Looks nice, smooth picture and looks good for gaming. The menu controller on the back broke only after a month of use. Pretty sad since I've only switched between hdmi and display port channels only a handful of times and now I can't return it.

Frame rate junkies only

If you are a frame rate junkie looking for an ultra fast refresh rate and support for Freesync/G-sync with a clean style, this is a monitor to look at. My review score is based on that audience. If you are not looking for extreme frame rates, I would look for a more appropriate option.
A quick note before the rest of the review - this monitor WILL work with G-sync as long as it is connected with display port to a 10 series or higher GPU running current drivers. It will not autodetect as a G-sync display though and it has to be forced using the Nvidia control panel. Once enabled it works fine. A future driver update may have it show up as certified as it is very new at the time of this review.
In the box is the display, the stand, a VESA adapter plate with screws (Apple, take note), a power cord, display port cable, USB cable, manuals…and a power brick. I hate power bricks. This one isn’t huge, but it’s really too bad the power supply isn’t integrated into the display.
I really like HP’s new super thin bezel design, it looks clean and this thing doesn’t scream overdone gamer rig. It looks super classy on a desk. It has a single RGB light that also has a “task lighting” bright white mode. It can also be shut off, which is how I have it. I also like the stand a lot. It’s minimalist and the up and down action is super smooth. It also allows for an easy tilt of the display. It does NOT support rotation for the display, not that you are probably planning running an ultra high frame rate display in portrait. It also has a spot to hang a headset which is a nice touch. There are no speakers, but there is an analog headphone out. It also has one DisplayPort 1.2 and two HDMI 2.0 ports. There is also an integrated USB hub with two ports, and hooking it up allows for control using the HP Omen command center instead of the menu in the display.
As this is a FHD TN display without HDR, you won’t get the nice high pixel density of a higher resolution panel or the color subtlety and depth of an IPS or HDR panel. This display has one thing in mind. Refresh rates. The panel supports an insane, blistering 240hz refresh rate. If you have the graphics card to drive it you can actually see so many frames it can change how you play. It’s just sooooooo smooth. Combined with the sync options to avoid stutter or tearing, it changes your expectations of what gaming can be. Colors and contrast are all fine on this panel, the viewing angles are pretty narrow though, especially vertically. I also found that going to the 3rd highest response time (the 4th option puts the panel into overdrive, stressing it) is important or else it ghosts noticeably.
Honestly, this panel leaves me conflicted. My other monitor is a 4K IPS panel that is 60hz. It is a much nicer “daily driver” as the colors and pixel density make it good for so many tasks. This display is focused on one thing and one thing alone – frames per second. Getting over 144hz (the most common speed before the 240hz came out) in FHD already takes a monster of a video card in modern games with higher detail levels and going even higher feels like diminishing returns over better resolution. Unless you are playing games where ultra high frame rates matter and you have the rig to drive this many FPS, I would personally go with a panel with better color depth and resolution. If you are the type of gamer this display is aiming for, it is an excellent option and I recommend it.

First, I love Omen gear so it pains me to say this, but this panel is washed out and had dull colors. It's okay for gaming but really bad for anything else. The design and build quality are very good, but the panel itself feels last gen.

