I needed a laptop for photo editing. I'm on a budget, so I got rid of my chromebook and tablet to get this laptop. Sure there were cheaper options but this laptop caught my attention from the looks alone. After a little research, the specs were more than enough for me and it should be for a while. I love how fast it boots up and I'm able to log in with face detection. The battery lasts longer than I expected. Although it says the screen size is 15 inches, this laptop does not feel or looks that big at all. It's not small by any means, but the size is just right. The touch screen is very smooth and responsive. It's very quiet until the fans kick on, but they're not loud or annoying. I also like the stylus pen that is included. The pen includes a charging cable. The screen is very nice. It makes photo editing a lot easier now. It's not super bright, but it's bright enough. The only negative thing is there aren't enough ports, I would have liked more. I purchased this laptop and a couple of weeks later it went on sale. Best Buy returned me the difference without any problems, very fast.

I've had this computer for about two weeks and I am very pleased with it. A lot of the reviews I read said the fan was really noisy and distracting. I have only heard it be "noisy" a few times when I was running several softwares and even then you definitely wouldn't be able to hear it across the room. The touchpad has two-finger scrolling!!! My old laptop didn't have this feature and the touchpad was almost unusable but this touchpad is reactive and quickly and smoothly responds to any input. The touchpad settings are also very customizable. I was unsure whether I'd like or use the fingerprint reader but I have it enabled and it recognizes me maybe 80% of the time, it has definitely seemed to improve since I first turned on the feature. The keys glide smoothly and are very ergonomic in their placement. One of my requirements was a built-in num pad because I use it for school and finances daily and again, I really like the layout. My old laptop also had a num pad but it seemed to turn on randomly and was difficult to turn it back on (it wasn't just a simply num lock issue). I have yet to experience any issues with keeping num lock turned on. It does come with a stylus. I have only used it once when I set up the laptop just to play with it. Seems pretty cool, I can see how some people might like it for taking notes or drawing. The pen itself is weighty like a fountain pen and seems very responsive. A few complaints: The other reviews are correct, the processor speed is not advertised correctly. When I open up my specs it reads 1.8GHz not 4.9GHz or whatever it claims to be. It hasn't really become an issue yet though. For running Matlab, Excel, Chrome, and Solidworks simultaneously it does not seem to slow the system down to an annoying point. Additionally, there is only one USB and one USB-c port. I usually have my wired mouse and printer plugged in which both use USB. I bought a multiport adapter that plugs into the USB-c port for my printer which is a bit more unwieldy but it's manageable since I usually use my laptop at a desk. All in all, a great laptop so far. I'm loving the touchpad, num pad, and unit weight!

i purchased this laptop on 07/08/20. Having had it for business and pleasure this past month, I can assure all that it was a wonderful purchase! I am beyond thrilled with every aspect: The performance is topflight, screen is big and bright (thanks to the awesome 4K display), the keyboard is super comfy (and backlit), and the speakers are off the hook. I would implore anyone looking for a quality, premium laptop to look no further. A+.

I've been waiting for this laptop for a while and it did not disappoint. I have not had the chance to explore all of the functions. That being said, it is a major step up from my previous laptop. While waiting for its release I watched several YouTube reviews and it lives up to their reviews. Just the unboxing was pretty impressive. It is extremely secured within the box and nice packaging. One reviewer complained about the pen and not having a place for it. Well the pen has a magnet and can stick to the frame when not in use, so that issue is resolved and it comes with a leather laptop sleeve with a slot for the pen. Screen is nice, tight and crisp (no wiggle and very clear image) and keyboard is nice and responsive although a little small for my big hands. Overall, the size is amazing how they crammed all that technology in such a small device. I even used it while connected to a second monitor to test the battery life and I was able to use it for 2 days with normal usage (coding, watching youtube, email, MS Office while using 2 monitors) before it asked me to plug it in I'm still exploring it but so far so good. My only gripe so far is that it is expensive...but I knew that before I bought it.

