, this printer is easily accessible through WiFi from any Windows 10 computer as well as my phone/iPad with the HP Smart App. So printing/scanning was very easy after that! - To be clear: you do not NEED the HP Smart App to print from a mobile device. I was able to print over WiFi with my iPad Pro without using the App. So you can print without the app but using other features via a mobile device you need the HP Smart App. - Can confirm this printer prints double sided!! Nice feature! - Overall it has a lot of nice features needed for a home/office printer. Print’s fast with no errors, scanner, and copier. It will be very useful. CONS: - I like how everything is wireless but if for some reason you wanted a hard connection (which you can do), you would have to buy the cord separately . The Printer only comes with Power Cord and Ink. - I can’t think of many. For the price it takes care of everything I need. BOTTOM LINE: For my uses, this printer hits everything on the head. It’s ease of use is truly great and makes printing/scanning a seamless process.

    Feature packed all-in-one, great performance

I am coming from a Brother printer that is pushing 10 years old at this point. It held up well over time but I was due for a more modern upgrade. Initial setup of this HP Officejet Pro was quick and easy. The mobile application and Windows HP Smart software was easy to use, and I had my printer connected to my wireless network and Google Drive in minutes. Prints are crisp, clear, and fast. I also noticed that this unit works fairly quietly, which is nice. Scanning features are great, and easy to perform with the mobile app, save as a pdf, and email without having to use a computer. The computer software is also full-featured, but it is convenient to control everything from a phone in front of the printer as well. Options and settings can be changed on the fly without walking back and forth to your computer. The touchscreen interface on the printer is quick and easy, reminds me of an older Android phone, it works well. Overall I am happy with this printer and would recommend it to anyone running a small business, or just needs a step up in quality and features for overall home use.

I bought this all in one printer when it became difficult to buy ink for my last printer. Installation is easy, paper jams are easy to clear, prints clearly and quickly, scans better than my last printer.

The printer is nicely designed and prints fine. However, there are software issues. When you try to scan from the feeder and use the printer's display to scan, it does not work. It scans and either sends the scan to a "Black hole"...where you cannot find the scan or it fails to scan. It does work through the software, but it's easier to use the printer's display to scan and this is how it is supposed to work. Additionally, I have tried to connect the printer with a USB cable and it cannot make a connection with the computer. It worked fine with my previous HP 8710 which is quite similar to the 9015. I have spent a couple of hours with HP support who could not figure it out....They said it was a "Known issue". This printer has been out for a while now... See enclosed images with the errors...

    Office, Scanning

The HP Officejet Pro 9015 is a great all around printer for home use, though I doubt it's full suite of features would be used in an office environment. The smart app with tasks is great for organizing your printed info, it sends the printed material in an email to you. Everything is accessible from your phone and the UI is very straight forward. It does a great job scanning and emailing PDFs. I had some issues printing 2 sided material; the bottom corner of the page left a smudge from the feed wheel on both flyers granted they were color intensive, but never seen on other printers. A nice printer for most normal tasks and with the help of the HP Smart app, a few more neat tricks. I'm not buying into the instant ink subscription because it's a subscription and something to plan to pay. There are many options and if you only do up to 15 pages a month, it's free. If you do a plan and forget to pay, they disable your printer until you do. So it's great for small offices who will use it frequently and not have to worry about the hassle of going out to buy more ink, saving money in the process.

      Hi, Khris.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer is not working like it should. I can understand how seeing print jobs show up several days after sending them to the printer would be confusing as well as frustrating, so I’ll offer some resources and information I hope will help.

I can’t tell from your review who your printer isn’t functioning properly, so I suggest you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation. To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

I simple love it all. Its stylish. A bit bigger than I hope but smaller that similar ones which is a great asset. Has a feeder/ paper storage so no need to worry about loading the paper. I have printed both in color and black and white and printed equally great. I havent had a chance to us the fax but I have faith that it will not disappoint me. The screen is small but big enough to see clearly what functions you are choosing or where you are at. I have been printing mailing labels and the barcodes have come out great and very clear. Copying just as well

