This Laptop is excellent if you have a thirst for incredible form factor and picky about ergonomics. The keyboard is a joy to work with and I haven't used a better mousepad than this laptop. The display is also great and the laptop can double as a tablet which makes it way more worth than an iPad. Great for developers, writers, and social media users. Not for gamers.

Love, love, love my HP Spectre x360 2in1 Touchscreen laptop. It wasn't my original choice, but after the one I had thought I was going to purchase was not available, I researched this one and also had a demonstration in the store and this laptop is magnificent for my use. So happy I purchased this one instead of the other one. I use it more as a laptop than as a tablet but I am thrilled I at least have that option. I bought the one with 8GB memory and 256SSD with the intel core i7, it runs so smooth and allows me to open several apps at a time, very fast processor. The touch on the keyboard is on the point, feels very comfortable because the keys are a nice size and makes typing very smooth. It feels like a bigger computer than a small laptop, awesome. The only thing I wish HP had done was to include a second USB port but I just purchased an external port and connect my additional units into that connected to the one USB port this laptop has. This is an awesome choice if you want a sturdy and powerful little laptop and stylish as well.

I got this laptop for my wife after our two and a half year old spilled water on your 2012 MacBook Pro effectively killing the logic board. I could have swapped out the board for $250 but I decided to use this as an opportunity to convert her back to Windows. As you can imagine, going from a 2012 laptop to this was like a night and day difference. The BIOS will need to be flashed to the newest one. The update was to stop the laptop from heating up to the point it was very hot to the touch. I had to use HP support to get the bios to download since their link was not working. No big deal since they respond super fast and did not hesitate to help. They also gave me an extra 6 months of support due to the dead link on their site issue. After your done installing the millions of windows updates, the laptop cools down to a normal temp and the fans stop roaring. Just keep the updates up to date and you will never hear the fans again. The machine is a work horse. My wife uses it daily and loves the battery life. She used it sporadically throughout the week only charging it once. The pen is a nice touch but doesn't get used often. We like that it came with a case that also holds the pen since she takes the laptop everywhere with her.
Overall, its more than qualified to handle basic work. I wouldn't attempt to do video edits with this machine. Everything thing else, this machine handles with ease. I would take a star for not being able to change out the SSD but with external drives being so cheap these days its not a deal breaker.

This is a beautiful piece of technology. I would recommend the HP Spectre series to anyone looking for an excellent laptop. I choose this laptop specifically for it's 2-in-1 ability (works like a computer and a touch-screen tablet) because I wanted to store handwritten notes digitally (Microsoft OneNote works excellently on this product. Previously, I was a MacBook Pro-User, but I won't be going back to Mac anytime soon. Whenever I am ready to upgrade again, I hope there will still be a next gen Spectre on the market!

This Laptop is actually great. Had to return it once just because it will freeze but after that. It’s been amazing!!!!! Gives you great speed (consider your WiFi too) and you get free antivirus! I really really recommend the Geek squad membership plan with it. They’ve been super duper helpful with my computer. The computer is able to handle 5-6 tabs at once. I haven’t tried more. Tablet mode is super awesome including night mode. Helps in college for sure. I use everyday for about 6-8 hours on average.

Just the right blend of light weight, power, and portability. I use it for working while on travel, back to the hotel and flip it up and watch movies in the room. Plenty of power for advanced use, battery life is great. I get between 8 and 10 hours depending on what I am doing. I think if I turned the screen brightness down a bit, I may get more. This unit has become my everyday use machine, vs my much more powerful gaming machine.

I needed to replace my PC due to Microsoft7 being unsupported in January 2020. I thought I would get this laptop due to the compact size, weight, and styling and it has the Intel Corei7 8th generation processor. Very fast and long battery life. Love the touch screen. It also includes the pen which is an add on with other brands.

