A Decent Entry Tower
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Omen 35L is a pretty good entry level gaming tower. This is my entry into the HP line of gaming products so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was interested to see the difference from my usual ASUS. The Omen 35L looks real good with its modern minimalist design in the Panda color of a snow white shell with black fan cover, the glass window to see the internals and the RGB lighting makes it gorgeous, even the included peripherals (mouse & keyboard) are in that matching white. It will look real good on your desk. Under the hood its got, 1Tb of SSD storage which enough to hold a good number of games or one CoD (lol just kidding), 16Gb of RAM is a good amount for an entry level desktop with apps and games loading up fairly quickly, its using an AMD Ryzen 5 8000 which is an entry level CPU as far as performance goes with 6cores at 4.2Ghz and can be overclocked to 4.7Ghz, an Nvidia RTX 5060 8Gb GPU which is pretty good for an entry level GPU that can perform well enough for most games at FHD. I tried it out with Scorn, Halo MCC, and Helldivers at Medium-High Graphics and 60FPS and didnt have issues, so I'd say its acceptable. Now the reasons it loses 2 stars are a couple. For one there was a random screw loose inside the PC when I unboxed it. I could hear it tumbling around and had to open the shell to find it, its just a small screw and I couldn't find what it held down but the PC worked still so its not a crazy big deal just a dumb oversight in QC. Another reason is that this doesnt come with any Audio/Visual cables. It wasnt too big of an issue for me because I've got a bunch of HDMI cables, but its also not like they're expensive so HP could've just provided one, its a dumb choice to nickle and dime on that one cable. Lastly, the UI/Gaming Hub is more Ads focused than performance management focused, especiallywhen I compare it to Armoury Crate. While the PC management controls are there, they are more like a small sub category over the majority of recommended games and HP accesories to buy. Overall its a decent entry level gaming PC, if you're new to PC Gaming or wanting to buy one for your kids (good for Minecraft, Fortnite, Roblox) then this is a good option to have in mind.

Good gaming starter rig with potential of lasting
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First thing's first - the GPU. The GPU is an RTX 5060 with 8GB of VRAM, so, going above and beyond 1080p is going to be questionable - you might get some acceptable performance at 1440p should you turn the settings down and turning on DLSS or FSR (or a combination of the two), but be advised, you will likely have to fiddle with things a bit if you want those high frame rates others talk about. Is the GPU bad? Not at all - but it's going to be limited to today's games and potentially those of the next generation, but beyond that it's going to suffer due to the VRAM. 1080p - that's where you should live with this card! CPU is a Ryzen 5 8400F - middle of the pack - it's not horrible, but again it's not going to win the derby for speed. Can it game? Absolutely - again though, 1080p is where you should live with this CPU should you want good/great frame rates. It's a 6 core 12 thread processor and the cooling from HP does a decent job of keeping it within the temp range that AMD deems acceptable for the CPU. The case is white with the internals being black, hence the "Panda" coloration description. Actually I think it's pretty nice looking, but that's just me! It has 16GB of DDR5 ram , which in this day and age I consider an absolute bare minimum - consider bumping up the ram to 32GB or even 64GB, especially if you're using it for multitasking. You'll thank me later! The RGB on the fans and insides is pleasant, not garish, and it runs without a lot of fan noise. The NVME SDD could use a secondary drive as well as that 1TB fills up quickly in todays world of multi-gigabyte games. My wife has chosen to put this PC in the state of "dibs" so she can play "Stray", which actually runs exceptionally well on this machine! So yeah, it CAN INDEED game, just don't expect to max out your high refresh monitor unless you're playing a non-AAA title. Definitely a solid entry into the gaming realm though without isolating you to E-Sports-only gaming.

