Customers are saying

Customers value the strong performance and effective cooling system of the 16.1" QHD Gaming Laptop, frequently praising its capabilities and price. However, many express concerns regarding the battery life and some aspects of the build quality, including the screen and touchpad responsiveness. Positive feedback also highlights the GPU, RAM, and design. While some users mention bloatware, others report minimal pre-installed software.

This is a really nice laptop and the gaming on it has been great. I did have some issues in the beginning because it took nearly 5-6 hours to get it updated and not running like snail. I had to initiate the updates myself as it seemed to think it was fine. But now its running fast and smooth. I will say the screen is a little dim for a bright room, but it is a sharp screen.

The gpu on this machine works in the 95-115 watts range, which is not the fastest available, but it runs very cool and is way quieter that an Alienware laptop with similar specs. Great machine.

This is an intitial impression review as I just received the laptop today. Build quality seems great overall with a nice bright screen for $1365. This is where the excitement quickly turned into frustration. Powering it on resulted in waiting forever for the laptop to boot up and was sluggish to get through setup. Once complete, it sat at a blank desktop for about 2 minutes before it started loading anything. Obviously, this is not how a high end gaming laptop is supposed to perform. I started with checking installed apps and in true HP fashion, tons of garbage comes preinstalled making this laptop perform awful. I was going to start manually removing all of the trash but figured I’d just reload Windows instead. I shut it down and timed the boot up. From power button on to logon screen took over 2 minutes so completely unacceptable. Reloaded Windows and after initial setup performed the same power on test and it now boots up in 12 seconds. Bottom line is, unless you plan to reload it to remove all of the garbage HP preinstalls on here to get it to perform like it’s not 13 years old, do yourself a favor and get an Asus or another brand that comes out of the box ready to go. I’ll update the review if snything changes but for now initial impressions are just OK.

Well designed and crafted gaming laptop that does not disappoint. From its super cool Ceramic White exterior finish to its blistering fast PCIe 4.0 1TB SSD and RTX 3070 GPU, you are sure to be entertained for hours. The QHD 100% SRGB IPS Screen is bright and vibrant with color accuracy. The two downward firing speakers are surprisingly loud and have some bass to them. Mind you, nothing in the MacBook range for sure but they will definitely fill a room up with full sound. When gaming the fans will ramp up however, they never get too loud and keep this beast in check.

Been looking for a replacement for our HP Envy. This laptop easily outperformed it and looks great in white. It is also very quiet, just wish it were a little lighter

Only had the laptop a day so will update if needed. So far no issues and was a breeze to set up. This is first gaming laptop I have had. Build seems nice and sturdy. No issues with track pad. I had an issue on boot up regarding too cold to use, but searched and found was a bug and HP had a bios update. Display looks great. Played Cyperpunk maxed out and no lag at all. Fans kick on pretty good but not to loud. Still adjusting settings to tweak out but so far loving it. Highly recommend especially if can get for $1599 or less.

Overall very good, beautiful outlook and powerful performance. And more importantly it was in stock. A small problem is that the left and right sound channel was not balanced (different sound volume) at the beginning. However, that problem magically disappeared after some days.

Managed to get this on sale and open box at a steal of a price (under 1200). My first setup ran into some errors and required me to reset entirely, however after the reset, everything has worked perfectly and it has been fantastic. 11th gen processor runs fast with no slowdown or hindrance at all. The RTX 3070 in this laptop handles any game thrown at at the native resolution of 1440p (QHD) on this model, making it effective as a gaming laptop or connected to a TV or monitor as a pseudo desktop replacement. The only drawback I could find in this device is the overall battery life. Being an intel processor and NVIDIA GPU, even with the integrated graphics that it can switch to, the battery in this laptop is not sufficient to last more than 3-4 hours by itself. Though with the size of this device (16.1 inch screen), I anticipate most people would not be carrying it around without a charger anyways. Typing and navigation feel great here and the trackpad has given me no software or hardware problems. All around, this is was a steal of a purchase for this much power.

This is a magnificent laptop. It's probably the best gaming/content creator laptop that you can get for the $1800 price tag. Excellent performance, decent build quality, and a beautiful 16 inch QHD display. It's all you could ever ask for.

For the price this laptop is fantastic, but I was initially pretty disappointed because there is was so much lag. The computer took forever to start and then when I would type something it would take about a second or two before the keystroke was on the screen. After I looked into it a bit I found out two major issues. One is this PC has two graphics cards and it switches to the 3070 when in gaming but when I'm doing normal web searches or standard computer function it is using a piece of garbage graphics card causing major lag. The other issue is windows privacy settings are set to allow any and everybody to access just about everything that you do on your PC if you install their app. I would highly recommend turning them all off as your PC is constantly sending any information that developers ask for about you including keystrokes. Long story short when you see the major lag initially just open omen gaming center and set the graphics card setting to use 3070 all the time rather than switching back and forth.

This laptop is a beast. I put some GPU demanding games on highest settings and it ran great (Doom Eternal, Halo, Forza). Rendering in Blender is a breeze as well. I'm no expert but this thing gets the job done, with style. Most importantly it runs all the infinity engine games flawlessly.

When I first received the unit and powered it on I immediately got a battery error. I saw that it had been worked on in the service center so my hopes hadn’t been high. After the setup and a firmware uodate it went away, but started to freeze/crash when not plugged in. Plugged in the thing ran like a beast, but as soon as it was unplugged it crashed. Did a fresh clean install and still had the issue, diagnosed it as hardware issue and returned it. All in all if you get a good unit its worth it
