    Good performance, questionable build quality

TL;DR Upgrade the storage and you'll have a pretty capable, very portable machine with okay battery life. It's a decent laptop for a student on a budget (make sure you account for the cost of an SSD). Just don't expect it to last more than 2-3 years. I have owned this laptop for about four months. I would not recommend buying it without upgrading the storage to an SSD. I swapped the HDD out the day I bought it and there was still a noticeable increase in speed even though I did not do any major tasks with the stock drive. Regarding performance, I have not had any issues running half a dozen tabs on Chrome with Word, OneNote, Spotify, and AirDroid running. I have had no issues with stability. No blue screens or frozen programs. It doesn't get very hot either, although that fan can push a lot of air if you're doing heavy workloads (but it's not loud). The biggest concern is the build quality. The entire device feels flimsy. Press down next to the trackpad, and it will depress a couple millimeters. Press in the middle of the bottom and you can feel it give too. The entire chassis will flex with almost no pressure and the display flexes more than any other part of the laptop. The entire laptop feels like they used plastic that is just a little bit too thin. There are also fairly large gaps around each key and the trackpad. Keep a can of compressed air handy, because you will get dust and lint stuck around the keys. At least you can blow the dust out of the keyboard, though. I'm looking at you, Apple. Also, the speaker cutouts above the keyboard gets dust stuck in it too. It always will. They have this weird geometric design for the speaker cutouts and just helps dust get stuck in there more easily because it acts like a funnel. The sloping edges on both sides of the keyboard also funnel dust (and the occasional beard hair) into the keyboard. The hinges are slightly looser than when I bought it, but I haven't had any problems with it wobbling severely. I may just need to tighten a few screws. The keyboard is relatively comfortable to type on. There is decent key travel. If you are sick of lighter laptops having almost no discernible travel, this will make you much happier. It is a little too springy for my taste, but that is better than too mushy. I can type pretty fast on it. It's actually great for taking notes at school, although it is a little loud (not as loud as the newer MacBook keyboards, though). The build quality strikes again, though. The keys wobble a lot. Like, a whole lot. They feel very loose. I don't notice is too much when I am typing quickly, but it does annoy me. The slightly stiffer response of the keys helps to alleviate some of the annoyance from this, since there is no confusion about whether or not you actually hit the key. I did notice that some of the labels on the keys were slightly faded right out of the box. I am expecting those to be worn off within the first year. Several of the keys already have wear spots on them already, but I am in a major that requires a significant amount of writing. I would not expect that most users would see this level of wear in the first four months. With battery saver enabled, I average 5-6 hours of battery life. Never believe the manufacturer's battery rating for any laptop. Those numbers are almost always impossible to achieve. Look up third party reviews. One annoying thing is that even with a consistent workload, the estimated time remaining for the battery is never accurate. It usually says 4-4.5 hours, but I can get closer to 6 if I'm not doing any heavy browsing, have the brightness low, and stick to note-taking or using Word/Google Docs, especially if there are no programs running in the background (like a VPN). It's better than the estimated time being higher than the amount of time you actually have, but still a little annoying. If I'm nitpicking, the top-case shows a lot of smudges and fingerprints. But, the size is perfect. It fits in my backpack easily with all my textbooks and is small enough to fit on a desk or crowded table during class without the keyboard feeling cramped.

Hi I have bought two Laptops so far this summer for Back to School period. This one has a great price and a lot of features and my boy loved it immediately. Nevertheless I have to confess that I bought it for the price. The screen it's not the best and the HDD speed is awful, at best. I can live with the screen but not with the speed so I bought an SSD of the same size 500GB, and now its flying!!! It's an easy process just buy the disk, perform an System Image from Windows to an USB Drive and create a Bootable USB Disk. Remove the old drive, put the new one in and boot from the bootable USB drive. Look for System Image Restore in the the Windows 10 recovery and start the process. Speed won't be an issue anymore.

Im a college student and I’ve used this laptop for about 6 months now. It gets the job done.... most of the time.... it’s slow and it DEFINITELY has issues staying connected/connecting to WiFi. When you charge it, the little fan is SUPER LOUD to the point I actually get looks in class by the people around me. It takes forever to update as well but you get what you pay for. Screen is sensitive, accidentally bumped it too hard and the screen cracked and the touchscreen stopped working so I had to pay to get it fixed. Again, it gets the job done but don’t expect high speed actions and great WiFi connectivity. Do expect loud fans so charge it at home.

