I’m obsessed with the Huupe Smart Mini Basketball console! This thing is next-level fun. The build is super sleek, it feels high-end, and the interactive features blew me away. I can shoot hoops solo, challenge friends, and even track my stats—and everything works flawlessly. It’s way more than just a game; it’s my new go-to stress reliever and mini workout all in one. Whether I’ve got five minutes or an hour, I can’t stop playing. Total game-changer for my home setup!

Love this thing. It gets pretty addicting. The huupe Royale is real fun to play against other players online. Better than just sitting around playing video games all day.

As a big NBA fan, I had to try out the Huupe Mini and it turned out to be a lot of fun. It’s probably best suited for kids, but even those of us that are still only kids on the inside are enjoying it. The overall idea is fairly simple, though I’m sure the implementation was a challenge: The backboard is an Android TV that you can use to stream videos while playing, or run apps for different game modes, and it has sensors to keep track of your buckets and score the shots. Setup was quick and easy. You have to bolt on a couple of over-the-door brackets to mount it, attach the rim, and then you’re ready to go. A couple of the nuts were a bit of a challenge to reach, but the wrench they included made it much easier. Everything seems solidly built and will hopefully last a long time. If you want to mount it on the wall like a TV instead of hanging it on a door, it does have standard VESA mount holes but you’d have to buy a bracket for that. It comes with one 5” rubber mini basketball, and an air pump complete with an inflation needle tucked into the handle. The rubber ball has a nice basketball feel, but it is a little heavy and depending on your household arrangement could pose a hazard for knocking things around. They strongly suggest that it won’t work with anything other than the official Huupe ball (you can buy additional ones from them for $20), but I tried some inexpensive 5” PVC replacement balls. The sensors worked just as well with those, and I like that they’re lighter and quieter. The Huupe uses a rechargeable battery, and they also include a charging adapter and a nice, long USB cable for it. I couldn’t find any stats on the battery size, but one of their videos says it should last 3-4 hours which is probably reasonable. I’ve run for 2 hours with no problems. One thing I learned, though, was you have to “hard power off” when you’re done playing. When I first got the Huupe mini I thought it had a battery problem because every time I went to turn it on the next day, the battery was drained. I was just hitting the power button on the remote which puts it in “sleep” mode which I think is just turning off the screen. Even in sleep mode, the battery was running completely down in 20 hours or so. However, now that I know to “hard power off” which is holding the power button on the Huupe itself for about 10 seconds, I’ve come back a couple days later and it’s still at 100% when I turn it on. The Huupe has a variety of streaming apps loaded, and it doesn’t appear that you can download others. At least I have not been able to find a way to do that. Their included streaming apps (YouTube, Hulu, NBA TV, Spotify, Max, Prime, ESPN, Disney+, CBS, and TNT) should pretty much cover any basketball-related stuff I’d want to watch. The only one I miss is Fanduel which we have to use for local NBA games. The one weak spot in the system is the speakers, however. The volume can be cranked pretty loud, but they completely lack any bass and are very “tinny.” It’s not great for music but works just fine for game broadcasts. There are also a couple of Huupe apps included for games. One lets you set up an avatar and then have matches with people on the Internet. (I understand it was this capability that was the initial driver for the founders of the company to create this product.) The other app is called “Just Huupe” and it’s a simple app to just count and score your baskets. This is what we run 90% of the time and it’s a lot of fun. The shot tracking is described as “AI shot tracking technology (no cameras)” and I’ll just have to take their word on that. The sensors look a lot like cameras, but maybe they’re some other proprietary technology. The sensors are pretty good about consistently counting baskets made, but occasionally a miss that bounces off the rim gets counted as a basket. It’s not happening often enough that I’d say it’s a problem, though. It also detects where you’re shooting from and will score the basket as either 1, 2 or 3 points. This all seems to work really well and is a lot of fun. It's a reasonably expensive game “console” but I do think it’s a lot of fun. It’s like a super high-tech version of the ultra-low-tech nerf hoops games we used to play when I was an actual kid. I think kids will love the Huupe mini and it’ll at least keep them hopping around and active instead of parked on the couch.

