Bought this because my windows 10 device was no longer supported. So far, everything checks out. Start up is far faster. It would be useful to have a simple transfer of files, settings, applications, etc. from the old device to the new one. The only way I found to do it was manually and my applications were not transferred. Also, the system backup defaults to the one drive (cloud) and no settings allow for a local drive. A computer expert may know fixes for these issues, but the built in Ai features were not helpful in answeringmy questions.

Purchased to use primarily for trading on the go with the tablet mode. Has worked great so far built-in speakers could be a little better but beyond that very easy setup-seems to process quickly and brightness/screen clarity is amazing so far.

When I first opened up the HP OmniBook X Flip, I was struck by how clean and simple the design was. Nothing gaudy, nothing over the top — just sleek lines and a case that looks and feels premium. It’s lighter than I expected for a 16-inch laptop, which was a nice surprise. I am a tactile person, and I have to admit I love the way the case feels… not glassy smooth, but nowhere near “textured.” It feels like quality. Coupled with the smooth edges, it just feels like…well like I said, feels like high quality. One great thing I noticed was when I opened it up, I could do it with one hand. A lot of times you have to actually hold down the bottom because it has a tendency to flip up with the top. Not so on this one, which is super awesome, especially if you are holding anything in your other hand. The keyboard is spacious, easy to type on, and laid out well. No awkward reaching, no cramped fingers. It feels like HP gave some real thought to usability here, and it shows. Past experience has taught me that with a lot of laptops you have to hold your wrists a bit above the touchpad to prevent that maddening mouse-moving-all-over-the-place ordeal, but with the HP Omni, I found you can actually wrest your wrists on the touchpad and there is no rampant moving of the cursor…it just stays put. Thank you HP for that!! Setting up for the first time is a bit of a chore. It takes what I felt like was an eternity. This is of no fault to HP, but rather Microsoft. What used to be a very straightforward process has now become an ordeal. I say that just to prepare you for the fact that setup is going to take a while. But then this is now true of just about any computer using Windows 11. But on a more positive note, let’s talk about that OLED screen. Stunning is the only word that really fits. The colors are vibrant, blacks are deep, and it really brings games and media to life. I fired up Forza Horizon 5 and was blown away. The gameplay was fluid, no lagging, and the realism of the graphics on this screen made it an absolute blast. Pairing it with my Turtle Beach VelocityOne KD3 setup turned it into an experience I won’t forget anytime soon. Compared to the usual IPS panels you’ll see in laptops, this OLED is on another level. IPS can hold its own in bright outdoor conditions, but for contrast, depth, and that “wow” factor, OLED is the clear winner. But I don’t want to be misleading. In medium to bright lighting, there is a lot of glare. Very noticeable glare, along with reflection. I could see myself quite clearly on the screen. With subdued lighting this isn’t an issue, but it is something to be aware of, especially if you are going to be using this where overhead lighting is prominent, such as the classroom or at the office. Performance-wise, this thing’s a rocket. The Intel Core Ultra 9 and 32GB of RAM handle just about anything I throw at it without breaking a sweat. Switching between heavy tasks, gaming, editing, or just everyday browsing feels seamless. And with a 2TB SSD, there’s more than enough room for games, media, and files without worrying about storage. I also love the touchscreen. It’s responsive, smooth, and just plain convenient. Whether I’m flipping it into media mode or just scrolling, it adds another layer of flexibility. Battery life is solid. Not mind-blowing, but definitely dependable enough to carry me through a full day without feeling tethered to the charger. Ports are plentiful — and yes, it even has a headphone jack. (Always a plus when so many laptops ditch them these days.) Speaking of sound: the built-in speakers are better than average, with enough clarity and punch for everyday use. Through headphones, the sound was even better than I expected — clean and immersive, perfect for gaming or just zoning out to music. Now for the AI features. The OmniBook is sold as a “Copilot+ PC,” with a neural processing unit meant to handle AI tasks locally. That means certain things like Recall, live captions, and some on-device enhancements run right on the laptop without needing to ping the cloud. In theory, this keeps things more private and more responsive, and I like that. You can even dig into the settings and control what’s stored, what’s excluded, and what gets deleted — so it doesn’t feel like your laptop is spying on you. The whole “recall” thing just really sounds invasive, like someone is watching every single thing you do. I chose to not use this function for that very reason. I know they say it is all “local” storage, but still… That said, not everything is local. Heavier AI work still leans on cloud services, which brings the usual mix of lag, internet dependency, and privacy trade-offs. Some of the “AI magic” feels more like neat demos than daily drivers. So while the Copilot+ features aren’t useless, they’re not “life-changing” yet either. Personally, I’m more impressed with the core hardware - the speed, storage, display - than with the AI extras. I hate to say it, but in my book there has been very little usefulness with a lot of AI features so far. But HP has designed it's AI architecture to be ready for future improvements. We'll see. All in all, this laptop checks a lot of boxes: great design, powerful performance, a gorgeous OLED screen, and plenty of storage. It handles gaming like a champ, works as a daily driver without compromise, and offers flexibility with the touchscreen and port selection. The AI features could use some growing up, but that’s not enough to drag this powerhouse down. Final word: As a contender in the top-tier laptop/flip market, this one is a clear choice. FAST, beautiful/stunning display, tons of storage, very well-built, and even though I’m not very impressed with the AI aspect of it, it is designed to handle the more impressive and soon-to-come advanced AI features that are in the works. This laptop is well-deserving of a five-star rating, and in fact, I would rate it much higher if it was possible. This is a beast of a machine that is worthy of a very-high recommendation!