Excellent All-In-One - Ink plan not necessary

    Posted .
    Pros mentioned:
Ease of use, Office, Print quality

Thee are two parts to this review. The first part is about the printer itself, how it functions, its hardware, and its overall quality. The second part is about HP’s new Instant Ink replacement subscription plan. The plan may not be for everyone. Fortunately, if you want the printer because of its features and functionality, you can choose to buy replacement ink cartridges from any store as needed. Part 1. This is a well-functioning, good quality, and sleek looking all-in-one. This model is replacing another HP All-In-One (OfficeJet 7310) that’s been my office printer for the last 15 years. It’s almost unfair to compare the two because the new model runs smoother and is so much faster. The printing output was sharp and clean. This is expected when using HP certified ink cartridges. The fax portion works as usual. And the copy and scanning functions work efficiently. I was particularly interested in how well the scanning features work on this model. I was pleased to see that the scanner could copy a double-sided document and send it to the computer in a well put together PDF. I do a lot of scanning, so I wanted to make sure this process was fast and easy; it was. Just an FYI, this model (9015) does have a duplex scanner built into the automatic document feeder (ADF), but it accomplishes the scanning of both sides by passing the document over the scanner twice. It’s a seamless process, but I believe it’s different from the next model up. The higher model can scan both sides of a document with a single pass. Both models produce the same result, just the higher model saves a few seconds by using dual scanner heads to scan the front and back at the same time. Not a deal breaker for me, but this small difference may be of importance to others depending on the use or application of the scanner. Like the scanning process, this machine easily produces quick double-sided copies when needed. To accomplish this, you can either use the handy, but small touch screen located on the front of the printer, or on your desktop by downloading HP’s Smart printer application from the Microsoft store. The installation of the program was quick, and it contains easy to use options to print, copy, scan, fax all from within the computer. As I mentioned before, the same functions can also be accessed from the color touch screen attached to the printer. Installation and setup were easy. Again, this can be accomplished using the HP Smart application or for those who prefer to setup this printer using their cell phone, that option is available too. To do so, you download the HP Smart app on your phone and follow the steps to connect your printer. I should note here that the Smart HP app does contain similar functionality as the desktop version of the app, but some advanced features are missing. For example, you can initiate a scan from within the phone app, but the ability to scan both sides was not available. Whereas, this feature is easily found on the desktop version of the app. The good news is, these inconsistencies can eventually be fixed with an update to the phone app if HP chooses to do so in the future. My final note about the printer itself, has to do with its style/looks. It’s a very modern and clean looking all-in-one. While looks may not be at the top of people’s minds when looking for an all-in-one, this model will definitely look good sitting on your desk or out in an open area. It’s minimalist design, and clean white panels with squared edges add to a professional office or environment. Part 2. This printer is being advertised as an “Instant Ink Ready Printer.” What that label is telling you is that this printer has the ability to work with HP’s new automatic ink ordering subscription program. Rather than buying ink when you run out, HP now offers a subscription service that includes ink, shipping, and recycling for a monthly fee. Depending on how much you use your printer, this may or may not be a beneficial program for you. There are various subscription levels that cost as low as $2.99 a month up to $19.99 a month for heaving printing. The main difference between the levels is the max number of pages you’re allowed to print before incurring additional charges. The $2.99 level allows for 50 printed pages per month, and $1 for every additional 10 pages. Whereas, the $19.99 level allows up to 700 printed pages per month, and $1 for every additional 20 pages. Participating in this program shifts your concept of replacing ink for your printer. If you have a good sense of how many pages you print each month, this program may save you money in the long run because you’re not purchasing individual ink cartridges anymore. Again, the replacement ink cartridges are included as part of the monthly subscription price. However, if you’re unsure of your monthly printing needs, or are someone who hardly prints, this program may not be suited for you. It’s important to note a few additional things. HP does offer a free monthly plan. It’s capped at 15 pages per month with the extra $1 for an additional 10 pages. However, the free plan is only offered on select HP Instant Ink printers that retail for $99 or less. So, if you’re interested in this option, Best Buy also sells these printers. Just remember, the cheaper the printer, the less functionality it has. And the quality and speed are a lot lower. If you feel you need a robust all-in-one, it’s probably best to consider this model type. Additional things to consider is, printing double-sided documents count as two pages. And if you end up not using up your allotted printing amount, the plan does allow you to rollover up to twice your monthly allotment. Meaning, if you have a 50 page a month plan, you can rollover up to 100 pages total each month. The exception to the rollover rules is the free monthly plan. Rollover is not offered for the free plan. To recap, the new subscription service sends you ink as you need it. The software on the printer communicates with HP to let them know when you may be getting low and replacement ink is immediately shipped to you. This doesn’t mean new ink cartridges will arrive every month, but rather the software determines when your printer begins to get low on ink. How does it do this, you may ask. I believe I read somewhere that the software calculates your monthly average and initiates replacement ink shipping when you reach half of that amount. Its goal is to anticipate your ink needs so you don’t run out. How well it does this, I’m not sure. I haven’t been in the program long enough to know. My guess is that unless you have an extreme printing emergency, the system will send you ink before you run out. And finally, if you do have an extreme printing emergency, you can always go to the store and purchase the same ink cartridges you’d normally get through the service. The 9015 model uses 962 cartridges. This line of cartridge is sold in individual colors (black, red, blue, and yellow). The standard size cartridge (not the XL size) retails for around $23 as of this writing. It’s nice that the individual cartridges are not as expensive as some of HP’s other cartridges. Buying cartridges as you need them is the traditional way of replacing ink. It’s good to know that this option is still available. If you elect to replace your ink the traditional way, you don’t have to signup and use the Instant Ink service. Any pages you print are not counted, and you are free to print until you run out of ink. Since you’re not part of the subscription plan, you’ll just need to purchase replacement cartridges at full price from the store of your choosing. I personally always prefer to stick with HP ink because it truly does produce the cleanest, accurate, and most vibrant colors for my documents and photos. This is my preference, but everyone does have different printing needs. I hope I answered all your questions about this new service offered by HP. These were the things I discovered when I began looking into this plan. I was really confused at first, but since I explored many of the details of the program, I figured I’d share it here as part of my review.

