Let your back relax!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. You know how when you get older your body just starts to ache? If you're saying no, don’t worry you'll get there! I've had back issues for a while and when I wake up or sit down for long periods of time (you know, like working at a desk), getting up can be a bit uncomfortable because of back pain. Without taking pills for the pain, the Venom 2 Back can quickly heat / massage your back and ease the discomfort. When I say quickly, I am not exaggerating - this thing heats up within a few seconds. It's so fast and soothing, that I can just wrap this around my back, turn on the heat at level 3 (max) and vibration at max, and I normally walk around with it for until it auto-shuts off after 15 minutes. Is this the solution for bad backs? No, of course not, but it does help lower the pain and can aid in recovery. My only issue so far is that it's meant to be worn over clothes - which is entirely reasonable - but in the summer/heat wave, it's hard to turn on the heat function because you're already hot - but the vibrations still help. There is an app that you can also use to connect w/the device, I had originally decided to skip it, but saw that it could help remind you of exercising, so I decided to create an account and log in. Upon connecting to the device, it immediately wanted to start a firmware update. Unfortunately, the instructions on screen on your phone are incorrect! Right before you start the update, it tells you to plug in both the device and your phone, and to not turn off either of them. So I plugged in the power for the Venon, and pressed start...and then nothing. As it turns out, when you plug in the power to the Venom 2, which immediately turns off the device! After waiting about 20 minutes (to not risk interrupting the update as I had no idea where it was at this point) I closed everything and tried it again - but this time without plugging in the device. The firmware immediately started and only took a few minutes. That is a bit frustrating and scary (because turning something off during a firmware update can brick the device!), but as it turned out plugging in the device before pressing update did nothing harmful. However, this was worth it. The app itself acts like a remote control, and you can change the default 15 minute timer to whatever you want, and shows you the battery level of the device. I tend to not use the apps and just use devices as is because I would rather not give up my personal information to use the app. In this particular case though, getting to increase the default 15 minutes to 30 is worth going through creating an account. Pros: Heats up very quickly Large velco/area covers the right spots for my pain App allows you to change the vibration type and time, which you cannot do on the device itself. Cons: Requires app to make changes Firmware instructions on screen are wrong for firmware update Not exactly inexpensive

Good overall product, but needs a bigger battery.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Hyperice Venom 2 Back is a great portable back warmer and massager. After unboxing I plugged it in for 6 hours as instructed and then used it for the first time. The Venom 2 has a power button and 2 buttons for heating and massaging that each have three different settings. The heating elements I must say get warm very quickly and feel nice on your back. The highest settings wasn't too hot that it was uncomfortable. The heating elements heats for about 5-7 minutes and then automatically shuts off. A quick tap of the button will turn it back on. The massaging feature has three different settings. One is a long continuous massage, another is a pulsing massage and another is an intermittent jolt. Combining the heating and massaging elements together feels good on my back after a long round on the course. The velcro holds nice and tight around my waist and the neoprene is a good material. I will say I think the only gripe I have is that the battery life isn't that long. I believe the heating element only works for about an hour total before it needs recharged or about 4-5 heating cycles. I haven't tried keeping the product plugged in, but the main reason I believe for the price is the portability factor which could be better imo, so that is really the only gripe I have. If you're only going to be using it for 30-45 minutes each day around the house doing chores its the perfect choice, but don't buy it if you need continuous portable wear throughout the day because it won't go the distance.

