Customers are saying
Customers are enthusiastic about the Smart Tank Plus 551 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer's print quality, ease of use, and straightforward setup. Many appreciate its compact size and reliable wireless connectivity, enabling convenient printing from anywhere in the home. However, some customers find the price to be relatively high and express concerns about the printer's small paper tray and occasional paper jams. Overall, the positive feedback on printing and ease of use outweighs the negative comments regarding cost and paper handling.

Printer
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for a replacement. The only issue is the ink replacement. I would prefer ink cartridges, instead of filling the cartridges with bottled ink.

Need to be tech savvy to even install this printer
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently bought this and my only complaint is how slow it prints considering it was such an expensive printer and how it doesn't have a touch screen on the printer for you to read. Printer comes with super clear instructions. You will need to buy a specific USB cord to plug the printer into your computer, so your computer can locate the printer for installation for 1 minute (since it doesn't have a touch screen on the printer to connect your wifi and what not). I'd suggest to be a bit tech savvy or have a relative that is. I also read online, that you have to use these types of printers often or the ink can dry up and cause your printer to jam. So I print for fun every 2 days at least to make sure it's going to use. For one set of ink bottles, its advertised that you can print up to 8000 times before you run out of ink. I originally wanted an Epson printer but the Best Buy I was at had no Epsons in stock and I wanted to leave the story with a new printer in my hands. I would not recommend this specific printer. But these smart tank ink printers are super cool cause you only have to buy ink every 1-2 years.

Great and reliable printer.
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my favorite printer. It does everything, from printing photos to every day printing. It is on the spender side, but love the way it prints and the fact it has separate ink becuase it gives the stuff you are printing higher quality.

Ink Tanks Are Wonderful but...
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ink is easy to put into the tanks. There are also print cartridges to be installed. Unlike other HP printers, the top doesnt lift open so you are working inside the printer from the front. I found them difficult to snap into place from that position. This printer seems to make more noise to get ready to print than other HP printers. Scan: works great but this model doesn't have a feeder.

A Good Quality Printer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The HP Smart Tank Plus 551 is part of HP's newest all-in-one lineup. Its already got alot of competition in this market. I think it holds up fairly well against the competition! It measures around 17.6 X 14.7 X 6.2 inches (WXDXH). It measures around 11.3 pounds. To provide some context to these numbers, it really is small and light compared to its competition. I noticed it immediately when taking it out of the box. The design does not stick out but it isn't exactly directed towards interior design. It will fit well into any office or home setting with its small footprint. Setup was really easy. Connecting it to my wifi network was no problem at all. I personally prefer to just print with a USB cable but whether wireless or wired, there was no problem printing. Connections were reliable as well. I really liked the touch screen control panel. Of note, you must also install the printheads before first usage. It is not just plug and play. Admittedly, this part was not intuitive and had me looking hard at the manual to complete installation. Once you get past this, you have to fill them with ink. This process reminded me alot of the EcoTank printers from Epson. It was easy and did not create a mess. I will warn you to be careful so as not to pour the wrong ink color into its cartridge. Unlike the EcoTank, this process was not foolproof. That will really mess everything up... Now to the actual printing. HP reports a print speed of about 11 ppm. My home usage was consistent with that. For context, it is not the absolute slowest but it is slow compared to competitors. For more complicated things with graphics and powerpoints, it was significantly slower. It probably came closer to 4-5 ppm. This is indeed very slow. Speed is not its strength. The printing quality is great. I actually think it is rare for printers to NOT have good printing quality in this day and age. No complaints with the color and detail. Texts were crisp. Even the few photos that I tried came out with good detail, colors, and minor graininess. Unfortunately, duplex printing is manual which is to be expected given its small footprint. The cost per page of the Smart Tank Plus 551 comes out to be 0.3 cents per black page and 0.9 cents per color page. This is extremely cheap. They claim the included bottles have two years worth of ink. Before you go buying this based on the cheap operating cost, you have to consider the pretty big upfront cost of buying the printer. These kinds of printer are only worth it if you print a lot to justify the cheap cost per page. Pros Small footprint. 2 year ink supply included with printer. Cheap per page cost. Great print quality. Cons Setup can be a hassle No foolproof mechanism for ink filling Slow print speed Low capacity Manual duplex With such a saturated market of printers, it is a good printer but does not pop.

Lifesaver
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my college classes. It is so much more efficient vs buying the cartridges (Which sometimes cost more than the printer itself!!!). The quality of the pages are phenomenal & the printer hasn’t given me any problems what so ever.

Solid printer
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent printer and love the tank capacity. The ink can be messy if not handled properly. I’m not a fan of the app but it works great from any device including phone, tablet, PC or Chromebook that I struggled with compatibility in the past.

Awesome!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Color print quality isn’t all there if you want to use it for graphics but it works very well. I use it in my tattoo shop daily to print out clean stencils and it has not disappointed. I already have about 150 prints and it’s still going strong that ink tank is what I have needed for a very long time. Innis C (@bigpops_tattoos)

More than capable home printer!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This printer has been serving double duty for my wife and I. Between work documents and home prints, we have worked it beyond what I thought it was designed for. I've been impressed with the consistency of the printed pages.

Hp smart tank 551
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My HP smart tank. Hey it works lots better than the HP I purchased A year ago. This one actually prints. The other on printed half the word. Maybe too half. Also like the separate tanks for each color. Might save money
