This is my first gaming laptop purchase so take that for what it's worth. My main reason for getting a gaming PC was for ease of upgrading. Many laptops, mostly ultrabooks, cannot be upgraded which limits their life. Every laptop has some degree of compromises when it comes to hardware or features, and for the price this was an excellent balance of performance and value. Pros: Build quality is above average, I/O port selection is excellent, screen has a stunning clarity, and there is not too much excessive bloatware to get rid of. Everything I have thrown at this machine to run it does well and smoothly. Advanced Optimus works perfectly. Cons: Touchpad can be kind of screwy but a fresh driver install fixes it, you can definitely hear the fans when the machine is working hard, battery life is weak, no USB C PD charging, and the power brick is huge. I've tried a few games on this (Halo Infinite, Cyberpunk 2077, and Red Dead Red. II) and they have all performed excellent on ultra settings. For playing games this laptop is amazing and really hard to beat at its price point. You get more than what you pay for with this machine.

It was a good deal for the price of $1499 instead of the original $1799. I wouldn't have bought it for the full price. It plays really well in games and I haven't had any issues with that. It acts a bit odd when trying to connect external monitors, but I think that is due to win 11 and not due to this machine. The touchpad is kind of awkward and occasionally while typing, it will recognize my hand accidently gliding over it as a touch instead of just me typing. Win 10 was built so that if you were typing it automatically turns off the touchpad, I'm not sure if windows 11 is the same way, but this seems to be an issue. I've never had this issue on other windows laptops only when running linux, so it's a bit odd of an issue. This is a huge upgrade for me compared to an old HP business laptop I was using before. My drawing tablet works well with it. Haven't had any issues with photoshop. The battery life is at to be expected with a 3070 in it, it's a little on the low side. If you are traveling and want a long battery make sure to turn the brightness off and switch the display over to using internet graphics instead of the 3070. Additionally, make sure the lighting on the keyboard is turned off and close unneeded programs. Doing all of this, I've been able to reach 5 hours of battery on this machine which is pretty good for a gaming laptop with a 3070 and 1440rez screen.

Man this thing is awesome. Runs all my games on max settings and stays super cool. I've had almost every brand of gaming laptop out there, and they all run 85+ degrees on up into the 90's usually.... not this one. Averages around 75-80 degrees on most big games. HP really has their act together with cooling. Battery life is pretty bad but, I mean it's a gaming computer so it's really more of a formality. Still, would be great if it was a little better. Speaker quality isn't too good... volume doesn't get that loud, so I wouldn't rate the audio system all that great. Occasionally the touchpad gets all squirrely and doesn't want to react, but I've just discovered that using the fn key to turn off the touchpad then turn it back on restores its sensitivity. All in all I really love this thing and would absolutely buy it again. The price for all the features pushes it into the lead for me.

(HP - Omen) vs (ASUS - ROG Zephyrus) -3070's-

So far pretty amazing performance wise, i came from the (ASUS - ROG Zephyrus - 3070) honestly this seems to handle some games a tad bit better I've noticed. The best part about this model is how cool the temperature is while gaming it's awesome!!! few cons tho, like the keyboard is smaller than the ASUS (feels scrunched up) a little annoying, build quality feels less, trackpad isn't that good, and the screen is less sturdy. But all in all if you want this for gaming get it! (i would choose this over the ASUS - ROG Zephyrus- 3070 for gaming purposes). Especially this deal for $1500 as of 1/6/2022.

It's been two years, but I am still able to play most games that have come out in that time frame at close to max setting at 4k. The display is great and the keyboard is a nice touch. I would give it five stars, but my touchpad was stuttering so I had to turn it off.

Cons: 1. Can't play games with the charger unplugged. 2. You have to open and clean the fans often. 3. Loud fans, so game with over ear headphones. 4. It's another gaming laptop that needs better air ventilation. I prop the laptop underneath something so it sits up at an angle like the flaps on a regular keyboard to raise it. 5. I spent 1.7k and the warranty went away after 6 months. Pros: As much as I hate this thing, I love it. 1. They keyboard RGB is really cool, you can choose a color for each key and the reg presets. 2. It kills games. Everything looks so good, I have two 1080x1920 and its sometimes a hard transition after using my laptop. 3. It works

For $1500 (on sale) this is a great deal for the included specs. I was cross shopping this with the Razer Blade 15 base and the HP is just hands down a better deal. It has several features that you can only get on the Razer Blade 15 Advanced, which costs almost twice as much, (per-key RGB, SD card reader) and it matches or beats the base Blade 15 on every other spec and feels almost as premium in build quality. Battery life is not great however and it can get pretty loud under load. Would definitely recommend to someone looking for RTX 3070 gaming performance, excellent content creation abilities, and a semi-premium metal build for a great deal less than what Razer charges. I would suggest adding either Best Buy or HP’s protection plan though, the screen and hinge are plastic.