Overall, excellent monitor with a great customer experience.
Really cool gaming monitor. Ultra-thin bezel. The accent lighting is not overdone. Onscreen monitor controls are easy to understand and navigate. Text and graphics are clear and crisp. I did not see any screen tearing with both Nvidia and AMD GPUs. There is one Display Port, two HDMI ports, two USB ports, a USB to Computer connection, and a Headphone jack. Finally, HP included a spot on the top of the monitor stand to hang my headset. Nice touch! So, let’s talk about this monitor!
Setup:
The monitor shipped in three pieces: the stand, a VISA bracket, and the monitor itself. The monitor slips easily into the stand. There is a piece of plastic that holds the adjustable arm in place during shipping. Remove this and you will be able to slide the monitor along the length of the stand. The monitor tilts side to side and forward and back. It will not swing from landscape to portrait mode. If you try, you will break the pins connecting the monitor to the stand.
There is a VISA compatible wall plate. There are zero instructions on how this is supposed to work. The four screws that ship with the monitor are machine screws. So, I’m guessing there is a compatible wall mount system this will work with?
I love the placement of the power button and on-screen controls. They are placed on the lower right back of the monitor. At first, I thought this was as dumb idea. The more I use the controls the more I like the placement. The power button requires a lite touch. The menu system is activated and navigated by a single joystick. The joystick, like the power button, requires a light touch. I like this better than the traditional push button design. The joystick makes it easy to navigate around the menu without putting any upward pressure on the monitor from pushing buttons. The joystick is also more accurate than the traditional push button design. No pressing the wrong button.
Setting the monitor up with Windows was a piece of cake. Windows recognized it instantly. I did test the monitor with an AMD graphics powered system and a Nvidia powered system. AMD instantly recognized the monitor as FreeSync. Nvidia instantly recognized the monitor as G-Sync. Of special note, the Omen X 25f is one of the few FreeSync monitors that Nvidia has qualified as G-Sync compliant. HP also includes a little sticker on the lower left corner of the monitor with NVidia’s G-Sync logo.
Experience:
I was able to set this monitor up with the default 60hz all the way up to 240hz. The monitor does not default to 240hz. You will have to change this in Windows and possibly in your AMD or Nvidia software. Once set, I loaded up my favorite games. I tested with Mechwarrior Online, The Division 2, Fortnite, and Apex Legends. I also tested video with Netflix and YouTube. Each game was configured to the highest settings my CPU and GPU could handle. I did not see any screen tearing. Images were clean and crisp regardless if the refresh was set to a static 144hz/240hz or to adaptive sync. Framerates were also high.
Colors looked good as well. HP includes multiple preset modes. Standard, Gaming, Movie, Warm, Cool, Native, Low Blue Light, and HP Enhance+. I will only focus on Low Blue Light and Gaming. These are the two I used the most. You can experiment as you see fit. The Low Blue Light option sets the monitor to a warm image setting. It also dims the display a bit. I often use this setting for everyday computing tasks. As such, I manually lowered the brightness. This monitor is bright. You can adjust the preset without impacting the other monitor modes. This is a great feature because it allows you to adjust each preset to match your personal visual preference.
The Gaming Profile instantly increases the monitor brightness and contrast to 80%. It also increases the monitor’s response time. I did see a visual change with my gaming experience while in Game Mode. Images were sharper and actions seemed more responsive. There was zero ghosting of my images as I panned quickly panned from left to right in two first person shooters I tested.
The HP Omen Command Center does give you some control over the monitor. I wish HP had allowed full control over the monitor settings from the Command Center. You have control over Lighting, Performance, and Picture Mode. Lighting Control allows control over the ambient lighting effect of the monitor. There is a down facing RGB LED that casts light on the HP Omen logo on the monitor stand and your desktop. There are several modes including static, animation, task lighting, and off. You also have control over the color displayed. Performance mode allows two options; placement of the monitor’s refresh rate and the response time of the monitor. The FPS is not a game counter. So, don’t expect to get exact frame rates for The Division. Response time is less straight forward. It is on a sliding scale from Normal to Fastest. I tried fastest and found a few of my games looked worse. Leaving the monitor at the default response time seems to work for all my applications.
Picture Mode is useful though a bit overly simplified. There should be an advanced mode here so that I can access all the monitor options. Instead, granular control is left to the joystick and the onscreen display. The good part is that you can flip through all eight monitor presets and get a description and a sample image representing what each mode will do.
Do not worry if you do not have Omen Command Center loaded. Windows will download it from the Microsoft Store automatically when it detects an HP Omen product.
Final thoughts:
I like this monitor! My games look awesome. My images are sharp and colorful. Menu navigation is easy. I can connect more than one computer to this monitor which is a must for my needs. The bezel is thin allowing me to stand multiple HP Omen monitors together with minimal distraction between them. The 240hz refresh does make a big difference with gaming performance.

The HP Omen X 25f monitor has a full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution, 240 Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time, great viewing angles, and a stand that is very solid and allows for great adjustment of the monitor. It will adjust vertically about 8 or so inches and also tilts to accommodate nearly any position needed for comfort. On the back there are 2 HDMI and 1 DisplayPort inputs for you to use. They are positioned vertically and are a little challenging to access unless you can get behind the monitor. There are also some USB ports and a headphone port on the back. It does require a power adapter which I was a little disappointed by. My other disappointment with this is the menu button is a joystick type button on the back along with the power button, they are difficult to use and don’t seem to be that responsive when I try to make settings changes. As a result, I just leave the monitor on all the time now. The monitor mount is heavy and well built, it has a bracket at the top to hold your gaming headphones and I find it to work well, unless you have the monitor all the way up, then your headphones will be a little harder to reach, but it is a nice place to store them so they aren’t just laying around on your desktop. This monitor has AMD FreeSync (which I was not able to test out) and NVIDIA G-Sync technologies which paired perfectly with my HP Omen gaming desktop PC that has a NVIDIA card inside. Games were clear and even with the fast motion cut scenes I did not notice any ghosting or lag of any sort. The picture was bright, clear and beautiful.

