Customers commend the Omen 17.3" laptop's performance, graphics capabilities, and fast boot times enabled by its solid-state drive. The large screen size is also frequently praised. However, some users note that the fan can be loud and the laptop may get warm during use, while others find it heavy. Concerns were also raised regarding the amount of memory.

I bought this laptop from best buy and as soon as I opened it I was experiencing some issues, the computer kept crashing and 6 days later the speakers started glitching cutting out and then back on. Before I even bought the computer I got it Geek Squad certified that it was in perfect condition. When I took it back to Best buy about 11 days after I bought it I took it to a technician and they told me to get rid of it and get another computer. I didn't download anything and there was no viruses or malware on the computer. It was just a bad computer

After reviewing all the products, i went to this awesome laptop..they are newest model they have on the store. HP 17 w253dx. I have compared this laptop with my MSI GE72 Apache Pro but seems that this HP laptop tops it all from clarity of the screen, performance, has the speed and the design is excellent. Gaming has no problem at all, On sale at Best Buy for $999...Go crab it before its gone..It wont let you down.It comes with the new I7 7700HQ, Nvidia GTX 1050Ti, 12gb of memory, 1TB +128ssd @ 7200rpm HD.
This laptop wont let you down..Go crab it b4 its all gone..Thanks HP, well done job...EXCELLENT JOB

This might be the case with most Windows computers. Top of the line specs but it translates to poor execution the real world (rendering). I'll just stay with my Mac and save money until I can afford an upgrade.

Crashes ALOT - Daily Blue Screen of Death

After a few weeks of use my immediate reaction is don't buy this computer unless you like the Blue Screen of Death. It happens alot, at least once a day and sometimes more.
Cons:
Continuous Crashes with the Blue Screen of Death
Settings are often lost or reset (i.e. Desktop arrangement, Sign In)
No back lite keyboard
For the specs it has - still slow
Track (Mouse) Pad still sucks
Pros:
Its quite
Its cool and doesn't run hot - even with heavy 3D rendering
Relatively light.
I use a 3D rendering software program alot, as well as alot of excel spreadsheets. And it doesn't matter what program I am using, the computer crashes and gives you the blue screen of death. On the plus side, windows made the blue screen of death fancy now and more appealing to look at, but it is still unacceptable. The stop code always gives one of two reasons, Video Card TDR Failure or Power State Driver Failure. It doesn't matter if I am working in just excel, or even outlook, or in 3D rendering programs - It happens all the time!! If you buy this computer SAVE YOUR PROGRESS ALOT.
And if your organization style includes a detailed and methodical placement of Desktop icons and files; don't count on this laptop saving your preferences. Even after changing the Theme settings, once Windows either restarts or updates the desired desktop icon and file location is gone.
All told its a decent computer on paper but it doesn't perform. I will be returning so someone can enjoy this laptop on an open box buy.

There are a few things I don't care for with the Omen. If using a mouse, you will not be able to disable the mousepad. It is rather heavy for a 17" as well.

HP manufacturing quality not good. Should Recall

Laptop stopped working after power supply went bad and short circuited power port. Replacement parts are also not easily available. HP should recall this laptop for issues with power supply and power port due to the PC getting hot and the risk of catching fire.
HP Manufacturing quality is not good. Never had this problem with DELL & Toshiba laptops I own.

Had the laptop for about a week and I've had 2 random restarts. The 2nd time it restarted I got a blue screen indicating that the laptop is encountering thermal issues. CSGO shouldn't cause any modern system to have thermal problems. I did a complete wipe and returned. 2stars for the effort

Bad Build Quality, Buggy Drivers

This is not up to par for gaming. This ran very slow (before and after uninstalling bloatware), had jumpy mouse responsiveness (track pad and external Logitech G502 before and after reinstalling drivers), and the hinge feels like super-weak plastic. I'll probably go buy an Alienware or Razer instead.

The HP Omen is not a bad laptop. I don't think it is worth the money considering some of the other options and its reliability though. I went through three of them.
The first 2 had dead pixels out of the box and the third one blue screened at least once a day, even after my best efforts to clean boot and update the seemingly effected drivers.
The build quality was not terrible and for its price range and the look was actually pretty cool. The speed of the laptop was excellent. The internal specs ensure the laptop breezes though any activity. I am not a gamer and did not do many high intensity tasks on the computer but multitasking would cause my particular Omen to blue screen after extended periods. I am sure that a non-defective model would not do this though.
The speakers are awful. All of the Omens I got through this process had speakers that were shallow and made really high vibrating screech at certain pitches no matter the volume.
My criticism of this laptop is intense but this is mostly because my experience with the Omen has been wrought with defects. A properly functioning version of this laptop would not be bad, but not worth the money. I certainly do not recommend the HP Omen.

Just got mine a few days ago. All i can say is that for the money this thing is an absolute BEAST! Sure it dosent have a gtx 1080 or 4k but unless your doing vr you dont need it. Picture quality is outstanding fps is awesome on most everything ive played thus far. Maxed out settings and have yet to see anything even near or below 60 fps. Wow i got 130, overwatch around 100, americas army topped out at 99 (wont let you have more than that) battlefield 90. Thats all ive had time to play over the few days ive had it but im sure it will do just aswell with just about any AAA title. The build quality is great it lacks some of the fancy metal and flashy colors of some gaming systems but i think of it kinda like a sleeper. Sound quality is great for a laptop. Starts up almost as fast as you can type in your password. Without a doubt im very happy with the purchase.