Love my new laptop! The keyboard feels really nice to use and having it back lit is a huge plus with me. Also having a number pad was a must for me (I work in accounting). It starts up super quick and I haven't noticed any lag at all when going from program to program. It transitions super easy to a tablet and having the keyboard on the bottom hasn't been an issue for me, I notice I use it in laptop mode more though. I like the stylus pen but haven't used it a ton yet to give a proper review. I love that the laptop comes with a sleeve and it has a special pocket to put the stylus pen in. Only potential future issue I see happening is the bottom gets a little warm after long use. I haven't watched a movie or anything on it yet but I feel that will be the best test to how much it heats up. Other than that I had to get used to a couple of the key placements near the number pad. The number lock key is where you usually see the delete key on a normal keyboard that has a number pad (at least in my case for work). For the first few days every time I went to hit delete I accidentally hit the number lock. More of an annoyance and learning curve than anything but I got used to it. I sometimes work remotely for work, when we do we log in to our computers at work through VPN. I plan on getting this set up on my laptop soon, I will give an update if I find there's any issues with this. Overall this a great laptop that I would highly recommend for business, school or personal use!

I bought this mainly for going back to school, and while it was an over kill in what I needed it for I'm happy with the purchase. If you can afford it Id say go for it, I know it's a little pricey and in all honesty was able to get with with a few Best buy gift cards from my birthday, however from a user experience I really enjoyed the look, weight, finish and ports located on this laptop. The pen that comes include is a nice touch esp with everyone else trying to sale you their add on pen. The webcam is ok to say the least, but most laptop webcam aren't going to compare to a 3rd party webcam. Sound is pretty nice for the size of the laptop, the ports are perfect for what I need and I enjoy having the option of a HDMI connection too. While I haven't tried to many keyboard and unfortunately when I went to go check the Dell XPS, it was sold out so I can't tell you if it's better or not. I will say that if your planning on moving around with this laptop get a book bag because it's not the heaviest thing in the world but with the build quality you can def feel the weight in the materials used. Speaking of materials the finish and diamond cuts are something that makes it stand out, I like the placement of the power button and how its off to the back which is easy to veiw the status of the charge when folded and charging. I haven't had any issue with battery but I'm always next to a power source, however there's plenty of information and other reviews who's tested out the battery life on this laptop that I recommend going to check out. Screen is great, didn't go with oled because I didn't plan on using this as a media content hog and figured it also help me with battery life, blacks are good, colors pop and the resolution is crisp in my opinion. Overall happy with the little beast of a laptop and if things happen to change down the road I'll update my review.

The main purpose for buying this model was because of high demands on the graphics end for work. I constantly use Adobe Illustrator CC, MS PowerPoint (along with the other MS Office suite apps) and have multiple web browser tabs open at any given time. Even with several slideshows open, a couple of Illustrator files open, and several browser tabs, the system hasn't bogged down like my previous laptops had, even after they'd had extra memory and SSD storage added to them. So far, it's a solid machine that seems to be able to handle the demands I'm placing on it.

I bought this as an upgrade from my previous computer to do some 3D modeling and photo editing. I am not a pro at either one of these things but I wanted something that would handle these types of programs without spending too much. So far I am satisfied with this purchase based on this requirement. I like the sturdy construction of the laptop. It doesn't feel cheaply made and the battery life has been good.

HP really seems to have listened to consumer feedback from the 2019 model. Slimmer bezels, improved WiFi connectivity, and even better touch pen experience out of box make this model a winner. I had purchased an open box late-2019 model, and experienced a few issues that ultimately led to a return. The WiFi signal bounced up and down in areas that normally have great coverage, and the hinges didn't have a super firm grip, which made me concerned about longevity. Not the case at all with this new model! WiFi signals have remained strong and the hinges are noticeably more firm and almost silent, where the previous generation got a little creaky for me. The keyboard is a dream to type on, with excellent feedback and multiple backlight settings to adjust to your ambient light. Speakers are good for a laptop, but not great - I'm okay with this. Also, let's talk touchpad! Night and day difference from last year's model with more fluid movement, and a reasonable sounding click when pressing down to make a selection. (No more cheap sounding clunk or bouncy touchpad from previous models). This feels like a very solid and quality machine. The Spectre has handled everything I've thrown at it, from photo editing to multiple browsing tabs, to streaming music, to installing new apps in the background (all at the same time). Meanwhile, only moderate battery drain and the ability to fine-tune performance settings and battery life to your perfect balance. The pen included out of box also seems a tad more responsive in this model. I don't rely heavily on it for drawing and cannot speak to that, but I find it extremely helpful in photo editing when I want to make a perfect selection or apply an effect to a specific area. Having the touchscreen and the pen allows an even greater level of precision that's incredibly hard to achieve with a mouse or touchpad. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this generation of the Spectre to power users that want to do more with their computer. I look forward to using this machine for several years to come.

