Purchased this 15” HP Spectre x360 laptop from Best Buy about 10 days ago. Below is my list of my Pros and Cons. -Build quality is on par with MacBook and Surface laptops. Everything about this laptop feels solid. No flex to keyboard or lid of laptop. -Keyboard is the best I have ever experienced. Keys are big with plenty of travel. They are also quiet and the laptop has a number pad. -Trackpad is something I rarely use but is fine. I like that the trackpad isn't Shaq-size (i.e., MacBook) because my palms are closer to the edge of the laptop which makes typing easier. -Screen is bright enough (340 nits) and the picture is very crisp and clear. Also, the bezels are small which adds to viewing enjoyment. Additionally, when brightness is lowered to zero you are still able to watch movies or read documents in a dark or dimly lightroom (which saves battery life). -Touch screen has not been a problem. No glitches so far and the screen is very responsive. -Fan noise is a non-issue. They come on every 2 or 3 hours, but don’t stay on longer than 2 mins. Moreover, the fans are very quiet. -Overheating has not been a concern. Open 20 YouTube views the temperature never ventured above 80 degrees Celsius. Fans kicked in for a minute or two and the temperature stabilized to below 50 degrees Celsius. I don’t game so can’t speak to that issue. -Processor is super fast. 11th gen i7 G-series CPU’s Geekbench 5.3 scores are 1550+ single-core and 5000+ multi-core. Again, not a gamer so I can’t speak to that issue. -Battery life is wonderful. With maxed-out settings (4k resolution; 100% brightness; Wifi and Bluetooth on; power mode on balance – best performance) I was able to watch YouTube for around 9.5 hours. And got up to around 11.5 hours using my normal settings (1080p; 50% brightness; Wifi and Bluetooth on; power mode on balance – best battery life). -Face unlock is quick and reliable. It also works in a completely dark room. I don’t use the fingerprint sensor. Cons -Weight is 4.5 lbs. So this laptop is heavier than the average Ultrabook (but much lighter than 17” laptops). If you are used to Ultrabooks it will feel heavy, but if you are accustomed to traveling with 17” laptops it feels great. -Screen brightness could be better. The brightness of some laptop screens is 400 to 500 nits. After experiencing these screens this laptop’s screen can appear dim. -Speakers are terrible, the bass is far too low, and the terrible is way too high. Bang & Olufsen app improves the sound tremendously. That said, I ended up getting a small portable Bluetooth speaker. -Pen is nothing to write home about. But you can use a Surface pen if you have one. -Two hinges could be a bit tighter. I can open the laptop with one hand 3/4th of the way up. However, I’d rather have tighter hinges than the ability to open the lid with one hand. -90-watt power adapter is fairly bulky (not heavy). I decided to buy a small 65-watt power adapter for travel. -Price of $1,600 is a little high for my taste but I was about to purchase the laptop at a 25% discount. So far this is the best laptop I’ve ever purchased. It is ideal if you’re looking for something powerful enough to replace your desktop, yet light enough to take on the road. I actually returned an HP Spectre x360 with a 10th gen i7 U-series process and dedicated graphics card for this laptop. In the long run, I felt it would be better to exchange 2-3 hours of less battery life for more CPU power.

I still love this laptop, though it's not everything I wanted it to be. I splurged paid a little more for it laptop than I was planning to, and it was mostly worth it. I originally purchased the Lenovo - Yoga (9i 14 2-in-1 14" Touch-Screen Laptop - Intel Evo Platform Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 512GB SSD - Mica) which had similar, but lesser, specs - particularly in memory. I ended up exchanging it for this HP Spectre mainly for that reason - and also because it is just plain gorgeous. I also LOVE the touch screen capability/general bendability of it (lol) and most of all the S-pen and options for creating digital art! It's also excellent for people who want a laptop with real laptop/computer capabilities and functions. It's still lightweight (yet hardy) while being capable of running multiple heavy apps at a time. It has held up fairly well over time (2ish years), though the screen cracked last year (so I highly recommend getting the Geek Squad protection plan along with it). One downside is it does overheat after a while. Though it remains super silent which is a plus.

