The HyperX Quadcast 2 S microphone is a quality microphone that is great for anyone wanting to upgrade their microphone setup. It’s well built, durable and very aesthetically pleasing. My son and I have been using this for our gaming setup and it is definitely a big step up from the standard headset microphone. This microphone has great sound production and has four settings to choose from based on your needs. The RGB function looks great and gives it that extra pop of color. The Ngenuity software is great as well. It allows you to further customize the Quadcast 2 and works very well. Another great feature I like is the tap to mute function. Just give it a tap and you’ll be muted. Also, the included detachable shock mount works well. Helps keep any unwanted thumps from going through the microphone. It is a good out of the box option but I’d recommend getting the boom arm if you can. Overall, the Quadcast 2 S is an excellent option whether you’re a gamer, podcaster, streamer or professional. I strongly recommend this microphone!

Whether you're a streamer, gamer or just need a good method to communicate over Zoom, there's always a need for a good microphone. Packaging: Comes in a white and red HyperX liveried box, well packaged and with all of everything you'd need to get rolling, the mic, stand and cable as well as an adapter for USB A to C if needed Installation and Use: The mic is recognized instantly by my PC, but to control the lighting and some of the advanced effects are managed by the HyperX NGENUITY app, which allows you to modify profiles for different needs. The mic itself has capabilities to be omnidirectional, cardioid, stereo, and bidirectional based on your needs and the sound profile you want to accomplish. The top of the mic can be tapped to mute it, and the dial on the front is multifunctional, allowing you to manage gain, mix, volume and act as a VU meter. The mic has a shock mount so anything that may occur to your desk wont translate into noise into the microphone. Finally, it can be mounted to a microphone arm as well so it doesn't need to sit on your desk in front of you, though as a streamer, if having the lighting effects in view, it may be a worthwhile consideration rather than having it above, to the side or out of view. There's many things that lend to the superb audio quality, not the least of which is the capability of the mic itself, but they thought of the little things when it came to this mic as well. It has all the advanced features someone would need while not being complicated to use or set up. Overall: It has a ton of uses and the audio quality is superb, it's great for all forms of voice communication and I highly recommend it.

The HyperX QuadCast 2 S: Stylish Mic For Streaming

I've been a fan of the Yeti series of microphones since I started my first podcast in 2008. In terms of plug-and-play usability and portability, Yeti couldn't be beat. Enter HyperX with the QuadCast series; because I'm a regular with a Yeti and not so much with HyperX, I'll be doing a bit of compare-and-contrast in this review. Both are around the same price points with similar features. The QuadCast 2 S is certainly flashy with over 100 customizable aRGB LEDs that are customizable on a Windows machine by using the NGENUITY software. You can also use that software to fine-tune the specific recording pattern settings and such. If you're on a Mac, you're out of luck (or at least, stuck with the default but very pretty rainbow pattern and default settings -- although another reviewer did mention you can save the lighting profile to the mic's internal memory). You won't find decorative LEDs on a Yeti Pro X. Both designs are attractive in their own right, but the LEDs certainly make for a very fun setup if it's on brand for you (or just fun for fun's sake!) I will say that the color capabilities and brightness are very, very pretty. If you are new to gaming and streaming mics, you'll want to take a lot of time to find the right settings and customizations to match your use case and voice. Out of the box I noticed the included external shock mount and stand that was purpose-built to be removable and swappable for a boom stand (a long-arm adjustable pole for your mic to over with). While I don't use that kind of setup for myself, the attention to detail here was very much appreciated. Compare and contrast with the Yeti Pro X, which has an internal shock mount around the condensers themselves, and occasionally I've noted transfer between bumping the table and noise in the mic, whereas I did not notice the same on the HyperX QuadCast 2 S. Speaking of condensers, the Yeti Pro X has 4 condensers to assist with audio capture; the HyperX QuadCast 2 S has 3. Both have very similar specifications when it comes to audio capture, and my experiments on default settings yielded very similar results in terms of just general voiceover and presence. The capture and sound profile settings are identical as well (Cardioid - heart shaped for a podcaster or streamer speaking right at the mic, Omnidirectional - great for music recording in all directions around a space, Stereo - great for capturing directional audio aimed at a focal point, and Bidirectional - aimed at making interviews easier without having to have multiple mics). The touch-button top to mute is at a stark contrast to the front-facing twist-knob/push-button combo control. To change the recording pattern, you have to press the knob in for 2 seconds before it switches with an LED indicator on the of the microphone to tell you which pattern is currently active. They put a LOT of effort into the touch button and display at the top, and because most folks don't change this setting very often, it's not a big deal, but any parent will tell you that the first thing kids go for is shiny, colorful things with buttons. And I've certainly been caught off guard when the kids have "optimized" my settings on similar devices. To be honest, this is the primary reason for the 4 out of 5 rating - the user interface is almost always the thing that causes the most problems for streamers. Speaking of which: the UX specifically showcases that the mic is muted or not on the front-facing monitor LEDs, as well as (in default mode) shutting off the mic's colorful LEDs. The LONG USB-C cable with the included USB-A adapter is pretty helpful, but I do have to say my favorite part of this mic is the cord management for desktop purposes. The cord exits out the BACK of the mic, making it super easy to route your cords without worry of looking junky. Unfortunately this is the exact opposite for the headphone jack, which should be located on or near the front or the bottom of the mic because most headphone cords are too short to begin with before being routed around your keyboard and everything else. This is more of an ergonomic consideration than anything else. So... all told: is this a gaming mic I'd be happy with? Heck yes. Would I use it on my business podcast? Probably not... but I'd use it on something more fun. Overall, great audio quality, great noise reduction on default settings, the audio patterns behave exactly like you expect them to, and the responsiveness of the mic is exactly what you'd hope for out of a gaming mic. Could it be better? Sure - no device is perfectly optimized for every use case and every setup, but this one is REALLY good out of the box and fun to boot.

