Customers are saying

Customers are enthusiastic about the Smart Tank Plus 551 Wireless All-In-One Inkjet Printer's print quality, ease of use, and straightforward setup. Many appreciate its compact size and reliable wireless connectivity, enabling convenient printing from anywhere in the home. However, some customers find the price to be relatively high and express concerns about the printer's small paper tray and occasional paper jams. Overall, the positive feedback on printing and ease of use outweighs the negative comments regarding cost and paper handling.

This is the best printer!, it’s really good, the ink last for ever, really worth the money, the only down side is that it doesn't print double sided by it self, you have to do it manually

This is a nice printer! More than I was initially planning to spend, but with the current chip shortage, didn’t have many to pick from. Our salesman, Dustin found the last printer in the store. He went above and beyond!

When it works properly, it does a good job, but the HP 7510 I replaced was better. The directions were slightly better than hieroglyphics, apparently drawn by someone with poor English skills. It has frequently lost the wi-fi connection and yesterday I seriously considered giving it a rating with my 12 gauge. I like the refillable ink reservoir. I tried calling Best Buy to see what it would cost to have the Geek Squad come to my house, but gave up after 30 minutes on hold. A related complaint was that because I bought the extended warranty, my birthday discount was applied to the warranty rather than the printer. I complained about this and was told someone would get back to me within five business days, but that hasn’t happened so far. Go back to my first statement: when it works properly, it has decent print quality.

I really like the individual ink refills. Unlike my last printer, when one color ran out of ink, you had to replace 'all' the ink colors including black, or it wouldn't print at all! That was very frustrating, not to mention expensive. I've only had my HP for about three weeks, and so far I'm very pleased with it. I'm still learning how to use it.

This particular HP printer is a perfect for printing quality documents in low volume. It’s not super fast but great results for small home office use. Ink tank idea is great, as they last a long time.

This product works fine and would be great for anyone not needing front and back copies in a hurry or a lot. It is an awkward and time consuming effort to take the time to take out copy on one page and then return it to the paper feed for the print on the back page. and if you have multiple copies needed back and front, settle in.

We just love our new printer. The fact that I can print documents or photos from my phone is a bonus as well!! With a one year supply of ink included, we don't think we could have made a better purchase!!!

I really wanted to love this printer. Certainly replacing print cartridges with bottled ink appealed to my environmentalist sensibilities. I trusted the HP name. When the printer is working, it prints nicely. But the paper feed is awful. It doesn't take much paper at once and even when I get the quantity of paper right there are recurrent paper jams (using decent quality printer paper and multiuse paper). I haven't needed to deal with paper jams like these in decades; I feel this is unnecessary in the 21st century. My first paper jam was when I first set up the printer and I now wish I'd simply returned the printer then and there. Five months in, I have wasted hours on this problem and have begun to wonder what my trade-in options might be.

      Hi, Chris.

I’m sorry to hear that your printer has experienced frequent paper jams. I can understand why this would be tremendously disappointing, especially considering how you’d looked forward to this printer and its ink delivery system. With that in mind, I’ll offer some resources I hope will help.

First, I suggest you look at this troubleshooting guide on clearing and preventing paper jams in this printer:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06283221

That said, based on your review, the jam might be occurring in the document feeder. If the paper-jam guide above provides no remedy, I suggest you follow the steps in this guide to document feeders that push through too many pages at once or fail to pick up any paper:
      - support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01728503

If the problem persists, I suggest that you contact us directly at +1 800-474-6836 so we can help you assess the situation and find a solution. (Please note that because of restrictions on personal movement and workplace attendance associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, wait times for agents are longer than normal. Thanks in advance for your understanding.) To expedite the process, I recommend gathering the following information before the call:

      - Model number
      - Serial number
      - Your location
      - Case number (from any previous contact with HP support)

I'll also mention that HP printers have a one-year warranty from their purchase date that covers hardware as well as ink supplies, so if it comes to that, you might consider making use of it. You can verify the warranty using the following link: support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

I hope this helps and, again, sincerest apologies.

Everything is great about this minus the fact that it can only scan 1 hand fed page at a time, the next model up (smart tank 651) that is basically $50 more can do multiple. Wish someone would have mentioned it but my fault for not noticing it in my research as well. Other than that pretty awesome printer so far.

Works well, the hardest part was putting the heads on because I wasn’t pushing hard enough. After that all was fine from there . The demand for the item is very high (printer) mine just went out the print head that is. But I’m happy now. Not so sure this ink will last two years though.

I bought this for work and virtual learning. My husband also uses it for his hobbies. With our old printer, we would have probably went through a few cartridges by now. Large $ purchase, but worth it.
