    HP Pavilion 22BW 21.5" 1920 x 1080 HD monitor

    Posted .

I purchased the HP Pavilion a few days ago to use with a new Mac Mini I bought. The monitor is a very good value for the money, can't beat it for a 1920 x 1080 resolution monitor in my opinion. It was fairly easy to set up and I was using it with my Mac in about 5 minutes of taking it out of the box. It hooks up to computers with either an HDMI, DVI or VGA cable. The monitor is very sturdy and has a nice viewing angle and a perfect height to it for viewing. It also tilts fairly easily. I like the added gloss on some parts that HP has added compared to some competitors that just use a matte black finish. If you need a monitor but don't want to spend much and still want a good quality one with a good size this would be an excellent choice, I would recommend it to anyone for only $130.

I was looking for a monitor for use in a room with a lot of windows and most that I found were glossy finish, this one is a matte finish. It has a good brightness level and I can see it quite well even in a very bright room and most importantly with out glare. I bought the unit on sale at about $120. Also this unit came with both a vga and dvi cable. i was also looking at the less expensive model, but realized i would also need to buy a dvi cable at $20 so the saving weren't really there.

Excellent quality and specs for the price

So far the monitor is working just fine and I am happy with it. I was very disappointed in the support materials. All the warrantee and tech support inserts were in Spanish and the one-sheet assembly form with pictures was very confusing. What's the point of putting set up information on the enclosed disc when you don't have a monitor on which to see it? I still haven't figured out how to register the monitor for HP's warrantee coverage. This is the first time I've had a landscape monitor so I really like the definition of the images and videos. However, even though I've increased the size of the fonts - when I receive some HTML emails they are compressed (top to bottom) on the screen with lots of blank space on either side and the fonts are very small and hard to read - and there doesn't seem to be a way to enlarge them. I assume this is the same with any landscape screen and something I have to adjust to.

Great value, good quality and feature set

This one of the nicest monitors I have ever seen for under $200, and it is closer to $100 than to $200! I really couldn't believe the features for this price. The IPS panel delivers the consistent color and wide viewing angles you expect. The contrast on this monitors seems quite linear, with no noticeable drop out near bright and dark ends of the spectrum. The advertised response time is very fast and I have seen no ghosting. It has DVI, VGA, and HDMI inputs, which is unusual for this price range. The menus are quite comprehensive, allowing for a lot of customization. The stand is stable. This monitor is very light and thin. Automatic input detection works well. It is easy to clean the display because of the bezel design. There are no corners to catch dust and dirt. Just be sure to use a clean, soft cloth for cleaning as it may be possible to scratch the anti-glare surface. The dot pitch is high enough (102dpi) that the grid between the pixels is not easily visible. Mine has no dead pixels. The only drawbacks I have see are: It's not a touchscreen (but a normal monitor like this combined with a Leap Motion sensor might be better anyway). It's not 3D-ready (not 120hz and no polarizer). The top edge of the screen feels a little cheap/loose. No DisplayPort input. Stand is not height adjustable (just forward/back angle). No VESA mount.

Wanted to replace old CRT with new monitor without loosing color acuracy. I am using this monitor for professional photography and absolutly needed the color acuracy. I installed this monitor side by side with my old CRT monitor and after running the color adjustment programs, I could not tell the color difference between the two monitors. I have never seen a LCD monitor with this good of color acuracy. Off axis performance was also better than any LCD monitor I have experienced. It is also great to have the 1080p resolution when using Photoshop. I would recommend this monitor to anybody.

I got this monitor to set up my laptop at home for when I do some gaming, and it displays incredibly! It is crisp and I get great colors, and without excessive brightness so I don't get eye strain when I game for a while. Also, this monitor is super compact and hardly takes up any room compared to my old monitor. Absolutely love it!

This monitor is the perfect size for my family. It's light weight so it can be moved easily for cleaning under it, yet it's heavy enough, with a nice sized base, that it can't be tipped over. The cat hasn't even been able to and he used to sleep on top of the other one!! It can also be adjusted for different viewing angles.

Perfect size monitor for average size desk

Needed to replace another LCD monitor purchased 5 yrs ago. Was able to move up to the larger size. Had my choice of lots of screen space at highest resolution; or use slightly lower resolution with bigger icons and font - much needed for my mother's desk. Colors and sharpness are great. Easy to connect and set up! Recommend highly, especially for the price!