I purchased the HyperX QuadCast 2 S to replace my WOW Blue microphone. The RGB lighting is great and setup was quick and easy. The build quality is great and the price was great too being on sale (sale price was $143.99 versus regular price at $199.99). I highly recommend this product if you're looking for a high quality microphone with RGB!

I was very happy to receive this new Hyperx Quadcast 2 S RGB Microphone (Black) for testing and review. My prior microphone did not have the RGB feature which makes the Hyperx visually very appealing in my office when lit up and operating. The Hyperx Quadcast S 2 comes with dynamic lighting display, a tap to mute/unmute sensor, a redesigned detachable microphone shock-mount, mic status indicators, a multifunction knob as well as four additional polar lighting patters, The Quadcast also features great best-in-class audio recording resolution on a consumer USB gaming microphone on the market today. The attached vibration dampening shock mount is easy to detach using its spring-loaded pins and the joint is compatible with 3/8" and 5/8" threading. Selectable polar patters include omni-directional, bi-directional, or stereo to provide a variety of recording needs. This colorful Hyperx microphone provides 100+ customizable RGB LEDs allowing users to display over 16M color options. The tap to mute/unmute the microphone makes it easy to to manage what is heard. A multifunction knob allows the user to adjust microphone gain, headphone volume, monitor mix and the polar pattern. An LED VU meter is also included. Based on all the features, the quality design and build of this new Hyperx Qualcast 2 S - RGB USB Microphone, I highly recommend it to you.

    Set and Forget Quality

The HyperX QuadCast 2 S microphone is worth the cost for audio quality, period. The clarity and quality of the voice with out of the box default settings is incredible and I found no need for advanced settings or tweaking. That being said, there ARE no advanced settings to adjust the vocal patterns as they pass through the microphone. This is my only issue with the mic as I like to have some fine tuning for my vocals. There is only one "High Pass Filter" checkbox and you can decide if it's on or off. It also comes with four preset patterns for sound pickup detection so I can only assume these more advanced settings are happening on the back end for each of these patterns. These patterns can also be manually adjusted with the press-and-hold of the mic gain button. Convenient, unless you mount the mic on an arm upside down and you can't see the ring that shows you which pattern is currently selected. It's also difficult to get the physical gain knob to be responsive without using the software. Also, if you open the software or set the software to open on PC startup, it defaults all the settings. So set what you want, then never touch the software again. As I stated at the beginning though, you don't really need these advanced settings because the quality is SO good. One thing you want to do is go into your computer sound settings and change the quality. The mic supports up to 32-bit and 192kHz signal quality which is how this powerhouse microphone is able to still deliver top-tier audio without all the fine tuning. The RGB is fun to mess with as well, but didn't add a whole lot for me. I have a slow diagonally shifting color-wave, but I also keep the mic so close to me that I never really see it. Trying to save preset color patterns to the mic resulted in a couple of hard software crashes, rendering the mic unresponsive until I unplugged it for a few minutes or shut off the computer. It also told me I couldn't save it because a specific color pattern was active (it wasn't), but then it let me save anyway. The color shifts aren't as smooth as I anticipated given the abundant ARGB lights. Overall a great product that I am very happy with.
