I'm giving this laptop 4 stars overall. This really laptop performs very, can get a little noisy when playing games. But doesn't sound like a jet engine or anything crazy. It's also very cool to the touch and you can feel a little warm air coming out during a game but not blistering hot. I play Star Craft (mid level graphical game) and handles the detail and frame rate very well without any lag or throttle issues. So don't worry about performance at this price point. The laptop makes short work of video streaming in nice color. No fans kicking on either which is a plus. Any applications I run this laptop handles it very well. The only true con I found is lid is plastic and the lid closes properly but there is a tiny space where the lid does not touch part of the base. You can actually find the review on you-tube called HP Omen design flaw. To sum up the video you have to use caution with the screen and even more when transporting somewhere. Realistically a 5 star rating, if you can get past the lid/screen made of plastic.

I researched several gaming laptops. Asus, MSI, and others. I originally had settled on an Asus laptop but something kept bringing back to this one. I read so many bad reviews about this laptop and was really doubtful about it. I finally gave in to the inner me and I'm I glad I did. I love this laptop. It has performed flawlessly. I did upgrade the memory from 8gb to 32gb and installed a second SSD. You lose about 4 to 5 gb with Windows alone not much working memory left. I did do all my bench marking before the upgrades and its performance was excellent. I really like the design of this laptop. It oozes quality. All in all I would highly recommend this laptop.

pros: 1. I got it for very good price. 2. metal build. 3. 4800h and 1660ti perform very good. 4. good screen. cons: 1. sound from speakers is very bad and low, this bang & Olufsen is the worst. Presets in the equalizer are not configured. 2. ram is 4x2, which makes upgrade more difficult. 3. battery few month old, it has 95% full charge capacity, really? :) 4. top cover flexes strongly from little push. 5. fingerprints. Playing wow I get ~87 degrees Celsius on CPU. For price I got it > very good laptop, but don't buy it for $1,249.99.

I conduct seminars and webinars on Internet safety around the country. My presentations are fairly complex, and I also do a LOT of video editing. I have to have a laptop with both power and reliability. I recently had the display system on my 3-4 Year old HP ENVY laptop begin to randomly fail, both the screen and HDMI output, requiring re-booting to fix. This indicated it was time for a replacement. I was in my local Best Buy, just looking things over, when I saw this $1250 laptop on Christmas sale for $850! TAKE MY MONEY!!! Unpacking the unit I was impressed by the packaging and consideration of the user experience. SET UP was typical for WIN 10. The laptop booted at Warp Speed!!! I'm talking SECONDS to the login screen! Software load onto the SSD was also lightning fast. While it's a "gaming laptop", I did not buy it for the games. I just needed the sheer speed and power. I have run some games on it, but the games I play are older (like me) and don't push the envelope at all (Starcraft I & II, Sim City 4, Wing Commander, Steel Panthers, etc.). Other reviewers may be able to give game performance info. My video editing, especially rendering the final video, is SMOKIN'!!!!! The "512GB" SSD formats out to 476GB. After the majority of my installations (still loading Sim City plugins and a couple of utilities) I still have 404GB free. I'm extremely impressed about the overall design of the unit. It includes the best connections (USB A & C), WIFI 6 (Dang, now I need a new router!!!!), fast ram (DDR4 3.2Ghz), excellent graphics (nVidia 1660 TI + 6GB), and a smokin' CPU (Ryzen 7 with a Passmark around 20,000.). Great value for the money, even if you don't get it for $400 off like I did. To me the B&O Sound system is great, but after time in the Navy my hearing isn't the best for evaluating audio. The HP Support Assistant provides a good system dashboard, as well. Oh, and the light-up keyboard is cool, too! You can even select the colors of the various zones! NOTE: The RYZEN 7 chip, or chipset, apparently has integrated Radeon graphics. The nVidia graphics are the primarydisplay adapter so don't flip out when you see RADEON on system reports, etc. I STRONGLY recommend this model for POWER USERS as well as GAMERS.

Hi im coming from a HP Pavilion with a GTX1050 3gb and an I5 if you have a pc with specs similar I highly suggest upgrading because the GTX1050 is almost obsolete for modern games now. The Ryzen 7 and 1660ti combo will last you a good 3-4 years of gaming before youll want to upgrade. my only complaint is I wish it was running 2 8gb sticks of ram for 16gb of total ram instead of 2x4gb ram for 8gb total minor complaint but 2x4gb should get you by just fine. I run warzone and battlefield v on high settings perfectly fine,

