Love Macs but Needed a Windows for Work

I love this computer. I am an apple fan but needed a windows computer for work and this computer actually makes me forget my mac-love (sometimes). The pencil feature leaves something to be desired when stacked up against my ipad but it would probably be okay if there was any decent app to use it with.
I have a love/hate relationship with the size, super convenient but also can feel too small when I am actually working for a long time so I have a second monitor at home.
It is SOOO light, and easy to carry around, I have it in my hand all day at the office and it doesn't tire me out. It also doesn't weigh my shoulder down in my purse.
I love the USB drop down feature and the bluetooth works really well. The camera is clear and the keyboard is sleek but raised enough to give me a satisfying click (for a laptop). The trackpad is silent and has a nice feedback, the gestures work almost as well as mac so I am satisfied.
The touch screen is actually a lot more handy than I thought it would be. Honestly the only true drawback on this computer is that the speakers are on the underside. It makes the fairly quiet because... well obviously the sound is facing the wrong way. But I usually wear headphones or I just bluetooth to external speakers. Honestly, worth the price. I don't have any problems with this computer and it has a great battery life and isnt "glitchy" like a lot of other windows computers I've tried. Still a mac fan, but this is a close second!

This is my second Spectre x360 13.3" and still a great laptop with phenomenal improvements.
The fit and finish continues to impress me along with the updates in performance.
Slightly smaller package than my 2017 version but still the same screen size and slightly better definition.
One of the few laptops that comes with a nice leather sleeve.
Highly recommend this laptop!

There is a lot to like about this laptop. The screen is GORGEOUS. I liked the color, although, that is a personal preference, you might not like it. I didn't care one way or the other about the power button/USB C port in the corners.
Unfortunately, I ended up returning it and getting a Dell XPS 13 9300 (the new one for 2020). for three reasons.
1) I picked the HP because I liked the idea of the webcam kill switch and the Windows Hello face unlock. What they don't tell you is that if you turn off the webcam using the switch, you also stop Windows Hello face unlock. It kind of defeated the purpose of the switch for me.
2) The Dell felt a bit more premium. The Dell can be opened with one hand, while you need both hands to open the HP. I liked the Dell carbon fiber better than the aluminum (on the inside) better.
3) I need the laptop for work rather than media consumption, so the Dell 16:10 aspect ratio works better than the HP's 16:9. If you use it more for watching movies, the 16:9 might be better (and did I mention the gorgeous screen?)
Bottom line, you can't go wrong with either one, but the Dell worked a bit better for me.

Well, let me first say that I got this amazing machine in the open box deals for around $1,000. So anything at that price doesn’t come close to this beautiful machine. It runs a little loud when turned to tablet mode and it dies somewhat fast due to the 4K screen. But even then I can go a full day in school with it. It’s lighting fast and the touch screen ability is super responsive. I game lightly and wow... what a beautiful resolution. The storage is amazing and the 16g of ram is a nice feature but I wish you could upgrade it... I’m sure this machine will last me a long time. I would not recommend this version to a friend due to it being so pricey/battery life. I would recommend the 1080p display due to there not being a terribly huge difference.

Prior to this laptop, I had the older version of the HP Spectre with less storage and RAM power. That one lasted me about 5 years and most likely would have lasted longer. I loved my old laptop, but I accidentally spilled my drink on it and I completely destroyed the laptop. Never again will I allow liquids near my electronics!!
I rushed in a hurry to look for a new HP Spectre with better performance and more memory. I found this one and Best Buy had it on sale.
Right from the get go, I could tell it was worth the price. 1TB of SSD and 16 GB memory made it easier for me to work from home and also browse the web simultaneously if I needed to pull up reports for work. The screen is beautiful and was the first thing that caught my eye. I also like the size of the laptop, it makes it extremely portable. The new specs on this laptop compared to my old laptop definitely are worth it! There is nothing that I do not like about it.

I purchased this computer and ended up returning it.
I loved the idea and specs of the computer when announced, the value it delivers at the price was incredible. I got the computer and was blown away by its performance and design. It was a big improvement from my 2014 Mac Book Pro, Adobe Lightroom performed amazingly well, as a mixture of fast SSD and RAM, plus a brand new processor.
What made me return the computer was the display. In paper, 4k OLED sounds like a dream, but its performance was disappointing for two reasons:
A) It was very warm (whites tend to look yellow). This couldn't be fixed despite tweaking the HP Display app they offered. It was very obvious when compared to other laptops
B) The display has some artifacts to it, if you see VERY closely you can see some unusual dots/grain that is in a mesh/grid array. These dots add some "texture" to plain colors. If you load a white background it comes off right away.
I wanted this computer for photography to replace my Macbook Pro. However the display is MAJOR element of my intended use and I had to return it. I hoped it was a defect, went to exchange it and the Best Buy staff proceeded to open another one, which had the same screen performance.
I would recommend that you check a display unit and make sure you like the display, compare it to other computers. Maybe not everyone cares about the display, but I did, it was a major element for me.
If you are not that picky about the display, then this computer may be perfect.

