Okay, first off, I purchased a refurbished excellent model and I highly recommend. It's much cheaper than the full price and it looks and works amazing. Upon opening the laptop, I noticed that the fan was a little noisy. I tried to follow some instructions online to fix it, but nothing was working. It's now the second day that I've had this and everything's almost perfect. With cooling, the fan is going to have to run. I try not to keep to many programs or tabs open, because that's what causes the fan to be super loud. Also, I keep my brightness down, and only use the backlit keyboard when I absolutely need it. I did find that the battery does drain pretty fast, so I like to keep it on battery saver mode.
I was originally planning to get a Macbook Air, but I sufficed with this Pavillion, and I have no regrets. The keys have nice travel and this machine has touchscreen, a fingerprint reader, 360 abilities, a backlit keyboard, and an i5 processor. What more could you need?

College Laptop

I bought this laptop as a first time college student. I love the ease of unlocking it with scanning my finger. It has a clear display, bright keyboard lighting, and it is quite thin to transport to and from lectures. I would say it’s for a college student that is going to be studying in a library next to an outlet.

Picked this up on a whim when I saw it on sale. Never owned a laptop before, so this is a bit of an adjustment for me coming from a desktop.
What I like is the touch screen functionality, the ability to flip over into tablet mode, and the light up keyboard. The quad-core processor (hyper-threaded to eight) is helpful for multitasking. Overall, I find this laptop to be very easy to use.
What I don't like is the battery seems to only last 4.5hrs or so on a full charge doing just normal computing (web browsing, YouTube, ect). It does seem to run a bit hot which results in the fan kicking on frequently, but I really only notice it if the room I am in is completely quiet otherwise. My only other concerns would be the single channel 8GB of RAM slowing me down, and the hard drive getting full quite quickly, but I believe it's pretty simple and not too expensive to expand both of those down the road if needed.
Overall, for this being a more "budget" friendly laptop, I find it to be more than enough for my needs.

I had one just like this that I had gotten in June 2018 for college and it quit on me and there was nothing that could have been about it. I received this one today and it is perfect! There are reviews that the keyboard doesn’t light up but it actually does! You just have to push a button to turn it on. It is very lightweight and the speed of it is unbelievable! Only con is, it overheats quickly if it is sitting down on a blanket or something. I had it on my chest and I had no heating problems and the fan worked perfectly so I am guessing it needs to be on a flat surface.

Bought this laptop about a month ago. So far it has worked great. I've had no issues with this laptop at all. I love the color, the picture quality, i honestly love everything about it and so does my son while he is doing online schooling. I've seen a couple reviews on here saying they had a hard time seeing the letters on the keyboard, but i have no issue with that at all. I can see the letters on the keyboard just fine with the back light on or even off. Another thing i saw was a few reviews on here saying the sound wasn't to great, but in my opinion the sound is great. I mean don't get me wrong its not as loud as a T.V. or sound system but it does get pretty loud. My son can be on his zoom meetings for school and hear everything fine with the volume being on 50 even though it can go up higher. I can hear the sound great when i am watching YouTube or Netflix. The keyboard is amazing and the back light is an extra bonus. The back light has 2 light settings. The keyboard is very comfortable to use and very spacious. The 2-in-1 feature is great. We mainly use it in the tent mode when my toddler is watching movies or playing games. I haven't really used the tablet mode much, but its a nice feature to have. Another great feature is the touchscreen!! My only 2 complaints is that it does die a little fast nothing too major but around hour 2 it will die, but when i have the battery saver on it will last me about 3-4 hours, but like i said it's nothing major because i can easily plug in the charger. The other complaint is the fan, it can be a little loud nothing major once again, but when you are in a very quite room you can hear it while it is on. Is this laptop worth buying for the price...in my opinion yes it is worth buying its a very good laptop great i should say, and for the price you can't beat that either!!

This... is a great looking economy touchscreen laptop. Yes, it is backlit which is a necessity for all laptops. Don't let anyone tell you elsewise.
It's a Windows Home Pro (not S mode). Another plus.
Ok, the minus one star parts. The biggest is battery life. Maybe lasts about 3 hrs with decent use. The touchscreen part while nice is a battery killer.
It is also heavy compared to my "work" laptop which is a high end laptop.
A minor gripe. Where is the standalone power button? It needs one. Not the "soft" F12 key.
But.. I had an older HP Pavilion. Great 17" laptop. Terrible battery (recurring HP issue? ). I said I'd never get another HP but this one for the price has been the best.

I’ve had the laptop for a few weeks now and so far it’s been pretty good. It’s really fast switching between programs and navigating the web, but there’s just one thing that’s kind of annoying, the fan. Even if I’m just watching a YouTube video or shopping online, the fan will start out of nowhere and its pretty loud. I would understand if I was running a straining program or game, but even with the most simplest of tasks the fan starts up and lasts for a while. Aside from that one problem, I would say for the price its pretty good for a student or someone looking to upgrade their laptop.

Love it so far. Definitely worth what I paid since I got it on sale. Not sure it would be worth the full sticker price. But, seems fast enough for basic things and looks super pretty. Love the backlit keyboard and the fingerprint reader, and the 2 in 1 functionality. Also love that it has USB-C and HDMI ports instead of only one or the other.
My ONLY complaint so far, is the fan. This is, by far, the NOISIEST laptop I have ever owned. The fan will be running constantly and it is loud. It keeps the laptop cool well, but it sure is loud and kind of annoying.
Other than that, great so far and can't wait to keep using it!