The Bentley of heating pads...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So, I've had some recurring low-mid back issues over the years, and own at least a few different heating pads for when it decides to flare up. Or just after a particularly tough round of golf... While they all do what they say they do (get hot), it is a PITA trying to get the cord situated in the right place so it isn't poking me somewhere or other, and the darn things are always slipping around and hard to get to stay where I want the heat. Enter the Hyperice Venom 2. It is super handy for a few different reasons. First, it's cordless. CORDLESS. I'm not limited to finding a chair next to an outlet to use the thing. It does take a while to charge up, but seems to last a long time on a single charge. That is to say, I haven't come close to exhausting the battery. They say it will last for up to three hours, and I'd say that might be conservative, based on my experience. The little control box is easy to use and small enough not to notice when you aren't needing it. I will say that it would be really nice if it charged via a USB-C or similar cord, but no- you are stuck with their proprietary charger. Second, it has a massage feature. Now, this is just motor/vibration type of "massage", but I don't think I'd want a shiatsu type thing that would add significantly to the unit's bulk. I wouldn't think the massage feature is really necessary, but it is pretty nice to have. It is strangely soothing, I have to admit. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker if it wasn't there, but - I'm not going to lie - I use it pretty much every time I strap the thing on. Which gets to the third point- you strap it on. It's basically a big neoprene wrap with heating/vibration built in. That means you are hands-free. I can have it on while washing dishes, or playing frisbee with my dog, or sitting anywhere I want - and not worry about whether it is going stay where you put it. That is a game-changer for me. I think those are the main plusses, but I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention how fast this thing gets hot. Literally a matter of seconds. Your typical CVS pad might take a number of minutes before you know if you've got it at the right setting or not. With the Hyperice it feels nearly instantaneous. It's highest setting is plenty hot, to boot (honestly, too hot for me). What about cons? Well, one minor point I'd make is that there is a bit of thickness to the pad. Some folks might not like that, but it is almost the perfect thickness to provide a little lumbar support (that's really what it feels like to me, a lumbar cushion). Really only a concern when using it on your lower back, of course. The second caveat would be that this may be unlikely to fit (with the waist strap fastened) for folks with a waist over 40 inches or so. I'm a 36-38, and I don't see that it would go much beyond that if you wanted to wear it. Just something to be aware of. If you're on the skinny side, it does have a compression strap to ensure a comfortable fit. Obviously, I'm not needing that.... And, again, I think the dedicated wall-wart charger could have been done away with in this day and age. USB-C (mini, micro, etc) charging could have eliminated the concern of the dedicated charger becoming lost or non-functional, rendering the item unusable. I might knock off half a star just for that. But perhaps that is a bit nit-picky... Overall, this is, hands down, the nicest heating pad I've ever used. It's probably also the most expensive, but here, clearly, you get what you pay for. If this is the type of product you use (or could use) on a regular basis, no doubt you'll find it money well-spent.

Instant pain relief for my lower back.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first time using a muscle therapy device like this and I was impressed almost instantly with the support and compression it provides to your back. I stay very active and often have persistent lower back pain, so this was a game changer for me. The portability of the Venom 2 makes everything so much easier instead of having to stay stationary in a massage chair. I can actually move around, go shopping, even work, while I’m wearing the brace. The first time I wore the Hyperice Venom 2 I had already been having issues with a small back injury that flared up earlier that week, so it was perfect timing. Starting with the download of the Hyperice App, which connects via Bluetooth, you can control the vibration intensity and rhythm, as well as a three tier heat option. The wrap allows you to wear it as tight as you want which gives me fantastic support without shifting as I move. Feel free to wear it sitting down, walking around the house or even to the gym, it stays in place very well, regardless of your activity. When you open the box you’ll find the venom 2, three interchangeable options for power plugs so you can use it outside of the US and a user guide. The setup is very quick and the unit itself had enough power out of the box to try out for about half an hour. The timer comes stock at fifteen minutes but you can change that in the app. I myself prefer heat and vibration for fifteen minutes and heat alone for another fifteen. The Bluetooth connection is lightning fast once you open the app which makes using it that much easier to operate. The battery life is two and a half hours, so you can get quite a few sessions before needing to be recharged. The heat function works very well and warms up quickly. When set to tier three, I would recommend keeping it off of bare skin, as it can get really warm. There are three different vibration rhythm options but no intensity option and after using it for a few days I find that I enjoy the constant vibration more than the pulsing options. Once on, worn comfortably tight and with the heat and vibration activated, the Hyperice Venom 2 provides almost instant relief wherever applied. There are a few things I’d like to see in the next model. I would like more intense vibration to penetrate deeper into my muscles, the current vibration is great but I do believe you could benefit from a little more power, if that possible. I like the shape of the wrap but if it could be designed to cover a little more of the tailbone. Although that might make it less versatile, so maybe not. But IMO, I feel like it would make a big difference, almost like a rounded V shape in the back. One last thing I would like is a bit more stiffness on the back and sides of the unit, as to not allow my spine to curve where I’m trying to keep it supported. Overall I love this product! I like to keep moving so I love the mobility, battery life, great heat intensity and support. I think you could even call this a good upgrade to a back brace if it had stiffer material. Forget massage mats you lay over chairs, the venom 2 is where it’s at and I recommend it to anyone seeking instance pain relief to be used as needed.

