This prebuilt would only get 3.5 stars but I'm rounding up, that being said it is a GOOD gaming computer, for a fair price, especially at the time I bought it, under normal market conditions I would steer clear though as there are simply much better options out there for the same price nowadays. The real fault with this computer are the hoops you have to jump through to get temps under control and the bios is really bare bones, although not the worst I've seen as far OEMs are concerned.

Got this about 2 years ago and it is still running strong. Can play most new games and handle most number crunching when throwing datasets at it.
Downsides
- Cooling sucks. Recommend adding extra fans as it is extremely hot
- Instead of going to sleep it will just get stuck in a weird cycle and not wake up. Only solution is to just let the monitor go black and turn it off when not in use.
Aside from those quarks it is has been excllent.

Pc has trouble waking up from sleep mode sometimes, not a big deal i just changed the settings to that the display turns off but doesnt go to sleep and shut it down if i know im not goingnto use it for a day or more. Runs a bit warmer than i would like when playing graphic demanding games (around 78c) so i upgraded the fans and added another 120mm intake fan at the bottom and saw a 10c drop. Overall im super happy with this pc, best value pc with a 3080 in it that i could find.

This is my first desktop in a while so my thoughts may be skewed..
Everything is great about this prebuilt except for some of the default settings which is one reason of many why this runs hot from the beginning. Once you adjust some of the settings you can see a noticeable and decent drop in idle temps. The fan on the aio is not a fan that is made for radiator cooling so good idea to change it out. The back exhaust fan on mine started leaking fluid/lub back not that much just noticeable so good idea to change it out. Does anyone else's memory say 3733mhz on the back sticker? Back exhaust fan is 92mm, aio radiator fan is 120mm , front fan 120mm. New bios update recently 11/2021 but still cant activate xmp profiles from bios. LHR graphics card. Cmos reset is hold power button for 30sec and then power on and spam press esc before boot, once an info screen pops up then hit f2.

Been a year since I’ve purchased this rig and my son has been using it daily. Added more ram, 48 gb total now and more storage. Has had no hiccups and everything peachy. I found this on sale at a great price at Best Buy and snatched it up before it quickly was out of stock. The only knock that I give hp is the case size should have been larger or a larger exhaust fan in the rear.

Got this on sale for $1900. Upgrading from custom build with GTX 1070 and R7 2700X. The performance is great on this 30L especially compared to my last build, but the CPU temps are annoying to manage. While playing Apex Legends, temps will frequently hover in the 80s and sometimes spike up to 90-100 C. While this is mostly within operable temp range according to AMD, its pretty freaking hot. To manage temps, you basically have two options: 1. Undervolt using Ryzen Master and sacrifice some performance. 2. Spend $300-$400 on a better case, new mobo, and bigger AIO cooler and migrate the components. For now, Im managing with undervolting, but I will likely be migrating to a new case and upgrading the cooler in the near future. If the CPU temps were good enough to get max performance without thermal throttling or 90-100 C spikes, then this would be 5/5.

Reasonably priced way to get into a 3080 complete. There are obviously places where quality is lost.
-ram is very high latency and doesn't tolerate OC
-cpu cooler should be replaced
-cannot tweak bios
-psu sounds like a jet engine
-gpu itself is good. Decent cooling and quiet.
-cpu is plenty for any gaming needs.

Decent performance that'll play 90%+ new games with ease. However the fan noise is loud and overall system cooling is lacking, so it sounds like a jet taking off most of the time playing games.

As one other person said, need to listen to people who actually know. I have had the computer for 3 weeks. YES you can add RAM, I added 2 8gb Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 3200mz, so 32gb total. Runs at 3200mhz just by plugging in. Also, idle temps are 35-40 for CPU 40-45 GPU, in game like Battlefield V, CPU sits around 50-55, gpu never goes above 75. The machine is solid and and excellent value. Good look around. This same machine configured on HP site is $500 more. Very happy with the system. I have not had any issues at all.

This is a nice PC, and component-wise, a bargain compared to others. I got this as an "excellent" open box, for under $2k. It handled everything relatively well, however I didn't love the higher CPU temps, combined with a surge of jet engine fan noise.
I ended up returning it for the 45L 5900x machine, which has been incredible on the cooling and silent noise front. However, if you don't mind the elevated noise, or what to add additional fans to mitigate the temp spikes, this is a great PC.
Geekbench, GPUZ and Cinebench benchmarks were a little lower than average for the 5800x, but not by much. Gaming, this did great with 4k on Forza, Halo, GoW.

Bought this after searching countless hours/days/months for a GPU and not disappointed at all. For the price (it’s now $100 higher), it was a great deal. Great specs for the price and runs like a beast.
CPU idling temp is somewhere between 45-52 and 65-75 under load while gaming. While this might be worrisome, it’s not quite in the danger zone and could be fixed by outfitting the parts with a new case.
Overall - Very satisfied and would recommend.

