This is definitely needed for MacBook purchases if you use your USB ports. The only thing I would change is the stability of it. It tends to wiggle around so if you’re not careful, it may break. This is cheaper than the Apple one and I’m happy with saving the extra money and getting an offbrand product.

This is a great little device, but there is one quirk you need to work around. The HDMI connection may not work at first if you have already plugged in other devices or cables first. I had my USB-C power supply and my old USB hub plugged in before I plugged in my HDMI monitor, but I wasn't getting a picture. My Mac knew the monitor was there when I gathered the windows in preferences, but there was no picture. So after finding a suggestion on the manufacturer's website, I unplugged everything and then just plugged in the HDMI cable and waited a few seconds. Then it worked! The monitor came on and from there I was able to plug in my power supply and my old USB hub. So I recommend this device as a nice compact way to add the ports you need, but plug in the HDMI cable first and then the other stuff!

I was worried about having to buy multiple adapters for the USB-C connections on my laptop, but this one has all I could ever need! I like being able to plug my sd card directly into the hub and having access quickly to all my pictures. This really saves me time! Big fan of the HDMI port for when I want to watch a movie on a bigger screen! The price is a little high, but it’s worth it for everything you’re getting. Definitely recommend getting one of these!

Works as described. Easy to use. I gave it 4 stars only because I never used any others and not sure if there is any difference.

It sucks that there arent many ways for you to connect anything to your new macbook pro but this is the way to do it. It looks super clean and doesnt look out of place like many dongle you have to buy. Love it and use it daily.

I am giving this product a 4 star review because even though it is well built and does exactly what it is supposed to do, there are some aspects that could be improved. 1. The hub gets very hot even when none of the ports are in use. It doesn't get hot enough to burn you, but it still gets uncomfortably hot so this may be a concern if you want to use this laptop while it is...on top of your lap. 2. The color of the hub doesn't quite match my space gray MacBook Pro but it is VERY CLOSE. 3. All of the ports on the hub tightly grip whatever peripheral plug I am using. This is a problem because I have to brace the hub and my computer every time I need to remove a plug from one of the ports. I have to pull so hard that I fear I will damage my computer if I am not careful. An alternative is to remove the entire hub every time you want to remove a plug from one of the ports but this can become very annoying. Overall I am very satisfied with the product and I believe this is the most practical of all the USB hubs for sale on Amazon despite some of its minor flaws.

If only I didnt have to carry extra accesories. Down part, it won’t work with case on....so you know. Still recommends it.

My Logitech bluetooth mouse with USB 2.0 transmitter acts a little jerky every once in awhile. It's in direct line of sight, but occasionally acts up. Not bad but annoying. Be advised, the other two hubs I've tried are much more jerky. There is a light at the end of the hub that is needless in my opinion. Luckily it isn't very bright. I don't know if it ever turns off, even when the laptop is asleep in my computer bag. Haven't seen if off yet. Otherwise I really like the product.

My Best Buy never had the Apple version available. This one was cheaper, available and does the job just fine. The only issue is if you have a hard case on your MacBook, the bottom half has to be removed to attach this.

Until everything goes usb c you will need this cool little device. I like how small it is and it seems to be well built. I've used the old style USB ports and charged the computer through the usb c ports. I haven't used the HDMI or sd card slots so I don't know how well these work.

This thing is perfect...Everything I'd need to use USB ports or HDMI, with the exception of the fact that it doesn't work if you've got a case on your MacBook Pro. The male plugs don't have enough length to them to be able to plug this in if you leave the case on your MacBook.

I bought a new MacBook and needed the regular USB port and sd card slot. I was going to buy the actual Apple branded adapters but they would have cost a lot more than this for the same thing. It also matches the color of the MacBook with is nice. Has been working really good.

Love the adapter. Only wish it had been included, instead of an extra charge, when i purchased expensive laptop.

Great product, but you cant use it if you have a case. You need to remove the case every time you want to use it.

This is nice, but lacks more access ports. Shop for device with HDMI, 3 USB ports etc for similar price.

This is everything you need for your MacBook Pro to function with any other attachments USB or lightning port and SD cards. It’s all of your accessories in one easy purchase. Absolutely worth it!

This is a lot easier to keep track of than the adapter cords in my opinion. It’s pricey but worth it.

Apple (and others) have made their laptops thinner and lighter. To win this war, all of them have eliminated accessory ports. Rather than buy a dongle for each device, I bought the HyperDrive which gives me everything I need with the exception of a CAT-5 connector for hard wired networks. I do not know if there's a USB or USB-C connector to do that. And if there is, will it work through the HyperDrive is a good question.

I wish my sons MacBook had more ports for all the things to plug in but we had to purchase this to give him more options. However, it is slim and does not stick out too far on the laptop.

Overall the product works well but feels a bit flimsy. I would prefer to feel the connection a lot more secure. The item doesn’t work 100% when multiple things are plugged into it, I have a usb for a wireless mouse and occasionally when I need more room I plug it into my 32in tv as a monitor. The mouse starts glitching and becomes less responsive.