My daughter was looking for a good laptop for college. She needed one that wasn't going to slow down when she coded or heat up when she was on multiple application. The venting system on the laptop is great as well, the laptop never got to hot. Aesthetically, it is also pleasing. The display is beautiful and the backlit keyboard is extremely helpful when doing all-nighters. The tilt pen is a great addition to the product, because my daughter is also very much into design. This cut out the possibilty of her needing to buy another device for her design course work. Overall, a great device and worth every penny!

I was looking to get a new laptop as it was time to upgrade from my old Lenovo, and the Spectre series caught my eye pretty quickly. Did some research, and it contained a clean anesthetic design, cool features, and contains a solid graphics and processor, and a lot of memory as well. Not only does this laptop have a built in camera kill switch for privacy but it has a pretty nice HD camera. With all of this you have to pay quite the price however! Hovering at 1000+ you could get a much better custom built pc model for this price point, however, considering I'm a college student and need a laptop and something reliable, HP didn't disappoint. The bottom line is that it's a more premium laptop and works very well for moderate gaming, extremely well for applications and software. It's something that's reliable, slim, and a aesthetically pleasing. If your on the fence I'd say do a little more research and if your happy, pull the trigger and make the purchase.

Best laptop I've ever owned. Why-the specs; cant beat them! The price is yes, a little on the heafty side. But, as a professional, small business owner and grad student all in one, I can easily use this one unit as my personal and business laptop. On the go, docked with the larger screen and wireless keyboard, mouse, side by side screens in my office, or on the go. All the specs I needed. And, the webcam kill switch! Best 2 in 1 out there! Touchscreen, pen (tilt), latest software and hardware, Superb quality, great design, sturdy...Not a model that I will have to upgrade soon.

I waited a bit before posting this review to really see how the Spectre performed and I'm glad I did! For the first couple days I did have an issue of the fans constantly whirring at high volume but that can easily be fixed using HP's Thermal profile. At first I used the laptop for light internet use and heavy online gaming; the Spectre took it like a champ. With college beginning to take over my life, I can easily accomplish assignments and the tablet mode is EXTREMELY helpful. The pen can be awkward at first but with some practice I was able to work some magic. While being on the more expensive side of laptops, I think it was worth every penny.

There it a lot you can do with this laptop such at draw with the included pen, scroll and type with the touch screen, turn it into a tablet, and lots more. I find myself not really using all these feature but I’m glad I have the available. The camera could be better and the fan isn’t quiet but doesn’t run often. As far as the charge, I charge mine every night and am on if for about 4-6 hours a day for school and it holds just fine, but I don’t stream music the whole time.

Love the display size and quality. This gets used exclusively at home so the slightly extra size, weight, and regular charging pose no issues. If I was a student and always carrying, I might have shopped more based on those considerations. Build feels super solid, which is extra good when sharing between multiple people. Didn't have lighted keyboard before so that's a bonus. Built in microphone and speakers have decent quality for the many zoom meetings.

I bought this computer to use in college. I needed a laptop with good power and port selection to use. After using this laptop for day to day small tasks, I am content with the speed and responsiveness, but the track pad is very small and I would've liked to see a larger one. I really enjoy the bright 1440p display which is amazing for media consumption. I am excited to see how this computer handles heavy loads with my engineering software, and for the price I expect there to be little to no problem. The computer is a little heavy, but the rigid metal structure gives piece of mind. I would definitely recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a solid laptop for school or work.

Upgraded my Toshiba - Satellite 15.6" Laptop - Intel Core i5 - 6GB Memory from 2013. Love the Spectre loads up super fast. Mostly use it for work and to stream stuff like netflix or hulu. Love almost everything about it except the fan, it gets pretty loud when it turns on even when I'm not running anything. Even my Toshiba laptop never made a sound when the fan was going and I don't think I ever shut down the laptop I would always just close it but with the Spectre I have to shut it down every night or else the fan would go off even when it is closed, But it loads up quick so its not much of an issue. Other than that the laptop is great.