I have been wanting to update my 2016 13" MacBook Pro for some time now but there hasn't been much of an update on the Apple side. You can build a $3K+ MacBook that still doesn't have OLED or 4K. I really didn't want to go back to Windows and getting the latest specs with a 4K screen meant a "creator" laptop that cost well north of $3K. When this laptop got on my radar, it was an instant hit. I thought surely there will be some major flaw, whether it's the keyboard, trackpad, size, bezels, charging connector, etc. Nope. Everything is outstanding. The keyboard and trackpad are at least as good as those on the MBP. The charging port is also a USB-C port, something that you can't get on any gamer or creator laptop that costs $3K-$5K (which is bizarre). I really don't want to lug around a separate brick when my monitors can power my laptop. I was worried that Windows would be slow and underwhelming but I was pleasantly surprised that not only was it super fast (updates, menus, etc.), it even automatically recognized my HP MFP on the same wireless network. Wow, Windows has come a long way since I left a few years ago. This laptop. especially as I got it (Open Box/Geek Squad Certified) is the absolute best deal out there. Even if you could build a MacBook Pro with the same specs, it would cost almost twice as much. Not paying retail was also very important to me.
Regarding Open Box items, the first one of these I got had a very odd crosshairs symbol burnt into the screen. Be very careful to test it when you get it (new or open box) to make sure there is no burn-in. Set the brightness to 100% and set the desktop background to every solid color available. Look carefully because once it's past the warranty, HP does not treat this as a pervasive issue.

I bought this laptop because of its light weight. I was going to get the cheaper version of this computer but we were just a few days into the pandemic stay at home orders so I was concerned I would have to wait weeks for a computer. This one was in stock at our local Best Buy. I love how light weight the laptop is and it has a classy exterior. We were surprised it had only one usb port which isn't a problem for us but it might be for others. The biggest frustration--the touchpad. I have used a touchpad for years with many computers. I have never had one that has such a small area that works. More than 85% of the time (that's a guess but not an exaggeration), I have to touch again to get a response from the touchpad. Sometimes, I touch multiple times! It would be less frustrating and less damaging to the thumb, if the touchpad covered only the working area. My other laptop had crashed and I had spent hours getting Outlook groups rebuilt, and being in the pandemic, or I would have returned the computer. I'm also disappointed in the volume of audio although I have adjusted. I think it depends on the speaker system being up-to-date that is used to make the video, etc. The quality and clarity of the screen is wonderful--beautiful. It has the 3D capabilities. The battery life is good. Give me a better touchpad and I'd be a happy camper!

I spent a long time trying to pick out my new laptop, I am replacing a 4 year old HP Spectre and looked at the Lenovo and Yoga. All had great features. I wanted a very portable, small laptop and so I ended up choosing the newest HP Spectre with 16 gb ram, 1 tb ssd, All is amazing except the camera. HP spent so much on the redesign and totally botched it on the camera. It is blurry, sitting right infront of it. Computers 10 years old have much better quality. Very disappointed. I wouold never have thought to check out camera on the different laptop choices. Next time I will. Over all, speed and storage is awesome. Get into camera business HP.

Very light, quite fast little laptop. Great build quality, good keyboard, almost as good as the X1 Yoga it replaced. The Optane enhanced SSD is kind of lame, the Samsung 950 Pro in my desktop smokes this thing speed-wise. But fine for general use. Battery life is better than the Yoga, but it IS a 4k screen. The most awesome 4k screen, OLED. Insane colors, and bright enough to give the cat a tan. I run it almost all the way down and it's still almost TOO bright to use in a dim room. The hinged USB port is cool, nice engineering there. Speakers... make sound, I mean, it's tiny, there's only so much speaker that they can fit. Use headphones like a sane person. All around I like it more than the Yoga. It's light, thin, fast, insanely good screen.

My 2nd Spectre x360-Love Them!

