Serious powerhouse for its compact and lightweight class . Does everything I need it to do without the weight/bulk of my gaming laptop. It looks great , incredibly fast and more importantly comfortable to work on when it’s not docked on my desk .

Love the HP Spectre! This purchase replaced a much-used older model! I have one little complaint—I wish it had a ten-key like the older model for the rare occasion I simultaneously work and travel. Otherwise, I easily plug into a super large monitor & ergo keyboard.

Very nice laptop! Quiet and fast. It is a little heavy. If you need USB ports you will really need to purchase some sort of docking station. I purchased a Thunderbolt 4 docking station. It does the job.

    Premium Laptop

This looks and feels like a premium laptop, and its price reflects that. Get it on sale if you can. Great for media consumption and office work as it is silent with the fan spinning up only occasionally. When playing the occasional game it is still fairly quiet and doesn’t get as loud as gaming laptops. HP tuned this for “quality of life” rather than performance as the RTX 4050 gpu is power capped at 45 watts, delivering maybe 70% of the performance of louder laptops with a higher wattage 4050. Be sure to set the MyHP app to performance mode to extract every bit of cpu and gpu power while plugged in. While it might not be able to handle the latest AAA titles, less vram intensive games play very well with DLSS turned on. And when the fans spin up to maximum, it is still fairly quiet. This is a media consumption, office work, and content creation laptop first, and gaming capability is really only an added bonus. The beautiful OLED screen has the PERFECT resolution at 2.8k, where you’ll be scaling Windows to 200%, giving you an effective resolution of 900p, which is perfect for text readability without sacrificing to much screen real estate on a 16 inch screen. I do have one problem and that is the screen rotation detection is hit and miss. Perhaps mine is a faulty unit. Not a big deal as the screen orientation can still be set manually.

I walked into Best Buy looking for a computer to edit photos on, not really knowing what I needed. The service was immediate and they recommended this two in one laptop. I love the ability to touch the screen to do some of the editing that I have to do and the touchpad for the mouse is large enough to accommodate anyone. The letters are large enough on the keys to see easily and while Best Buy doesn’t carry it in store, there’s a pen you can order from the manufacturer that makes life easier. The picture quality is spectacular, and the volume is really clear. I would fully recommend this sleek design from HP.

The 2.8K OLED display is stunning—colors look amazing and super sharp. Runs fast with 32GB memory and the RTX 4050 handles creative work and games easily. Love the 2-in-1 design for switching between laptop and tablet mode. Sleek build, plenty of storage, and overall a premium laptop that’s worth it.

I love the HP Spectre line of laptops. The screen is amazing and they are usually very reliable. I h ave purchased 4 of these over the years and they last 4 years with no major issues. The very first one I bought the plastic started to warp on the bottom because I used it a lot. But that was at the 4 year mark.

Solid screen, build quality - make sure to update the BIOS to ensure you get the updated drivers that enable this laptop to perform as expected. Occasional dips in frames while playing games - unsure if the machine is bouncing between integrated and discrete graphics cards. The keyboard is fantastic and among the best that I have used on a laptop.

2 lemons - bad screen, stopping charging

First one got discoloration on the screen within 60 days, so we did a return and got another one. At 7 months the computer stopped being able to charge (the charger itself worked), and it’s undergoing repair with Geek Squad which takes ~ 2 weeks. I’m a Mac guy and this was for my wife as something hopefully with Mac screen quality and reliability, but clearly not. Other than that had great battery life and beautiful screen etc when it worked.

This is my second spectre and honestly I have always been in love with how business like sleek this laptop looks. The key board experience is amazing. the chases does not wobble and i can easily tilt the screen in at any angle without having any issues in typing. The addition of the headphone jack along with HDMI and a USB A port is really good given most laptops are skimming down on the ports. The screen is amazing to work or watch videos. However, i didnt do reasearch on the gaming card. It does come with a 4050 card but the system is built that the power to is limited as its not truly a gaming laptop. so it can play games but dont expect a full on gaming experience or power you expect from a 4050 card. I am not a technical person so this is the best way i can summarize it. I got it on sale for Christmas at almost half off and it was a steal at this price. I bought it in a heart beat without any second thought and I absolutely love how compact its is, how sleek it is and how well it works for me. please note i use it for work and light videos with occasional gaming.

    Terrible thermal issues. Huge downgrade

I have had so many issues with this laptop. On paper, this is an amazing machine that will do anything from web searching to gaming. In practice, I can't use it for anything but basic web browsing. The screen is amazing and the 120hz is nice, but the brightness does not go low enough to comfortably use it in a dark room and the 120hz can't be used in most applications because of this next huge issue. The CPU instantly overheats when you give it any load over 50% usage, then throttles down to a snail's pace for a minute or two. It then goes back to full boost mode. When using this CPU for anything, I get framerate drops down to 7 fps, then they shoot back up to 230 fps. I have a warranty plan through best buy and had them look at the laptop for thermal problems, but they took it for a week and gave it back with the same problems. I have reached out to HP support twice and have received no solutions from them either. Everyone I have talked to on support calls says that this laptop is not designed for games, but it has a RTX 4050 that I cannot utilize with any program because all graphics intensive programs require high CPU clock speed. The last issue I have had is that the keyboard and trackpad get confused and disable themselves like the laptop is in tablet mode randomly, and the only way to fix it is to put the laptop to sleep and wake it up again. This is such a downgrade from the HP Spectre 15t that this machine replaced, and that machine is 6 years old already. HP really doesn't make high end laptops like they used to.
