    Bang for the buck!

When you take this laptop out of the box, you'll feel like you did not spend enough money. It is sleek and the soft white on silver look makes it appear is if they're trying to steal Mac owners by their wallets! A dvd burner on a slim build like this is an added bonus. The size is a little large, but for a 15.6" screen, it's not too big or annoying. I am speaking after using it on a fresh install of Win81 and it does not let you down. The screen is bright and clear, no blur spots, as soon on higher models, the keys type perfectly, and the touchpad is a HUGE step up for hp. Extremely responsive without the jump up or repeated movements. At this price point, it's a hard bargain to beat. Speaking of, I forgot to add that it's loaded with Beats Audio. This would double as a perfect school laptop or work machine if the 15.6" size is your target.

Great Budget Laptop that doesn't feel "budgetty".

    Posted .

I was looking for a cheaper laptop for some simpler tasks for my business (local meetings where i'm showing clients their designs/websites, running them through their website backend system, etc)...But I figured if I get the bonus of actually being able to do some work on it than i'd be more than happy! So here are my impressions: - Windows 8 is a solid OS overall and runs really smoothly. I had a hiccup during one system update, so make sure to keep some recovery files handy. - Keyboard: I was nervous that this was going to be a downside when getting a Windows Laptop compared to my iMac, but this keyboard has a Mac-Like feel. Love it! - TrackPad/Mouse: EXCELLENT! This thing feels and works great, super responsive. I do however use an external Microsoft Sculpt when i'm working (preference). - Sound: Great for a laptop. - Screen: I'm a web designer/graphic designer - So the screen isn't as good as my Mac and some colors are quite a bit different between the two, which is one downside to this laptop. But overall this is a really good screen and most people wouldn't even think about it i'm sure. - Processor: It has been excellent. I've been working on HUGE files within Adobe Photoshop CS6 (power hungry program) and it's not had a hiccup! I am honestly shocked and BEYOND happy with this aspect of the computer. - HardDrive: Good, plenty of space. - Battery Life is around 5 hours I believe, I mostly have it plugged up. - Overall I really love the construction of the laptop - It feels very solid and has a Mac/Apple look to it. Very sleek, doesn't weigh a lot and carries well in a small bag or by itself. Has plenty of USB ports, HDMI is a plus, etc. I've had USB stick drives in it, external mouse, HDMI to my TV and used the Ethernet input...All has been excellent so far! Coming from a designer / developer this is actually an excellent little laptop and i'm really happy with it. For the mass audience they probably throw half of the stress that I do on the processor and whatnot, so I would highly recommend this laptop to just about anyone (even someone doing my line of work if they want/need to go the PC route).

I have had this computer for a few weeks and I love it! The outside is a beautiful white. This is my first time working with Windows 8 and it is awesome! It's weight is not light but not heavy either. It doesn't get hot (my last laptop had that problem bad). Great product!

    Definitely worth it

My old laptop was really outdated and wanted to get a new one that wasn't going to break the bank but performed well enough for my uses. I'm still getting use to it after having it for 1 1/2 months (, previously I owned a dell with intel and windows 7). It is fairly lightweight, it runs well and has a decent internet connection speed. I can multitask between windows and tabs without lag. I like the other features this laptop has to offer (, optional connection with ethernet cord, has a disc drive, 3 usb ports, a memory card reader, built in webcam and mic, headphone port, hdmi port). I have used the usb ports and the card reader, they all work well but the 2 usb ports on the left are a bit too close together. I find when I use both usb ports the flash drives are put in at an angle because there isn't enough space between them. The new windows is neat but still getting use to, I find myself using my desktop more than the windows 8 features, maybe I would use it more if I had a touch screen but that runs more money and not a necessity. It doesn't come with backup disc drivers and applications but you can save it once to dvd discs or a usb flash drive. HP also has applications on here to use for backup and creating of documents, photos, and music. All in all a great laptop for the price.

