If Apple made a Windows PC...

If Apple made a Windows PC, it might look something like the HP Spectre x360 13. Design: This laptop is made from unibody aluminum, which makes it look and feel very "premium." Most of the body is a matte sandblasted silver color with a few chrome accents. It's super thin and light, about the same size as the new MacBook Pro. Side bezels are very thin, while top and bottom are more typically-sized. Overall fit and finish is impeccable, and would have been unthinkable of HP only a few years ago. I am very impressed. Display: The 1080p IPS panel is vibrant enough, if a little yellow. It's not the brightest thing ever, and is prone to reflections, especially when using it flat on a table (in tablet mode, for instance). This generation reintroduces the digitizer for active styluses. In particular, HP has chosen to use N-Trig technology, meaning the included HP Active Stylus is interchangeable with Surface pens (tested). The pen is on par with the Surface pen in terms of accuracy, latency, and pressure sensitivity. Palm rejection is good and multi-touch finger input is smooth and accurate. Performance: Obviously, this is a dual-core low-power Core i7. It's fine for basic web browsing, YouTube playback, and word processing. It struggles to keep up in 3D CAD software and photo editing, but that's not a typical use case for this product, anyways. 8GB of RAM is appropriate as well, since this is not meant to be an extreme performance machine. The Intel HD 620 graphics are plenty for driving a 1080p display under non-gaming loads. Do not expect to do anything besides the most basic gaming on here. 256GB SSD is also fine for this use case. In summary, the performance is nothing special, but that's what you'd expect. Keyboard and trackpad: The trackpad is very wide, which takes some getting used to. However, the palm rejection is very good so it's fine when you're typing and dragging your hand over it. The clickpad is accurate enough and satisfying to press. Standard Windows 10 gestures work fine. The keyboard is phenomenal for what it is. The keys have very little travel and still manage to be satisfying. I'm used to mechanical keyboards, so that says a lot. The tactile response is crisp and the keys are balanced very well. One downside is that there's this row of function keys (home, end, etc.) on the right edge that makes the rest of the keyboard offset and slightly awkward to type on. Once you get used to it, it's perfectly fine. Backlighting is acceptable in a dark room. In a bright room, you'll want to turn them off to increase the contrast of the letters on the silver keycaps. The Fn key layer can be reversed (so that F1, F2, etc. are default and special functions require the Fn key) in the BIOS, so no complaints there. Ports: 1 USB-A 3.0, 2 USB-C/Thunderbolt, 1 3.5 mm audio. You'll probably need dongles. Interesting features: Windows Hello is genuinely useful and convenient. The 360-degree hinge is also useful. I'm typically a traditional laptop user and was initially skeptical of alternative form factors. However, I'm totally convinced now that 2-in-1s are the way of the future. Bang and Olufsen speakers sound pretty good; was not expecting that. Power: Charging is done via the two USB-C ports. The included charger is compact and comes with a Apple-style interchangeable extension cord and a folding prongs. Battery life is great, given the combination of Kaby Lake and a 1080p display. I've been getting about 9-10 hours of real-world use (20-25 Chrome tabs, Spotify, and some office software). Other quirks: The HP logo on the display is copper, despite the rest of the computer being all silver. Not sure if that was a mistake in early production or intentionally. Either way, it adds a nice bit of flair. It comes with a nice leather sleeve, even though it's not mentioned anywhere. That was a nice surprise. The cardboard box that you pick up in the store actually has another box inside it, surrounded by foam. That was strange, but it doesn't really matter. Estimated time remaining for the battery level is disabled by default, but can be enabled in the BIOS. 10/10 would recommend.

This laptop fits me perfectly. It's lightweight. It has a full-sized keyboard which is important to me because I have larger hands and touch-type. The placement of the mouse pad allows me to touch type and rest the heel of my hand/wrists on the computer. The larger screen model has a bigger mousepad and I couldn't rest my hand as it meant the cursor was moving all over. I would have liked the larger screen but the issue with the cursor moving all over when I typed was a deal-breaker for me. The screen on this computer is clear and I am enjoying having the touch screen feature. The new Windows 10 takes some getting used to but I'm fairly comfortable now. While I like the brushed aluminum finish on the inside as it is also light in color and makes everything easy to see, I'm not a fan of it on the outside. It shows every scuff, scratch and spot. I prefer an outside with a different, more durable finish. The larger version of this did have that but the inside was dark too and that made the keys harder to read.

I loved this laptop. Lightweight, great screen, Microsoft Ink, Fast and snappy. Thunderbolt, Type C 3.01, and almost the perfect laptop. I need more graphics power for my use though and my quest for the perfect laptop is still underway. The 620 video is fine for normal use but barely qualifies for low VR or intense graphics. Video should be comparable to an NVIDIA1060 class or better to really be ideal. In the future, a perfect 2-in-1 laptop will be made perhaps in a year or two. When this happens, I'm getting one. This one was really close.

