If you ever found yourself wondering why printers had to be bulky and cumbersome, and wanted a solution, look no further than the Tango X. Streamlined and intuitive, HP has reimagined the inkjet category making you actually interested in printing again.

Cool printer, but won't replace a full feature one

This is a really cool, compact printer that works well with say a phone or tablet. Everything is fairly seamless and handy. It does print a little slow and you can't pre-load a large amount of paper like a traditional printer. There also isn't a scanner on this one, but considering it's size and target audience, that's kind of to be expected. You can take a pic from your phone or tablet of what you want to print and it will work that way. Connecting to a PC isn't as seamless. It's kind of a hassle and for PC users this probably won't be what you want to use as an everyday printer. There's no screen and no way to connect it physically to a PC and lacks physical buttons for actions. This is more of a niche product aimed at phone/tablet users, so for what it's it does pretty well.

Prints good clear images and easy to use with your phone. I have an iPhone XR and it works seemlessly. I gave it 5 stars but I haven't used it very much so I don't know about the ink capacity or reliability. It's no nonsense and packs away nicely.

You can print from multiple devices. Pairing is done thru the phone itself as long as both the phone and printer is on the same network. Printing quality is very good. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because it doesn't do scanning. But I have an app for this on my phone.

Printers have been a hard sell lately with nearly everything being digitized. Also, it can be hard to standout in a crowd with most having like features and a decent level of dependability. The HP Tango X adds a bit of flavor to the mix with it's unique design and features. When I picked up the Tango X box, my first impression was, 'Man, this thing is a little heavy'. For such a small printer, I was surprised by the weight. It was well boxed with minimal contents. The box is part of the weight as HP used good packaging for what is a sleek product. The instructions are minimal for the Tango X as well. The Quick Setup Guide only has 3 steps, and the additional included information is very minimal. The printer comes with a nice cover. It wraps around the rear of the device and serves as a pad and dust cover when the top is closed. It's useful, and it looks good. Well, I plugged it up, downloaded the HP Smart app, and started the setup process. The setup was actually pretty simple, but there is a bit of a caveat. The Quick Start Guide instructs a user to just download the app and follow the directions to complete setup. Problem was I already had an HP printer on my network. So, that printer showed up at the top of the screen, and the app just sat at the home screen. I just hit the '+' sign at the top to add the Tango X to the HP Smart app. For users that aren't savvy, this could be an issue. Once I started the setup, it was very intuitive. It guided me through every single step seamlessly. One of the things I like about the Tango X is the simple light and color approach used as indicators to the user. There is no screen on this baby. There is strategically located lighting with suggestive light patterns indicating printer status and things that need the user's attention. I think this simple approach is somewhat elegant and straightforward for those that don't like navigating menus and trying to understand messages on the device. The app serves as your control center, and it does an admirable job at doing so. Well, how does it work? The print quality is on par with my other HP printers, and that's great. Text is clear and clean. Photos are sharp and colorful. The printing speed is just above average, and the Tango X is fairly quiet while printing. Obviously, you can print from just about any of your devices: phone, tablets, PCs. Using the HP Smart app, you can print from some of the more common media services: Google Services (Drive, Photos, Gmail, Chrome), Dropbox, Office, etc. In order to print from your mobile, you will have to install an additional app (HP Print Service Plugin). It also supports HP's Instant Ink program. You can set up the Tango X to have ink delivered to your door as needed. This is handy when you have a consistent print volume. The program has a tiered volume/pricing structure with a set rate to account for added volume. These types of services usually feel like money making schemes, but the Instant Ink program seems the perfect balance in rewarding both HP and its users. I recommend giving it a try during setup seeing as you can get a couple of free months if you sign up at that time. The HP Tango X is a good printer that serves the average user well. It's simple, elegant, and efficient. It's a can't miss for personal printing.

I don't have a "home office" - I don't have a use for one. We use our printer an average of 2-3x a week. We don't need a powerhouse machine made for a small business taking up space on our desk. We don't make many copies or scans where a simple electronic copy using my smartphone won't suffice. For me and my family this printer rocks. Its relatively small and disappears on the desk. Most people walking by would never guess it's a printer. The HP instant ink program is fairly novel and works for my family. I'm not trying to save ink. I just print what I actually need on paper and forget the rest. And I can print for anywhere and when I get home I open up the printer and it will print whatever is in the queue. Whether it takes 3s or 20s per page doesn't matter to me for my light use. This printer is near perfect so far.

I really like this printer for personal use. It's wireless, so you don't have to connect it to your computer with a cord. It does have a power cord to plug into the wall, though. I like that it is managed via HP Smart App and you can print from mobile. It's nice that you can print from anywhere in the house and have your document waiting for you. The linen cover is nice, but it acts as your paper output tray, so be sure to have room to lay it out on your desk or counter. I like the colored lights for different operations. It's lightweight. The sales guy told me the Plus would last longer and the price difference between it and the regular Tango was the included linen cover. You would have to purchase that separately with the regular Tango. The paper input tray is my least favorite feature as you have to load it vertically on the top of the printer. It doesn't have a tray that hides the paper from view. Not really a big deal, but I'm guessing the lack of a traditional paper tray keeps it lighter in weight.

Very sleek compact printer, with lots of options when paired to the HP app. The printer has no screen, but does have a few buttons. it's designed to be used with smart phones, and setup anywhere. It comes with a sturdy cloth covered carry folder, and a few sheets of 4x6 photo paper. It was very easy to direct connect to it, and pretty easy to set it up to work on my home network (which makes it easier for everyone in the house to use it, plus you can enable the "print anywhere" feature, where all you need to do is email your printer a picture or document while you are out and about, and it will be printed at home for you) I must admit, I had some difficulty after setting up my printer. With a software update that for some reason, did not complete. After a few restarts by unplugging the unit, everything was fine. I printed a test page, the letter quality was very nice, similar to that of a laser printer. I also printed 2 photos from my phone, the prints are exceptional. They seriously looked just as good as the photo booth prints. Overall this printer is very impressive, and if you add HP's instant ink option, how can you go wrong. I am not letting my bad update process effect this printer's score, because I think that was a unique problem , and the printer has been great since

I absolutely love the heck out of this printer! Unpacking was great and pleasing. Very solid packaging and reduced waste. I have been a hard core laser printer fan for soooo long and am replacing my brother laser printer with this bad boy. Set up was quick and easy after downloading the app, which was also quick and easy. I set it all up with my pixel XL and started off with the demo page and some PDF documents. Printing was quiet, quick and crisp. Printer comes with a small pack of photo printer paper and I was quickly able to use te app and print off a bunch of pictures with ease. The photos did have a odd part gloss and part matte finish but it created a cool effect as well. Setting it up on other devices or PC's is as simple as opening an email. The included "case" is a cool option and makes the printer dissapear on the shelf. Small footprint is a huge plus as well. I am super happy with this printer and hope it lasts as long as my lasers.
