Would have been 5 star save for these two things

I've had this laptop for almost a year now, and for the most part, it's every bit of the workhorse you need it to be with only two major cons. I bought this lap top solely because I needed a unit that could handle GPU consuming programs like Virtual DJ, Adobe Premier Pro, Pro Tools, etc. Handles everything you need it to without too much strain, although exporting a video in 4K seems to max out the GPU engines.....yet I digress. Most people aren't video editors or DJ's who need to worry about that sort of thing. Without question, a good computer. Big con # 1: Only HAS ONE USB C Port. Yes, one. In the year 2020 this is pretty shocking. I had to go out and buy a multiport to support all my peripherals and extensions, so that was a bummer. Luckily, multiports are pretty cheap these days and it didn't set me back too much Big con # 2: Cooling system fans are abysmal. I don't know what the deal is, but this laptop has an odd venting system that expels air out the sides instead of the bottom. If you're running multiple programs or exporting high res videos the laptop (based on what CoreTemp app tells me) this unit quickly overheats to the point of harming your PC. Had to go out and get a pretty high end cooling fan just to do events so it wouldn't fry on me. Overall, great PC. HP needs to fix the USB port issue and ventilation, but other than that just fine.

Broke months after 1 year warranty!

I purchase the Spectre x360-15T August 2019. On reviews I read the main concern was a loud fan noise. Which was not a concern to me. It is now 1/12/2020 and two weeks ago my screen started showing lines and over time 1 hour maybe you can not see the screen do to the many lines on the screen. The system performs fast and use to provide clear beautiful images. There is a glare and is difficult to see if outside. It handles my needs but I am dissatisfied with the fact that it broke months after the warranty is gone. called HP and allow a tech to help. once trying updates he said the cost to send in and fix will be $449. They did offer a $100 discount because the laptop is so new. Also once they fix this then they will stand behind their product and fix other issues should they arise.

    Ringing noise from fan

-There's a very high pitched ringing noise when the fan is on. Started in a week of the first one I bought so exchanged for a new one and within two days the noise is back. It's bearable as long as you're playing music but if you're in a call with someone or just want silence it's very annoying and distracting. -I seem to only be getting about 5 hours of charge doing nothing but surfing the web and on the lowest brightness. -It attracts fingerprints like a monster, on both the screen and the body. -Otherwise nice computer so far it has a sleek design, nice keyboard, bright display.

    Disappointing product

Laptop heats up very fast. The pen stopped working within the first year. The computer tends to freeze fast. I am disappointed with this product. It was my first big purchase as I entered my freshman year at University. There is always a glitch with my programs. I would not recommend this product. I have been trying to get support and a refund for years, but it seems impossible to get in touch with anyone who can actually help.

    Overheating Problem

I bought this laptop new in place of the Lenovo Yoga. After a couple days I noticed the fan was running constantly. It started to run very hot when on battery. Once the fan started to run, it would continue to run regardless it was on power or on battery. Also, the display was erratic with horizontal black lines appearing at random. The video would freeze and buffer. On a side note, I have not had much luck with HP laptops over the years (laptops and desktops). I may have bought over 8 different units and all of them have given me trouble in one way or the other. Going with Dell or Lenovo. I am typing this review on a Dell Inspiron that I bought in 2012 that still runs Windows 7 flawlessly! Hopefully, I won't have to buy another HP again. :-(

    Not worth it

I have over a year experience with the Spectre, enough to adjust to its differences. Even so it has disappointed me in all the areas I wanted to use it. It has very little storage, instead relying to using cloud storage. OK, but I live in a state where there are many areas with no internet coverage. I have supplemental storage I use, but that is awkward. The ability to fold back the screen to use it as a tablet is weird, because that means you are touching the keyboard or are laying in face down on a surface, yet the keys are the most vulnerable part. As a reader for my Kindle and Nook books, it is too heavy to be practical. I liked its sleek look and promise of being useful for different functions but I find I still need to get something else to use in place of my desktop and still something else as an e-reader. It has turned out to be an expensive experiment.

Besides it very chic and luxurious design , this laptop amazes me more each time I use it. I haven’t seen too much yet of what it can truly do because I haven’t had much time to play with it’s different functions but so far I am extremely happy with it.

I bought this laptop to be able to handle graphics, design work, remote work/school, and have better RAM than my last laptop. This laptop has been nothing but awful. It crashes constantly, trying to fix it took longer than the refund period, my camera won't work, it still crashes even after geek squad had it, it freezes, and i cannot use it for my work without problems. All hype, not much different then my old glitchy laptop.

DO NOT BUY Screen got stress crack from hinge

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Within 3 months the screen developed a long stress crack starting near the left hinge. HP will NOT accept ANY screen damage as covered by the warranty, even though I am the only one who has handled the laptop, it has not been dropped in any way, and only twice did I even use it in tablet mode (and then very briefly.) The touch screen no longer functions at all, and I must adjust the screen position to keep it from registering phantom inputs. I had vowed to never buy another HP product after their designed-in ink wasting processes with their printers -- the class action law suit was settled by giving victims a $50 gift certificate for HP website while the lawyers pocketed over a million dollars. My wife has a cheap HP laptop that has done OK, so I took a chance. NEVER AGAIN. A $1,500 piece of crap that I nurse along until I can afford to get the screen and hinges replaced -- but with what? (Workplaces closed due to Covid since March 7 and not likely to open before September -- professional musician. Unemployment ran out, living off savings.)

About to return my second HP Spectre. First time had to returned for replacement because of significant overheating issues. Now only a few months later WiFi not working and Geek squad believes an overheating issue again. Worried if exchange again, then shame on me for not learning lesson. Maybe should look into Lenovo.

    Trash Laptop

If I could give this a negative star I would, this will be the last HP computer we buy, and have been loyal customers to HP for 15 years, we may be done with Microsoft Windows all together honestly after this, when we bought it, it was $2k and it's by far the worst computer have ever owned. HP provides 0 support and Best Buy provides also 0 supports on products they sell unless you buy into the extended warranty. The PC won't play video at all on external monitor, prints only black and white no matter the printer, after system restore and 3 printers later same issue. Also is scary when you have to press the power button a crazy number of times to get it to power on after a shut down. Only thing good about it, is the display, the rest is absolutely trash.

    Overheats and Crashes Constantly

I wanted to love this beautiful laptop so badly. But it is honestly the worst laptop I have ever owned. I don't know if I just got a dud, but I didn't start using it until it was too late to return/exchange.. It overheats constantly - literally got burns on my thighs from sitting with it on my lap for a few hours. It also crashes at least once out of every three times I use it. It freezes daily. It cannot handle incredibly basic usage. Literally turned it on this morning, clicked on Chrome, and the whole thing crashed. Don't plan on playing games on it. It definitely cannot handle Minecraft. It's become unusable after only a couple of months. I'm ready to throw it across the room. I will never buy HP again.

Poor Power Port and Protection Plan Lies

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The power port went faulty after 14 months of only unplugging and replugging once a week on average. DO NOT BUY GEEK SQUAD PROTECTION! It was sold under the false claim that if there are issues they will replace it, but instead, I'm without my computer for 4 - 6 weeks. They will lie to your face to sell protection plans then not stand behind their word.
