Customers are saying
Customers commend the Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop for its remarkable performance, smooth speed, and crystal-clear graphics, making it a great value for the price. The lit keyboard and ease of use are also appreciated, along with its aesthetically pleasing, lightweight design. However, some customers have noted concerns about the battery life, potential fan noise, and limited storage. While the laptop handles heat well, these are areas to consider.

Grear purchase
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought on sale for under $500 with taxes, mainly used for streaming and light picture editing. Play non triple a games a bit and they run smoothly no issues. Upgraded the single stick of ram to 16gb and it definitely helped out in the games! Average over 120fps on Fortnite on medium/high settings, connected to my Lg monitor

Huge Value
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking for a general laptop for travel and maybe work with some decent specs before finding this, which can full on play most modern games. I purchased it during the black friday sales but even at full price it's a value. I've had it over a month now and haven't had any issues. My only real complaint would be the battery life, but that is somewhat to be expected in a laptop as thin as this is.

Great Laptop
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have many pros for this laptop and only few cons. The quality is absolutely perfect, it runs fast whether gaming or browsing the web. I can have 30 tabs open in the back while gaming and it runs great. It hasn’t over heated either. The only downside is that the battery does drain quite fast. Otherwise, it’s an amazing laptop I recommend.

HP Needs to Quality Check Better
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this laptop. First off, I bought this laptop at a sale price of $520, which is huge discount of $280 from its original price of $800; at the price the sale price it is truly a best buy. BUT this laptop just came with a whole slew of quality issues since I got it. So, before I go into the issues I experienced, I would still like to give it praise for the things that it did well. Pros: 1. The keyboard is excellent. Great travel and feel, while it may be a bit too cramped for my taste it can be overcome with use. HP does not get enough credit for their keyboards as they are really some of the best. 2. Price to Performance Ratio. While the RTX 2050 is holding this laptop back in terms of performance due to it only being 4GB of VRAM compared to the newly refreshed 3050s 6gb VRAM and the 4050, the Ryzen5 7000 series, PCIe 4.0 SSD, and fully expandable 2 slot DDR5 RAM, and 1080p 16:10 144hz screen (not color accurate, but decent for the price) were pretty good trades especially at this price as an entry level gaming machine. You wont be playing new AAA games at max setting or at native resolution with 60+ fps, but it handles competitive games like Valorant, CS:GO, DOTA2, LoL, Fortnite, Apex really well. The fans do get loud, but it is nowhere near as loud as the thinner gaming laptops that are double the price. In terms of professional work, will handle CAD and graphics design work like a champ and VMs pretty well (needs more ram though, nothing a quick upgrade can't handle). 3. The design. Most gaming laptops have the typical "gamer" design towards the machine, but the Victus is simple. There is no shame in bringing it out in front of a meeting of professionals. 4. The build. It is sleek and looks premium despite a full plastic build. But because it is larger laptop, some deck and lid flex will be present, but all within reason of the price range it sits at. The screen hinge is also tight, it's not 1 finger openable; but that is fine (personally I like it this way because it gives the impression of durability.) 5. Access to the Omen software. This bit of software has really good features for power users. Some features are not eligible on the Victus, so it might just be for the Omen line exclusive; but still, it allows for better overall control of the machine. Cons: 1. The Screen wobble. This is true for all of HP's gaming line up (the Omen has less wobble, but also costs more), but it is more pronounced here in the Victus. It is less apparent when you use it on your lap, but on any hard stable surface like a desk, it wobbles pretty bad. Even during gaming there is some wobble, so you have to work with much less force than your normal keyboard use. Which is odd, since the hinge is quite tight. 2. Trackpad. Honestly, for the price and use of this laptop it shouldn't even be an issue since most of the time you will be using a mouse with this. But still it needs to be said that the trackpad doesn't track input very well and its placement in conjunction with the cramped keyboard, makes accidental inputs quite frequent. 3. Sharp edges in the deck. This will ultimately depend on the person due to their hand position when gaming. But during my use of this machine, it positions my hand in a way where I brush up on the edge of the deck which has this really sharp area where the bottom and deck face meet. It's sharp enough to cut too. 4. Lack of MUX switch. 5. Lots of bloatware. HP likes to separate things into different apps for every little thing. Though got to give HP credit, in that at least from the time of writing this, only 1 driver needed to be updated from their slew of software; and only 1 round of Windows 11 updates to get it all updated. Now for what made me return this laptop. My first of these Victus laptops was shipped to my address, unfortunately shipping gave it a beating and the laptop's chassis was warped and the keyboard didn't function right, so I returned it and got another one. Luckily, my local Best Buy finally had them in stock so I was able to get a new one same day. The 2nd Victus laptop, also showed some scuff. The plastic that wrapped the laptop had tears and holes causing some scratches in it despite being brand new and sealed, so I don't know if it's shipping that is the issue or HP's packing is extremely lacking that causes this. Nevertheless, it was only cosmetic that was the problem, so I kept it. But in the span of less than a day, more issues just kept showing itself one after another. 1st of them was the constant blue screens when using programs that I will be using this machine for (AutoCAD, VS Code, Steam, and Clip Studio Paint). Even after a full factory reset and clean Windows install, blue screens still persist. I did get it to work with Steam games after 3 hours of troubleshooting, but not with VS Code, CAD, and Clip Studio Pain. Then the screen will flicker at random intervals. And lastly, the random battery drain when unplugged and idle. Maybe I was just unlucky and got lemons; but after 2 bad experiences, a 3rd time trying is just too exhausting to try.

