I purchased this headset to be able to hear the game louder and clearer than the Turtle Beach Recon Spark, my previous headset. They definitely do that when connecting directly to PS4 controller. If you are looking to use the FULL FUNCTIONALITY of the Virtual 7.1 surround sound which is supplied through the USB, you will need to download HyperX Cloud Alpha S Device firmware update on your PC and update the headset. They have a reddit post posted by the company itself titled “The new Cloud Alpha S 4.1.0.4 firmware update is here” (posted 5 months ago) Through basic instruction you will be able to update the headset sound card and then it will work seamlessly for your console AND your PC. After updating, all functions on soundcard will work on PS4 and the game sound will blow your socks off. I hope this helped everyone because it definitely helped me!

I got these to use on my ps4 and PC. Make sure to update them as soon as you get them. Search online for setting them up for ps4 7.1. You need to follow specific steps. After updating you have to go into device manager and delete gaming chat and another feature for it to properly work on ps4. Don't worry about it not working on PC. Asson as you use it on pc those drivers automatically get reinstalled. The annoying thing is make sure to delete the two drivers when going back to ps4. Now these are only for gaming, they are not good for music they did not replace my other headphones. However, for gaming they function well since the trebble and mids sre pretty good. A fair warning the volume level on these are very high. But you have to use them on low. If you use them on high you will notice your ears will be very annoyed after a while. My mistake was putting these headphones at the same volume as my old headphones. These headphones are great for balancing sound and removing deep bass. You hear clearer and though sounds less emersive for music it does make it easier to hear footsteps and voices. Hence why they are great for gaming. At first I hated these. I was like my 30 dollar gaming headphones sound better, which arguably they do. However, my gameplay and awareness increased with these making these better even if the sounds are flat and clear.

At first I was disappointed with these. The sound felt muffled and not very sharp. But then I used the dolby settings on my PC to adjust the mixer which made it much better. I like the bass switches on the ear cups, and I find the pleather material very comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The size of the ear cups is great for me too, and I find others often too small. So at default I'd rate it a "meh," but after adjusting the mixer settings it's a "very good." I've included a screenshot of the mixer settings I found gives me the clearest sound while playing games. I keep my bass switches at half.

The headset is really well built. It provides great sound quality with the 7.1 surround sound and easy use chat mixer. The app that you download for more usability is a bit iffy at times but other than that it a quality product.

Let's start this by saying my melon is larger than most. I read nothing buy good reviews about this headset. I also found this price point to be very compelling for what was offered. Upon wearing the headset for two or three hours I began feeling my ears pressing against the drivers and it became unbearable. The only other thing i would change about this headset would be the ability to swivel the ear cup's left and right just a little more, there is almost no give in them as they are. The sound quality was great for this price point. In the end I purchased a pair of Astro A40's and haven't looked back. The most comfortable headset i have ever owned.

I used the HyperX Clouds extensively before this, and was excited that this finally came out. The build quality is still great, and the cobalt and black is an amazing choice that I much prefer over the red and black. The clamping is just a bit cozier than the Cloud when I first got it, but it isn't to the point of discomfort. The sound quality sounds definitely more tuned and balanced, as with the Clouds I felt it was sometimes a bit hollow. However, one of the funnest things on this headset is the bass slider, it ALMOST feels like nothing happens when I adjust it but I definitely hear the difference in bass heavy sounds in games (like explosives). Another thing to point out is the dual audio channel thing - it's puzzling at first but you can easily master it within like 20 minutes or so. It makes things SO much easier when adjusting volume for either Discord or the game I'm playing without having to alt-tab out. One of the best quality of life changes for the headset in my opinion! Like my Clouds before, they look great when out and about. All in all, you're getting a headset with the famous HyperX sound quality, but just with whole lots of new functions to make things convenient. It was a great purchase and I can't get over how pretty cobalt blue and black is! The ONLY thing that would make this great is just more RGB, lol. Great stuff HyperX!!

The Alpha S has really good sounds and the bass is amazing. Featuring 7.1 audio as well it really is good for hearing where your enemies are around you. All this for the price is amazing. I prefer the mesh cups when its hot and the leatherette when its colder.

Overall, this is a well made headset with a great, simple look and numerous features. The sound quality is great and the 7.1 surround sound audio is definitely a must-have for many current games. I also like the USB audio control box and bass adjustment sliders because they allow for convenient access to the headset's features. As for the headset itself, it is durable and overall extremely well made with a sleek look. For me, it fits snug and stays very comfortable, even after long periods of use.