Good Gaming/Work Laptop for the Price

Been using this bad boy for a little over a year now. Recently upgraded to 16gigs of RAM which is the max this laptop can support. I'd suggest getting an additional SSD as well as the laptop has two slots, one of which is empty, although I'm unaware of the max memory that this system supports, so look into that before purchasing any. A lot of online reviews and YouTube videos talk about how the screen bends in or flexes due to the indent of the keyboard deck but after a year of everyday use, let me tell you that this does not pose a problem at all. I feel it is done to ensure that the screen does not hit the keyboard deck awkwardly in case you place something heavy on it by accident. Battery life is decent for a gaming laptop. However, do not game on the battery as it leads to serious FPS drops and drains the battery like crazy. There are however some cons to this model. The edges of the laptop that face the user are rather sharp and its easy to get hurt if you're not too careful. After a while you get used to it and avoid it, but it took me some time to adjust. Secondly, if you know about the well documented problem of the Netflix App crashing once every cold reboot on systems with NVIDIA GPUs, this one has it. It can be really annoying at times, but Netflix works fine with the browser. All in all, this is a really good system. I got it on a Christmas sale and paid around $900 including tax, so I'd suggest if you're on a tight budget but want a good gaming experience, this is the one for you. But if you're willing to pay more for those extra frames, then go for the RTX series.

I build PC's primary in ITX form so i am no stranger this world. This thing has been a champ! For 2 months I had it plugged into a 1440p monitor with the lid closed. Primary for gaming. Zero heating issues, great frame rates. Keyboard has really nice spacing so i can forgive no number pad. All i did was add 8gig more ram. There is no hinge issue like previous versions of this. And this is one of the first laptops i didn't want to punch the mouse pad out!

With Best Buy $400 discount, I definitely think this HP ryzen 7 4800H lap top is the best deal one can get. It run very fast almost with everything I throw at it. I'm not a gamer so I cannot say about gaming BUT it's just FAST!! I upgraded it with two (2) Mushkin Enhanced Essentials 32GB DDR4 2666 (PC4 21300) Model MES4S266KF32G modules to 64GB. The best part is my 64GB RAM running at 3200 not their own 2666 spec, It's just unbelievable. It feels like a very high-end and high quality laptop that can cost $1000.00+ more. I upgraded the Windows 10 to Microsoft latest Insider Preview 21277 (for 2021 release) and It runs just fine. One thing I wish it had it's the backlit keyboard can be automatically turned ON when a key pressed and turned OFF after so many seconds of inactivity. The backlit keyboard must be turned ON and stayed ON until you turn it OFF.

I was looking for an AMD laptop with a good screen and battery life, but there were very few out there. This laptop is excellent in every regard besides for build quality. It was enough to make me return it. It is a little heavy and feels pretty cheap, not good enough for a 1000+ laptop. The main problem is the screen has a lot of flex, and when you close the laptop, there is a large space between the screen and the keyboard, which is not good for longevity. It is made of cheap materials and just doesn't feel good. I also did not enjoy the keyboard; the keys felt soft and it was not a good typing experience. The performance on this machine is a beast. I scored around 4200 on Cinebench R20, which easily rivals expensive desktop processors. This laptop did not run hot at all even under heavy loads; this due to the great cooling system. However, to achieve this the fans do run loud under heavy loads. The screen is beautiful; it is color accurate and bright and is easily good enough for photo-editing. The battery life seemed to be very good. I could imagine getting at least 7-8 hours doing office work. Overall an amazing laptop if you are willing to sacrifice a bit of that premium feel.

Very good build quality, keyboard is comfortable and I love the layout, fan is loud even for a gaming laptop. Fan/cpu/gpu control software is adequate but not the best. Battery life is poor but it charges extremely fast. Lots of bloatware but that is expected. Easy to open and repair/upgrade. The display is high quality and matte for reduced glare.

Just to give a perceptive of my level usage - I do not use multiple applications at a time so the 8 GB was sufficient for me. I wanted a decent gaming laptop that I want to use it with Full potential for the next couple years and not breaking the bank. I bought it for 850 during thanksgiving. The things that I love : 1. Screen has brilliant colors and colors in the games pop. 2. Very low profile gaming laptop compared to other laptops at this price range. 3. Variable Keyboard back light settings 4. Can look at the screen comfortably for long duration. 5. Considerably lighter in weight for the specs 6. When plugged in, I can game for hours the laptop still maintains a good temp 7. Fan noise is not unbearable Things I am not very happy about: 1. When I am not plugged in, the games are slow. 2. Battery lasts for like 1.5 hrs while gaming and may be 4 hours on regular browsing 3. Very easy to leave prints on the body. Easy to clean however. 4. The screen part of body is not very rigid. Has a lot of flex. So I have to be very mindful about using - losing a little of flexibility of where and how I want to locate it 5. No dedicated number pad 6. Sometimes I feel like I have to press in the keys a bit more than I am used to in my work keyboards and in previous dell laptop

