    HTC Flyer, pretty good deal

I was one of those guys who said they would never buy a tablet, but after the price drop to $299, I went ahead and bought the last HTC Flyer at my local Best Buy. While it is running the Gingerbread Andriod OS, and not the newest Honeycomb, it runs very well and smoothly, even with only a single core 1.5GHz CPU. The screen is very crisp and the touchscreen is very responsive. Sound is good, but not great. The internal memory is a bit misleading. While it says 16GB, and it does have 16GB, it only allows access to 8GB. Where the other 8GB went is unknown. Should have included the pen, too. Still a pretty good tablet for the price ($299 at time of this review), but waiting patiently for Honeycomb OS update.

I really liked this tablet. It was a perfect size, really fast, and had flash. I tried it for 10 days, but could not get past a 4 to 5 hour battery life. I did everything that was recommended and apps were always running in the background and draining the battery. The price is great although I cannot see how they sold any at the $500 original price. I ended up getting the ipad 2 of course and giving into "the dark side." I love the ipad, but it does have it's limits as well. I do like a 8 to 10 hour battery life. the HTC is a great tablet and I recommend it to anyone, but know it has a short battery and apps always running. The thing I like about the ipad is when you kill your apps they are done and do not mysteriously start running on their own.

I have had the HTC tablet for over 30 days, and at this time I am very happy with it. I am still learning all of the functions that this device is able to perform. I was not able to set it up with the "HOT SPOT" device that was sold to me so I went back to Best Buy and they helped me out. I have not been able to download my music from my computer yet. It is not as easy as I thought.(my computer would not reconize my HTC tablet).I have used it to set up travel arrangements and play angry birds. it is a little pricey, but worth the money. over all this HTC FLYER tablet pass the swagger test. (be careful with the HTC pen, it can scratch the screen)

    Infinitely Better Than "The Fire"

    Posted
    Nursken

To be very clear, $99 more than the popular Fire gets you front and rear cameras, 16GB, BT, 1 GB RAM and a micro SD card. Just compare, these aren't on "the other one" for the sub $200 price. This also has pen input and works with PDF file (pen is extra though). The Flyer also allows you to purchase Android apps without any limitations. I had a surprise with the HTC sense installed as a skin, this is simply fantastic. My only complaints are the it needs to have an upgraded OS, but Android 2.3.4 (with latest update) is OK and I can live with it. Dual core CPU would have been nice, but this is fast enough.

I did quite a bit of research before I purchased the HTC Flyer. I wanted something on the smaller side (about the size of my Kindle) which would be great for travel or even around the house if I didn't feel like booting my desktop or laptop up. The flyer is a great size, easy to hold. It is a little heavy, but that just makes it feel better made than some of the other tablets out there. I was completely new to apps and the android market, but the HTC flyer made everything really easy. it is fast and works great for e-mail, checking the weather and going online to some of my favorite sites. The color on screen is amazing, the cameras work okay for what I use them for (I have a real camera if a want professional photos). Sound is okay for a tablet, but I usually use my ear buds. Overall a fantastic, easy to use product, great for travel and everyday use. Thanks HTC!

This product would be awesome if the price were more in line with the galaxy tab and the pen were included. I tried it and while I have an iPad, I wanted a smaller tablet for portability. I have been going back and forth between the Flyer and the Tab since both are 7". I want to use it as an ereader, surf the web and check my email, so both fit for what I want to use it for. I decided to try the Flyer because of the pen as I thought it would be nice for taking notes at work, however while writing if your wrist touches the screen it quits writing, makes it a bit awkward for note taking. So after testing and much thought I decided to go back to the galaxy tab 7" which I will be ordering very shortly. If you have the money to throw away go for it, it is nice but otherwise they are pretty equal for my needs.

    Best 7" tablet

The Amazon Kindle may have the price right, at $199, but for $100 more - at Best Buy only - the Flyer gives you SO much more. Great cameras, (Kindle has none), the full Android Market, (Kindle is very limited), great screen, (Kindle can be unresponsive or slow to respond sometimes), pen, (Kindle has none - though I don't care about this feature, personally), and the excellent HTC Sense user interface and its widgets. Also MUCH more memory and you can use microSD cards for even more memory. This really is the best 7" tablet available right now. There is the 7" Samsung Galaxy Tab 7+, or whatever, but that's another $100, or more. My only complaint? Its white. I don't like white. Black would have made the screen pop more. A huge mistake, in my opinion. But others may not care.

I've been searching around for weeks trying to find the best tablet for me... I ordered Blackberry Playbook after the price was dropped. While I was waiting, I decided to try HTC Flyer tablet. I found it fast and smooth .. I cancelled my other order and switched to HTC Flyer. It is a great tablet and I am really enjoying it so far Definitely, you will find some people liking ipad or Acer tablets.. and that is their choice... but if you want to enjoy a fast 7" tablet with a browser that looks like your PC browser with a very nice stylus..this is your choice!!

