HyperX - Cloud Alpha S Short Review

The HyperX - Cloud Alpha S is a successor to the Alpha and Cloud II's. The audio quality is pretty good for the price. It is not audiophile quality by any means, however it is good enough for gaming applications. Plus there is the added benefit of having no included software to download and bloat your pc with.

So after trying three different headsets most of them wireless all three had some kind of issue whether it was the mic or the sound they were just bad in there on ways but after taking these home and trying them on and using them for a while I knew these were the ones for me great sound and the mic works perfect!

I've Been Ruined By the Cloud 2's

I got this in today (9/30/19) and was overall a little disappointed. I mainly play a couple different unique online shooters on PC and I've been using the Hyper X Cloud 2 for like 4 years now. I've tried 7 headsets or so all of high quality/price and none compare to the Cloud 2 ($100). Specifically, I'm referring to the bass. I don't know what it is exactly but the Cloud 2's sound stage just sounds fuller and punchier to me than anything else. You can hear footsteps WAY better and it just seems like it has more of a louder sound stage than the Alpha S. The Alpha S isn't bad, but for something that cost $30 more, I'd say get the Cloud 2's. I'm returning this and trying out the much more expensive Orbit, to see if that will meet my needs, if not, I'll just go back to the Cloud 2's most likely. I don't know what they did when making the 2's but in my mind, they struck gold and should make another headset very similar to that.

I hate to say it, but these are just horrible if you care about sound quality at all. When connected through the included USB audio control mixer, the sound is "fine". Nothing about it is great but nothing is too bad...yet. I tried to use these on my Dell laptop and while they work in their normal mode, the virtual surround mode just flat out doesn't work at all. No audio whatsoever. Their instructions are outdated so you have to just kind of mess with things until windows says surround is on. When plugged into my laptop without the USB mixer things really get bad. The bass is weak, the mids are muddied and the highs are tinny. When I hooked them up to my FiiO DAC/AMP things improved a little. There was more power and I had a little more room to try to boost the bass more, but it was still pointless. No matter what I did, I just couldn't get these to sound good. I hooked up my old Oneodio A71 headphones to compare and they sounded world's better. What's sad is those A71's only cost $30-40. These advertise adjustable bass, but that's a lie. What you get is a switch on the back of the cups that opens a little port hole, making them work a bit more like open back headphones. It doesn't boost the bass, it lets more air move around, thus changing the whole sound profile. I do admit the build quality is solid, though the headphone cable could use another foot to its length in my opinion. A few years ago I would have recommended HyperX headphones. I loved my Cloud II's. And maybe those are still good headphones. But I would avoid these like the plague.

This is a great headset. The only problem I can think of is l, the cord does twist up quite a bit, so it needs straightened from time to time. I think that is similar to really any wired headset though. Sound quality is fantastic though.

The only problem with this headset is that the cord in between the computer and the 7.1 controller is too long and is always dragging on the floor, also also the cord from the controller to the headphone is too short and it's always tangling / twisting up. Other than that an awesome set of headphones

If you're looking for a really comfortable great sounding headphone for both PC and xbox one I highly recommend this product. I've gone through this company before in the past and they have really good customer service. If anything ends up happening to your headphone within one year it'll be covered 100% free through the company. 10 out of 10

Great headset for me. I play CSGO, COD, DBD, and this headset has done great. Can hear breathing in DBD, and footsteps in Csgo perfect. I returned Astro A50s for these. The mic is also amazing, filters out a ton more noise than compared to previous versions like Cloud 2.
