Bought this for my wife. She misses the old days, of film and being in her darkroom. Surprisingly fast and the quality is good. Highly recommend if you want more from your picture taking than just saving them on your phone. It is an old fashion way of sharing the moment. Portable and great at parties

    Mobile but Limited Usability

The HP Sprocket Studio Bundle is a nice self contained mobile photo printing solution however it has limited connectivity that may affect its usability. I would recommend this printer only for someone who needs a self powered mobile printer. For everyone else there are other mobile photo printers that offer more features that you may want to consider. The printer produces good quality photos in a reasonably short time. The photos had good saturation, hue and contrast but at times seem to be slightly less sharp than I would have expected. To operate the printer you need to install the HP Sprocket software on your device. The Sprocket software is used to control the printer via Bluetooth as well as manipulate the image quality of the photo. The Bluetooth set up is simple and reliable. The Sprocket software allows you to select images from your local device’s photo gallery or from Instagram, Facebook or Google if you have those accounts on your phone. Once you select the image the software gives you several options on improving the image quality as well as possible templates to embellish the photo. You can create everything from photo cards to collages to photo id cards. Many of these same features are included in most phones today but its nice to have it as an option in the printer software. The bundle includes a battery pack that will allow you to print 80 photos before needing to be recharged. There are led indicators on the side of the battery pack that indicate charging and stored capacity. The battery pack makes this solution truly mobile and allows you to print anywhere. The paper tray holds 20 pages although the bundle only includes 10 prints to start with so be prepared to buy more paper and cartridges. The carrying case that is included is a simple fabric bag with no extra protection for the printer. Its fine for storing the printer but I would recommend getting something more substantial if you plan on hauling the printer any distance. Cons: This printer only allows connectivity via Bluetooth thus you cannot connect via wifi or usb or memory card. This is really a problem if you want to print a photo taken from a camera or a photo stored locally on a computer or a usb drive. The photo quality was good except several of my photos came out with a single line with lighter coloration near the edge of the photo. I am not sure if it is caused by the paper transport mechanism or the cartridge system. As the photo is printed the paper feeds in and out of the front and rear of the printer. The front has a support tray however the rear of the printer does not thus the print hangs out of the rear of the printer only supported by the photo’s edge inside of the printer.

Makes great prints. More of a pain with the larger paper and required to be plugged into an outlet or the battery pack. 2" x 3" is much more portable but occasionally you want the larger print.

I had an HP Photosmart printer years ago & sold it, the pictures were great & I've regretted selling it, I thought this might be a good replacement. Surprisingly the pictures are quite good, I’ve posted a photo of a Snapfish print on top & Sprocket photo on bottom & it’s hard to tell the difference. I’ve always used tri color cartridges so when this started printing it was yellow, then magenta, it goes through the process about 4 times, I thought the print would look awful at first but it didn’t. Set up was easy through the app, print cartridge is large & only 10 pcs. of photo paper came with it. You can not use regular 4 x 6 paper, it won’t fit, these sheets have removable tabs on the ends which are great for handling. Ink dries right away but the ink & paper are a bit expensive, you are suppose to get 80 pictures out of a cartridge, I haven’t printed that many pictures yet. Pictures are not real glossy more of a matte finish. I used a camera with WiFi to print these from my iPad , you can also print from an iPhone. You can personalize your pictures with stickers, frames or text, there are 20 fonts & the color & size can be changed, sticker color can’t be changed but can be sized by just pinching. The paper tray is detachable for storage & the paper is hidden inside so the tray also serves as a holder for printed pictures. Instructions are basic, no user manual included. You can use it plugged into the wall or with the power bank , that is great for travel & sits on top of the printer, the charge lasts fairly long. I didn’t print much but it went down a bit with only 2 pictures printed. The power bank & printer use the same cord but there isn’t a Velcro cable tie included so you’ll have to get your own. The carrying case was a disappointment, it is very thin, cheaply made, doesn’t feel like it can support the printer too well & no pockets for accessories or paper so everything’s just thrown in loose. It is a good printer for its size & for occasional use & easy to use but for better quality or large quantity pictures I would use a service instead.

