The HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop is a solid contender in the mid-range gaming laptop market, offering a great balance of performance, portability, and sleek design. With its Intel Core i5-12450H processor, 8GB of memory, and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 graphics card, it delivers impressive gaming performance and multitasking capabilities.
One of the standout features of the Victus is its sleek and modern design. The laptop sports a mica silver finish, giving it a premium look and feel. The 15.6-inch display provides crisp visuals and vibrant colors, enhancing the gaming experience. Additionally, the slim bezels contribute to a more immersive display, letting you focus on the action without distractions.
In terms of performance, the combination of the 11th generation Intel Core i5 processor and the GTX 1650 GPU ensures smooth gameplay and efficient rendering of graphics. Whether you're playing the latest AAA titles or tackling demanding tasks, the laptop handles them admirably. The 8GB of memory provides decent multitasking capabilities, although some power users may find it limiting and would benefit from an upgrade.
Storage-wise, the 512GB SSD offers ample space to store your games, applications, and files, ensuring fast boot times and quick data access. However, for users with a large game library, it may fill up relatively quickly, and an additional external storage solution might be necessary.
The laptop's cooling system performs adequately, keeping temperatures in check during extended gaming sessions. However, it can get slightly noisy under heavy loads, which could be a minor inconvenience for some users. Battery life is reasonable, providing several hours of usage on a single charge, although intensive gaming will significantly reduce the runtime.
Connectivity options on the Victus are plentiful, including USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI, and an SD card reader. These ports ensure compatibility with a wide range of peripherals and offer convenient expansion options.
In conclusion, the HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop offers an appealing blend of performance and style at an affordable price point. Its powerful processor, dedicated graphics card, and ample storage make it a capable gaming machine for casual gamers and those on a budget. While it does have its minor drawbacks, such as limited memory and some fan noise, overall, the Victus delivers an excellent gaming experience in an attractive package.

If you’re looking for a more specific review on the specs, I’d recommend looking at other reviews. For the past 2 months I’ve been looking for a laptop that I could play some light games on and do schoolwork after my old one began slowing down and randomly restarting. When I came across this, I was skeptical because of the lack of reviews but I’m so glad I bought this. Lucky for me, there was a July 4th sale happening around the time. Out the box was the laptop, weighing about 5 pounds and the charger which had a 150w power brick. After setting up windows and reinstalling all my previous apps I was ecstatic. This model came with a GeForce GTX 1650 including 4 gigs of vRam which is good enough for light games like Fortnite and Valorant so don’t expect 144+ fps on high or ultra settings in AAA games. The 12th Gen Intel core i5 processor is good for handling most tasks and multitasking. It comes with 8 gigs of ram and 512 GB of ssd storage. I’d recommend upgrading the ram to 16 gigs and storage up to 1 TB of storage if you plan of having a big game library. The 144hz and 15.6 inch screen provides a smooth and nice experience. I can’t say much on the battery life as I’ve had it plugged in the whole time although you can expect and 1-2 hours of gaming and 6 hours of mixed usage so having your charger near you is ideal. I’ve seen the temperature reach up to 90 degrees Celsius or 190 degrees Fahrenheit so make sure to not block the airflow and perhaps consider buying a laptop cooler. The fan is noticeably loud (I could hear it across the room) but using headphones should block out most of it. There is an option for quiet mode (inside the omen gaming hub that’s allows you to see system vitals and whatnot) that does help. The laptop comes with a 720p camera and a microphone built it that can be used for meetings and chats. The model comes with a MediaTek Wi-Fi 6 mt7921 which is ok but doesn’t provide a faster speeds as described (in my experience). Note: I’ve seen others on the internet have problems with this Wi-Fi card. The dual speakers give a loud and clear listening experience. The only changes I’d like to see is moving the power button to its on spot instead of near the backspace button and centering the mousepad as it’s a little closer to the left than I’d like.