man so far i love being the cool uncle 2 of my nephew whose both 9 years old stopped by because i wanted to show them my new mini basketball goal and they did not expect all the things it can do beyond just shooting the ball. i started laughing and throughout the day were all just having fun, but anyway finally got one of this Huupe mini and its been a fun week so far. first impression the packaging was not a brown box which is good, the way it was package was great part of it definitely feels like its a quality product you was receiving. i believe this the first indoor basketball goal that has its own build in tv that also a smart feature, just by hearing and seeing that it sounds very exciting to check it out and experience. DEVICE: opening the packaging the first thing i notice is how thick huup mini is it looks great in person the way it look, the weight feels so lid as well. ofcourse you do get the ball and a small pump, the bracket to mount this on the door, charging cable and the remote for the screen feature, going back to the board. it comes with a screen and 3 sensors that captures the player shot distances, now i think its really this aint just a simple basketball goal, its pack with great feautures as well. one great thing to know that there is no camera here, which is something that parents will be happy to hear and honestly would be a uncessary feature to have but for privacy is the main key to not support that. the board is also equipped with HDMI so youre not limited to what you can do with it. when it comes to rim quality I thought it was a good quality rim. last thing the cables is pretty long so you can make some great adjustments on to where you want this mounted. SOFTWARE: first setting it is fairly simple just like any other software out there it is running on android for those of you who are concerned so that part is pretty straightforward. having the ability to support smart app on Huupe mini was a great choice now you can even watch youtube video, anime or connect others app you have subscriptions with and play it while shooting some hoops. Huupe mini has built in app for local play which it was very fun testing it out with the family. Huupe mini definitely offer great amount of information for you to check out including your stats tracking each shot is very accurate with the camera thats provide it did not missed any beat from my testing. like what ive mentioned earlier you can use the apps while shooting your shots not only that you can even display the information and the backboard while a video or app is on the background. not forgot you also have online play that it offers to play with others. CONCLUSION overall experience Huupe mini definitely gave me that “woah” moment, even my two oldest nephews said the same thing the moment I showed them what else it offer. I had a great time shooting shots chillin and watching videos at the same time. but the main draw backs here is honestly is the price. that hefty $600 is no joke. the moment other parents hear that price thats a head turner and its not easy to swallow. do I think its worth it? some how I think it kinda is but not for $600. maybe around $400 might be the sweet price for these. it does make me think that dropping this would be a major pain and id hate to think of this that way but I hope I never drop this considering a 19” TV is built in, a lot of tech is inside this Huupe mini. the app that they offer is fun a great way to get a group going to start playing I do appreciate that, but I think the $600 price is a bit steep to most people and for a basketball going that you hang on your door. I was a bit disappointed that there was no other bracket options for optional mounting thats included as well. wosh they gave me more than the standard door mount. overall build quality os great, it looks great, had no issues with the screen getting impacted with the impact of taking shots, I hope the team does more to Huupe maybe update yhe software for other ways to play something to keep it fresh in the future and I hope they just don’t abandon this product, keep improving. im having a blast playing on this.

The Huupe smart mini basketball hoop is a really fun game to have in the house. It is very solid, well made and works on any standard door. Getting everything set up was super easy. You get the tools and parts you need to assemble everything and it only takes a few minutes. Once you hang the Huupe just switch it on and use the remote to get any apps you want running and update the software. This takes a few minutes and you’ll want to complete the update process. The tracking of the sensors and cameras seems to work pretty well but it isn’t perfect. There are times when it tells you that you made a basket when you clearly didn’t. Also, we get camera tracking errors from time to time, but the issue seems to resolve itself with just playing the game. My daughter had Disney playing on the backboard while shooting hoops and it was pretty cool. Worked well and there wasn’t any issues with playing back content. Battery life is decent but not the best. You’ll probably want to make sure it is fully charged before a hoop session or just leave it plugged in. The USB-C cord is plenty long enough and we didn’t find an issue with just leaving it plugged in if the unit needed charging. Overall, a really fun game to have in the house. Gets me and the kids doing something together and away from our cellphones for a bit. Certainly recommend giving this a shot!