    Bundle Created for True Mobility

Basically, you'll want to buy this bundle if you want a super value priced solution to true mobile, high quality photo printing...or if you're too lazy to have it done at your local drug store. The printer itself does a great job printing very nice photos, pretty much anywhere. I took it out to dinner one night with some family friends, whipped the bad boy out on the table from the included carry bag and started printing photos just taken minutes beforehand. With the power bank, it does take the footprint of a sheet of paper, so it's not very discreet at all. Others around me took note and enjoyed my demonstration. The prints are pretty remarkable; they come out bone dry once it completes. It almost seems waterproof to me. Each print does take at least a minute or more to complete, right from the moment you hit send to upload the photo information to the printer. The bundle comes with the "the first one's free!" kind of deal with enough ink and paper for about 10 prints. YMMV. You'll have to get the replacement paper and ink pack, which is quite reasonably priced in terms of per print cost, in my opinion. From what I've learned about it so far, you'll only be able to print using the Sprocket App and Bluetooth. I use Android and had zero problems connecting to the printer thus far. The Sprocket App does allow novelty customization like stickers and text, but I found the magic wand touch up to be the most useful. Downsides?? The paper tray lid/cover/hinge (whatever it's called) feels super flimsy to me. A couple times the tray/cover dislodged itself from the printer and had to be snapped back in place. I thought I was going to break it. Now I'm very careful whenever I have to add more photo paper. Also, the included carry bag is not very padded in terms of keeping the printer safe during transport. I didn't feel confident at all carry it around in the bag when I took it out of the house. I still give it 5 stars because it is a wonderful value for this bundle as opposed to buying everything separately.

Great portable gadget for printing photos!

I was pretty excited to try this little printer out. There have been a handful of times where I've only needed a photo or two to add to a card i'm sending out, or to put along side a gift and just didn't want to go all the way to Walmart to have printed. That's where I was hoping this printer would step in! The packaging of this printer is sleek (i'm a sucker for great package design). It was a super easy set up. The printer comes already charged and the directions are extremely easy to follow. You download the HP Sprocket app on your phone and it'll prompt you from there. The printer connects to your phone via Bluetooth and it connects pretty fast. From there all you have to do is select the photo you'd like to print from your camera roll, Facebook, Instagram or anywhere else you have photos and tada! It prints it within 2 minutes. The app gives you options to do a little photo editing inside of it, along with you can add frames, stickers and text too for a fun element. I was impressed with the quality of the photo overall. It does print a little darker than the original photo, and the paper finish is more matte than glossy but I don't mind it. Oh and incase you don't read the box or directions, this only prints 4x6 photos, which is what I usually need so it's great for me. The only two cons I have are the cartilage and the paper are a little costly to buy. I'm not sure I'll use this printer constantly just based on that. I read in other reviews it's about 50 cents per print? So you're not necessarily saving a ton by using this to print photos, but you're saving time if you only need a couple. And the fact that it's portable. It'll be great when I visit friends and family during the holidays and give print group photos out on the spot. The other con is the carrying bag the printer comes with is a little cheap. It's extremely thin and doesn't offer any padding for the printer so it could get easily banged around when being on the go. The cords for the power bank and charger aren't easily manageable too like you see on most now a day (with a velcro loop to hold the wires in place). I think for long term, I'll probably use a different solution for carrying this around.

Having owned other portable photo printers in the past I think HP has nailed it with this one. The printer bundle is packaged quite well and helps with the ease of setting it up. It also has all the necessary accessories to use it on the road with ease Once you have downloaded the sprocket app the setup is pretty user friendly. It guides you through putting in the photo paper and cartridge properly and I must say it was easier than I thought it would be. The only hiccup I had while when setting up the printer on my iPhone was that I had to manually go into settings and link the printer via Bluetooth because I could not complete that step through the app. Of note I had no difficulties when setting the printer up on my android device. Print quality is much better than I expected it to be and I must admit that I was a little concerned when the printer took it's first few passes over the photo paper but to my surprise the end product was great. The only thing that you must be careful of during the printing process is to make sure the rear of the printer is not obstructed because the photo paper comes out of the back quite often while the photo is being printed. I would definitely recommend this photo printer to anyone looking for one