Review: HP Victus Laptop - Powerful Performance at an Affordable Price
I recently purchased the HP Victus laptop from Best Buy, and I must say, I am thoroughly impressed with its performance and value for money. This laptop strikes the perfect balance between power, style, and affordability, making it an excellent choice for both casual users and gamers on a budget.
First and foremost, the HP Victus boasts impressive specifications. With an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce graphics card, this laptop handles demanding tasks and resource-intensive applications with ease. Whether I'm multitasking, video editing, or gaming, the laptop delivers smooth and lag-free performance.
The display is another standout feature of the HP Victus. The 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel, purchased from Best Buy, offers vibrant colors, excellent contrast, and wide viewing angles. Whether I'm watching movies, editing photos, or playing games, the visuals are crisp and immersive. The narrow bezels add to the overall appeal, providing an immersive viewing experience.
The build quality of the HP Victus, purchased from Best Buy, is solid, with a sleek and modern design that exudes a premium feel. The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the backlit feature is a nice touch for late-night work or gaming sessions. The touchpad is responsive and accurate, making navigation a breeze.
One of the key selling points of the HP Victus is its affordability, especially when purchased from Best Buy. Compared to other laptops in its category, this model offers excellent value for money. It packs high-end features without breaking the bank, making it an attractive option for those looking for a powerful laptop on a budget.
The battery life of the HP Victus is decent, providing around 6-7 hours of usage with regular tasks such as web browsing and document editing. However, when engaging in more demanding activities like gaming, the battery life does decrease significantly. It's advisable to have the laptop plugged in for extended gaming sessions.
On the connectivity front, the HP Victus offers a good range of ports, including USB Type-C, USB Type-A, HDMI, and an SD card reader. It also features Wi-Fi 6 for fast and stable wireless connectivity.
In terms of audio, the laptop delivers decent sound quality, but it could benefit from a bit more depth and bass. External speakers or headphones are recommended for a more immersive audio experience.
Overall, the HP Victus laptop, purchased from Best Buy, is a solid performer that exceeds expectations for its price range. It offers powerful hardware, a vibrant display, and an attractive design, all at an affordable price point. While the battery life and audio quality could be improved, these minor drawbacks do not overshadow the overall value this laptop delivers. If you're in the market for a budget-friendly laptop that doesn't compromise on performance, the HP Victus, available at Best Buy, is definitely worth considering.

Bought this to replace a six-year-old laptop, wanted something inexpensive for analytical, software development, and CAD/graphic design work away from my main computer. On the plus side, it is fast. The screen is nice indoors but not all that bright for outdoors. The keyboard is fine. Lots of ports. Easy to open to upgrade memory or SSD. (I upgraded it to 32GB). But it is heavy, clunky, and mostly cheap plastic. The battery life sucks. This is a good, powerful, and portable computer in a cheap, heavy case. It meets my needs and then some, but I wouldn’t want to haul it around every day, depend on it in a rough or bright environment or away from power outlets. It is great as a computer for small spaces or to move around in the home or office,

Runs everything super well, good for gaming, only thing I would do is get more ram, I upgraded it to 16gb of ram, its pretty straight forward and easy to do so. You need it plugged in to play games or else it will kill the battery and not run them very well which is fair since its a laptop. 144hz screen is nice for FPS games, I got it on sale for $450 so I got an awesome price for it.

It has great thermals (stable temperature), but the fan run at around 50% speed minimum. It does have option to turn off fan in BIOS when temperature is low, but it still kicks in at quiet a low temperature. It should bother some people, but it shouldn't bother most. But the temperature seem quiet stable under full load. By the way, maximum fan speed at 100% sounds rather quieter than other laptops at full speed.
RAM can be upgraded, but there is no 2nd slot for ssd. The internal spaces inside the laptop isn't utilized well.
Battery life is poor and lasted me 3.5 hours. I guess it didn't turn off gpu on regular usage. Battery capacity is low too.
screen isn't the best, but acceptable
I was amazed at its high performance and stability (low temperature usage). If you don't need strong gpu, don't mind some noise at idle, wobbling screen, screen, and low battery life, this is a great laptop.
I purchased open box and mine had Bsod so I returned it. It could just be a bad unit.

I have nothing to complain about with this laptop. I have upgraded the ram a bit, however, it didn't necessarily need the upgrade. It runs smooth, sometimes gets a bit warm when used for a while or when playing demanding games. At the price, you cant beat the value the hp victus provides. I use it for school, streaming and gaming with no issues.