This laptop would have been the best if it had the proper graphics ram needed for all the products while in school. For the price that I had paid it was not worth it in the long run. Now that I look at it I feel as if I had wasted my money on this product. I have many issues with the hard drive and battery life. Not only that but when charging it tends to feel as if it is overheating and I place the laptop on a set up to allow airflow but still gets really hot. The fan I would say is the most annoying part because of how loud it is.

I have tried the 13 inch Spectre x360 in the past. The touch pad was not Microsoft Precision, and the AMOLED 4K ate up battery life in a few hours. So, I went with a Surface Pro 7.... Then I needed a larger screen. Tried several other 15 inch laptops. Their touch pads were too large, causing my average sized hands to always bump the touchpad while typing. Was seduced by the new Apple M1 MacBook Pro 13 inch. And, loved it! I just could not get past the lack of touch screen. No the touch bar, all be it nice, isn't the same. Then this baby went on sale. What the heck. Lets give it a try. In the store, the touch pad seemed perfect for my needs. Why do I need a huge touch pad when there is a touch screen mere inches away? Right? The touch pad placement and size was better than the Surface Laptop 3, 15 inch as well as the Samsung Flex 15 inch. The UHD 4K gives better battery life than the OLED/AMOLED options. The blacks are not as black and can show lighter under tones when viewing videos or images with large areas of black backgrounds. Mostly when in a darkened room and backlighting above 80%. 340 nits is at the low end of bright enough. After using two Laptops with 500 plus nits, it does seen a bit dim in lighter environments. I do not envision ever relying on the Spectre for outdoor use, it should be bright enough. When using the laptop on ones, well, lap. The backlighted keys show a bit more light bleeding around the under side of the keys. When back is slightly tilted up, the keys are fine. Speaking of the keys. There is a good amount of travel. Not too much or too little. Not loud either. Fan noise is not bad. Only kicks in during heavy load. Even then, not so loud as to be noticed by others around you. Well, there is the whole social distancing thing right now, so who would know any ways. Battery life has been good. 12 plus hours of mixed use at about 60% brightness. Easily 7-8 hours at 100% without sound. The rechargeable pen is real nice. Love the slide out end for USB-C charger. Too bad not magnetic to keep on side at least during use. The sleeve has a nice pen holder by the flap. Some say it is too snug. Trust me, that is a good thing. A 4.5 pound 2 in 1 is a bit heavy, yet not bad. Love the beveled edges.

This HP Spectre x360 is beautiful. I love it!! I haven't had any issues at all. I tend to have a lot of browsers, apps opened and so far it's fast. It hasn't frozen at all. I love the face recognition feature to unlock my laptop as well as the fingerprint option, they both work great. Speakers sound isn't that loud but what laptop is? I have FxSound Enhancer installed and that has definitely helped with the sound. The sound is a lot louder and clear now. I have the laptop on for 8 hours straight and well I do have to charge before it shutdowns on me. But overall it has good battery life. If you want an elegant, beautiful 2 in 1 laptop I recommend this one. I like it a lot.

Spectre 15 is the cream of the crop from HP. This model has the 11th generation Intel® Core™ Iris Xe which doesn't seem to be widely available yet in this 15 inch version. The 2020 model hasn't really changed much from the 2019 model but that is not a bad thing. It is a beautiful machine and very well made. 90% screen-to-body ratio with small bezels is perfect and the Windows Hello IR is very fast and convenient not having to reach for the fingerprint scanner. Keyboard flex is minimal and in my opinion HP makes one of the best keyboards behind the Thinkpads. The most impressive aspect to me is the low power 4k display. It is still plenty bright at 340 nits and doesn't drain the battery like most 4k machines. Plenty of ports which is impressive considering the design. Comes with HP Tilt recharable pen and black sleeve. The cons I have is the dark body does show some fingerprints, but I have seen worse. 15.6 inch screen has plenty of room but a 3:2 like the upcoming Spectre 14 will have would be better for my use as I don't consume much media or game. A USB C charger would be nice rather than the barrel plug although it can be charged at a slower rate through the usb-c port if you have one available. Lastly, maybe, I have missed this function when looking, but it would be great if HP added the charge limit function in the HP support assistant when keeping it plugged in most of the time. Lenovo has this. You can probably change the limit in the bios but that is not something I want to do or consumers in general should have to access for something so simple. A built in pen would be nice like the Lenovo C940s but then it would be smaller and not as easy to use. Overall an eye catching machine with plenty of ports, ram and storage for most peoples needs. Still a 5 star machine in my view. Nothing is perfect.