Keeps me moving
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are someone who experiences chronic back pain and muscle stiffness, this is a good product to have on hand. Whether you have a small frame or on the larger side, this belt can be adjusted to fit your needs. It charges up quickly using a standard adapter. Once charged you can power it up using one button. If you want heat, this pack has 3 heat settings and heats up very quickly. I was very surprised that I had heat within seconds of turning it on. It does have an automatic shut off vibration when its reached its maximum time. I was not prepared for that when I had it on, and it startled me the first time because the vibration alert is stronger than expected. Nothing crazy just surprised me. The vibration feature of this belt is good. It has 3 different vibration pattern settings and will vibrate for quite a while. It feels like there are small pucks inside the belt that do all of the vibrating vs one large one so it gets pretty powerful results. I also like that this is a belt versus just a pad you lay on. We all have busy lives and being able to move around with the belt on helps out a lot. I don't feel like I am restricted to just laying in bed or on the couch. Overall a pretty good product.

Excellent heated back pad
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The waist belt is stretchy and should fit most people, however for people a little larger around the middle it may not be long enough to connect the belt together. However, this also works great as a heating/massage pad while sitting in a recliner or couch without having it attached to your waist. The heating element works very fast, I was surprised how quickly it got up to temperature. The control module is easy to use with a simple on/off button, a button for 3 levels of heat, and a button for 3 vibration modes. The vibration is high quality and smooth. It's a soothing/relaxing type of vibration, and unlike the more intense massage guns than have gotten popular over the years. I can see this being very relaxing after a long day, or to warm up after working out in the yard. The battery life so far has been impressive as well. I usually have to use heated devices on high to feel much heat, but this thing definitely gets pretty hot on the high setting, so I usually use it on setting 1 or 2 instead. This pad has been great to loosen up my lower back while sitting in my work chair all day, or winding down at the end of the day.

