Customers value the strong performance and effective cooling system of the 16.1" QHD Gaming Laptop, frequently praising its capabilities and price. However, many express concerns regarding the battery life and some aspects of the build quality, including the screen and touchpad responsiveness. Positive feedback also highlights the GPU, RAM, and design. While some users mention bloatware, others report minimal pre-installed software.

First of all the white finish is amazing and the price to performance ratio is excellent too. Everyhing is really good the screen, speaker's, temps and of course the numbers of frames in AAA games 2k @ 100+ and 4k @ 60+ on high settings with normal fan noise. The only con i could say is the battory life it is mediocre. FYI: If your using an external display and want to connect it to dGPU the optimus wont let you. So diable the optimus in BIOS if you want use GSYNC on external display.

Excellent laptop. A total beast. Runs my games very smoothly and takes care of anything that I threw at it. I personally love the per-key RGB and the OMEN control center which allows me to set a different set of colors for different keys which makes my gaming more enjoyable. Swapped one of the 8 GB stick with a crucial 32GB and now I have 40GBs ram. I got it at $1500 which is definetely worth it. Best thing you could get at this price.
If only it came with windows 10 and not 11.

This laptop has been able to handle any tasks or games so far without any issues. The keyboard lighting is fun too although the app for controlling it is not very intuitive.

I have had this laptop since January 2022. It is an exceptionally good machine, especially given the price point. It plays games like AC Valhalla, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Elden Ring without issue. I also uses it for 3D design and video editing. If there is a complaint, it is not with the laptop it is with HP. Their gaming laptops lack the Battery Charge Threshold option in the BIOS that the business series laptops have. That should be a standard feature at this point. Other than that, it is the best machine I have ever owned!

This is a great laptop, I can have 8 screens up at one time, and no problem. It's so fast. I'm a gaming beginner, so I can't give an in depth review on that aspect. I can say that there is no typing issues, and that the light up keyboard is beautiful. I know that I have a lot more to explore on this computer. Beautiful display! The battery did discharge once, I didn't realize that it was unplugged, so I'm not sure how long it lasted. I got a great deal right after Christmas.

If you are planning on using this laptop as a laptop, do not purchase it. The build quality is horrible and the touch pad will, not might, break. I am on my second touch pad and am working on getting it replaced at this moment. I am forced to carry a mouse with me at all times because for no reason the left side of the touch pad will die. I've also started noticing hitches when searching applications in Windows 11. I'm hoping that is just a fluke of Windows 11 and not the SSD preparing to die on me.
If this does not matter to you, then it is a capable gaming machine. I play a lot of FPS and RTS games and have yet to hit anyone that doesn't run at or above 120FPS. There is a second M.2 slot that allows for further expansion if you're a data hoarder like I am.
If you use Linux, do not purchase this laptop because their implementation of a BIOS mux switch is non-standard and will crash Linux upon boot. The only solution to this is to run in hybrid mode full time. I wiped the whole laptop when I sent it in for repair and haven't been bothered to reinstall Linux since this laptop actively tries to sabotage any enjoyment I get using that operating system.
For me, I regret my purchase. I've spent nearly $2000 on a laptop that is breaking down two and a half months after purchase. The fact that I could have gotten a similar laptop from Lenovo or MSI that I know 100% supports Linux, has better build quality, and is nearly the same price is depressing to think about. I wouldn't wish this thing on my worst enemy.

The experience I had with this laptop was very disappointing. After looking at the amazing reviews I decided to give it a try, but once I received it, it immediately started having issues. First off, it came needing tons of updates, and it performed so slow in the beginning that it was difficult to even download the updates. Once the updates were installed, the laptop worked pretty smooth when performing simple tasks, but once I tried actually playing some demanding games, it performed awfully. I checked for updates, checked my internet speed, tried tweaking some things in settings and on the OMEN Gaming Hub to see if I could fix the problems, and nothing worked. The battery life was also awful, it felt like I couldn't leave the charger for more than two hours before the battery got low. This would be understandable when gaming, but the battery drains fast even when doing simple things like browsing the web. I also had frequent issues with the track pad not picking up movement.
I don't think I spent enough time with this laptop to give it a full review, and maybe I got a lemon, but my experience with it was terrible and I don't recommend it.