I really like this laptop for my use case. I use it mostly in docked mode, meaning it is hooked up to an external monitor, keyboard and mouse. I had the Asus Zephyrus G15 before and I returned it and got this one instead. The problem was when I was playing high demanding games on the Asus and it was docked and closed the laptop would shut down due to overheating. This one does not have any of those issues it is closed all day long and the temps are really great. Even when I throw the latest AAA titles at it, the CPU and GPU never go above the mid 70C. Yes the screen is not the most color accurate and the trackpad is not the best I've ever used or the speakers aren't the loudest. But honestly those aren't things gamers care about. They want a fast system, with good temps, G-sync and high refresh rates and good keyboard. This laptop delivers on all the fundamentals that matter to gamers.

Inhabe has this laptop for two years now. The goods are it has a nice clear picture, decent, CPU, speed, and the RGB lighting is really nice. And though I have always used a cooling pad, no matter the gaming, it has never overheated. Also the thunderbolt is nice, and the Video card will give you 60 Hz display on your TV which is pretty clear if you want a game from your laptop to your flatscreen. now on to the bad. After a couple months, the battery would not hold a charge for more than a half hour. After two days of fully charged and turned off and not plugged in the battery would die. HP said it does not cover batteries even after a couple months of purchase. Also, the touchpad is very jumping, no matter what you did, or reinstall the touchpad jumps around. I use a mouse most of the time but if I wanted to use the touchpad, it’s almost impossible. The bios is locked so you cannot access the advanced bios in order to change any kind of memory speeds, so make sure you buy ram that doesn’t need to be set in bios because yiu cant. Also the board doesnt resd the 3200 ram as that. Even new ram the speeds are at 2800ish. This is my first gaming laptop from healer, Packard, and will be my last. So if you want to upgrade ram, don’t bother, if you want steady touchpad, don’t bother, if you want a good battery life don’t bother.

I love the color and the way hp package this. I was debating between the Rog G15 and the HP Omen 16.1. I've decided to go with this after reading a lot of review and watched youtube videos. I was a little frustrated when I started up the computer. The temp go all the way up to 80 and 90 degree. The lowest it ever go down to is 67 degree for normal task. The battery drop like 1 percent per minute. That give me like 1.5 hour battery life without gaming. Called hp. They walk me through how to update the Bios and did some window update. The customer service rep at hp was very professional and extremely helpful. And he even set a call back time to check on me again. After updating the laptop, I got it to about 43 to 47 degree when doing normal task. The best that i can get out of the battery was 2.5 hours from a full charge. The hp rep did mentioned that gaming laptop should last for about 3 hours. The advertised 9 hours battery is for the best condition and best performance. It doesnt represent the actual usage. I watched a lot of yotube videos and did a lot of research. If you lucky then your battery could last 3 to 4 hours. Majority of the people get 2 to 3 hours. Gotta sacrifices battery for performance. I love eveything about this laptop but I just gotta bring that power brick with me. The ryzen chip will give a better battery life than the intel chip. I like the speed and the performance this laptop offer. The screen is fantastic when gaming. And this laptop didnt come with a lot of bloatwares.

I got this absolute beast of a machine open box for $1364 after tax, and I could not be happier! For this display, this GPU, this CPU, 3200 mhz memory, 1 TB of the fastest storage you can find, etc. you just can't beat this. I purchased this open box satisfactory and the box was in TERRIBLE shape which scared the crap out of me when i picked it up, but when I opened it the laptop itself looked like it had never even been used before. Extremely powerful machine! Biggest problem I've noticed is really weak battery life, but I'm sure if i turned down everything and switched it to only use the integrated GPU I could probably fix that if I really wanted. If you can get a deal like I did DO IT!!

I got this laptop mainly for productivity but also wanted to play warZone which is the only game I play. It runs super smooth. I’m not really into the tech stuff like temperatures and frame rates, I like to focus on experience and it runs warZone flawlessly and the laptop stays cool when you touch it. This is without changing any settings or undervolting so if you’re into that I’m sure you could get even better performance. The only negative is the mediocre battery life, I don’t expect to game on battery but for just web browsing but it seems like it’d only last a couple of hours.