Definitely has everything needed for my daughter to use for her college courses. The fingerprint feature isn’t perfect, but works & the Hello camera feature doesn’t work with the installed camera. It states the face recognition can’t be used with the factory installed camera, so I feel like it offers a steak to eat without any teeth :). All in all, it’s sleek, lightweight, fast refresh rate, easy multitasking, and runs immulators such as NOX & Bluestacks without making the system overheat. I’m happy with the purchase & would definitely recommend to others.

This is an early review, and these are the initial impressions. Hopefully, there won't be issues down the road....
First, the "Pros"
Excellent screen, with good color balance, brightness, and contrast. No light "bleed" on dark screen. And - 1080P display - great for videos. Good touch response.
With 4 core i5 hyper-threading, 8gb ram, the computer has quite snappy performance - can multi-task, multiple web pages, and can run many games - although probably advisable to use a laptop cooler.....
Keyboard feel and travel is good - back light a great addition - has 2 level brightness. Track pad works perfectly.
Sound from speakers is pretty good for this size laptop - sound through headphone port is excellent.
Updating went well - no issues. This thing boots in only a few seconds - did I mention this is pretty quick?
Full size USB ports, USB C port, HDMI port, SD port, and headphone port.
The SSD is 256GB, but can use an SD card to expand storage.
Cons:
When a card is installed in the SD port, it sticks out a little - should have been designed to be flush.
Although lighted keys are great, if the keys were dark with the light lettering, would have been even easier to see.
Finally, there seems to be conflicting info as to whether there is (or is not) Optane memory installed - however there is an app for Optane management installed on this computer.
Overall, quite a good computer in this price range, and I find it surprisingly capable.

I've had this laptop for almost a month now and I like it very much. It seems to be built real well. It works fast. Haven't had any issues with it so far. Screen video and speakers audio quality are great. Wi-fi works perfectly fine (even though I have an old modem and a router set up separately). Setup was quite easy although I could probably do away with some of the setup steps (some steps felt forced); I think that's more like a Windows thing than HP thing. I have not used the Ipad design yet. Only negative thing that I might say (if I have to) that the battery life feels shorter than I expected. But then again, I experienced this with almost every other laptop I purchased. Overall, I highly recommend it. I bought it for $750 then it dropped to $600 about a week later. Thank you BestBuy for price protection!

I ordered this one after researching a laptop for my wife. She mainly uses the laptop for surfing the Internet, listening to music and checking email. I originally thought of getting a Chromebook but as a techy person, I didn't like the bare bones hardware and limitations. Next I thought about a Mac, but the Mac was at least $500 more and had similar hardware specs. But I didn't want to spend that much on a mid-level PC and we're not an iPhone family so it made sense to go PC.
I'm pleased to say this 2-in-1 HP laptop surpassed my expectations! Yes, the screen does flip completely over and you can use it as a tablet if you want but we usually use it the regular way. The touchscreen is really nice to be able to use as an option. The computer literally loads up in 3 seconds, and has a touch ID to get in as well as you can use a password or a PIN linked to your Microsoft account which is free.
The speakers pump out the sound nicely. My wife loves listening to music at least a couple hours a day, and I like watching Youtube news and sports videos, so it meets our needs very well.
One last note: I had to use this as an alternate PC for a work exercise we had to do without a VPN and it more than met what I needed to get it done! With no hiccups at all. I would recommend this PC to anyone who is not a heavy gamer or into graphic design. It is so lightweight compared to our last laptop and very speedy.
Highly recommended!

Just a little Jewel

Got this for myself as a Christmas present. Such a jewel!!! It was on sale before Christmas and my old dinasor 17.3 HP was dying a slow death (I'd had it for 10 years and it was a Black Friday Special). Setup was pretty straight forward and I used a thumb drive to transfer my files. This Laptop has been great!!! MUCH Faster than my old one and after several months of use it continues to work just fine. I thought I would miss the larger screen of my old HP, well I do at times, but this is so much lighter and feels so much more portable that it makes up for the smaller screen. I do miss the numbers keypad, but again a trade off for the smaller size and lighter weight. When at home, I use an HDMI Cable to use my 70" flatscreen as my monitor and have a remote mouse and keyboard. This was easy to set up as well and is easy to disconnect and take the laprop with me. Overall I have been very pleased with this purchase and once again have been pleased with buying HP.

Very fast reliable laptop for home use. Am not a gamer but noticeable change in speed from my previous HP laptop which was three years old. Quick to charge and very good battery life. Touch screen is great. Setup was also extremely easy. Extremeely lighweight. Love my Surface that I use as a work computer for the detachable screen but this is a great compact lightweight home laptop.

Purchased after a recommendation from a friend, and so far this laptop packs a punch for a great value. With a super sleek design and the speed of the SSD, everything from browsing to moderate tasks like gaming and running software seems to go without a hitch. The only downsides I have found so far are the fan, which can get pretty loud when multitasking, and the battery life does deplete quicker than I'd like. When on sale though, this laptop is perfect for light to moderate computing needs.

Initially around $600 I was a bit reluctant to spend on this laptop but Best Buy's Student Deal got me a $100 discount and all of a sudden this laptop was a bargain for $500. The speed, screen resolution, touch, 360 degree folding absolutely everything is spot on except for the battery life. I haven't tried gaming yet but I am pretty sure the battery will give up within 4 hours of game time. But overall it is the best buy.