First the Pros: This laptop is beautiful! The display is amazing. It is fast. I love the fact that the webcam has a privacy feature where you can disable it. The keyboard is feels nice typing on it, but a little awkward because of the full sized numeric keypad. It feels like you're typing a little off to the left. The keys are nicely backlit. Now to the Cons: The speakers sound okay. I was a little disappointed because for such a nice computer, I was hoping for better. The webcam falls short because it's only a 720p. I don't know why we spend so much for these nice computers with cheap webcams. The computer gets hot and the fan noise is pretty loud. Last but not least, the computer kept freezing on me when I was browsing the web. One time I had to to a hard re-boot. I did purchase this laptop as an open box item and thought about purchasing a new one, but I just couldn't see spending $1,999 for the top of the line Spectre that I really wanted. Overall, this is a beautiful computer, but beauty is not enough when you need to get work done.

My previous computer had broken tha ks to my dog knocing it off the bed and i am full time student so I needed a computer quick! Best Buy/Geek Squad helped me determine if my comkuter could be fixed and when they said it couldnt immediately helped me to figute out the best computer for me. This computer was a little, okay a lot, on the expensive side fkr me but they explained the longevity it would hold as i would need not only to finish school but also for when i get into my job.

I decided to hold off on reviewing this laptop for about a month so I could have a good sense on what I like and dislike about the laptop. The specs on my laptop: Intel Core i7, iRISx Graphics, 16 GB memory, 512 GB SSD + 32 GB Optane. Let me start by saying I am under no circumstances a computer snob. If you want to know about refresh rate, pixels or whatever, then this review isn't for you. If you are an average Joe who just wants a good computer, I may be able to help. About me: 24 year old engineer, I don't run any tough programs on my laptop. I mainly go online, stream videos and occasionally play computer games. I do all my more intense engineering work on my work-provided laptop as to not wear down anything on my personal computer. What I really like: • This laptop is really sleek, stylish and definitely screams high end. • I'm not sure if it is marketed as lightweight, but it feels like a durable laptop without the massive weight. • The backlit keyboard is a gamechanger. You can adjust the brightness of it (as well as turning it on and off), but it really is a great feature. • Touchscreen is great, no complaints there. • The 2-in-1 feature doesn't get used much, but I do enjoy it when I use it. The hinges seem extremely durable. • Bang and Olufsen speakers are great quality, with speakers along the top and the underside. You can hear normally whether in laptop mode or tablet mode which is great. • The feature which covers the video camera is great. There is a manual switch on the right side of the laptop which slides a little film over the camera so you KNOW your camera is off. • If you have bigger hands like me, you're going to want to get the 15" version and not the 13". I tried both out at the store and the 13" keyboard felt too cramped. What bothers me: • Hardly anything...except I use the side number key pad often and it REALLY bothers me that there is no additional light that turns on when the "num lock" key is engaged. I'll try to type a number or a symbol using the Alt key, then end up going to my home screen, losing whatever I had on that tab (I'm looking at you Number 7 key). Its a nuisance, but really aggravating when it happens. • For some reason, the mute key wasn't working the first few days I got the laptop. I would keep clicking it, the keyboard would indicate that it was on but I would still have volume. It fixed itself and I haven't had the issue since. I hope it doesn't reoccur. Overall, I really like this computer. I was deciding between the Dell XPS, Lenovo Yoga and the Spectre x360. The Dell XPS was extremely expensive and I really wasn't sold on the reviews in which a lot of people had issues with the computer and Dell customer service was not helpful at all. When you pay that much, the laptops shouldn't have all these issues and if they do, customer service better be willing to help. I was a click away from buying the Yoga online, but did a little more research and the issue with wifi connection was consistent across every negative and neutral review and what's the purpose of a laptop with poor wifi capabilities. I have a few friends with the HP Spectre and they had nothing but positive things to say about it, so here I am. If you're on the fence or comparing across different brands, my opinion is to buy this laptop. You won't be dissatisfied!