Great desktop to start with in gaming.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As LL Cool J once said, "Don't call it a comeback, I've been here for years." HP has done a banger of a job with this one. I really like the look of the rig. Simple and understated for the most part. A newb is going to love the Omen software that lets them tweak the crap out of this computer. Now I am sticking this bit of information here because when you first turn it on be prepared to sit for a hour or so for updates. Bummer so don't think you are going to just fire this up, create a user and install Steam or GOG and your off to the races. The RTX 5060 with 8GB of vram does its job pretty well. I don't need any game to run at over 200fps seeming as though none of my monitors go above 144hz anyway. Now the 16Gb of DDR5 is going to be okay as long as you don't have a bunch of tabs open in your browser, you know who you are😉. 1TB of storage should be good as long as developers stop pushing these huge games. I would recommend picking up one of these but maybe get more ram 32Gb instead of 16Gb just in case.

Great Looking; Great Performance
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was my first HP gaming PC, and it didn't disappoint. From the moment I pulled it out of the box and set it up, I fell in love with it. First, the Panda Metal case with the glass left side is beautiful to look at and the RGB lighting when turned on of course is colorful but also highlights the internal components with lights on the fans, nifty vertical solid color lights on the memory sticks and 2 large round stacked lights on the face. Getting down to performance, the AMD Ryzen 5 8400F CPU combined with Nvidia's RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 produces high gaming frame rates flawlessly. I've read some reviews that panned the RTX 5060 but my experience on the games I play was nothing but impressive. It peaked out at 308 FPS and ran continuously in the mid 200 FPS with no problems on War Thunder, which is a fairly resource intensive game. The Omen ran cool and quiet the whole time. I never noticed any noise while gaming, and I was watching the CPU/GPU temps on an overlay while gaming. They stayed mostly in the 50-60 C degrees range. The sound system is outstanding. It's 5.1 DTS:X surround and I was blown away by it on my cheap 2.1 speaker system. I couldn't believe I was getting that sound on those speakers. I can only imagine on how great it would be on a good speaker system. The Audio control center allows for speaker configuration to match your setup and also has an equalizer. The gaming hub software has the usual stuff, plus advanced performance tuning including boosting the CPU overclocking the GPU. It also has a Light Studio for customizing the RGB lighting. The Omen 35L is equipped with a generous number of ports including 2-USB A 3.0 and 1-USB C 3.0 and a headphone jack on the top front of the case and 2 more USB A 3.0, 1-USB C 3.1, 4-USB A, standard audio jacks, 1-HDMI, 3-DisplayPorts and 1-ethernet, all on the back. This Omen 35L comes with power cord, keyboard and mouse, no other cables. The keyboard and mouse are nothing special, just the standard cheap ones you'd get with any PC. That's understandable to keep the price of this gaming PC competitive, as gamers are going to want to use their own favorite gaming keyboard and mouse anyway. You can spend a lot more money to get higher end components, but I think the average gamer would be very happy with this gaming desktop at its price point.

|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP OMEN - 35L Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 5 8400F - 16GB DDR5 Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 - 1TB SSD - Panda Metal is a nice size tower with a compact build that is not heavy and easy to move around. Updating of the system occurred automatically. It is built as an interchangeable shell casing making it easy to upgrade and change parts, by simply untwisting screws in the back of the tower. This is good, because most prebuilt gaming computers do not come with the option to change parts. It comes with four fans covering 360 degrees of all components, in order to maximize coolness within the tower. The RTX graphic card is top of the line and the most recent, but should probably have an AMD Ryzen 9 to equal top of the line computability. The AMD Ryzen 5 processor is a lower grade than top of line processors and kind of out dated. The keyboard and mouse are low quality and are not useable for gaming, but perfect for use with a basic home computer. A gaming keyboard and gaming mouse ought to be purchased. There is RCB lighting that changes colors. I find a problem with only having one HDMI port making a dual screen connection impossible without the need to purchase a special cable to connect two monitors. I did not see any frame drops, while playing my low end games nor my medium end games. I noticed some minor frame drops playing my high end games, but that could be because my monitor is only 100 hertz. I suggest a monitor of at least 2k to handle the RTX 5060 graphics card. Also, the RTX ray tracing shadows is perfect. Instead of going to sleep, it keeps restarting which I must research. The HP OMEN - 35L Gaming Desktop - AMD Ryzen 5 8400F - 16GB DDR5 Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 - 1TB SSD - Panda Metal is giving me hours of gaming thrills and fun with its great graphics.