The Omen X 25f 240Hz Gaming Display with Adaptive Sync is a very high quality monitor that works amazingly well if you are looking for a display with high refresh rate capabilities.
To start, I would first like to say just how much I love this monitor’s stand. The versatility in movement makes it easy to find and use the perfect viewing angle and the headphone stand on the back is a great touch. The stand comes preinstalled and all you have to do is remove a little plastic piece that is designed to hold the monitor at a specific height in relation to the stand during shipping.
As for the display itself, it has a very aesthetic appearance due to the nearly bezel-less design and RGB lighting on the underside which illuminates the area directly underneath the bottom of the display. The lighting can be controlled from the HP Omen Command Center software and can even be turned off completely if desired.
The power button and a clickable joystick are located on the lower back right side of the display. The joystick can be used to change various settings for the display and can even be used to enable an on-screen crosshair to assist with certain games.
When it comes to performance, this thing really rocks. The picture quality and response time is top notch and I haven’t experienced any sort of blurring, lag, or screen tearing using peak settings. It simply works as it should which is as an extremely responsive display to give you that little edge that can make the difference between winning and losing.
Overall, the Omen X 25f 240Hz Gaming Display is an amazing, quality monitor and I highly recommend it!

So not only did this I managed to pick this up in the beginning 2020 but it’s still continued to be good use for me today. Only drawback which is not company fault is my mother was using it for school and was not knowledgeable about the navigation stick being use for other options on the monitor. Driver is lifesaver tbh though. No dead pixels take good care of it and it will do you good. That’s my thoughts. Have good day!

I was a bit skeptical upon spending so much for a monitor. Best Buy had a flash deal for 120$ off of the list price bringing it to 330$. It. Is. Fantastic. I had to have it shipped cause my store didn’t have it, but it came the next day and the box is beautiful. It’s masterfully packed and it’s essentially plug-and-play, aside from the minor tweaking to get the colors how you want them. If you’re fine with the stock settings then it’s too easy. It’s also mountable if you choose to go that route. Comes with a metal stand which is extremely sturdy, doesn’t wobble or look unstable at any point.
My only complaint is it doesn’t pivot left or right, just up and down. It is a great monitor. If you’re in the market for a gaming monitor that has aesthetic to fit your room/work space (via LED light) and the functionality to match whatever you throw at it, look no further. The 240hz refresh rate will also keep it a top tier monitor for years to come.
Bottom line, if you want a top tier monitor and have the money, and are looking for longevity, look no further. HP hit it out of the park.

Great 1080p Gaming Monitor!!

This is a fantastic 1080p Gaming monitor! If you're looking for extremely high refresh rate, with an extremely low response time, don't look any further, this monitor won't disappoint!
This monitor is definitely geared towards the competitive gamer. You get Full HD 1080p resolution, 240HZ refresh rate, 1ms response rate, G-Sync and Freesync, and an extremely sturdy stand. The monitor has a LED underneath the bezel that you can control from the monitor or the HP Omen software, and has plenty of connectivity options: 1 DisplayPort, 2 HDMI, and 2 USB ports. The bezel is super thin giving this monitor an extremely clean look, and it has great brightness too.
Performance wise, I enjoyed crazy high frame rates on any game I played on it. There was no blurring, lag, or screen tearing. Everything was buttery smooth. The colors and brightness were extremely high, but on true black, I did notice you could see the back-light on the screen. This is where that TN panels shows some weakness, it doesn't have the black depth as some other panel choices.
Some minor disappointment I have found with the monitor, is simply the fact that they did choose a TN panel, limited to 1080p resolution, and don't support HDR. For this being a brand new, competitive product, it does feel like they are lacking a bit in the arena. 1080p is really the minimum resolution gamers want to run, and so many games support HDR or Wide Color. With the panel choice they went with, it makes it near impossible to cater to anything other than brute speed.
So in summary, if you want a gaming monitor that's killer fast, looks great, and has some great features, you wont' be disappointed. If gaming is not your primary use for a monitor, I would search for some other options, as the lack of higher resolution and panel type would sway me.