The Cloud Alpha S is still comfortable for me to use even after long hours of wear and use. It's light but sturdy. AND the black and cobalt blue color is definitely one of my favorites among HyperX's headsets. I've nothing to complain about with the sound either; the bass slider is a neat feature and brings a lot to heavier sounds in-game.

These were a great pick up after my older alphas started to show so wear. I was surprised by the whole base slider thing as i'm not incredible audio savvy but it was really noticeable in certain games and while watching some of my youtube or Netflix shows. Also, are comfortable as always with the metal band never feels like they'll fall off like some of my previous headsets. Overall well worth the upgrade for the slight increase.

The sound quality and comfort of this headset is outstanding. The adjustable bass sliders really make a difference in games and music. Controlling the headset's features using the inline unit is easy and intuitive. I also like that HyperX went with a blue design instead of their typical red, which is great because it's my favorite color. Overall, I'd recommend this headset any day for its unmatched comfort, features, and performance.

The long search is finally over. Started out with a pair of Logitech G430 that would dig into my crown, a pair of Corsair HS50 that didn't have sidetone, and now we're here. These headphones have everything: - Sidetone/mic-monitoring, so you can finally STOP YELLING and hear your own voice - Great sound and 7.1 that doesn't simulate you wearing a pair of aluminium cans - Lightweight and extremely comfortable. I will unironically wear them around the house because of how comfy they are. All day, every day comfort. - Voice comms/Game volume adjuster. Does this DAC drive my car too? No. But it can clip onto your shirt so you won't feel the cable pulling down on your ear anymore. - This is just QOL, but the DAC and headset are separate. What's that? Cable twisted into a knot? Just unplug the two halves and straighten it out. It's the little things. - According to others, I sound clearer as well. Mic is adjustable to whatever you need. I know, I know. I'm comparing apples to oranges with two different price points, but I wouldn't splurge on headphones if my previous ones didn't suck. Don't cheap out on your headset; you'll wear it often. Get these. Trust me. But don't trust strangers on the internet. Just me. And only when it comes to these headphones. And eat your veggies.

I researched SEVERAL gaming headsets around the $100 range. Instore these were the most comfortable I found. Based on some features and online reviews, I actually purchased another brand. They were comfortable as well, but when I got them home, they were stiff and not as flexible. I also found the overall sound was great but I could not determine direction from the sounds while gaming. I returned those and bought the Hyper X Cloud S. The Hyper X was just as comfortable at home as the demo pair in the store. THE MOST comfortable of all the ones I tried. After hours of gaming I forget they are even on. The software leaves a little to be desired, however the sound is great. Most of all, I am able to hear directional footsteps and sound as in CODMW. The base could be a little stronger but I am talking about an 8 out of 10 in the base range. Still more than acceptable. I found no major issues with mic and I am told I sound very clear with no distortion. I have not used the Sidetone feature as of yet. I have used various headphones over the years; Turtle Beach, Logitech, Astro etc. The Hyper X Cloud S is great overall and at a decent price point, if you can grab them on sale as I did. These are my preferred headphones in my collection.

I use this primarily on PC, but also on PS4. The best part is how comfortable these are. The padded ear cushions are very soft. They also fit completely around my ears, which was surprising. I've never had that happen, since I'm a fairly big guy. The sound is great to my ears, but I don't have much of a frame of reference. At this point there are a lot of HyperX headsets and everyone's always arguing online about this one's better than that one or no, this one's better, etc. This is my first HyperX, so I can't actually compare it to previous models. All I know is that it sounds good and clear to me. Other headsets I've owned are the Arctis 3 and Arctis Pro. Obviously, the Cloud Alpha S doesn't sound as good as the Arctis Pro, but on the plus side you don't have to deal with SteelSeries' non-existant tech support when something does inevitably go wrong. The 7.1 VSS is good in some games, but not in others. You basically just have to try out for yourself. My only gripe would that I wish they gave you more customization control within the NGenuity app. I suppose that's not really necessary, though, as you can always use Dolby Atmos for Headphones or Equalizer APO + Peace EQ.