The huupe Smart Mini Basketball Hoop game console is an innovative, quirky product that is begging to become a big hit. On its own, it has been fun to play over the last few days, but I think it will really shine when groups of friends each have their own huupe to compete with. #Unboxing# The huupe Smart Mini Basketball Hoop was pretty easy to get going. huupe provides an printed installation guide to get the hoop attached to the display/board and get the hooks mounted. Tools are included to complete the assembly (even a pump for the ball itself). The huupe Mini has a very solid feel, definitely not what I was expecting even with the premium price. #Using the huupe mini# After getting the huupe mini installed on a door using the included door hooks, I powered it on and started the setup. I ran into a few snags, which are the main reason I couldn't give this a full 5 star score. After getting connected to my home wifi, the screen started blinking on and off over and over on the screen where it has you scan a QR code to set it up from your phone. I thought perhaps that it was losing connection to wifi due to the SSID used being 2.4 and 5ghz, but it just kept doing that and wouldn't let me go back to change the settings for a few minutes. Finally, while I was googling on my phone to see what to do, a message popped up on the screen that it had to reboot to apply an update, and after the reboot I had no further problems. It never said that it was downloading an update - if this had been communicated the experience would have been no big deal at all. Once the initial update was complete and I was up and running, using the huupe mini was pretty easy, and very fun. It's basically a large Android tablet with advanced sensors to detect the ball. There are several media apps pre-installed, though despite being an Android device there's no Play store or alternative app store. It also has an HDMI in to use as a display for other media devices. The shot tracking is really cool, and the score keeping is fun. I could definitely see this being addictive trying to climb the online leaderboards. I think the huupe would really be perfect as a gift for multiple friends/relatives at the same time. Being able to compete in real-time across the internet should be really fun - I'm a little bummed I didn't have anyone to try it with in time for this review. #Final thoughts# Putting the huupe mini up in my kids' room brought me back to my own mini basketball hoop from when I was a kid. The huupe mini brings that same experience into a modern feel, and expands on it with the ability to play your friends without having to leave your own room, and gets you up and moving rather than sitting down playing PS5 or Xbox. I hope the popularity really takes off so it can shine with a big community of players.

Overall, this is a very fun take on a basketball hoop game for the inside of the house and or bedroom. The overall backboard is very sturdy in every solid build. Assembly takes a few minutes and very easy to do. The fit on the back of a door and the clamps hold the backboard in place very well. But it also has VESA mounting holes on the back if you wanted to just fix it to a wall. Although I’m not sure what size it is. The set up is easy and you can easily create an account and finish on your phone. Connecting to the Wi-Fi is a must and was pretty easy. Then you’re off to playing the games. The various games are pretty fun and it is definitely exciting playing against competition. Is very interesting and fun how The games will find you a suitable match. We’ve been playing for several days and we lasted the battle Royale, which was pretty fun. As far as the additional apps go, we tried YouTube, but it wouldn’t connect, which I don’t think it’s a big deal. But you might be able to get the backboard to work with various apps. I think the charging is the one downside it seems like it doesn’t hold a charge for very long, but I do like the fact that they supply it very long charging cord and you can just charge it up overnight. Overall, I think pretty cool and I would recommend.

Overall, I think this is a pretty cool product but it leaves a lot to be desired for how much it costs. A slow experience on what's basically just a stripped down Android TV (with really bad speakers) combined with the inability to get any new games just leaves it a little wanting. Still fun to shoot hoops with the kids and the basic score keeping app is nice enough. Out of the box, my iniitial impression was that the huupe felt well built and hefty. I didn't have any issues hanging it on my front door but I also noticed some screw holes on the back that could probably fit some kind of VESA mount (it's only 2 screws so probably proprietary). I might look into that in the future as nothing was included with the hoop. My unit came completely dead so I let it charge overnight before testing it out. Setup was mostly OK. I ran into a hiccup right away where the QR code to scan so you can make an account on your phone would flash for a second and then the device would complain about my network connection. It's 10 feet from a wifi hotspot in the same room so I knew there shouldn't have been any issues. After about 10 minutes of trying, it finally just worked so I'm not sure if it just takes a while to "stabilize" or something but I haven't seen any issues with the network since then. Creating an account was simple enough but I wish there was a way to create multiple profiles under the same account. I'm not really about setting up internet based accounts for my 5 year old right now so it would be really nice to just have a single account and be able to create secondary/kids profiles from there. After setup, you have a pretty normal looking Android TV looking screen with about a dozen apps preinstalled. There's no app store available so what they've installed is what you get. There's all the major streaming services as well as ESPN available so you can watch pretty much whatever you want while you play. The speaker on here is not great though. Listening to Spotify wasn't great. There's also three installed games. One is a competition you need to be subscribed to play. I think you can win prizes for it but I'm not subscribed so I didn't get to try that out. There's another competitive game that's basically like an arcade shootout and it matches you with a random person online to see who gets the most points. Then the last one is probably the one I'll use the most and it's just a score keeper. Keeps track of a session of basketball and counts your score for you. Simple but effective. The ball that comes with the hoop is fairly nice as well. It feels like a real basketball, just smaller. There's an included pump as well so you don't have to worry about that. Getting used to shooting such a small ball takes some time but it just feels like an arcade style hoop after you do. Points are awarded based on how far from the basket you are so layups and shots near the hoop are worth 0.1 points, and the points go up to 1 and 2 points as you get further away. It definitely takes some practice to start making shots better than 1 point very consistently. The bottom line with this basketball hoop is that it's a fun toy but it's incredibly expensive for what you get. The operating system feels really slow. The speakers are terrible and there's just not a plethora of options as far as games to play. If they had an app store where you could download new games that took advantage of the hoop, that would make things more attractive but as it stands, I can count my own score on super cheap hoop hanging over my door and it would feel like a really similar experience to this. I just don't see a lot of value in what you get for this kind of money. But my kid still has fun on it so I guess it's up to you to decide if it's worth the money.

