    Hydrow 1 Year Review

I’ve had my Hydrow for about a year now. I use it weekly for a great full body workout and am still not bored with it. I was a new rower when I decided to buy this. I was torn between this or another treadmill. I decided to go with the Hydrow simply for the more dynamic workout. I am glad I did. Here are some of the things I like most: - I like how easy Hydrow made learning to row. - I like the variety of workout types normally I pick journey mode where I can just put on a rowing scene and go. It’s peaceful and I can just row at my desired intensity. - I appreciate the coaches. I’m not a fan of guided workouts. I don’t like being yelled at or told what to do when I’m working out. Working out is my peace bubble and I don’t want people talking to me while I’m doing it. That said, Hydrows coaches are very sweet, supportive, approachable, and engaging. I don’t mind being led by these coaches. - The user interface is great. - There is enough control of drag settings to dial in your intended intensity. - There are other workouts like straight training, yoga, etc that are not rowing, which is nice. - Leaderboards and awards are nice. What I dot t like: - The speakers are not Bluetooth. You cannot Bluetooth your phone to the Hydrow, so you’re stuck with your own speaker of Hydrows music. You can turn the music off though, which was thoughtful of Hydrow. - Apple Watch does not connect to Hydrow without external device. You need to purchase an adapter to connect your Apple Watch to the Hydrow. The device is temperamental when connecting, but once connected it works well. - I wish they had a gamified mode, video game like, but that’s not a drawback for me, just a wishlist item. I really like this machine. It’s held up well through a move. Its sound is soothing (albeit a little loud, but north bothersome to me). The workout is fun, and my wife even likes it, and she doesn’t like working out. Win win.

Using it for a couple of months now. It is far from cheap, but it is a top-of-the-line machine. My wife and I find it comfortable, quiet, and easy to use. Both live and recorded workouts. It looks its sleek, modern design and looks good.

I'll admit it, the ads finally got to me, and I have two tall daughters. My hope is that one of them might get into rowing and then all of this will be worthwhile. In the short term, it is completely worthwhile. As a complete newbie to the rowing world, my form was completely terrible until about the tenth workout. I'm sure my form is still pretty mediocre, but the variety of trainers makes their effort at being inclusive and encouraging growth mindset seem less preachy and just good practice. The machine itself is inviting, and frankly, the workout is real. I've never been able to row for more than seven minutes before and before I tweaked my shoulder I was up to a happy half hour. I'm going to have to work on stretching and take a couple of weeks off, but if you have more than one person in the house that would keep up with the machine it is completely worthwhile even with the montly costs. During this time of shelter-in-place directives, I could think of no better workout to take with me into middle age. I'm a very tall 38-year-old at the moment and created knee and back problems due to my size and my years of playing and coaching basketball. The device is great, and add-ons are worth waiting for, but the device is also worth having immediately. I'm glad I got the workout mat and the hyperice pneumatic massage gun thrown in. I am jealous that I didn't get the ridiculous black Friday deal or indigogo deal. That said, delivery was smooth and wonderful and setting it up was a stretch solo, but doable.

I’m an athlete trying to stay in shape during covid times. First off , if you were like me you are researching everything on this machine before you buy it . All I’ll say is if you have the ability and finance to do it then DO IT! Everyone with negative reviews is telling you how expensive it is , how the monthly membership is too expensive . If $ 38 a month is too expensive for your health then 1: you’re silly and 2 : go for runs outside, it’s free. Noise : barely any noise. if someone is watching tv while you’re using this machine, It would not be a bother. Quality : built to last . I’m 6”1 255 lbs I have no problems with this machine nor do I think it will give me Problems later . Very durable and heavy Content : the reason I went with this instead of The Ifit selections ( pro form , norditrek ) you cant beat olympians or Olympic level athletes working you out. Sorry but i don’t like the 24 year old hipster in New York trying to work me out in neon lights . I want the real deal. I want knowledgeable and seasoned athletes to show me the way . As an athlete, I want to stay motivated and excited to workout . I get that and more with Hydrow . $38 monthly for the content is completely worth it ! The machine is expensive but once you get it you will understand why / this machine is heavy duty and beautiful . Everything you want in a machine

The machine itself seems perfect. It’s “on display” in my home but I don’t mind because of the beautiful design. It’s simple and just works. Setup was surprisingly easy. I was able to do *almost* all of it on my own. Beware that it comes in a VERY large cardboard box with a lot of interior stabilization (mostly made of recyclable corrugated, which pleased me.) Of couse, without the subscription to the video workouts it’s just a boring rower, but the videos are just fantastic. You can do workouts with trainers or just virtually rowing beautiful waterways. You forget that you’re on a machine. I actually look forward to working out and I feel like I get a really good workout without being sore. If I had one request it would be to redesign the upright storage so it is easier to do. I thought I’d be able to fold it up before and after workouts, but in reality it’s a two person job, so that’s only going to happen when company is coming. If you’re thinking about a Hydrow, do it. You won’t regret it.

