Customers highly value the performance and graphics capabilities of the AMD Advantage Edition 16.1" Gaming Laptop, frequently praising its capabilities relative to its price. Many appreciate the ample RAM and storage, but some users note that the battery life could be improved and that the fan noise is sometimes noticeable. Concerns were also raised regarding screen brightness and the laptop's weight.

Great gaming option for mid-tier levels, but...

It's no doubt a powerful computer for mid-level gaming, but having purchased this computer in September 2022 and starting to use it in May 2023, I've ran into issues a few months into using it all the way up to December 2023. For one, the graphics drivers will bug out, just letting me sit at a black screen until I restart the computer. I've found that resetting the graphics drivers using WIN + CTRL + SHIFT + B will resolve this issue. I believe this is an issue when swapping between the GPU and APU between games and the desktop. Another issue that I've run into is the audio drivers bugging out. This became a problem after I ran Wallpaper Engine for the first time, where my audio is bugged to stay at 100%. The fix I found online for this would be uninstalling the most recent Windows updates and eventually re-installing them. I do not know why these issues are so persistent, and they're quite annoying when trying to use this PC as an every-day streaming and gaming laptop. May think about factory resetting to system defaults and trying again from scratch. If you're just looking to use this laptop for on-the-go gaming, it'll do the job just fine.

This laptop performs very well on games, but I’ve had the irritating issue of the wireless wifi not working every time I turn off the computer. This has been an issue since I opened the Box. I am going to have to exchange the laptop as it seems to be defective. Besides the wifi issue, this laptop runs fast, looks great, and has a lot of nice features for the price.

This is a great gaming laptop. I upgraded from a 2017 Omen 17" with a Core i7 7700HQ and RX580 8Gb graphics. So, I knew to expect a solid, slightly more affordable competitor to an Alienware product. This machine absolutely blows my prior laptop out of the water. I'm a pretty serious gamer, and this laptop provides a roughly equivalent experience at 1080p (90-100+ fps in AAA games) to what my desktop does in wide 1440p with an RX6750XT, which is great for cloud syncing my steam games and taking them in the living room or on the go without sacrificing much in the experience. It has a handy keyboard button to disable the trackpad which is nice for using a controller and being able to rest your hands on the laptop without errant mouse inputs. The RX6650M appears to perform almost as well as the RX6700M in many games. Fans can get noisy, but most higher-performance laptops are in that boat. It's not as noisy under load as my Omen 17 was, but since that was about as loud (and hot) as a first-gen Xbox 360, it's a low bar to pass. I'll say that the "screen wobble" many reviewers point out in Omen 16 reviews online has either been addressed in this latest model, or simply isn't nearly the big deal they've made it out to be because I've barely noticed it. I also considered the Asus ROG Strix G15 AMD Advantage Edition laptop with the RX6800M, which can sometimes be had on sale for about ~$1200 also. While that laptop ostensibly offers more performance and better battery life, it also has a slightly smaller screen, no webcam, and reportedly serious reliability concerns. To me, sticking with HP was a no-brainer. One negative of note is that while it's pretty nifty that this laptop is equipped with the newer Ryzen CPUs with onboard RDNA2 graphics which it can switch to for non-gaming (or battery gaming) loads, it means that about 800Mb of your RAM is allocated to it for use as VRAM, so you actually only get 15.2Gb usable RAM. Not a huge deal, perhaps, but worth being aware of. Battery life is better than older gaming laptops (my Omen 17 got about 2 hours) at around 5-ish hours, but nothing spectacular by today's standards. In short, if you can manage to get this on sale below $1200 like I did, it's well worth the purchase.

Decent enough to run Resident Evil Village, which is in part why I got it. That's the good. The negatives are: Fans are loud Battery life is terrible Built in speakers sound like a clock radio Charger is large and clunky Runs efficiently enough when plugged in, and I use headphones to bypass the lackluster speakers. Maybe a 3.5 out of 5 is more accurate.

I am in love with this laptop. It has 2 nvme drives for multiple SSD storage slots and loads of other things. I do game but I am not a hardcore gamer so this is perfect for me. I am able to play lots of games as well as remote play from my Xbox. I also produce music and this has been amazing for my content creation. I got this laptop on sale for $699 and thats about what I could afford and I am VERY happy with my purchase

The fan is nice to use on a tabletop. However, if youre mostly using it while sitting on your lap or a soft surface the laptop overheats. I've not been impressed by the battery life either. I will not be purchasing an HP for my next laptop.