Who knew I needed a smart hoop? I didn't. All the years of playing with hangers and rolled up paper are done but fondly remembered. This was easy to setup and get rolling. The apps that are ready to go are cool. Not mentioning them because they might change so I don't want to get anyone too excited to play ball in their room. The easy to read display is awesome. Being able to play against anyone anywhere is pretty sweet. I am thinking about getting one for my brother so that we can play together. He will kick my butt as usual but it will be fun. The sensors are pretty accurate as far as I can tell. I am the worst shooter ever so take it for what it is. All kinds of fun once everyone got used to the low ceilings in my room. Thinking about moving it to the garage where there is more room to skyhook on folks. I would definitely recommend picking up one of these if you have the discretionary funds to get it. You will have a blast with friends and strangers when you play online. I am a huge introvert so the offline feature was great for me. Go get it and have fun!!

I bought this on impulse for my grandson The display at Best Buy sold me on this item. Looked fun and interactive for a young kid Took it over to my daughters expecting that we would have to find a wall and drill to mount. Not needed! Included a door frame mount so that it can be moved around Unboxing was simple and set-up the same. Unpackage and assemble the mount and find your door This is where the fun began. The first shoot around was exciting as we discovered what it could do It knew where we were and assigned points based on the distance It kept score so that we did not have to Then we started streaming. Background music, ESPN games all added to the experience Later we tried the internet challenges with others that have the same unit and we were sold. Play against family not in the same place as long as they have a unit too is a game changer I initially bought this for my grandson, but now I realize that is is for the whole family (bonding over competition) Before you think the price seems high, realize what you are getting and the potential

[PROS] Easy Assembly: Getting the huupe Mini Basketball Hoop put together was very simple. It pretty much consists of tightening several screws for the bracket and rim. Once those things are complete then you're pretty much done outside of the screen setup. Fun Factor/Accuracy: Playing with the smart mini basketball hoop is fun. Whether its solo or online play, everyone in my household had a blast using it. For the most part, the embedded sensors does well in determining my shot location. I would say that it's correct at least 80% of the time. Dual purpose: Alongside the basketball functionality is a decent streaming feature. App selection for the television portion isn't as robust, but it does include the mainstream applications. I was able to log in and view content without any issue other than slowness. [CONS] Slow/Limited Interface: Navigating through the interface can be be a bit grueling. It seems like huupe is using a customized version of Android OS which doesn't include an app store. The operating system can be great, but this always depends on the internal components such as RAM, processor, and etc. The software is still usable, but will probably get slower as apps upgrade and implement more resource heavy functionality. Battery/Charging: Battery life is underwhelming. It can be used without leaving the cable plugged in, but I would suggest to keep the cable attached after an hour. I'm not as bothered since I have an accessible outlet near the door, but it is a warning. [MIXED BAG] Paperweight Fear: huupe is attempting to pioneer a new form of entertainment. The amount of early adopters will determine the future/longevity of online play. Only time will tell, but this initial product makes for a good first impression. [CONCLUSION] The huupe Mini Basketball console is a neat and exciting product to use. Its great for individuals of all ages to use. Long term use is up in the air, but this is a noble attempt.