Effective Back Relief That Doesn't Tie You Down
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My husband and I are getting older and have worked some strenuous jobs in the past that have left us with lower back pain. Now that he is retired and I am mostly working a desk job, most of the time the pain is minimal. But, on occasion, the pain can be quite disconcerting and we reach for the heating pad for relief. Using a normal heating pad tends to tie you down to one spot and tethered to an electric cord. In addition, normal heating pads are not always easy to get to stay in the right spot or cover the whole area where relief is needed, causing constant, annoying shifting. That is why I was excited to hear about the Hyperice - Venom 2 Back Wrap with advanced heat and vibration. It is a wide, low profile, wireless belt-type heating pad wrap that you can charge, then wear while you go about your everyday activities. Awesome idea! How well would it work? When I received the Venom 2, I immediately opened the box to find the Venom 2 wrap, the wrap's charger and 4 different configurations of prong attachments for the charger that allow you to choose the one that matches your electrical outlet configuration. I choose and quickly attached the standard North American 120v AC prong attachment and plugged the charger into an available outlet. I then plugged the charger into the ~2" square, ~1.25" high, rounded cornered control unit on the wrap and allowed it to charge until full. Once completely charged, I snuggly wrapped the Venom 2 around my waist, centering the wide heating portion of the wrap on lower area of my back and secured the wrap with the Velcro-style flap. The Venom 2 felt extremely comfortable and flexible. It contoured to my back's profile. The control unit was well designed to be totally out of the way of my arms when I moved or swung them while walking. The control unit also was to the right side and out of the way when I had to move close to a counter, table or desk; yet, it was in the perfect position (for a right-handed person) to easily control the Venom 2. There are 3 soft push buttons on the top side of the control unit. The center button is the on / off power switch and a green LED which will light up, when the unit is powered on. The button to its left, while you are wearing the wrap, is the heat button, which you can push to access 3 levels of heat, with each push increasing it to the next level, which is visually displayed by 3 small white LEDs above the button. The 4th push on the button will turn the feature off. The button to its right is the Vibration button, which with each of 3 pushes, will provide a different pattern of vibrations. Again, the 4th push on the Vibration button will turn that feature off. It is amazing how fast the Venom 2 heats up! When you first put it on after charging, it takes a few seconds to heat, but after you have been using it, pushing the heat button gives you instantaneous and even heat and the 3rd level is delightfully very warm indeed! I would definitely have a tee shirt on while using it with heat (it keeps you from being burned and helps keep the wrap clean). As far as the vibration modes, I consider them a bonus, but probably won't use them very much. You would have to assess yourself how valuable they are to you. The Venom 2 does each of the heat and vibration modes in cycles. It will stay heated and / or (yes you can use them simultaneously!) vibrating for approximately 15 minutes, then will turn off those modes, while the overall power button will stay on for a few more minutes to allow you to restart a mode. After that few more minutes, the overall power will shut down to save power and will give you a couple of slight vibratory signals to let you know the unit turned off. If you have not totally depleted the battery, it will be ready to turn on again any time you desire. I have used the Venom 2 throughout the day at different intervals, usually just using the highest heat. I have yet to totally deplete the battery, so I cannot give a valid estimate of battery time. I believe you will find it very sufficient. So, all in all, the Hyperice - Venom 2 Back is extremely well designed to give you instantaneous heat and vibration in a comfortable, mobile format, is very easy to use, and very effective in providing back pain and tightness relief. I think it is a wonderful product!

Fast and effective
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have found that one problem with letting your kids try something before you do is that, if they like it, they tend to steal it from you. Such is the case with the Hyperice - Venom 2 Back. My child had just gotten home from an overseas flight and their back was killing them. They have serious pain issues with their back so I offered to let them try my new product. I had just finished charging it for the first time and hadn't even had a chance to try it myself! And it appears I won't get a chance. They've used it this week and says it has made such a difference in addressing their pain levels. It really helps in relaxing the muscles so they don't constrict around the sciatic nerve thus easing the pain. They appreciate that they can control the level of heat and vibrations so it is tailored to their needs. I appreciated how fast it appeared to work as I saw the stress from the pain they were in leave their face as it began to work. It seemed as if it was almost instantaneous. As a mother, you can imagine how relieved I felt. Now, some more practical matters. My child has a 42 inch waist but due to the flight, was a bit bloated. I was worried that the wrap may not work. While there was a bit of struggle at first to get it on and situated, it stayed wrapped and, with the bloating gone, there's been no problems wrapping and it staying in place. A huge plus for us is that this can be used internationally since my child now lives in Europe. While the plug is American, they include the plugs (in a nice little bag) you need to use it in most other countries so there are no problems with charging it. As it is 110-220, there is no need to have a converter with you. It was used for a bit over 2 hours before it was recharged but it still wasn't needed at that time, it just seemed like it was a good time to do it. My child gave it 5 stars for performance. I give it 5 stars for knowing my child's health is in good hands.
