    Decent unlocked phone but not the best

    TLDR: good, not great phone with some really bad freezing hitches. I bought this phone in July 2017 as my Samsung Note 5 started to break down. I didn't want bloatware nor wanted to go to my carrier's store and have to have a monthly plan for the phone (and deal with their customer service reps) so I decided on this phone. First, I'll say the storage comes in handy and the phone is as advertised. My biggest complaints with the phones are in this order: 1) Screen resolution 2) Camera 3) RAM/OS The screen resolution is 1080p, which should be standard, but compared to my Note 5, the colors look too faded out and worn. There's a dullness to the pictures that can be jarring and there's not enough lighting in the background so to me everything looks flat. The camera works as intended, but does not take the greatest of pictures. Be prepared for that if you want to take family pics. The RAM/OS is the single biggest issue I have with this phone. The phone started working very fast, but if I switch between apps, or go from one app to the home screen, the phone slows down so much that it literally will FREEZE in between. I'm talking like 10-20 seconds at least. If I go from Youtube and try to go back to the home screen, the phone will just stay frozen and I have to either push the power button to unlock the screen again, or wait until it refreshes. This review is long, but in summary, it's a good unlocked phone if you don't wanna deal with the Samsungs or LG's. But I wouldn't recommend this phone, especially with a hefty price tag like this one has.

    Overall good, but...

    Just bought Huawei Mate 9 this afternoon from best buy. Overall experience with it is good. Would not repeat the good points here, since you would find them in a lot of review articles somewhere else. However, I do have a grudge. The Email app doesn't work. I tried to set up my yahoo email account with the Email app, filling with my correct email username and password, but it always says the IMAP/SMTP server is disabled. I tried to go over all the possible places to set up/enable IMAP/SMTP servers, all in vain. Finally, I called the company's customer service. The customer service person told me that it is an known issue. Currently, the Email app is good for nothing, except for gmail. Yet, I have the generic gmail app right from google, no need to configure it in Email app. I want to use the Email app to configure and set up my other email accounts. But this is right the area where Email app fails. Worse, I asked about if the developers have a plan for a possible fix for this "known issue". The customer service representative told me he didn't know of any plan to fix it. The last straw on the camel's back is that, I can accept the fact that the app doesn't work. But, if it doesn't work, at least please give me an option to uninstall it. Regrettably, it can't be uninstalled.

    I bought this phone after doing a lot of research. The camera was ok, compared to the Pixel XL phone that my wife and I use for pictures. I do think the pictures are more natural but lacking in low light. The phone is fast that i was impressed with. The sound is really good, I went in to a Best Buy store to check it out. The display was ok. I know that if Huawei makes it 4k that it would be a drain on the battery. When we watched Netflix on it it was a bit grainy. I did think it was my internet connection but that was not the issue. The software that it has it ok takes some getting used to but a cross between Android and IOS. I liked that feature. I do hope that huawei makes a phablet phone that has a 4K screen and maybe work on the low light camera issue. Also when I shot video it seemed grainy in some areas. I am awaiting to see what they plan on releasing this year. I do think their phone design is nice and if the screen and camera had been better I would have kept. The think is there are not a lot of phablet phones out there.

    Great size phone with good specs

    This was a gift for my girlfriend, but at the time of purchase no problem taking pictures until she was on a weekend trip in Puerto Rico and most of her pictures and videos images were corrupted. Manufacturer said there's an update coming out 3 weeks, but it's too late. We had to return the phone, because she didn't want it anymore. Got an iPhone 6S Plus instead and she enjoys the phone a lot better. If they fix the picture saving issues it would be a good phone I would recommend this phone.

    All is well except the Mate 9 I have won't connect to a couple of devices that it is paired to. My other phone has no problem connecting to the same things. The Mate 9 will connect to my bluetooth ear buds and another bluetooth device ok but not the car or this odbII car scan tool code reader which my other phone also has no problem connecting to. I have done all the trouble shooting on the planet and still the same connection issue. And Huawei support was useless.

    Camera is not good at all

    I had a samsung galazy s7 edge before this and this camera is supposed to be better. This camera is definitely not as good as my samsung. The photos from this camera come out grainy if you zoom in. The battery life is the only thing good about this phone

    Found it extremely fast but a bit quirky. Not many cases available so I only used for one week and then returned. The phone should be priced lower since it lcd and I did not find anything outstanding about phone.

    I returned this phone because there was no automatic notification area. On my Samsung, I could review notifications without logging in and clicking on anything. Apps like Pandora would provide controls so you would not have to unlock your phone.

    Great, snappy performance. Capable camera. Beautiful screen. It's a shame security updates for Android aren't kept up to date on this device. It's still on the April 2017 Security patch, and it's almost November.

    I liked the physical side of it. Nice and big. The way I like. But too bad, had to return it. During a call, person, on the other side, could hear me, but I could not hear them on and off.