This is definitely a cool toy! Great for kids and adults alike. Setup is easy, it only requires attaching the rim and door hangers to the backboard with the hardware and tools that are included. I finished it and had it hanging on a door in a matter of a few minutes. The ball needs to be pumped up, the pump and inflation needle are included. The unit doesn't come charged, and it took 5 1/2 hours to fully charge it. As an alternative to door hanging the unit can also be wall mounted. The screen is 19" and full HD, but because of the type of display panel used for the screen, the best picture quality is with the screen at or slightly above eye level. If the screen is much above eye level the picture appears very dark. So, if you wall mount it, it should be mounted at or only slightly above eye level for the person who would be using it the most. The unit has two 8-watt stereo speakers, one on either side of the screen, and the quality of the sound is good. When the unit is first turned on you have to create an account with an email before you can proceed. It will prompt for credit card information but that can be skipped as it is only required for the Daily Prize Challenge ($7.99 monthly). The regular game and the Battle Royale modes are free. Additional player profiles can be added, and it's easy to switch between the players. The unit is also a smart TV, with 12 preinstalled apps- YouTube, Spotify, Disney, TNT, Hulu, TBS, TruTV, CBS Sports, Prime Video, NBA, ESPN, Max and an HDMI port, so the streaming options are endless. The Quick Start Guide only explains what's in the box, how to assemble, and the remote-control buttons. There're no actual operating instructions other than cautioning against playing the game while it's charging. Once you've added one player profile you just have to explore the game options and figure them out, but it's all pretty straight forward. The game options are Battle City Royale (multiplayer online and offline), Daily Prize Challenge (most 3 pointers in a row for the day wins, typically a $100 cash payout), and offline single player Huupe. You can search player profiles online and invite and add friends to challenge or play together with as a team. There's also a Shop where you can buy swag for your avatar. If you've added a credit card to your account, you can buy "h-bucks" to shop with. In active play, the unit tracks shots and keeps score. It tallies both misses and points scored and keeps track for each player profile for a 24-hour period, then it resets. Points scored can be 1 point, 2 points, or 3 points depending on your distance from the basket. I found that anything closer than 6 feet is 1 point, from 6 feet up to 10 feet is 2 points and 10 feet and over is supposed to be 3 points but my setup didn't allow me to get that far from the basket. The tracking is done with lasers, not cameras and there is no camera at all on the unit so there is no privacy concern. It audibly announces the point(s) scored or a miss. The feature that I really like is the Overlay option where you can overlay the standard game on a streaming channel. I was able to stream a live NBA Knicks/Celtics playoff game while shooting baskets and having the game track and tally my shots. Play the game while watching a game! Great Fun! According to the info on the box a fully charged unit give 1-3 hours of play time. I got a little over 2 hours of playing time before it had to be recharged and that included an hour of streaming an NBA game while also intermittently having the overlay on and off. The entire unit is high quality heavy gauge plastic, and the door hangers and rim are heavy gauge steel. Even with children playing with it, it should last many years. The company does caution though, do not hang on the rim! Both ball and rim replacements are available on the Huupe website, as well as a wall mount. This gaming unit is a great entertainment alternative to standard gaming or idly scrolling web content, especially for (but not limited to) kids for the exercise they'll get. The Battle City Royale mode is great for competition between friends or family offline or online. The price is right in line with other gaming consoles, and you have the added benefit of unlimited streaming content options with built-in apps on an HD TV.

OK, this is a pretty fun little unit that does WAY more than we will ever use. So our basement, in addition to having my adult son's bedroom, is also party central, when not outside or any given Saturday or Sunday. Bear in mind, my son is a United States Navy Nuclear Engineer, so when he is granted liberty, he has a place to call home. That said, I just happened to get this a couple days before he came home. Needless to say, he and his sister and their friends spent many hours reuniting and hearing the many amazing stories ofhis ventures benath the Pacific Ocean. While he was here, we played multiple head-to-head games both as a family and amongst their friends. Suffice it to say, several friendly rivalries were notn only formed, but some were renewed. As for the tech, I'm not going to mention much because it is readily availble from many other sources. Overall quality is excellent. It has a great build, great feel and easy to use interface. One tech item I will note, especially in this era of privacy, this uses radar to track individual shots and not camera's, so no privacy issues. End of the day, this thing is tech-packed wonder, but also tons of fun.

This basketball hoop serves well for the purpose of what it was meant to be. I think the screen has some good qualities. It has some good apps, shows the weather and gives me good sound quality when delivering the news. However, it does not function well as a outright TV. As a basketball hoop is pretty good, obviously don't try to dunk on it or the rim will break. Don't use any other basketball that it is intended to be used because then the screen will crack and then all you're just left with is an expensive door basketball hoop. This concept eludes me because it diverts the attention from two different methods of entertainment: One that requires you to sit and watch one that requires you to be active. I'm sure this will work well in a kids room or in a man cave type situation, but I don't personally have a need for this. The hoop is also touch screen which is cool, but I would have accepted a remote rather than to get up and change the input or app. I'm satisfied with the quality of the product, just not with the functionality.

We bought this for two of our nephews. They can't stop playing on it. The instructions and set up are easy. Just charge with the USB cord and go. Not like other video games where they just veg out. This is keeping them active.