First of all, of course the laptop is going to run great for all new and upcoming Triple-A titles. It is packed with an rtx 3070 that performs great, while also having a switch to turn off the intel gpu, so the power is going straight into the screen, without going through that bottleneck from intel - therefore you dont actually need an external display to see the full capability of the laptop, like most other gaming laptops in its price range. If you want comparitive numbers, the laptop can easily run 165 fps to match its refresh rate of 165hz on the highest settings in Apex Legends. This fps can also be doubled (probably can achieve even higher values) if vsync is something that you like to enable. That is also achieved with the HP Omen Hub recommended -0.05v undervolting offset. Which brings me to the next plus, the Omen Hub interface. Possibly one of the best additions I have seen in gaming devices recently. Probably going to have to look at the HP website to see the full list of capabilites it has. Other than very stressful games like Cyberpunk, this laptop easily runs high settings with minimum 100-110 fps. However like I said, this laptop is definitely not perfect. The main inconvenience with it, is the heat. Of course the keyboard is going to run hot as it is a laptop, but if you are buying it for strictly gaming, the right side of the keyboard runs hotter than the left, so thats a benefit I guess. That being said, the left side is still quite warm. Also the cpu temp does spike sometimes. Normally I run high setting games at around 65°C on the gpu and 75-80°C on the cpu, which HP says are relatively normal, and not stressful in the long run as HP also says that the cpu can handle temps up to 100°C. However at times I notice my cpu temps to jump to around 95°C. A restart of the laptop fixes this, it’s most likely due to a performance option I have changed personally, but just wanted go let people know. Also the 230W power supply received with the device runs incredibly hot. Not sure exactly the temperature it is under heavy gaming load but, I can only withstand touching it for 10 seconds before having to withdraw my hand due to a fear of being burned. Bottom line, the laptop is great and the specs are truly worth it, but if you are afraid of a cpu reaching those high temps then maybe looking into some cooling items. I currently use a cooling pad in my setup, and I am possibly going to change the thermal paste with something higher quality at some point.

Fast, powerful, and surprisingly beautiful looking. The ceramic white and silver Omen symbol is quite striking. Of course, I didn't buy this thing to keep the lid closed and stare at it. The processor, RAM, and 3070 gpu is unreal. This thing already smokes my Ryzen 1700 + 1070 desktop, sheesh. One thing to note, the touchpad is laggy, especially on the left side of my unit. Rolled back driver's to non-Precision drivers and it seems to be better. If not, a mouse it is.

This is actually the first gaming laptop I've ever owned, so I can't so I know that much about this field. That said, in terms of performance, it's been great so far. However, there are a few issues I have found so far. First of all, is its idle temperature. Without running any software at all, the CPU tends to run upwards of 50°C, which seems to be rather high. I suppose you could consider the fans being quiet as a feature like others have said, but personally, I think that just means that they are underpowered. The USB ports also seem to be slightly too tight. When I tried to plug my mouse it at first I thought I had put it in upside down or something. But no, you just have to really shove it in there, which is a bit of a concern, as I feel like something is about to break every time I use it. It's a problem I seem to be having with all the USB ports on the device so I'm fairly certain it's not just a one-off situation. The screen feels a bit too wobbly where it connects to the base, although that might just be me nitpicking. I will say that the plastic chassis looks really good but, somehow it feels somewhat fragile, especially the bottom part covering the fan. It feels like it isn't attached to its surroundings as well as it should be, and I don't think it is going to survive 3+ years without snapping with normal usage. And finally, the most egregious design flaw; the webcam. I didn't notice it at first in the images, but the webcam is not centered between the screen and the upper bevel. Not only is it not aesthetically pleasing, as such, there is no way to put a slideable webcam cover on it without permanently covering the webcam itself. As such, at its current price at $300 off, I would say it's a pretty good purchase, but at full price, there are probably better options.

I purchased this laptop just before Christmas. The specs looked great and I really liked the appearance. Initially, I was rather unimpressed. The screen seemed dimmer than I had hoped (compered to my cheap Acer laptop) and I struggled to install simple programs like Logitech G Hub. However, after a "clean" installation of Windows 11, this laptop has been amazing. It clearly outperforms my desktop with a 1070 graphics card, and - after using the recommended software - the speakers actually sound great. I'm not a computer expert, so I'm not sure this is correct: I initially connected an external monitor via the USB-c port, and I *believe* that this did not bypass the Intel graphics card. Alternatively, when connecting the external monitor to the mini-display port, I *was* able to bypass the Intel graphics card. I hope a PC expert will provide more information on this topic. Regardless, with a 2k monitor attached to this laptop, I easily get 165 fps (the max of my monitor) while playing Valorant and Fortnite. Definitely a keeper at this point.

Never been a fan of gaming laptops until after surgery and couldnt sit upright. At first I bought a Lenovo Legion 5 with a Ryzen 5800H and 3050 Ti. That was fine for the most part until Far Cry 6 came out. Needed better. I next bought a RoG Zephyrus G15 with the Ryzen 5900HS and 3070. Holy gosh dang did that laptop run hot as heck. On idle it ran at almost 70c and under load it was almost always at 100c. Yes, i know gaming laptops are built to run hotter and be near that but that is too dang hot imo. I looked for laptops again with a 3070 and stumbled upon Gem. Gaming wise, this is better at gaming than the Ryzen CPU and it is WAY cooler. On idle, this laptop sits around 30-40c range and while gaming I see a max of 80-85c. AMAZING. The RGB colors are great, screen looks amazing, temps are cool, and no soldered RAM sticks. Love this beast of a laptop and for the price (even at the original price) you cant go wrong for what you get. I would 100% recommend this to anyone.