I love my Hydrow! I have never been one for working out, but as I'm getting older I've realized that I feel much better if I exercise. This machine is great for beginners. They have hundreds of recorded videos to choose from and several are for beginners that teach you how to row correctly and use proper form. The screen is huge and the trainers really motivate me. The machine itself is very stylish and sleek so I have it in my bedroom. The only downside is that you have to pay the $38 monthly membership to access the videos and use your Hydrow, but if using this machine regularly motivates you and makes you feel better then it's definitely worth it.

Due to Achilles tendonitis, I had to look for a lose impact way to exercise. Rowing seemed like a great idea but I knew getting my form was right was important or is ends up with another, different, injury. The local gyms didn't have anything. I had tried Hydrow at a local store but choked at the price. When Best Buy had the Hydrow on sale, it seemed like a no brainer. I've had this now over a month and it's great. The videos emphasize your form from three very start. ThE instructors demonstrate and work you thorough tHe basics repeatedly while slowly increasing your speed. The instructors are really great. Watching them row in real water means hearing people cheer them on, listening to traffic while going under bridges, and seeing the occasional dolphin. You can choose instructors working in a room but reality is better and more challenging. You can join a team and compete against others or compete by yourself. Every video has a leaderboard so you can see how you compare. People cheer each other on and discuss and all questions on the Facebook community. The rower itself is smooth and not as loud as alternatives. But it is very heavy, so either pay the Geek Squad or a few friends, to get it assembled and in place.

I was looking to add something to compliment running and I came across the rowers . I researched many options and finally took the call to go for top of the line I.e the Hydrow . The rower indeed provides full body workout ; I feel my core and upper body is engaged during the workout . It’s been just few days but so far I am loving the Hydrow . It’s relatively easy to set up , very smooth to operate . The online sessions are wonderful and I hope to interact with the rower community in future . Buying at Best Buy is much better than directly from the manufacture as Best Buy provides free in room delivery whereas manufacturer only provide free at door delivery. The box is super heavy so I really appreciate in room deliver by Best Buy .

Researched a lot of options and ended up going with Hydrow since Concept2 has a long wait list and Training Tall recommended Hydrow. I agree it's a well built machine and the content is engaging which keeps me coming back. It's only been a few days but hope it will continue for a long time. Family members also have created profiles and are making use of it. There is an active Facebook community for it that I recommend owners join. The downsides are the price and subscription fees. Initial price is comparable to a Peleton or about 2 years of gym membership. The ongoing subscription pays for them to create new content. For now, it's okay but I can see down the road it may be a burden. If multiple people use the machine, it quickly amortizes the cost.

This machine is THE BEST of the best. I can not explain just how well built it is. The row is smoother than any machine I’ve ever known of. The foot harness is great with different settings for size. Set up is easy. When you first set it up there is a training schedule to follow which I think is a huge part of why I like it so much. You don’t have to do the training but I highly recommend it as it helps explain everything in the screen and really gets you set up to row properly.

We are loving our Hydrow and the fitness program that we subscribed to through them. It was a bit of a struggle to get in the house and up the stairs as it is heavy. But we managed it, and are very pleased. The machine is designed well and the variety of instructors for rowing and other fitness topics offered have been enjoyable. We purchased it as a safe way to get a great workout during this time of social distancing. It’s so convenient to just get out of bed and put on exercise things and walk upstairs and row. Or if you have a break during the day you can jump on the Hydrow and do a 15 or 20 minute row. Easy, safe and convenient. They are expensive, but I am so glad we purchased it.

I really enjoy the Hyrow Rowing Machine. They offer live rowing sessions and many prerecorded sessions. You can compete with others who are rowing at the same time or have recently rowed. They also offer stretching, and other pre and post-workouts off the machine. I feel like I'm in a class at the gym. It is a very stylish and smooth rowing machine that does not take up a lot of space.

Initially, this product was a lesson learned in doing proper research. Although it is very high quality, a major downside was prior to 2020, the product required a paid subscription to use. About $30 to $40 a month. However, due to many customer complaints, hydrorow updated the software to allow a free row mode, which allows the user to change resistance and keeps track of time and strokes. Since then, it is a much better experience.