The first laptop I've purchased in five years. I upgraded because my old laptop weighed almost 6lbs. This one weighs less than three. The best part is that the pen, which is included free, actually WORKS. It read my handwriting perfectly and lag free right out of the box. I have stopped carrying paper notebooks to take notes in class. Instead I "write" on the class PDFs directly on my laptop. Long battery life. It gets overwhelmed easily by multiple connections (wifi, bluetooth, etc.) which causes the wifi speed to tank. So far, that's my only complaint.

This laptop is light, easy to use, with a keyboard that is nice and responsive. HP has really improved the quality of their laptop since I bought my last HP laptop nearly 10 years ago. I did have what appears to be a bootup issue with the laptop, but customer service is responsive and taking care of it. Highly recommended for a scholastic setting. Note that this laptop uses the new USB-C plugs, which keeps this laptop nice and versatile. I'd buy again!

As a special education teacher I move between multiple classrooms. This laptop is perfect for carrying with me. It's extremely light and easy to carry. The ability to switch from tablet to laptop mode makes it very versatile. The touch screen is a feature I use a lot. It makes filling out online paperwork quicker and easier.

I purchased this for my wife who was looking for a lightweight 2-in-1 she could draw with and use for basic tasks. This more than met the need. The pen interface, in tablet mode, is very responsive and precise. In laptop mode, it is just the right blend of form and function. As an added bonus, the battery life is amazing.

I bought this as “open box”, that way I saved an extra $150 from the retail price. Great laptop - sleek, fast, elegant. The SSD is a smart choice over SATA 1TB hard drive. You compromise on the extra storage, but gain a lot more speed. In this age of cloud, who wants local storage anyway?

This HP Spectre is very slim and lightweight. The USB 3.1 type C is blazing fast. It does sometimes run on the hot side but if you give it some room to breathe, it cools down pretty quick. Just make sure the vents are always free of dust. I use one of those compress air cans to keep it clean. The stylus pen included works pretty well. I use it with OneNote to take notes. A quick switch to tablet mode and taking notes is a breeze. The touch screen is very responsive and helps to quickly perform the tasks you are trying to do faster. Since the laptop is slim, it only has two USB 3.1 and one 3.0 but I bought an adapter that changed USB 3.1 into HDMI, VGA, DVI, and USB 2.0 which gave me more options to choose from. I also bought a laptop sleeve case which allows me to easely carry it all for when I'm on the go.

I am an Apple user. I have everything Apple but I need a PC to work on QuickBooks for the organization I volunteer as a Treasurer (Parallel is a nightmare). After an unfortunate experience with the Microsoft Surface my computer technician recommended HP Spectre 360. I bought and I LOVE IT. I find myself using it much more than I expected. It is easy to use, very fast, very light, the battery lasts a long time. I highly recommend it!

Bottom gets hot in the upper left corner where the fan blows out. I found it too warm to use comfortably on my lap & this was with basic internet surfing, not using any apps or software. That concerned me for reliability so I returned it. Too bad because otherwise, it has a great feel on the keyboard, Windows Hello works well and battery life comes close to advertised. The battery drain issue that prior models have while turned off has been resolved.

I am on my fourth HP Pavillion in over 12 years. I am very mobile with the work I do as an independent contractor and GS volunteer. This device packs and travels well. It is the perfect lap size without the annoying extra inches required for a numbers keypad. I am a writer, not an accountant. The earlier devices burned up (overheated) around the third year. But I read that the newest Spectre model has improved ventilation and cooling motor. When I am building a 30 plus page contract I am typing at 4 hours duration per client. So I am looks by forward to the extended life of my new HP Pavillion Spectre.

After the eternal debate between this and a Surface Book, I went with the HP Spectre. I love the detachable screen on the Surface, but the battery life when detached was a deal-breaker for me. I just can't get over how thin and light this HP is. Gorgeous screen, excellent keyboard and one of the only track pads that my clumsy hands can seem to operate efficiently. Battery life is excellent, and with the SSD, boot up and operation is blazing fast. I dig this 2-in-1 in every aspect.

I cannot say enough about this laptop. It is very lightweight, looks great, has great resolution, and is extremely quick to boot up. The one and only negative I can think of is that it only has one USB port. However, it has two USB type-c ports, one that holds the power cord and the other you can use for a hub. It's nice that they make hubs for either the USB or the USB type-c connection. It's a pretty sturdy laptop, especially with the SSD drive. The best thing for me is how quickly it boots. It's ready to go from turning the button on in under a minute.

Bought this laptop after spending time reviewing the competition, love the size and weight, better keyboard than comparable Lenovo laptops I looked at, the appearance of HPs new design and logo is very modern and this laptop runs amazing. Very fast, good for use everyday. I use many programs and use this for school. Would definitely buy it again.