Great laptop, excellent alternative to my desktop. I picked up on sale during Cyber Monday. So take that into account. The thermals on this laptop run cool due to the amount of fans and vents inside the machine. So if you don't want a laptop that throttles performance because of heat and runs cool while you game or render videos, definitely consider it. The Omen 15 doesn't have a num pad, which is nowhere near a deal-breaker, but depending on your preference, it's good to know. Main takeaways- It stays cool, as long as you don’t mind the fans Decent battery life 144hz screen looks great The keyboard is decent, RGB options are nice. No num pad. Upgrading the Ram and SSD is a quick and straightforward process. Definitely worth buying if you're going to be traveling, taking online classes, or just prefer working on a laptop. (Don’t forget to update those drivers! The computer might get wonky when you use certain Bluetooth headsets for gaming. It happened to me, it was only a minor inconvenience. Just be prepared for it. Know your way around the control panel for that. Or look up a video; it's an easy fix.)

I am coming from both a Razer Blade Stealth and Macbook Pro, I didnt know what expect from this laptop. My expectations were low since i have also owned HPs lower end gaming laptops. I was so wrong. This laptop with the specs it has would cost way more if you order it directly from HP. Overall the build quality is very good. The keyboard deck is full aluminum and so is the bottom panel the only part of the laptop that isnt metal is the lid, which you wont be touching all that often. Im surprised not many people are giving this laptop a try. Its great the keyboard has a good amount of travel and the battery lasts. The lighting is just right. The screen has great color accuracy and is 144hz which is great for gaming. I highly recommend you guys give this laptop a try. Its worth every penny.

It was definitely time for an upgrade. This OMEN laptop is perfect for me! My son described me as a "low-end" gamer and I never have taken any offense, but with this computer he declared I am now in the true gamer ranks! Speed is incredible. My game is WoW. I have chosen limit fps to 60 (!) otherwise it runs at 100 easily. So enjoyable to see the graphics of the new expansion on a laptop that completely handles it. The fan rarely comes on and only briefly. The only downside is that is has no number keypad, but I am adjusting! So if there are any other mature folks out there who enjoy online MMORPG games and who are looking for a screamer that is affordable, I highly recommend this laptop by HP.

Surprised my partner with this laptop so we could game together and to replace his deceased laptop. I must admit even I'm a little jealous (I use a Razer 15). The way the keyboard lights up with RGB looks great! And it's really sleek! Performs great (although I'm no PC pro). He loves it too! I watched multiple reviews for this computer before purchasing, and settled on this Omen. Being on sale didn't hurt in my choice either!

Overall, this is a well balanced machine, especially when it comes to thermals, which keeps components cool. There is plenty of thermal headroom to for the CPU and GPU to boost longer when needed. Paired with a 1660ti, it can easily play any modern game at 1080p high settings with at least 60fps. eSports titles can easily hit 144Hz, matching the display rate. Upping to a 2060 might get you more future-proofing, but the frame rate hit may be a bit much for the card. Keyboard is very good - responsive, quiet, TKL layout. Trackpad is solid and positioned where is expect relative to the keyboard. Only knocks on this after a few weeks of use: the very front edge of the laptop wrist area is a bit sharp, I would have traded the mini-display port for maybe another USB-C port on the opposite side of the chassis, I wish this was a bit lighter (but not at the expense of hotter thermals)

We love this laptop! It has rightfully earned its reputation for providing an excellent gaming experience. Of course it also handles other ordinary tasks without any trouble too. And it looks really cool, especially the multi-colored backlit keyboard! Originally (back in August 2020) we bought the next model up with 16 GB RAM and 1 TB SSD for the adults in our family to use. Then in December, we realized that two of our kids needed a new laptop to use for both school and gaming, so we decided to buy each of them one of these lower-priced models with 8 GB RAM and 512 GB SSD. Even with half the RAM and storage, this laptop is performing great and was immediately able to meet all their needs, so both kids (and the parents) give it a big thumbs-up! We've played both Raft and Minecraft on this laptop, and the difference between this laptop and our previous computers was immediately obvious and in fact quite stunning.

I bought this laptop primarily for last gen titles (ie: the souls games). While the GPU is kinda last gen, but still plenty powerful. I really dig the aesthetics of this laptop. It was a close call between this laptop and another laptop (asus zephyrus g14 which has a rtx 2060 max-q, which, at the time of purchase was $250 more). By comparison, the 2060 max q will get you about 6% increased FPS over the 1660ti which honestly is pretty close. Also, I knew I'd be sacrificing ray-tracing and DLSS, but seeing as those technologies aren't widely implemented in many games (yet), I went with the omen. Again, it was the aesthetics that really won me over. The keyboard feels great. The amd processor is super fast. The laptop gets a little warm, but so far performance and acoustics is just what I was expecting at this price point. I bought this on sale for $850 and don't regret the purchase at all.