I purchased this monitor to use as a second display for my iMac. The monitor is compact and doesn't take up much room. The colors look good and was easy to setup with the an HDMI cable and Mini-DVI to HDMI converter. The only complaint I have is that it sits about 2 inches lower than my iMac display, but that is my fault for not properly looking at the dimensions.

Our bookkeeper had been complaining about how hard it had become to see the company check register on the old 13 inch monitor atttached to our financial computer. I saw this monitor pop up on one of Best Buy's one-day flash sales at a great price, and ordered it. After setting it up and using it, I wish I had bought five more. I had the old monitor out and this monitor up and running in no time, with no compatibility problems at all. Just plug and go. The HP has a beautiful bright panoramic HD screen that seems 3 times the size of the old screen. No more squinting when looking at the check register or typing documents. Just tweak the display resolution in Windows Control Panel to your liking. I will absolutely buy more of these for the office.

Excellent HD monitor for image quality and gaming

The monitor provides stunning reproduction of images and videos. Remember though, a monitor is only as good as the graphics card it is plugged into. Also, I have not experienced any washed out colors. Download the latest software from HP, add the available color profile included in the HP software, and your display will be vivid, crisp and clear. I got this monitor while it was on sale, but would still be pleased with it at full price.

I recently purchased a HP COMPUTER but did not realize that it did not come with a monitor... So at my local best buy I saw this monitor which matched up with my computer perfectly..however, it did not come with a HDMI cable.. (I was not told that by the salesman and it was not marked on the box, but), luckily I had one laying around... Easy hook up, great picture and easy to use...definitely worth the price..

I recently had to purchase a new computer. I had already purchased the CPU unit and was in the market for a good, inexpensive monitor. After researching the different types and searching online, I went to the nearest Best Buy and found the one I wanted. Although the monitor had no sound, a store employee helped me find a great speaker system to finish off my computer. Once I got home and got the system up and running, I was (and still am) completely satisfied. The monitor is easy to set up and use and has a very clear and vibrant picture. I highly recommend this monitor to anyone and everyone.

    Great Monitor

I did a lot of research before buying this monitor. In the end I decided to buy the HP Pavilion 22bw. I am extremely happy with the decision. The picture quality and colors are first rate. The screen dimensions easily accommodate 2 screens side by side, a feature I didn't have on my older monitor. My only minor complaint is that the on/off button is located on the bottom right corner of the monitor. Often several times a day I will inadvertently hit the button and turn the monitor off while using my mouse. This design flaw could easily be remedied by either making the button harder to push or by moving the button to the side of the monitor.

    Good monitor

    Posted .

I purchased the HP 22bw monitor. Initially a Love-hate relationship. Worked great with the DVI input, looked terrible with an HDMI cable. Went to the store, no help excepting suggesting another brand. Read other user reviews about not working well with the Mini and felt disappointed. After searching the forums, found out that some monitors with HDMI inputs allow you to select "TV" or "Monitor" in the on-screen controls. The HP has a setting, visible only when connected via HDMI, to turn overscan (or was it underscan?) on or off. Turned it off and this did the trick! Gorgeous picture using the HDMI cable. That would have been helpful information in the manual (which I had to find on line). Decided to trade the 22bw for the 23bw inch and glad I did - perfect desktop monitor! Great value for a lot of display real estate. Both of these models are good bargains.

I ordered this monitor because I needed a monitor with an HDMI input to use to work on my Raspberry Pi. In addition, I use is as a secondary monitor for my work laptop when I am working from home. It just has really nice colors, the picture is vivid and clear. Had two HDMI ports in addition to the VGA and DVI inputs, and will auto switch to the port with power on it. No complaints from me.

I am 72 years old and my eyesight isn't what it used to be. This large screen monitor and its high resolution takes less eye strain and makes it enjoyable to use the computer. It is especially wonderful when working with spreadsheets. I'm happy.

I've had no problems with this monitor except it didn't work with my ancient VGA switch. That was only a big deal when I was moving files between old and new computer. Files are moved and I don't need the VGA switch anymore. Other than that, the monitor is just fine. I couldn't go any bigger otherwise the monitor wouldn't fit in the monitor space on my computer desk.

    My first ...

This is my first buy of an external monitor to use with my laptop. I bought this primarily for use at home when working remote. This monitor has a VGA, DVI and HDMI connector. It would have been nice if it had a Audio in/out. Picture is great, color is great, screen is not glossy so no glare. I wanted to go with 23' but this 21.5' seems good enough size. Build quality is good , thin and pretty light weight. Being light weight got to be careful to not topple it over. Overall it's been a great buy and enjoying it.
