This mouse is solid but the cable's metal sleeve makes it a drag, literally. If you don't meticulously plan out how you want the cable on the desk it will just drag the mouse straight off of it. The mouse itself works great but that point is mute if I have to readjust the mouse every time.

The mouse itself is great, how ever for me it was too long for my hand to be able to play online games. The feature where you can adjust height at the end of the mouse I guess its alright, but for me it didnt help as my hand is short. People with big hands would benifit from this feature.

I must confess I never use a gaming mouse before until I got a hold of the Omen Reactor gaming mouse. Out of the box is nice futuristic looking mouse. It's very comfortable and being able to adjust the height of the palm rest area is a nice addition. The metallic braided cable does feel like it will last a while and HP was courteous with cord length. For the gaming part it took me some time to get adjusted to gaming with a mouse and keyboard. After an hour passed and getting more comfortable with it my precision felt like it was getting more accurate. Going back to a controller after this I can start to tell the differences. I'm still learning on how to use the DPI adjustment button by the scroll wheel. It's a nice feature and especially the ability to make real time adjustments. The mouse also works well for work productivity. The hot keys another area I'm starting to tinker with. The Omen software allows you to customized the hot keys and RGB lighting. FYI the Omen software can only be downloaded through the Windows Store. I learned this after spending an hour looking online to reinstall the Omen software when I did a clean install on my Omen laptop. I have not been able to find any faults besides the software only available through the Windows Store.

The first thing that you will notice is that this mouse is pretty. It's matte black finish and lobster claw look. It is definitely more unique than the other gaming mouses I have used. The braided USB cable is also built to last whatever life throws at it like teething dogs. You can control the lighting with the software.
The clicks are not quite as tactile as I would like. HP claims that the response time is 0.2 ms. I don't think my level of gaming can really tell the difference but it's a good mouse. The mouse itself is light and easy to use. Even after hours, it was comfortable. However, the cable itself is very heavy and was noticeable at times.
All in all, I think that this is a good mouse.

The OMEN Reactor wired mouse misses out on some of the staple features of gaming mice, while including others that seem rather inconsequential. All considered, it seems to fall well short of its competitors, and doesn't seem well suited for gaming.
This mouse is quite light for a gaming mouse--much more so than I'd prefer--and is completely missing any weight adjustment. Instead, users get an adjustable palm rest. Unfortunately, regardless of the adjustment setting, the palm rest doesn't actually provide any support for my hand, making it a completely useless feature for me. Palm rest adjustment is triggered with a spring-loaded slide on the right side of the mouse. This slide is positioned such that my pinky finger is naturally positioned against the crevice that this slide is recessed into, so I'm constantly feeling that along with the loose/jiggly slide itself, which are both a constant, annoying reminder of how terribly designed this mouse is.
The OMEN Command Center software--used for configuring this mouse--is pretty much a complete joke. The macros didn't work at all for me. Even if they did work, there's no apparent way to setup different profiles, much less game/application-specific profiles which are selected automatically based on target executable files (which can be found in competing products).
While having 12 DPS settings could be considered nice on paper, having only a single button with which to cycle through these settings in a single direction is entirely impractical for gaming. It would make sense for use with four settings, but certainly not 12. The wheel lighting (as well as palm lighting, set independently) can be set to indicate the current DPI setting, using roughly rainbow coloring. Unfortunately, HP decided not to start with red; instead, red is about a quarter of the way into the DPI settings from the lowest setting. All considered, the DPI management feels like a complete disaster.
The ergonomics of the side buttons feels off. While pressing the the 'back' button feels fine, the 'forward' button feels far too recessed, causing me to twist the mouse just to press it. This feels so awkward and disruptive, that I found myself completely avoiding using this button when gaming.
The optical button switches sound interesting, but I find the speed claims rather dubious for multiple reasons. This is a new technology, which doesn't appear to have been independently studied for efficacy in this context. I'm thinking HP decided on this technology purely as a marketing gimmick. I personally didn't notice any increased responsiveness, but assuming it may be there, this is probably a feature that could only be appreciated in a high-quality mouse (which this mouse is not), in the hands of the most demanding gamers.

HP - OMEN by HP Reactor Wired Optical-Mechanical Gaming Mouse with RGB Lighting - Black
I have been testing the HP Reactor Wired Optical-Mechanical Gaming Mouse along with its sister keyboard the Sequencer Wired Gaming Optical-Mechanical Blue Switch Keyboard. Together they match the theme of the HP gaming desktops and notebooks products. Unfortunately both products are a miss. There are some good ideas here but they do not hold up to the many options available to gamers. The side mouse buttons are the highlight. There is a thumb rest and the button placement there gives you enough room where you don’t accidently hit them. Another nice feature is the steel braided USB cable. I have not seen this on any product and it a great for the traveler. You can roll it up and it doesn’t kink. But it adds weight to the front of the mouse which may or maynot be a issue. And depending on your desk layout it can make a sound as you move it around while in use. Also the Reactor doesn’t slide well on my mouse pad. Every other mouse I have tested slides easily but the Reactor mouse has a friction feel that slows it down. Another grip I have is the gap between the wheel and the DPI button. You can actually put your finger in the gap between them. That is not a button you want to hit in the middle of a shooter game. They have made it so the back of the mouse has a height adjustment but because of the shape it just doesn’t work for me. To feel right in my hand I have to use the higher adjustment but because the rear is narrow it doesn’t take long before I am changing it. It might work for some hands and mine are a fairly normal size but it doesn’t work for me. The lighting is done well but its nothing we all haven’t seen before. If you have an Omen gaming computer it will look ok but it can’t fix the other issues I have. I just can’t recommend this mouse over the many options that are available. I am glad HP is in the fight to provide gamers options but I think they missed the mark here.

Quite a nice mouse. Smooth, comfortable, and incredibly accurate! I use mine for both gaming and digital content creation. Being able to switch dpi on the fly is great. Love the cable, neat as well as practical. No noticeable delay whatsoever. The adjustable palm rest turned out to be really useful. All around top notch product.