SETUP: Simple. Pretty much self explanatory. You can adjust the height of the monitor by just moving it up and down, tilt and swivel the screen to your preference.
POINTS OF INTEREST: This monitor features FreeSync which gets rid of screen tearing (where it looks like your display is disjointed), and it also gets rid of stuttering (jerky movements on the screen). Colors are phenomenal and vibrant. This monitor has lighting to match your gaming PC if you are lucky enough to have a gaming PC with the open panel concept.
FEATURES: Anti-glare; On-screen controls; Plug and Play; User controls; User programmable. This monitor has a DisplayPort, two HDMI and two USB ports. This model has 240Hz which allows the smoothest game playing, making it great for competitive gamers to perform their best and be one step ahead of the rest. The monitor has 1ms response time (instant response) which you need for competitive gaming and has what they are calling “micro-edge bezels”. Super thin bezels around the monitor to make the design look ultra sleek. It is rumored that these monitors are used on a gaming league. It is that good!
RECOMMENDATION: This has all the bells and whistles. This is definitely the best monitor I have ever had or could possibly want. Don’t settle for anything less, especially if you are really into gaming. No disappointments here.

A Strong Performing and Sleek 1080p Monitor
|

KEY FEATURES
16 x 9 TN Panel with a Matte Finish
240Hz Refresh Rate
1920 x 1080 Display
1ms Response Time
Ports: Display Port, HDMI, USB
This isn’t an all-encompassing list, just some of the highlights.
AESTHETICS
This is a sleek monitor. Easily one of the best-looking desktop monitors I’ve seen in a while. The bezels on the sides and top are very thin. It gives the illusion of having no borders around the top and sides. Even the bottom bezel is nothing too thick. The monitor has an LED light on the bottom to illuminate the workspace underneath and is controlled via the HP Omen app or directly via the multi-function joystick on the back of the panel. The light can be set to display 1 of 7 different colors, or cycle through them. The brightness and speed are also adjustable. As expected, the monitor is adjustable vertically, includes a tilt feature, and has a handy headphone hook on the back.
PERFORMANCE
This monitor performed flawlessly with any desktop app or game I played. The monitor boasts refresh rates of up to 240Hz with response times as low as 1ms. Paired to my GTX 1660Ti, the nVidia Control Panel had no issues recognizing the display. The necessary drivers were automatically downloaded and installed and the G-Sync feature was enabled. G-Sync is Nvidia’s technology that allows the computer to match the monitor’s refresh rate to the video card (similar to AMD Radeon’s FreeSync, which this monitor also supports). This tech is said to prevent screen tearing and artifacting during gaming. I will say that it worked awesome in my tests. Images were razor sharp and gaming was smooth and fluid. Even static images, such as fonts, spreadsheets, photos, etc. were crisp and highly detailed.
Out of the box color performance was very good. I began my testing and calibration using the “Standard” setting on the Omen monitor. With this setting, the brightness was considerably higher than necessary and the color temperatures were a little too cool (blueish). However, after some measurements with my colorimeter and a few tweaks to the settings, I was able to get the white balance nearly spot on. I have yet to calibrate a monitor that comes this close to the D65 target white balance or has so few color errors throughout the measurement ranges. The end result are images and photos are vivid, detailed, and have true to life colors.
The monitor includes the usual selection of ports found on most monitors. These ports include: USB 3.0, Display Port (1.2), and 2 HDMI ports (2.0).
NEGATIVES
I have only 2 complaints about this monitor. One is the resolution. It is only a 1920 x 1080 monitor. I consider this resolution the bare minimum for today’s standards. Sadly, my 2012 monitors from another manufacturer have higher resolutions than this monitor that is 7 years newer. That being said, my monitors don’t support G-Sync or FreeSync and are only 60Hz.
Second, is the dynamic range. This is billed as a premium gaming monitor, but yet it still only supports Standard Dynamic Range and doesn’t support High Dynamic Range. I feel this is a glaring omission, as so many games now support Wide Color Gamuts and High Dynamic Range.
CONCLUSION
I really like the look of the monitor. The thin bezels on the top and sides really give the monitor a sleek appearance. Gaming was always smooth and images were crisp, detailed, and vibrant. I never experienced any image tearing, motion blur, or stuttering. The monitor appears built to take full advantage of the latest cards from nVidia and AMD.
However, if you don’t need a monitor specifically geared toward gaming, I think you could find better. 4k HDR displays are commonplace now and can be had for similar money. Granted these monitors probably won’t have the 240Hz refresh, G-Sync or FreeSync, but that tech is not really needed for non-gamers. A good, high quality HDR image at 60Hz will be sufficient. The HDR monitors offer substantially more detail and definition to images and colors, making them that much closer to being lifelike. However, if gaming is your thing, this is a very good monitor and offers a lot of features most other monitors don’t.

