Purchased the HP Omen for my son as a Christmas gift so he can play Minecraft and Roblox. We are very happy with the PC. Easy to setup and get online within 30 minutes of unboxing. Hooked up to a 42 inch TLC smart tv and graphics are top notch for his gaming needs. Fav feature is being able to see the inards and color changing module. Definitely recommend for your basic gaming needs.

This is my first gaming PC and i was previously looking to build my own but this one had everything I needed for less than what my build was going to be. Super fast and I’ve had no issues with it. Looks really cool too.

Super good pre built there are some tweaks that you’ll have to mess with but overall for the price and what you’re getting you can’t beat it. I’ve had it for an about 4 weeks now and I love it tons of customization and and features that you won’t get bored of lol.

TLDR - This 35L is a solid choice for someone needing a midrange, ultra/high 1080p (lower to medium 1440p until frame buffer/VRAM becomes an issue) gamer. HP really fixed issues with some big brand gaming systems by using actual regular hardware! (power supply cables are standard, mounting spots for expanded storage or AIO liquid cooling, 2 open ram slots) Not the best value at MSRP, but a very good starting point for most gamers, and one of the quietest gaming PCs I’ve ever seen/heard! (make sure to set the RAM to use EXPO in the OMEN app to run at 6000 vs the starting 5200, free 0-5% performance bump, all of my benchmark numbers are at 6000) CPU - The 8700G is an odd choice, one of the few missteps from my perspective. Unless HP got a stellar deal on them, or wanted the “8” instead of the “7”, a 7700/x would have made more sense. It’s definitely not a BAD choice, just an odd one. It is cooled decently with the 4 heat pipe tower cooler. Performance is great, 17250 multicore score on Cinebench R23 looped for 10min, 2683single/12551multi in Geekbench 6. (saw mid 80s peak during Cinebench 10 min loop, but sound/noise is stellar) Since they did go with the 8700G, you’d expect to be able to run more displays vs the GPU’s ports, but for some odd reason, HP gives you ZERO motherboard based video outputs to be able to use the 780m iGPU. (the OMEN app DOES let you enable PBO, which I was quite surprised by, not the full settings, but offset and MHZ increase) Case/Cooling/IO - This 35L case is solid, great looks with the contrasting white/black. Would have preferred a separate lower compartment for the PSU, but the side panel does hide it a bit. You get 3 RGB case fans included, plus another RGB fan on the tower cooler. I was blown away by how quiet this system is, even at the “performance” mode in the OMEN app, like I had to put my ear up near the system to really hear it. Even with the quiet fans, it moves enough air to not have any thermal throttling issues with the CPU or GPU. (both get quite warm from my perspective, but not enough to cause issues) The case has an open top area for more fans or a 240mm AIO, an open 3.5” bay for an HDD, and the power supply has an open PCIE 5.0 power connector. (nothing is stamped on the connector as to its max power, I’d have to estimate it tops out at 300w or possibly 450w due to the PSU being rated for 600w) The case has 2 x 5GB/s USB-A ports, a 10GB/s USB-C port, and a headphone jack on the front/top panel connector. On the back there are 4x USB-A 2.0 ports, another 10GB/s USB-C port, 2x USB-A 5GB/s ports, NIC, plus the 3 regular audio connectors. You also get the ports from the GPU. GPU - The 4060Ti 8GB is a bit of a weird choice at this value tier. I would have preferred to see an RTX 4070, but the 4060Ti can still hold its own in most 1080p scenarios and some 1440p. It’s not a high end version, obviously an OEM HP unit, but due to its length and size, the included support bracket should be usable with many different sizes of GPU, and the power supply would be fine for a couple upgrades due to the 4060Ti only needing 160w (this was verified in HWINFO, peaked right under 160, never went over). The hotspot did get into the mid 80s Celsius after an intense gaming session, but never throttles, and stays quiet. Performance was as expected ; 3DMark time spy GPU score - 13445 3DMark Speedway - 3209 Black Myth Wukong Benchmark (1080p high preset, 100% scaling) - 68fps Forza Horizon 5 Benchmark (1080p High preset, no scaling/DLSS, 2xMSAA) - 188fps Cyberpunk 2077 Benchmark (1080p RT Ultra preset, DLSS Quality, no frame gen) - 79fps Battlefield 2042 online multiplayer (1080p high preset) 100-150fps - estimated avg ~120fps SSD - 1TB is very average in size, luckily the unit included with my 35L is a SN5000s, which has higher (not highest end) end PCIE 4.0 nvme drive speeds. The unit is a WD QLC drive, which means it could have slower long/large file transfers, but works great for gaming. I actually saw slightly better than advertised peak speeds, 6000MB/s read 5400MB/s write according to WD data sheet. On crystal disk mark, I saw peaks of 6386MB/s read and 5743MB/s writes. Haven’t seen or felt any slowdown in any game loads. Software - The OMEN app is a bit excessive, too many options and ads, BUT its also quite useful. You can easily run the ram at EXPO 6000 instead of the 5200 it’s shipped with, which is quite odd considering the stickers on the ram even says 6000. There’s also a bunch of other things, like changing the fans, the RGB control, and they even let you run PBO! (I did a quick test running 25mhz+ with a -30 offset, and saw a repeatable 3-5% increase, but I have a feeling spending some time testing higher mhz increase would see even more performance, but YMMV) (There is an included white keyboard and mouse, and they feel pretty much like the same they’d include with an entry level internet browsing desktop, so while they’re usable, most are going to never use them) Overall, this OMEN is a breath of fresh air not having proprietary power connections or motherboards (it’s a normal mATX board as far as standoffs go), its just a bit outmatched by other choices in this value range. Still not a bad choice, extremely quiet, easily upgradeable!

Best gaming rig on a budget right out of the box ready to go! I recommend getting a better gaming keyboard. The one it came with isn't too multiple key pressing friendly.
