The light does stay on the entire time it is connected. I tend to disconnect it at night but other than that I would recommend this product. It is also very light weight and made of sturdy material. I have not experienced any issues with this product and would buy this for anyone that needs a USB hub,

Great Hub for my remote assignment

The hub provided enough power for the old flat-bed USB-A connected scanner and a USB-C connection for the newer duplex scanner. Both worked great on this assignment.