First, the pros. This system is very fast when plugged in. If your use case is playing games while connected to a wall plug, this is a great unit. In windows, the wifi and touchpad work well and it has a decent software setup. The display is awesome.
The problem with this unit is the battery life. It gets 1-2 hours at most. Most of the time it's closer to 1 hour. That's out of the box. Even if the nvidia gpu is disabled, it's terribly poor. This isn't totally uncommon for gaming laptops, but it's a deal breaker for someone that is buying it for the fast CPU and upgradable memory.
I was able to upgrade the system to 32GB RAM and replace the m.2 mediatech wifi module with an intel one. This allowed me to install ubuntu linux on the system which mostly works with some isuses on the thouch pad. It is not a supported configuration. In linux, the battery life improved a bit and it often gets 1:30-2 hours with casual browser and terminal use. When compiling software, it's a struggle to get an hour.
My use case for this laptop was to try to get a fast CPU for compiling that I could use while watching TV. I frequently work on open source software in this way. It mostly failed for that use and I've had to go back to my old laptop which is very slow but gets 4 hours.
Other things to know is that the unit is very heavy toward the back and will easily tip over. This is by no means a laptop and requires a steady surface to sit it on. Again, this isn't unusual for gaming laptops but something one should know.
The bios has very few options and the ACPI implementation isn't very good. It's fine in windows and linux can workaround a lot of it, but other operating systems like FreeBSD and MidnightBSD are a non starter. In fact, the touchpad doesn't even work in BSD. Again, this unit is designed for windows, and it might be unfair to criticize this point, but it's more of a warning for folks like me who might want to use it for other use cases.

For the sale price I got this laptop, $520 before taxes, this was an OUTSTANDING deal. It blows my mind how much I got for that price. I had been keeping my eye on 'gaming laptops' in the $1500 range - those with honestly much more cable GPUs like 3060s, and 3060ti's. But this last 2 years CPUs and GPUs have gotten SO much better SO fast, I was hesitant to spend that much only to have a computer be twice as fast in 2 to 3 years. So, I thought, what's the min I can spend on a capable work and gaming laptop. This fit the bill.
This is bare min laptop GPU/graphics card, and it's not a good enough GPU to power PC VR games. So FYI on that. You need a min of 1460 GPU for VR, and if you want a laptop to power VR I'd suggest looking at the $1250+ range of laptops with 3060 and higher GPUs.
Even before I spent $33 to add another 8GB of 3200mhz DDR4 ram to it, I was getting 140 fps in Overwatch with it's auto-detected settings in game. The settings ranged from high on some, low on a few settings, but overall I couldn't tell what settings it tweaked to hit that fps. I read in a review that people were hitting 40fps in Cyberpunk 2077 on 'high' settings, so not bad!
The laptop runs pretty quiet. It only spins up a bit when gaming (of course), and even then it's really pretty quite. One of the benefits you get with such a low-powered GPU= less heat, meaning slower spinning laptop fans, means quieter laptop.
The 144hz screen I love. Wish it had some kind of free-sync/g-sync tech, but at this price I can't complain.
I like the HP chicklet keyboard. Maybe because I'm used to it. I also appreciate the numpad on it!
The drawbacks you have to live with at this price range are:
1) The monitor at 100% brightness outside is just BARELY good enough to overcome a bright sunny day. I often just sit in the shade, and I'm good though.
2) The battery is pretty pathetic. THose $1400 laptops I mentioned can go 12hrs with heavy use. This can go maybe 3hrs realistically. BUT at least it fully charges quick, something like 30min.

Uses - Work from home and gaming.
Programs generally running - Amazon Workspaces, Work VPN, Halo, GTA, Minecraft etc.
*Pros - Runs well for being an i5 set up and moderate GPU. Light weight and quiet when running heavy applications. Display looks really nice. While it is a plastic case, it appears to be made well. Did not come preinstalled with useless bloatware as other brands do. (I.E Dell). Plenty of USB connections and Bluetooth connection is useful.
*Cons - 512 GB SSD is not enough by today's standards (I knew that before getting it) but works for now. 8GB RAM is bare minimal but was able to upgrade to 32 GB Corsair ram for just under $100.00. Battery life leaves more to be desired, but for what it is, its not a huge complaint. I can get around 2.5 - 3.0 hours.