I like these headphones. The microphone does its job well - including noise cancellation. There could be some improvement on NC but it's not why I've marked off a star. These headphones fit REALLY tight. Longer recording sessions (an hour or longer really) and your ear lobes are likely going to start feeling it. This could be fixed by HyperX by them adding about a half inch of foam to their included ear cups, something that would cost them very little to do. The sound stage on these could be more open. Especially at the price point. They do sound nice, though a little weak on the bass if you ask me (even with the sliders opened all the way up). That said, I am used to 50mm drivers so the step down to 40mm does make a difference. Other than being soft on the bass, these do in fact have good sound. You can hear more than if you were to go buy a cheap pair of headphones off of Amazon. Oh, on fitment of these. If you wear glasses, you may want to invest in angled earcups for these, especially if your glasses are on the bigger side. After about 4 hours of having these on your skull (with the OEM earcups) the ends of your glasses behind your ears is going to be in quite a bit of pain the moment you take them off. It's happened to me a couple of times. Overall, if you have a medium or smaller sized jug or don't mind having your head be gripped tight, I would recommend these. If you are susceptible to headaches due to pressure, stay away!

The comfort is the number one thing I can say about this product, it lives up to the hype as far as comfort is concerned. Two choices of colorways, black or blue. I currently use the blue colorway, my fiancee just got the black one which also looks really good in my opinion. You get two sets of ear pads which you can choose to use based on your personal preference. The build quality is good, no issues. Overall a good quality product you won't be disappointed with. Sound quality can be subjective to the user. I think they should great. The bass sliders I don't play with, I just left them the way they came and haven't had a shred to complain about as far as sound quality goes. The microphone is perfectly fine, it's not going to sound the same as a studio condenser microphone, but it gets the job done no problem. You can also activate microphone side tone using the usb controller if that's an option you like to use. Cable length is very generous and should accommodate all users.

Got it on sale at $99 (same price as HyperX Cloud II). I upgraded to these from the original HyperX Cloud which was finally starting to fall apart at the headband from use. Personally I've found the 7.1 surround to be more of a detriment then a help. While I do use the sound card, usually I just plug in the headphones directly through aux without the card. It's not a terrible sound though I do find the bass lacking. The original HyperX Clouds had better bass. I'm hopeful the sound card can help by saving some sound adjustments to help with the bass a bit. I also find these slightly more snug and makes it a tad more warm around my ears. Not uncomfortable though. These do live up to the HyperX Cloud standard of comfort, wear these the majority of the day and they never get uncomfortable. I personally also like the way they look. Haven't tried the mic yet, can't speak to that. They are a solid headset, but I would say from other reviews to get the HyperX Cloud IIs if bass is super important to you. I'm still a bit dissapointed about the bass.

I had wiresless Steelseries headphones for quite some time. They sounded what I thought was great, mic was ok and they were semi comfortable. For 300.00 headphones I was never really impressed. The mic broke after a year of use. I tried to repair with no avail. I've known about HyperX as the original clouds were the staple of gaming headsets back in the day. I spent about a month milling around trying to make a decision. I have used these for two weeks now and let me say just a few things. 1. These sound better than ANY headphones I have used (bose, beats, sony). I mean they sound TOP notch. 2. Most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. I had an 9hr session this weekend and they were 100% comfortable the whole time. 3. Mic is absolutely amazing. All my buddies noticed right away. Some said I sounded just as clear as my buddy who is using a blueyeti. 4. The min sound card with chat button is CLUTCH. Hit one button and everything goes quite excluding the mic. GET THESE IF YOU ARE DEBATING!

I have a pretty large head and I always have trouble with headsets being slightly too small, not with these! They are actually a bit larger than my previous set of the same brand. Ear cups are a bit smaller but the headband is larger. The sound is pretty average until you turn on the (virtual) 7.1 surround sound, they are quite lovely at that point. The mic is good and I recommend this headset (especially if you have a larger head).

*Disclaimer, This headset DOES work for both console and PC, with the 3.5mm jack used for the console, and the 3.5mm jack or USB mixer for PC.* Decided to pick these up after building a new gaming PC and I’m glad I did. The headset has a great dynamic range for half the price of some “premium gaming headsets”, with little to no dropoff in terms of gaming. Upgrading to these from Astro A10’s was a great choice, although for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare/Warzone, and other footstep-dependent games, you may need to play with the audio presets a bit, as this headset does come more high-end frequency-based than some other headsets on the market. Also, it isn’t a huge deal because that’s the price you pay for a wired headset, but the headset-mixer wire and the mixer-PC wire do tend to get tangled pretty easily and can become annoying. The mixer is pretty handy, although I personally do not use the 7.1 Surround Sound when gaming. Overall, I definitely recommend these.
