My "coolest" headset yet!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The OMEN by HP Mindframe Prime Wired Gaming Headset presentation is superb. The box itself presents the headset as a high-quality product. My only complaint during the unboxing process is that there is no manual included. The insert has instructions how to access the User Guide from the HP website, but call me a traditionalist, I like having the paper manual to read. The black headset with red accent is aesthetically appealing. My wife's first judgement was “wow, those look nice!”. The headphones are not light enough to feel cheap but are not heavy to the point of uncomfortable. Well balanced weight wise, with a bungee type design for the headband they feel light while worn. This design allows for comfortable placement upon the head. These feel durable and overall comfort is fabulous. The unique aspect of these headphones is the FrostCap Technology. Simply, to my understanding, the FrostCap is a technology designed to keep the inner earpieces cooled and your ears happy! I often use over the ear, noise canceling headsets, even when not on the computer and one of my biggest issues is my ears get HOT. I find myself often feeling gross where my ears have sweat; however, with multiple different use sessions of these headphones I have not had the issue of my ears feeling gross. Now, I do run hot in general and my ears still get slightly warm; however, I can tell a significant difference while using these and without my outer ear canal feeling like a marsh. You can modify how much of the FrostCap cooling is occurring using the OMEN Command Center App. I turned OFF the FrostCap and could notice a different quickly. Have left the feature on ever since. The OMEN Command Center App was suggested in the included pamphlet. This Command Center App gives access to an audio lab, lighting, cooling, and other settings. The audio lab allows for modification of the headphone, mic, and sidetone. There is also an option to enable 7.1 surround sound. The 7.1 surround sound dramatically impacts the sound of music or games when turning it on and off. The only odd aspect of the 7.1 surround sound to me was while having open feed with friends overlaid. When I had a friend’s headset picking up them, some of their background noise felt more amplified than should have been expected. There is also an environmental noise cancellation; I personally had issues with this feature, where yes, it would cancel out the environment, but it also was canceling myself out some. There is also a 10-band equalizer that may be modified. Of course, as the typical "basic" RGB lover, the lighting section let basic modification of the RBG on the earpieces. I wish that you were able to change the "off" color of the microphone. The sound quality of these headphones was satisfying, and I imagine myself using this headset for a long time. I found that while gaming I did not have any issues between hearing the audio or chat with other players. A wonderfully immersive experience when using the 7.1 surround sound. I did not have any issues hearing anyone during meetings either which is where the most use has come in over the past month. Also, music in general sounds crisp and clear. I would be comfortable listening to music all day with these. Other things to note with general use-ability. Having a microphone that may be flipped up to mute is a fantastic feature. It works well from what I can tell while gaming with and chatting with friends; however, it still made me nervous to use it during meetings though, where I would flip the headset and mute manually just to be safe. Overall, I am very satisfied with this headset.

Cool Ears
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The headphones are pretty good but the main feature does do a pretty good job. The one downside is how big the headset is

pain i want to put up with
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. These are amazing. everyone other than me who has put mine on love them. the problem is with the adjustment. there is none. theres a band that loosens to adjust to your head but it doesnt work. it just slides down your head if your head isnt wide enough, causing alot of discomfort by squeezing behind your jaw. like that pop-y feeling when you blow a balloon wrong. Cant wear them for more than 30 minutes without it sliding down my head and causing me pain

Great Sound from a sturdy headset!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP OMEN Mindframe Prime Wired Gaming Headset has a nice, solid design, although not exactly the lightest. It plugs in using USB (Type A) instead of the normal 3.5mm plug, but it is needed to provide power to some of the features. The sound is actually very good, especially once you get the equalizer set to your liking. The earcups are made with comfortable, moisture-wicking fabric with the right amount of cushioning. They are the perfect size to fit around my ears. The flexible, adjustable mic flips up to auto-mute. While the other headsets we have do this as well, this is the first to had the end lit up when muted. You can stay cool with the FrostCap cooling feature. The volume dial is on the back on the right ear cup, but it is digital, controlling the volume setting of the computer itself. Using the Omen Command Center to make updates to the headset is easy. Change the color/display pattern, set the equalizer (10-band), base headphone and mic levels, turn on the 7.1 virtual surround sound mode, disable/enable the beep on the mic flip mute (or even disable the flip mute feature), and set the level of cooling for the FrostCap feature. It’s nice that the settings are save in the headset, so the choices remain in effect even when plugging into another computer that does not have the Command Center installed. While the earcups are probably the most comfortable of all the headsets I've used or tried, my only issue is the weight (it says it's only 1.17lb, but feel heavier than that) and the pressure it places on the top of my head (and I don't have that big of a head). The self-adjusting support headband is a nice idea, but not completely comfortable enough. When I put it on the very first time, the edges were really stiff (feels like a really solid rubber under the fairly thin padding) and just didn’t feel right. It has gotten better the more I've worn them, but still not at the comfort level I would like to have. Wearing a hat helps some, but not quite enough. I also tried them out on my table and phone (using a USB-C adapter) and they work great on both. The volume dial adjusts the device volume the same as the device volume buttons. I've used these on conference calls (via my computer) and it works great for those as well.

Does not fully work with the PS4
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This does not work with the PS4, fully. So, it will sync and be operational BUT you will not be able to regulate the volume directly from the headphones.

Works great, until you play fornite...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great headset but too many tech issues. Xbox party chat would work fine until you boot up fortnite and all comms go out. I tried everything I could think of and no dice. If you don't play Fortnite then these headsets are must have. Sadly they didn't work for me.