HTC has successfully managed to bring the Sense experience to their Flyer tablet. I have had five other 'leading' brand tablets, and all were lacking what Sense brings to the whole experience. The tablet is a good size, has a great screen, and has very good WiFi that doesn't kill the battery when idle. After having the tablet, and traveling with it a couple times, I have no irritations or major issues. I have only a couple minor wish list items. I'd like the pen to have more capabilities and it would be nice if there was more on-board memory. .

This tablet is fast, runs games, and all software Ive downloaded from market. The battery life excellant. The construction is solid. I got the stylus free when I purchased the tablet, and also bought screen protector. The screen protector inhibits the stylus abit. Overall the tablet is perfect. The price is a little high, but seems like something good always cost a bit more. I also have the ipad --- totally overpriced and sucks compared to this tablet. I wasted my money their. Money well spent.

After much research, and after the price drop, I finally settled on the HTC Flyer, and I am so glad I did. This little tablet is fast and filled with great features. I am able to stream Netflix with no lag, read my Kindle books, watch YouTube, play Angry Birds and lots of other games, and surf the net (web pages load fast and have flash support!). For $299 this is awesome! Does everything the Ipad can do, and then some! (for my needs anyway) I highly recommend it.

I bought this for business; the ability synch soft-copy notes with an audio recording is something I've waited a long time for. Easy to use, well thought out, very responsive. I love the size, it's very easy to carry. I was concerned that on a 7" screen I'd have trouble clicking links and tiny icons accurately with my fingers - not a problem at all. I bought the Scribe pen (elsewhere) and am glad I did - highlighting and saving notes on presentation slides is awesome.

I been comparing all the tablet out on the market. apple, zoom samsung, blackberry, acer all tablets has its own specialty so its hard to pick one. ipad is nice but its too big for me. I work in the hospital and its too obvious if I use it. Htc so far and blackberry is the best 7 inches tablet. so I bought htc flyer and it was a good decission. videos awsome. best in making notes and charting coz of the pen and web surfing is fast. multi tasking is nice. cant sa anything more coz it handles pretty good.. only thing i ask for is hdmi or usb port. and a netflix...

    Pre-order in question

    Posted
    SPrime

I pre-ordered the HTC Flyer on the first day that it was available and have since watched the forums bat around the subject of the inclusion or exclusion of the pen, but have seen nothing directly from Best Buy addressing the issue. I challenge that showing what is included in the box does not address the issue. The Flyer has been marketed based on the “Scribe Technology” and this is what sold me on an overpriced tablet with a single core processor, no led flash, and Android 2.4. With the pen priced separately, I am seriously questioning my pre-order and would like to see Best Buy address the pen issue, before the ship date. Without the pen, my rating is one star.

Average Without Scribe ..... ??? (It's in the Pen)

    Posted
    GameDiversity

The HTC Flyer is unique among tablets due to the scribe technology. If you are a student or business person that prefers writing notes and communicating concepts via diagrams and pictures, the scribe technology is made for you! Because the note taking technology syncs with Evernote and your calendar (along with voice and video), this tablet can really get you organized. If you are also a gamer, it includes OnLive. Plus, you get HTC Watch and other features. However, without the scribe technology (the pen) this is a pretty ordinary, or even below average product, because it is not dual-core or shipping with Honeycomb.

    Lets Take another look

I have owned several tablets and I think I might be able to help all my best buy friends. 1. Apple is very self centered and the Android operating system has jumped from a phone only operating system to a workable tablet system but remember still a work in progress. 2. Those wanting a stylus that won't break the bank, there are several internet sites that sell a case with a keyboard and a fold out prop up stand that blows the doors off the apple case at a reasonable price with stylus. The Stylus's in those cases are not metal but they do the job. P.S. I Talked to an Apple rep and they said never on a Dev of 7inch

Great tablet if you want it small

    Posted
    Harcel

I definitely wanted something smaller than 10". The capabilities offered by the Magic Pen are just awesome (but it should just be standard included!) and the battery life (regular use: 3 days, very intensive use: full day) is very good. I like the screen and operating system. Although there is only a single core processor, this does not seem to make any feature of the tablet flaky/slow. Too bad that the pdf viewer does not support a thin line pen, that's really the only negative point about the Flyer. I love it!

Highly, highly anticipated *productivity* device. Productivity is the key here. A pen that allows note-taking on the fly (on top of anything you can see on the screen), sync with Evernote, dual cameras, updated HTC Sense UI, and HTC's excellent build quality. Definitely worth a look for business professionals who prefer the smaller form-factor, and pen input, and who want something that fits well somewhere between the Blackberry PlayBook, and the Motorola Xoom. It's something like an updated Galaxy Tab. If you like the Tab, but are ready for an upgrade, this is the device to look at.

It pretty much has become an ipad killer. Once the price dropped to $299.99 it killed it. I use to be an apple fanboy, but htc definately did their homework on this one. Android just gets better. This tablet is small but amazing. Great sound quality and responsive keyboard combines with the amazingly customizable world of droid apps. Battery life is good, and the only negative is the expensive "not included" stylus.