    Tray

Bought to replace its previous model, Office Jet Pro 8600, which died after nine years. The 8600 was heavier plastic housing, heavy duty paper tray with metal supports, an output tray that sat in a straight line from the print job being pushed out the front. It was strong and allowed the paper to come forward all the way out of the printer, sit flat, had a strong edge to stop the ejected print job so it stayed on the tray. A seven pound cat could sit on it and not break it. This has a a tray to catch the print job that is at least three inches shorter than an 8.5 x11 piece of paper and has a stop angled out and up. This means that not only does the paper stop not stop the page to keep it in a pile on the printer, but it allows the ejected printed sheet to shoot up and over the angled lip creating a nice pile of scattered documents on the floor. If the pages were not numbered, good luck. Tray that hold blank paper has no rear end so paper moves around and does not sit solid and tight to be fed. Print cartridge door is flimsy and doesn't fit snuggly.

I bought this printer to be able to work from home efficiently due to the coronavirus outbreak, and it’s a very good one at that. It prints and scans well via wireless connection. The only thing I wish was easier would be the scanning process. You have to open the app on your desktop every time you want to scan something. Maybe I am doing it wrong and have to explore it a bit more but this has been my experience so far. Regardless, it’s a great printer and serves its purpose well.

The driver install was a nightmare. It would NOT scan and the message said scanner not found. I uninstalled and re-installed three times. I was considering sending it back until I got online help. The tech took control and he was able to get it up and running, He was very patient, because it took him an hour to find the problem. There was a software issue imbedded in the driver which I downloaded from HP. I don't know if it affected others, but without the HP tech going DEEP into the system, it never would have worked. I do NOT like the fact that if only ONE ink cartridge runs out of ink, it will refuse to print at all. If you have to print something, and it's important, you will have to go to the store a buy a D*&*mn cartridge to finish your print. HP...you are alienating your customers with this feature. There is NO good reason to design a printer to do this, it just makes your customers angry with the inconvenience. Had I known this I probably would not have purchased this printer. My print jobs are too important to have to get up and go to a store so I can finish printing....especially when it's not even a color print and only needs to be printed with black ink.

After recently replacing the ink cartridges in my previous HP all your n one duplex printer, the printhead died. It was more expensive to replace the printhead than to get a new printer. This one has similar features with some improvements. The duplexes for 2 sided printing appears to be internal with no rear protrusion. It seems to be a bit faster and the quality is the same. You can direct print from an iPhone or iPad either thrushes WiFi network or directly to the printer using the supplied code it was on sale so the price was good plus by turning in the old printer for recycling, there was an additional discount. The only downside is that it uses a different cartridge (962 vs 950) so my almost full recently installed cartridges in the old printer were of no use. Perhaps some can explain why a new printhead is more expensive than a new printer.

Like everyone else I've been working from home. I have separate printer, scanner, and a black and white laser printer to save on ink. I decided it was time to get an all in one that printed a full color page faster than I could cook dinner. Pros: It prints quickly, ink delivered to my home, it fits on top of my book shelf and doesn't rock it too badly that it falls over. Cons: I have the wireless printing set up and I can scan to email without issue but this think will NOT scan to folder from the printer. Every time I try it says I have to install the software, which is installed so I open up troubleshooting and all the settings are set. The only way I can get the printer to scan to folder is to do so from the PC. Which it's just just as easy to scan to email and download it...so there's that. It just annoys me that it should work, everything else does, but it refuses to function properly. I've not called the help desk because it's easy enough to work around and it doesn't hinder me from doing what I need to do, albeit in a roundabout fashion. All in all it's still a great printer and I would recommend this to anyone who needs an all in one for their home office.

I bought this to replace an OfficeJet Pro 8600 series printer. As with each HP printer I’ve owned, the output quality is excellent. However, it was much more confusing to set up than my last printer. When it came to setting up the scanning to PC and fax functions, I actually had to call support. Although they were easily able to complete the set up for me, had the instructions been better written the phone call would not have been necessary. Finally, I would have preferred if HP had kept the all-black color for this printer. The light gray is going to get grungy looking too easily.

This printer was purchased to replace an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. Set up was rather easy. It prints, scan, and copies just fine. So, so far it is getting the job done. However, it doesn’t match up to my original printer. The first thing I noticed upon taking the printer out of the box is that doesn’t appear to be as sturdy as my original printer. This new printer seems to be made from lesser quality parts. The new printer is also louder than my original one. It makes clicking noises which sounds like something is broken. I needed a printer and inventory is low everywhere so I kept it. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Under usual circumstances, I may not recommend this printer to a friend. But if a printer is needed immediately, I suppose I would recommend it.