We own a Peloton bike (have for 2 years) and we have both used it regularly... i can say.. yes it's a decent cardio workout for 45-60 minutes.. but this rower is a workout at just 20 minutes. I couldnt see doing this without the programming.. I need a coach to keep me going, I like the scenery/Boston, the athletes - these are the real deal - and I like the workouts... 20 minutes goes by fast and you FEEL it everywhere. We moved our Peloton bike out of the Great room and moved this beauty in... it is truly Sexy.. low to the ground, it is visually appealing and USEFUL. It's a steal, a better workout (we got the black Friday deal!) and we are pleased! Yes we are paying for 2 memberships right now.. CRAZY.. one will have to go at some point. We love the Hydrow!!! Like the guy said it uses 80% of your body vs just legs.. you totally can feel it! Thanks BB for this offer. We picked it up with our trailer to get it faster home!

Bought this after reviewing several alternatives (like Peloton) because we can't go to the gym any more and, at my age (72) you use it or lose it. So far it has exceeded my expectations in every respect. Customer support has been excellent both before and after purchase. They even called me back, after I had figured out something and hung up, just to see if they could help. The product itself is of very high quality. Much better than the gym rowers. Picked up at the store where the box (just barely) fit in my Explorer and got it home and on the garage floor by myself. My wife and I managed to move the main unit inside with very little problem. Assembly was stunningly simple: bolt on the front legs, attach the screen, plug in the screen and the machine and it's done. After you connect the computer to your internet source, it does an update and then leads you through an intuitive setup including subscribing for the a/v feed. The machine really does give you a full body workout that you can feel for hours afterward but in a good way -- not like you got run over by a truck but like your muscles are telling you that they got a workout (and maybe thanking you.) I was ambivalent about the videos but, after three days, I am really beginning to like them. You can just do whatever the instructor is doing, which gives you a predetermined workout and there are thousands to select from, or you can listen to what s/he is saying and get into it. There is a data window where you can see how others are doing and something about who they are so you don't need to feel bad about not doing as well as some 20-year-old. It really does help to keep you focused and eliminate the boredom. And, of course, you can just watch the beautiful scenery, which you can actually see in front of you in most views, an advantage over real rowing where you are always going backward. This product is just exactly what I hoped it would be and then some.

I've heard about the benefits of rowing from many people as well as articles, but I could never get into it because I would get bored and lose my motivation after 10 mins. This machine changed everything for me and my family. The online workouts are fun, motivational, and challenging (if you want them to be). I love that there are 100% just rowing exercises, 50% rowing and 50% on the mat, as well as 100% on the mat. There are HIIT classes, Yoga, Pilates, cooldowns, and pre-rows. There's something for everyone. I love that there are live and prerecorded challenges and classes. You can do a 5 min workout or an hour-long one and the time just flies....and if you're competitive at all, you're going to be working your butt off against the leaderboard. The instructors know what they are talking about and look like they are having fun and if you don't know how to row, they will teach you. The machine is built to last and is of high quality. Every aspect of it, from the very responsive touchscreen monitor to the structure itself. It doesn’t take long to put together either. I know the price tag is high, but you're getting what you pay for with this machine. As a family, we were deciding between this and a treadmill. I didn't want to spend $1000 on a mediocre treadmill and when I realized that to get a decent one, I was going to spend the same amount of money, we decided to go with the Hydrow. Everyone in my family has an account, my wife, my 14 yr. old daughter and even my 11 yr. old. We use it every day and we've had it for almost 2 months now. For the people complaining about the price tag or the fact that you have to have a subscription, you should know what you're buying, and if you do know, then you're going to realize quickly where that money goes, and it goes into a quality machine and quality (and fun) programming. We have zero regrets about spending what we did on this, and the fact that 4 of us all get to have profiles and have tailored workouts, well that averages a little more than $7 per month for each of us. If you're in the market and are serious about this, don't hesitate.

I did a lot of research before making the plunge with the Hydrow. I have fibromyalgia and work full time. I needed something low impact that would hold my attention. I'm also a techie and this machine is quiet and state of the art. The subscription fee of $38 is reasonable for what you get. My husband was skeptical because he had not researched it before it showed up at our door. He uses it more than me now because I'm unable to use it daily due to my health. I love it! I have yet to do a live row because the recorded ones are fine (although I will at some point). They are adding new rows almost daily (the date is on each one). I love that each trainer is different and they keep you motivated. It's an excellent overall workout and I can't wait to keep going further. We went on the Thames last week in London. It's fun too!