Great laptop for the price. Based on my experience, adding an additional 8gb of ram is crucial if you plan on using it to play AAA titles with respectable frame rates. The keyboard is great, the 144hz display is very quick and responsive. The trackpad is large and responsive. The i5 12th gen processor is more capable than I thought. I would say the only thing holding it back when gaming is the gtx 1650 gpu which is just okay for gaming. The battery is not great if plan on taking it out without a charger. In conclusion, I don't think you will find many laptops out there like this at this price, and i would recommend it.

Great performance laptop. It's useful in a variety of scenarios: gaming, productivity, and Web surfing. The specs allow for all of these uses. I ended up doubling the RAM specifically for gaming, but I know all the other uses can benefit from it. The fan can run a little loud due to the hardware, but it's nothing that a good pair of nose-cancelling headphones can't solve.

The HP Victus 15 is a good gaming laptop for an even better price. It’s created solely for the price-savvy buyer in mind. And even the lowest priced version can play high-end titles well while still balancing most other tasks that the user may need. We wouldn’t suggest investing in this laptop if you need something with a long battery life or a flashier appearance, but given its excellent price, this is definitely one you’ll want to consider

The HP Victus 15.6" Gaming Laptop is a budget-friendly gem. I bought it for my brother, and he's quite happy with it. With an Intel Core i5 processor and GTX 1650 graphics, it handles games well. The display is sharp, though not super bright. It's speedy thanks to 8GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD.
Build-wise, it's sturdy but a bit hefty. Cooling does the job, but it can get noisy. Battery life is decent. In short, it's a great value for the price, offering solid gaming performance without breaking the bank.

Caught this on sale for $549.99 and wow was it worth it. Not the highest end mobile graphics card but it plays most games just fine, just do not expect ultra settings. easy to upgrade by adding 1 stick of 8GB ram. Lacking additional M.2 slot or 2.5'' sata bay. only way to upgrade storage is to replace factory M.2 or use external drive.
Battery life could be better.

As a beginner to pc games and pcs in general this laptop is very beginner friendly And plays most recent AAA games with ease as long as the RAM is upgraded to at least 16gbs. When it comes to videos/movies the screen is amazing with the 144hz 1080p resolution, one negative about the screen is if any sunlight is beaming on the screen its difficult to see whats on it. Id definitely recommend this for someone such as myself just getting into computers.

This is the perfect entry into gaming laptops for a casual gamer or gamer on a budget. It gets the job done at a great price.
Build quality: This laptop is built really well. Everything feels solid on it and is far more than I would expect at the budget price it comes at.
Screen: The screen looks great. 1080p is perfectly fine as higher resolution wouldn't be able to be utilized with the lower level 1650 GPU. Great viewing angles and crisp colors.
Gaming: Perfect for a budget laptop. You won't be playing the latest and greatest at high settings by any means but for a casual gamer that's okay with sacrificing graphic quality to get something cheaper it's exactly what you're looking for.
Fan Noise: This is probably the only area of complaint we have about this laptop. When gaming the fans do what you'd expect, they get a bit noisy. But when on idle the fans make a bit of a high pitch noise. I've read around lots and it's a common problem and seems to be due to the chassis and how the air moves through it it creates a bit of a whistle. It's not the end of the world but if you're in a quieter room sitting right next to it while it's idle it can get a bit annoying.
Speakers: The speakers sound fantastic. They're probably the best laptop speakers in our house. Easily produce plenty of volume and the quality is great. Zero complaints here!
Battery life: It does pretty well on battery. Expect 3-4 hours doing normal tasks.
All in all this laptop is great on a budget and I would highly recommend it if this is up your alley!

I wanted a gaming laptop for university and games. I don't like dropping loads of money on things. I saw okay reviews for this Victus. I think it's excellent. There's zero issues with speed, zero issues with graphics, zero issues with heat. It plays the games smoothly. If you're looking for a laptop to game on or multitask, it's great and especially for the price. I don't feel like I bought a budget gaming laptop. If you don't like it, you probably know way more about computers than I do and have way higher expectations for how things should perform. But for an average person, I'm totally stoked about this purchase