Bit of a struggle to settle on if I felt this deserved 3 or 4 stars but ultimately settled on 4 leaning towards maybe my unit is a fluke and waited to review some more time using it. Got this to replace an F15 Asus and the things this does compared to it are amazing. Much better screen, much better temperature management, and the 3070 is a much more legitimate laptop version (runs around 95w not the 65w power in the F15). All that said, I wanted to love - and mostly do - it but it does have some quirks. Have had moments of just seizing up, inconsistent touchpad control, and the backlit keyboard seems to have a mind of its own about when it chooses to work. Really those are minor but reminds me of a prior laptop where it was the beginning signs of an eventual motherboard failure which is discouraging to see day 1 on a laptop especially something not bottom tier gaming and carrying a known brand name. Battery life is one of the worst I've encountered as well - been off charger for 30 mins and at half battery just web browsing. But given its a gaming laptop I'd say touchpad and battery issues are likely not noticed by most since they're using a mouse and always plugged up. The potential of this thing really is 5 stars and I love it way more than the Asus, just wish it had the quality of performance to match its potential. I boxed up my F15 and returned it within hours so this really is a much better unit even with the quirks mine has.

I bought an MSI 15 2 weeks ago with a rx 6700m and was totally gappy with it, then I saw this one the other day and decided to buy it and try it out. I returned the MSI 15...The Omen 16 is a great powerdul laptop. The RTX3070 runs everything I throw at it with max settings! I would reccomend this to anyone getting back into pc gaming

This laptop runs very smooth. It's very well equipped and will run anything effortlessly. The only issue I have with it so far is its battery life. Even on the lowest setting with brightness, performance, and battery plan it seems to drain pretty quickly but it is easily fixable with a software update that I am hoping HP will release soon. Also my battery seems to charge to only 99% but it doesn't really affect anything. Other than that the laptop offers excellent value for its price.

Love this machine. Works perfectly. The 1440p screen is amazing and the advanced Optimus let’s you disable the integrated graphics. Fan noise is much better than what you get with Lenovo or Razer. No high pitched whine. Keyboard is solid but has slight flex. Only thing I would change is the screen does have some wobble , but it’s such a minor thing . Overall this is a beast of a laptop and I am so happy that I purchased it.

Nice machine! Fast, sleek, efficient and upgradable. It came with 16gb Ram but I upgraded to 32gb and put the supercharger on it. Works, runs, starts up great. No issues as of yet. There is an extra slot in the board for a potential HD addition but I do not know if its capable as of yet.

Best value when you can catch it on sale. 3070 2k with i7... Keeps cool most of time even when you drive it hard on Video games... I didn't have to adjust anything... Comes with nvidia Optimus (auto mux) can disable if desired... and high refresh panel that is very clear. Wished it did have a num pad but that is a minor issue. Better than current alienware with same specs.. (at a much better price -HP)

There are some things to like about this laptop. It's powerful, and not loaded up with bloatware. It's a good value for the price with one major exception. The touchpad on this thing is garbage. There is a known issue where the touchpad occasionally goes flaky and can only be corrected by deleting and reinstalling the drivers or shutting off the touchpad (fn+F11) and turning it back on again. I spent hours on chat with support (twice) and this problem keeps coming back. I find this type of thing inexcusable since touchpads are hardly a new technology. It seems that HP could have spent a little time fixing this issue. If you do a search, you will see this issue all over the internet. This Laptop is so close to being great, but a simple thing like a touchpad not operating correctly is inexcusable. That is why I am returing this laptop and looking for another option.

Very nice screen maybe the only defect is that is not as bright as the newest ones, but the pixel density is great, especially for work.
While not gaming is silent.
The battery life is not great but it is to be expected from a gaming laptop.