specs settings
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The computer itself is good. I did upgrade to the full. I added all possible memory to fit 32 GB and 4 TB NVMe. It's terrible that there are no two slots for an additional 2.5 SSD, and the battery goes very fast, 30 - 60 max on most loads, with no Thunderbolt port for any external devices. Also, the video RAM could be more significant, however. It is a little heavy, however.

Good for heavier use/decent battery
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great laptop for heavy use and college work. I have been typing essays and projects using this laptop, my only complaint is that it is a bit flimsy on the hinge. It feels fine but I wish it felt more premium rather than just fully plastic. Overall performance is great and battery life is about 6 hours doing school work obviously for gaming and video editing the battery life would be much less. I also highly recommend investing $20 into an extra 8gb ram stick. The 16gb ram was easy to install and is just a great investment. If you need more than that by all means it is a great choice to install. I hope this gives a rough idea of how this computer has served me so far and if your usage varies and you need something for a good price, I recommend this. And if you get this at a discount that is even better!

Good all around laptop!
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I admit I mostly use it for web surfing but the gaming aspects of this laptop are very good! I play New Vegas on it and it rarely crashes on me! Battery could be better-have to charge it almost daily. But I recommend it all the same!

Perfect for games and school
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchase this for my daughter, she'll be going to college this fall and asked for something that she could play some of her games like The Sims. Yes I understand this is overkill for Sims but for the price it was well worth it. She can play other games if she really wanted to and do all her school work with no issues. I was able to upgrade the RAM in it and this thing works way better than she anticipated.

Powerful, outstanding value for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Outstanding value at this price point. The dedicated graphics capability gives this little laptop plenty of power to play higher end games. No, it will not play some of the graphically complex games, but basic shooter, most games of the past few years. I did purchase $39 DDR5 8GB module to take the laptop to 16GB base memory, the boot time is seconds. no delays launching apps, the SSD is perfect.

Solid for a small budget
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a decent laptop I bought it on sale so I could justify the price otherwise the price tag is a little steep. I runs everything I need it to I'll just have to upgrade the storage and memory once I have the extra cash and it'll work perfectly for everything I need. The battery life isn't the greatest when running games but it's a solid option for someone on a budget.

Good laptop for price
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Really good laptop i reccomend buying this then installing a second 8gb ram. There is 2 slots in the motherboard. This laptop has helped me a lot as a coolege student and keeps up with my demands. I also use this laptop to play a couple of games and I have yet to run in to an issue at medium settings.

||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It runs really well I got it on sale so it wasn't super expensive good budget laptop for gaming it runs apex smoothly on 144 fps and doesn't really drop during gameplay though I do play on medium settings, though I do recommend that you keep your fans on high or max that way it doesn't heat up so bad all and all Id say it's a 10/10