    Very Impressed

I'm a tough critic when it comes to rating but i gotta say HP Stepped up their game this thing outperformed my asus with a i5 processor. The speakers are super multitasking is no problem boots up in no time design is good sturdy I was kinda skeptical in the beginning for that price Just hope it lasts 5 plus years

    Good Laptop for School

This was purchased for my 13 year old nephew to use for school. It is more than sufficient for the task. He is also able to play some games on it, though it is not really designed to handle the ones he wants to play.

    HP - Pavilion 15.6" Laptop - AMD A8-Series - 6GB

I've had this laptop for about two months now and use it daily. So far, I'm very happy with it. I'm not real tech savvy, but I do know a few things. I realize this machine isn't the latest and greatest in technology, but it's just fine for what I need. I do play some games and it's keeping up just fine. I also do regular maintenance on it too. It comes on fast and shuts off fast, which is something that took forever in my last laptop. It came with Webroot Security software which I really like and plan on buying it when my trial runs out. I hesitated about buying the laptop in snow white color, but it actually stays cleaner than my silver one did. After hearing and reading some complaints about Best Buy, I was hesitant about my purchase here. But I have to say they have been great and my transaction experience was easy and fast!! I will definitely buy from them again. TY, Best Buy!

Best for college students and budget issues!

I just received my HP laptop today and I'm already in love with it! Such a great display and super fast! Battery life is great and I feel like it's worth more money than I spent. The look is pretty sleek and nice. Thin and light weight is a plus! DVD player is also a plus. I feel this laptop is better than all the other brands for the money. By far the best purchase in a laptop iv ever done.

I don't do too many "taxing" services, but I do stream HD video and some photo work and this laptop is suffice. It also has Dre Beats speakers installed in the laptop (that wasn't in the description when I ordered it). It seems to hum right along and has a nice, quick startup. I'm very pleased with my purchase. 4-star rating because I am well aware there are better laptops out there, but for the price I think everyone would be pleased.

I am enjoying the new HP... clean lines and good size. Like the keypad. Somewhat frustrated with the touchpad and mouse at times... sometimes I have to click on something two or three times before the screen responds. But still overall happy considering what I paid for it.

    Gets the job done

This device is really nice, and as long as I am not using IE then my browser runs well. I think it has a really nice amount of memory, can move between programs with little to no fuss. Minor issues with the track pad not being operable at times. The battery life is pretty decent. I got this device so I can work while traveling and it suites my needs, maybe incorporate a little more user friendliness, but overall I enjoy it.

A nice computer to look at. It was very fast when I first used it then got a little slow after just a few downloads. I also had a problem with the mouse pad where it was non responsive. I tried to solve the problem myself and couldn't figure it out. I finally called for support and they had to reset it back to factory settings.

    What I was looking for

    |
    Posted .

My biggest complaint is with the Windows 8 operating system. It is very evident it is made for a tablet than a full size laptop, which creates a lot of annoyance, such as the start window popping up accidentally. Hardware-wise, the touch pad is still giving me fits.

I was in need of a new laptop for school, and the salesman requested this would be perfect for what I need. I decided to trust him and give it a try since I've owned HP's previously and have been very happy. This laptop has everything I need and more! I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for an inexpensive laptop to get the job done!

Not designed for gaming, but useful for Office stuff. I read a review where it can handle Photoshop graphics/designing, and I'm yet to try it out. But otherwise boots up/shuts down quick, no performance issues. Only wish it had a touch screen, that's the only downside for me really. Overall, pretty content. It does what I need it to do..

    Good computer for the price

Good computer for the price; although FULL of bloatware. I was a little more than upset that neither the Product Key and/or the Win 8.1 install disk was not given with the computer, as I wanted to reformat the drive and start from scratch. I suppose I could download a key extractor but that's more time. I hate Win 8 and am quite glad that this is not a computer I ever use. That said, the computer is a decent quality mid-priced PC Laptop. I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a box that my wife was going to check email, surf the net, store pictures, etc. Quite enough performance power for her daily (weekly) needs.

This laptop will do all basic functions that you need it to do. It runs fairly quickly and is easy to use. Connection speed is okay as well. Looks nice too and is light weight. Have not used it for very long since purchased but it seems to meet my basic computer needs just fine so far.
