Radio friendliest Stone Sour in years

I want to like stone sour, I really do. I thought the dark themes explored in the House of Gold and Bones vol 1&2 were an indicator of the direction of this band artistic oeuvre. Sadly, this incarnation of the band (So long Jim Root) is proving to be more 'Through Glass' or 'Say You'll Haunt Me' than 'the Conflagration'. Maybe it's artistic vision, maybe it's ego driven "lead singer-itis", but Corey Taylor has altered this band over the years. I'm not saying I dislike the album, it really just seems more mid 00's radio metal, which I am disappointed to say given how effusive Mr. Taylor has been in his praise of the album. This album is not bereft of good moments. High points include 'Somebody stole my eyes' and the somewhat silly titled 'Fabuless'. Bottom line is while that this is by no means Nickleback in '17 as some have said, personally I was expecting a harder edge to it. Given that a new Slipknot album is at least 2 to 3 years away, looks like this is the best we can hope for from Corey Taylor for now.

This album is just that,.... "Audio secrecy mixed with Come Whatever May." It will no doubt make the Stone Sour fans that beg for their heavier stuff angry and make the one's who like Corey's softer side really happy. It does have a couple songs with some hints of Slipknot but they are very few. They are no doubt great musicians and the removal of Jim Root isn't really noticed but because I lean towards liking there heavier stuff I only give it three stars.

    Great Comeback For Stone Sour

I've always wished for a softer Slipknot, this is that. I love Corey Taylor, and believe it or not, never knew he had a second band. Listening to a lot of their songs before release of Hydrograd got me really hyped and boy was I not disappointed. This album has a lot of Slipknot in it but a lot of Stone Sour as well, the mix is a perfect blend that creates a very unique tone for Corey that we got a taste of with Snuff.

Stone Sour has always been a favorite of mine. I like the melodic vocals of slipknot's frontman. However, this is not a CD that highlights that. For somebody who criticized Linkin Park for sounding generic. Stone Sour's newest CD is definitely a generic rock CD full of bland rock ballads and no soul.

If you're checking out Stone Sour's new album by listening to the singles, stop! The album overall is very good, and you won't know by just hearing Song #3 or Fabuless. It's apparently that the band learned some new things from House Of Gold & Bones, and some of them are employed here. Check it out.

I was hyped when I heard 'Fabuless' on satellite radio and picked up this album in hopes that the rest of the album would be that great. I was disappointed to say the least. Minus a few of the songs, the rest of the album is boring, standard rock with not much substance to it.

One of the better metal bands making an effort to establish themselves as recognized professionals. Will see these guys in concert coming in two months while they are on tour. I believe they have the potential to improve and grow much.

This is a great release from Stone Sour. I have listened to it at least once a day since I bought it on the release date. My favorite songs are The Witness Trees, Somebody Stole My Eyes and When The Fever Broke.

My husband picked this. It's not bad, it's loud and drowns out kids whining in the car: win. Double win when the 7 yr old pipes up with "I'm not better than you I'm just better." hahahahahaahaha

Pretty awesome album, there's no Jim root in this one but it still go the job done. It has 15 tracks it runs over an hour. Probably their longest album that is not a deluxe edition

This is another good to great album from this group led by the lead singer of Slipknot. If you have not listened to this group, give them a try since they have a different sound from Slipknot.

This album is a true masterpiece for rock n roll. In a age we're most rock bands are changing their sound into the pop mainstream, Stone Sour is still making rock music!!!!!

This album received lots of hype before it's release. While not as good as the previous House of Gold and Bones two parter, this is a solid album with catchy hard rock. Highly recommended

Even though this CD sounds more commercial than their previous CDs, I still think that this CD is really good. My foyvorite tracks are: Song #3, Somebody Stole My Eyes, and Mercy.

Although not nearly as good as "The House Of Gold And Bones I & II," it is still a solid album. Jim Root's absence is very apparent, but there are a few very good songs.

Another great release for Stonesour fans. Some carry over vocal styles from slipknots last imo. Corey says he wants them completely separate but why it embrace them both

It's tough being a Stone Sour fan as they have to share their lead singer with Slipknot. This is a solid album and one of their best. I highly recommend it.

They said it would be geared more towards rock then hard rock. It certainly is just that and i love it. Just saw them on tour too. Killer performance.