The laptop is actually a good purchase. Putting this review after testing it for nearly a month. Pros: 1. The laptop has the best aesthetic appeal. The bezels don't occupy much of screen size. 2. Boot time and processing is incredibly fast. 3. Battery backs upto 10-12 h based on the type of work. 4. The touchpad is much sensitive compared to the previous version. Touchscreen as well as fingerprint reader are also great. 5. Kill switch does its job. Cons: 1. The laptop fans does make loud noise while it's being charged. 2. Although the speakers are awesome, the audio lacks Bass. 3. You can only connect a single flash drive or external device with the conventional USB and will have to get an adapter if you need to connect more.

I purchased this laptop a month ago to replace a Lenovo Thinkpad, high hurdle to surpass that machine. My impression so far: - Great display - Good keyboard - Fast - Great features (RAM, video interface, Thunderbolt) - Lightweight - Not sure about battery life yet - Haven’t used in touch mode Looking forward to seeing what else I like and not.

The HP Spectre is one of the best laptops I've ever seen and used. Besides its slick design and wide screen it is insanely fast, it can run many programs all at once and as a college student this is very helpful. The only concern I've had is after a year of usage I noticed the speakers wouldn't work and I need to restart the computer to get them to work. thats why i gave it 4 stars.

Perfect laptop for school. The touchscreen is useful for taking notes. As a meteorology student I need the number keys on the right for all the math we do. Its powerful enough to do the coding and IDV that we use. Its perfect for a stem major. A bit expensive but for me it was worth it for the quality.

An improvement over my last Spectre as it has a dedicated power input rather than using a USB-C connection which killed my last motherboard. Fast, easy to use, and wishing I would have waited for for a unit with a 1TB SSD rather than 500MB Seems like it has decent battery life... The weight is good as well....

Here's my review -- only had it for about a week, but it may be helpful. Sound is very good and fans are non-issue for me. The only time I heard the fans was during start up, so I opened the Task Manager and disabled programs running in the background. I also did not give permissions during the set up process for software such as google analytics and microsoft to do tracking or set up one cloud etc (recommend turning off your home wifi during setup). I uninstalled the HP Support Center and disabled Cortana and other useless bloatware. In the Start up menu, located in the Task Manager, I disabled everything that didn't need to run during start up, only leaving about 2 processes going. So now it is super silent. Even when the fans run, they are quiet and momentary. This is after I have loaded it up with 3D Design software and heavy use Graphic Design software, including Adobe full graphics suite (on the drive not in the cloud), CorelDraw 2019, MS Office Home & Student, Camtasia, Catia 5 and MatLab full version. The webcam is excellent, super clear, and can be shut off with a slide button on the side when not in use. The only drawback I have seen is the SSD not being upgradeable (Best Buy tried for 4 days to upgrade, to no avail -- so I returned that one and purchased it again new). I solved the small SSD size issue with an external drive for saving files when / if I max out on internal space. But after loading all that software, I still have over 300 gb of the 512 gb SSD available, which surprised me. I haven't had a chance yet to run these programs simultaneously, but running each individually was a breeze. Also I purchased the new HP external gaming monitor to connect it to, and that is truly fantastic. 1 ms and 144hz refresh rate -- great for working and zoom calls and has great ratings for gaming, though I haven't tried that yet. Definitely no lag time with the trackpad, which is excellent. When connecting to the monitor, it automatically switched the sound to the monitor which has no speakers and would need headphones connected. No problem. Just click on the sound icon on your task bar and put the sound source back to your Realtek speakers. I did have one time where the screen went dim and would not brighten. I rebooted and it was fine again, so something to watch while the return period is still open. Overall, it is a great little workhorse and I think it will work well for engineering and graphic design.