I bought this item as a replacement to an x360 that was 5 years old. The old one still worked. Just wanted to upgrade. Passed my old one down to my niece who is starting her 2nd year of college. This item is just like my old one but a few new things that are great and one thing so far that I don't like about it. First the new, the laptop itself is smaller than my old x360 by about an inch, I think it's the smaller bevel around the screen. Second, the display is OLED and my old one was not so I find the color and clarity of the images on the screen to be very crisp and clear. Third, the battery life on HP laptops is phenomenal, I never worry about running out of power. Now for the new but not so good, the backlit keyboard only stays on for 30 seconds and when the keys are not being used, the keyboard lights go off. I find this to be very annoying. I work in the dark most of the time and this is the reason I need a backlit keyboard. So this has been my one and only annoyance about my new computer. Maybe HP will correct this in an update as I've seen lots of complaining about it online, I guess I'm not the only one that believes a backlit keyboard should stay on until I choose to turn it off. Overall, still very happy with my new purchase and would recommend to anyone looking for a great laptop.

Pros
1. Looks incredible
2. Keyboard feel is great.
3. Screen is incredible
4. great to use,
Cons:
No zilch nada battery life. They advertise 16 hrs. I was hoping for 10 hrs. I'm lucky to get 4 or 5. This is constantly in battery saver mode and screen brightness to lowest level. NO peripherals. I'm either surfing or 98% of the time using a terminal window.
Do I like the laptop otherwise. Yes very much. Would I buy it again. No, not with 2005 battery life on a 2020 computer.

This is the nicest looking laptop I have ever seen - beautifully designed, great build quality, definitely stands out in the sea of bland looking macbooks while at a coffee shop. The 4k version has a bright vivid screen that looks head and shoulders better than any laptop I've seen at any price point. Battery life for me was better than others reported, 6-7 hours with the brightness halfway and several browser windows up.
However...I had to return mine due to technical difficulties. My laptop would sporadically not recognize an external monitor plugged in which my previous Lenovo Yoga laptop worked with flawlessly. I also experienced a thermal power shutdown where the laptop shut itself down due to overheating, despite me running nothing but a web browser and with nothing blocking the vents. And finally, I experienced the black boot up screen others have seen where the laptop appears to be on (fans blowing, power button lit up) but the screen is black. It took me 4 tries of powering on and off the laptop to get it to boot, after which I gave up and returned it.
After I returned this I resumed use of my Yoga 730, and the same monitors which gave the Spectre trouble worked just fine. Not sure if the problem is monitor compatibility, usb c to hdmi cables, or the Thunderbolt implementation on the Spectre itself. I just know a laptop double the price shouldn't have had the issues the Spectre did.

This laptop is described to have significant computing power, with a large amount of RAM for faster speed, as well as a large amount of hard drive space/above standard processor and graphics card. I personally have not noticed that it outputs at any faster speed than the 8 gb of RAM on my other notebook, in fact, I have experienced slower loading and think times just within the device’s default apps that I launch. The battery is absolutely horrible. It takes hours to fully charge, and about half the amount of time to dwindle. It is constantly overheating, I noticed the fans start running the moment I log on, and the device becomes very hot to the touch extremely quickly. Aside from that, the display is wonderful, as well as the overall aesthetic of the machine. I really like the touch screen responsiveness to my touch, but the HP pen that comes with it is awful. It has little to no control on the screen, and a very weak response to touch, IF any. It also requires batteries, yikes. One of the main reasons I wanted to purchase this specific machine was for 2 reasons; 1) the 2-in-1 feature for the ability to create graphic illustrations, and 2.) all of the tech specs required to get the highest quality experience when working with several graphic-heavy programs. So far, I’ve used the tablet mode once, with the pen that was included, and the experience I had with adobe illustrator was so frustrating, and inaccurate output, that I gave up. I haven’t put it back into tablet mode since. I genuinely feel like this machine sounds powerful on the spec sheet, but that it does not pass the test of any of the features I had truly bought it for. It might be a nice machine for occasional use, but in my opinion this device does not meet the reasonable standards of a graphic designer. I’m fairly disappointed and wish I could find an easier 2-in-1 device to work with on a daily business for my graphic designs.

Had to return my surface 3 for this laptop. And it is a great laptop with exceptional performance and wonderful design. But there is a streak of dots on the screen when showing white background. Because of that I had to return hoping to get an exchange but even the one on display had the same issue. So didnt get an exchange. Cant find a similar laptop with such great design. But will go for it if the flaw is rectified in the future. I hope Hp notices and fix it