My review is based on the whole hp omen pc in general. If you’re trying to find the best priced prebuilt with a 3080/5800x combo then this might be for you. It does need some mods if you want it perfect so with that said it isn’t perfect out of the box as you at least need to add some more fans and a better flowing case. I ended up buying but the more I looked into it, I would have been replacing the mobo, case, cooler, adding fans etc so it just didn’t make sense for me as I’d be in more $$$ to get it where I wanted so I ended up returning. The mobo is very limited itself so it isn’t ideal for the overclockers. Otherwise it is about the best deal you will find for the cpu and gpu combo.

HP Omen has serious quality problems

As of this moment, I am over a month into my HP OMEN experience. Here's the score 0/3. 3 Omens later, I am waiting for a 4th one -- hopefully it will work, unlike the previous 3 that have been returned.
Performance-wise, I was happy with the 30L Ryzen 7 5800X/3080 combo for sim racing running 3 monitors at 1440. 0 issues with performance. However, when in Sleep mode, HP Omen 30L would wake up every 3 mins, turn on all the lights, start blowing fans loud for 15 seconds. Then, it would fall asleep again only to repeat the same thing in 3 mins. If left overnight, it would lock up in lights on/fans blowing loud mode. I had to unplug the cord from the power supply as the computer was unresponsive to keyboard, mouse, or power button on the case. Numerous calls with HP and troubleshooting over a span of 2 weeks and long nights. Changed all the power settings, reinstalled Windows 11 from scratch, reinstalled all the drivers including BIOS did not fix the problem. In the end I returned it for an exchange. After waiting for a week, I received the second 30L - same exact problem! Did not bother going through the nightmare of the first 30L and returned/ exchanged it for a higher end model HP Omen 40L.
40L did not suffer from the same sleep problem as the 30L, but performance was simply horrible. Most likely hardware problem with CPU cooler as the CPU cores would reach 100C within minutes. Returned back to Best Buy for an exchange for another 40L model. Waiting for this 4th computer now to arrive.
While I am hopeful it will work, realistically I'm bracing for another failing disappointment! Will update this review once I receive and try out the exchange.

To start off, i got this during the GPU crisis so its price point was a deal to me, so your milage may vary. The components included are great. 5800x and 3080 are great parts to have. Where this PC suffers is the terrible airflow case which causes temp spikes and the proprietary motherboard. Additionally HP feels like they have something that slows things down, or at least that was my experience. The upside is that upgrading your chassis and motherboard are not too hard. I upgraded to a Corsair 4000D airflow case and a Gigabyte B550 Elite motherboard. The whole upgrade was $200 and has made this machine a monster, especially without HP software. Overall a decent prebuilt to upgrade and build around for cheap.

From perspective of a fairly experienced PC builder that decided to try this prebuilt due to the good deal it seemed to be.
Pros:
- On paper this is a great deal for the price
- Decent aesthetics
- Compact
- Upgradability is decent
- Prerouted cables for SSD/HDD installation to make it easier to expand non-M.2 storage
Cons:
- In reality performance/parts are not terrific. I can't seem to get consistent, good performance out of the computer. I tried overclocking the graphics card since it's been performing poorly but even with that overclock I was just under average performance, according to userbenchmark, and I started having the odd crashes despite not trying an intensive overclock. It's not awful performance but the parts in this computer are from HP wherever possible (GPU, motherboard, and HyperX RAM) so the quality isn't really quite there.
- Awful temperatures. I was basically forced to aggressively undervolt the CPU because otherwise the temps hit 80s by default; even with a pretty significant undervolt, the temps get to 70s due to the CPU cooler being about as cheap of a watercooler as you can get (120mm AIO from what I can see). Pretty poor cooling and it shows with the tiny back exhaust fan, the glass front panel with an ok amount of ventilation on the sides of the front panel, and no easy way to remove the front panel.
- Price increased by $100, I bought it for $1999 originally and then a day later it was $100 more. You can still argue the price for the build is good in the current GPU market but still unfortunate.
- I/O is alright but could be better.
- Too much bloat from HP. The "OMEN Gaming Hub" is how you can undervolt/overclock straight from Windows but it's still a background process that ends up taking up system resources even when you're not using the application.
Overall I am not too happy with the purchase and will be returning the computer in hopes to find a better one or possibly wait to just go from scratch for another new custom build.

Good looking machine; runs any game i have tried so far on ultimate settings.
CPU idle temp avg around 50C.
Heavy use(gaming + streaming + other media) CPU temp avg around 75C.
GPU temp 30C - 35C idle, 70C - 75C heavy use.
Will i add a fan or two? Yes
Do i have to? No
Pros: rtx 3080 & ryzen 7 5800x
Cons: making all rgb lights on the PC blue did not lower the temp, it does look cool though ;)