Had to replace for an i5 laptop of same class

This would be a 4 except that we got the laptop to be used with sound editing equipment and software so we exchanged it for the next product level of in the 360 series with an i5 processor. Another issue was that the new unit had a Solid State drive, which is quicker for booting etc. While that drive is only a quarter the size of this unit, we are not going to use the much greater space of this unit so we got the speed without being hurt by the trade-off. Overall, we got much the same product but it was much more useful for not that much more. I would recommend this laptop for those that do not need the i5 processor (most should not) and need more space than quick booting for a drive.

This box is more than I really need. I explained at length to the salesman what I was after and he suggested this as my best fit[!?] a couple of weeks after purchase I discovered I probably could have done very well with a Chrome book or tablet. The computer is very fast, but I am extremely tired of all of the useless icons on this box. I'd love to delete about 90% but there doesn't seem to be a way. Most of them are for games or "offers" as in 'buy this'. Windows 10 is far to dense for about 90% of the users out there. Wish XP was still available. Not sure why HP insists on having the touch pad off center. Doesn't seem very ergonomic. All in all not the best sales/equipment experience I've ever had, but options are extremely limited here in northern MI.

While the laptop in itself is good enough for the job intended for, it desperately lacks quick resolution from HP. I bought this for my son who is in college & within a couple of months it stopped all sounds from the speakers. This was, as per many online articles, a result of a patch from HP. Now this is of not much use for my son when he wants to review videos for his classes as he cannot get any sound out of the laptop - speakers or the headphone jacks. He is able to hear sound via Bluetooth.

I liked this laptop for the first 6 months that I had it. It's reasonably fast, compact, and aesthetically pleasing. Unfortunately, the 2-in-1 design is very fragile, and recently, the hinge broke after only a few months of moderate use. This separated the two parts of the screen, making a small, hairline crack in the bottom right corner. It's still under warranty, so I'll be bringing it back for a refund soon.

I got this on sale for $429. It went to 379 a week later and Best Buy price matched. Hadn't had a new laptop since 2008 but it still doesn't seem as fast as I'd expect. Especially when switching users and at start up. It also comes with a poop load of bloatware. I'd prolly say it's more like a 3.7 rating and good for the price I got it at. I was up in the air on the touch screen and if it was worth the extra money and it definitely is..

I was disappointed by the speed of the i3 processor. The newer generation didn't provide the improved speed that I anticipated. I found the screen was difficult to read due to the lower resolution 1366 x 768 after using a HD screen 1920 x 1080. It was surprisingly heavy and looked cheap with the black plastic everywhere. This would be fine for a starter computer. Guess I'll wait for a sale on a higher end model.

You can't beat the price for what you get in this 2-in-1 laptop: Touch screen, a bunch of full-sized ports, good battery life, attractive styling, etc. The only thing really holding this back from being great is the hard drive: a solid state HDD would be much more responsive. But, hey, that is the nature of those beast. Frankly, the added cost of the solid state would make this less of a good value. All in all, it's a great buy.

Very good but the screen was flushed out easy. When I put it in a different form like tent mode. But it’s excellent for a bargain pc I was even playing Batman asylum at 45 FPS on high I was shocked!!! The battery life is good too. I just couldn’t get over the bad screen for the money so I took it back and went cheaper

It’s a little too slow for my liking. There would be times that I would wait for about 5 mins for an app to load. By the way, I’m not really a power user, so if I feel that it’s too slow, then there’s really something wrong. Perhaps it needs more RAM or the hdd needs to be swapped to a ssd.

Bought this for school. After few months the screen detached but still working. Have to send for repair (under company warranty). It ended up that I was given a voucher to buy a new one. I bought Mac instead. The price is reasonable enough for its purpose.

I wanted this laptop to work out. And believe it’s really good for the price, but the crappy display genuinely hurts my eyes. The colors also don’t match authentically how they’re supposed to. Also, it’s a little heavier then I expected.

This was purchased as a replacement computer and it was a big mistake. Too small. For a first timer it would be fine. It’s quick and has space, easy setup, which is nice. For heavy duty work I would not recommend it, but for a college person it would be great.

Since purchasing an HP computer and printer two months ago, I have had nothing but trouble. The printer has already been replaced with a Cannon which is far more reliable and lasts longer. My first Cannon printer is still working after 10 years. The computer is just so-so.

I bought this laptop for my online classes and it has been good so far. I don’t like that the power button is on the side because I always hit it when I’m moving the laptop around while using it.