This is a top notch monitor. It looks beautiful on and off. The changeable RGB lighting is a great touch.
Holy cow, 240MHZ – wow!! Zero ghosting or motion blur on this. I hooked up the included Display port cable, watched a couple Netflix shows and it looks amazing at 1080P. I popped in a football video and it was perfect. Crystal clear. I can’t believe how far PC monitors have advanced. Gaming graphics are so smooth. The Time Spy 3D Mark benchmark is incredible to watch at a high FPS
I really love the HP Enhance+ setting. It really makes photos pop out. I know that is not unique to this monitor. But it makes the detail of a photo I took of a bald eagle stand out like nothing I’ve been able to find myself in Lightroom. I need to figure out what they do the create that effect.
It’s so solidly built, the tilt and height adjustments are very smooth. This is actually a pretty heavy monitor and just proves how well built it is.

Impressive step up to a true GAMING monitor!

Impressive step up from mid-range monitors for next-level gaming!
This is my first venture into having a true gaming monitor to go along with a powerful gaming system. Up to this point, I pretty much figured that the CPU, RAM, and Video Card were the hardware items needing consideration, and that monitors were pretty much all the same and not something that would make a big difference in gaming performance.
As such, I now report that moving from the “good for gaming” type of monitor to the “MADE for gaming” monitor makes a considerable difference, and is well worth the investment. While we are talking about money, I always consider “bang for the buck” and if you are a casual gamer this may be a bit too much monitor for your needs – up to now I have tried many “good for gaming” monitors and dismissed all the tech-chatter about refresh rates and so forth as splitting hairs and techno-babble that most people would not notice one way or another in the real world. However, after using this monitor for a few weeks and putting it through the paces – I can say that I have gone from having a “good enough for gaming” monitor to a “PERFECT for gaming” monitor. Everything I have thrown at this monitor runs smoothly and crystal clear. If there is something that seems like it needs to be adjusted, this monitor has a way to adjust it. Paired with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and GSync it is one of those displays that makes you jump when the water splashes in the game to avoid getting wet! Good grief there is even a place to hang your headset on the back of the stand, and oodles of ports and plugs to handle any accessories and controllers you may have. Beats the heck out of having to run all the cables down to the CPU – connect them with ease to the monitor sitting right in front of you!
My first impression was picking up the box, as this monitor is BUILT like a BRICK and is obviously designed for durability and long-term performance. Up to this point I was going from monitor to monitor and remarking that they seemed to be getting lighter and lighter (pick up a 20” CRT monitor at the nearby computer museum and you will get a better feel for this observation). Hey it’s nice to have a monitor that is light as a feather and easy to move around, but this is a GAMING monitor and now I understand that is a totally different kind of beast.
This monitor came as a “matched set” with an HP Obelisk gaming tower, and the little niceties such as color-coordination and synchronization with the lighting displays is a nice touch, and still tasteful for an older gamer like myself. The lighting systems can be set for conservative and subtle display that don’t go overboard with the flashy-sizzle, or they can be cranked up for a full-blown light show if desired.
The overall appearance is very stylish (and sturdy) – and moving the screen up and down, in and out is easy. Very sturdy and stable on the base with no concern for tipping over or problems with the cat rubbing it off the desk (that’s another story – if you have a cat you know what I am talking about).
Although this is advertised as “gaming” monitor, don’t hold back in using it for watching some UHD movies and sports events, as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the fast-frame smooth action and screen crispness while watching the recent Women’s World Cup Soccer Tournament. Take a look for yourself and see if the ability to count the individual blades of grass doesn’t take you to a higher level!
If you are a hard-core gamer used to checking the specs on gaming monitors, you don’t need me to go over the technical aspects of this monitor, and I dare say you know much more than I do when it comes to choosing a monitor. If, however, you are wanting to take the plunge and see what the next level of gaming can be with a “MADE for GAMING” monitor, I believe you will find that this monitor exceeds your expectations and will most likely provide a few nice surprises with features that you will wonder how you did without!