The 2018 refresh of the HP Spectre X360 is a bit of a mixed bag for me. It checks the right boxes, but doesn't completely execute on many of them.
DESIGN
This falls straight into "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" for me. The gem cut edges are an interesting stylistic touch. Not exactly my preference, but it definitely helps HP stand out in a crowd. Also makes opening the lid more difficult than I expected as my finger couldn't quite find and edge to grab. The aluminum bodywork feels very high quality and the copper/bronze color is a nice change from the more traditional silver or black. The downside to the finish is it is a fingerprint magnet. I swear it gets smudged just looking at it. So if you have an OCD about that sort of thing keep it in mind. The machine is also very thin and svelte so lugging it around should not be a problem.
The display has some pretty healthy bezels around it. At the top it allows for the Windows Hello camera, but the bottom is probably more for balancing out the top bezel. It looks a tad dated in my opinion, but isn't a deal breaker by any means for me.
The power button placement also took me a bit to find. It is located just adjacent to the left hinge on one of the 45 degree angles. At least you probably won't bump into it.
PERFORMANCE
The only thing to say is this notebook is FAST. The Core i7-8565U is a speed demon and coupled with the 8GB of DDR4 RAM it zips though most activities like a hot butter knife to butter. The processor is far more robust than the older dual-core ULV processors of yesteryear. Also, 8GB RAM should be good for most people. If you are doing heavy duty activities such as video editing you might consider more. The 256GB NVME SSD is from Western Digital which is a bit of a surprise as Samsung is usually the go-to OEM supplier for such things. Read/Write sequential performance is 1970/771 MB/s which is pretty average for an NVME drive.
DISPLAY
The 13.3" display is nothing extraordinary. It can get very bright if needed and has good color. The touchscreen layer is responsive to touch and also has a digitizer layer for the included pen. Display has good uniformity and no backlight issues. This notebook also comes with Windows Hello capable camera. A nice touch and works very well for quickly logging in to Windows. The notebook also has a handy switch on the right side to disable the camera if you are of the paranoid variety.
KEYBOARD & TRACKPAD
Keyboard feels very good, spacious layout, and is backlit. The trackpad is a touch small, but responsive and has gesture control. I only wish HP would ditch the Synaptics setup for the Microsoft Precision trackpad. Maybe next year. There is also a fingerprint sensor that is Windows Hello capable too. So if the camera isn't your thing you have a second option.
PEN
The included pen is a nice touch and I am glad to see it included especially at this price point. The pen is responsive and writing feels very good. I would say it is on par with the Microsoft Surface in terms of latency. I do have some nags though. The buttons are nearly flush to the pen surface making grabbing the pen more of an exercise than it should be. Also, there is no place for the pen on the notebook. No holder. No magnetized clip. Nothing. At least it comes with extra tips to fine tune the writing experience. Overall, HP still has room for improvement in this area to make it feel like less of an afterthought.
CONNECTIVITY
The Spectre X360 comes equipped with 802.11ac wi-fi with Bluetooth, two USB-C ports, and one USB-A. There is also a headphone jack and MicroSD card reader. Charging is handled by USB-C which is great.
BATTERY LIFE
This is probably the single most important aspect of the notebook for me. I am seeing about 9 hours with it doing basic tasks. My workflow usually consists of Excel and Word with some Chrome sprinkled in. Important to note this is at the suggested 40% brightness too. Not exactly best-in-class, but gets me through a day so I can't really complain. Obviously, cranking up the brightness should you need it or doing more complex tasks will exhaust the battery faster.
SOUND
I just don't understand HPs partnership with B&O. The speakers on this machine are passable at best. They get mighty loud, but don't sound real good doing it. Bass is almost non-existent so keep that in mind if you see yourself using this without headphones regularly. Lenovo and Apple both offer a more refined experience.
Overall, the HP Spectre X360 is a nice notebook with enough speed and storage for most people. I can see why it remains popular each year and most of my quibbles are not deal breakers. If you are in the market for a thin-and-light notebook, put this on your short list.

This is a significant step up in quality. I have owned Dells for years. This is like a Chevy owner changing to Ford. The speed, convenience and utility are well founded. The lightweight aspect is a secondary gain. Not initialy appreciated. Very evident on the first trip though. All in all s very positive upgrade

I purchased this laptop and realized that the top left corner of the screen seemed to be popping out. I exchanged it for another one and noticed the same problem. However, everything else seems to function really well. The keyboard is sleek and nice. The laptop has a very professional looking appearance, and is very appealing. Great battery life.

I've been using this laptop for about 1 month now and I am 100% satisfied. It's small and portable with a battery that lasts all day, it runs all the applications I want, and the resolution is crisp enough to read without the letters being fuzzy. Love the diamond cut design too.

Now the only main reason I returned it is because I'm coming from a 2009 macbook pro and the apple eco system it's just something i've gotten used to and that I'm very invested in. And I really love apple products especially the Macbook line. But this laptop is pretty amazing not just from the looks but in performance as well. It'll take you about 10 seconds from turning on the power to booting up to unlocking it with your fingerprint... Display although is only FHD get;s pretty bright and clear.... the audio... two thumbs up.... the trackpad... well let's just say you update the driver and it'll be okay... Battery does last pretty long. But like I said I'm just to invested in the apple eco system. but if you're wondering if you want to get this laptop.. go for it!! it's a good investment and if you have some extra money to spend try looking into the 4k version of this laptop... it's twice the ram and twice the storage. =)

I love this computer. The only down fall is there's not HDMI cord hook up and there's no SD card slot, which isn't beneficial if you're a photographer. The computer itself is fast, compact, and easy to use. Absolutely love it.
