Outside the cannon of the main series, but still offering insite to things unseen in Breath of the Wlild. This game was quite a treat, fun and intuitive gameplay, and a great story.

I’m having so much fun with this new Zelda game because it’s so easy to play and you can be different characters. It adds to the Zelda series and because I love the Zelda series it’s a game I had to add to my collection.

This game tells a great story leading up to the greatest video game of all time. I have one major problem with it, but can't blame them for doing it, and that's that it rewrites the history from the original Breath of the Wild. You'll see what I mean when you play it. I felt like it would have been more striking and memorable if they had stayed more true to the source material. In terms of gameplay and value, this game is loaded. And the changes they did make also make for their own memorable set pieces, so it's still wonderful! It's got many hours of gameplay, but it does get quite repetitive if you're not super excited about the same basic events/processes. Regardless, the gameplay is fun, and you will get lots of great entertainment out of this for the price.

Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity is an interesting game. Nintendo created a fantastic story, cutscenes, with voice acting, etc. that tell the story of the war that transpired 100 years before the events in Breath of the Wild. However, Age of Calamity is not an open world game like Breath of the World. It uses the gameplay of the Hyrule Warriors franchise, but tied into the amazing story. Therefore, for me, Age of Calamity is a 10/10 whereas I really did not even want to play the original Hyrule Warriors. Furthermore, there's over twenty hours of gameplay here. Therefore, if you want to know more of the story from the world of Zelda, you will enjoy this game. Nevertheless, be prepared that the actual combat will be similar to Hyrule Warriors and mission based, not open world.

If BotW had "large scale battle missions" and combos/special attacks and multiple playable characters then this is that game. It's a lot of fun - the only thing knocking this down a star is the framerate - it could be a lot smoother but it frequently dips below 30 fps.

Lovely new addition to the Zelda games a nice time filler easy to play for everyone I loved it exspecially all the story in this game gives so much additional co tent to botw a must own game for switch and Zelda fans

Enjoyable. I’ve never been a huge fan of the “smash the buttons” kind of game but this one is well done and beat of all is a chance to return to the story line of Breath of the Wild while we await the next installment.

The game is fun plays different from botw but its still a great game couch co op or solo definitely recommend

I’m a fan of Warriors and Zelda games. The first Hyrule Warriors was one of my most played Wii U games, and I’ve already sunken in dozens of hours into Age of Calamity. It’s fast-paced, high octane fun. The story is deep, and if you like the characters from Breath of the Wild, Age of Calamity offers more depth and insight into these figures. If you’re only a fan of Zelda titles, and not Warriors gameplay, I’m hesitant to suggest this title to you. If you like hack and slashes, with a touch of strategy, Age of Calamity offers an exciting piece to your collection.

The marketing/reviews were keen on stating this is NOT just a Warriors game with a Zelda skin, but it basically still is. The game suffers from huge frame rate drops, but is still very fun. Story is so-so. Not a MUST for Zelda fans and honestly the first Hyrule Warriors is better for Warrior fans.

The 2 player co-op play is great for my kids and I to play together. The story is fun and if you played Breath of the Wild, all of the ties between the two titles make this game even better.

Really fun hack n slash Zelda game. For anyone that enjoyed Breath of the Wild and Hyrule Warriors, this is the perfect blend. Lots of action and content. Highly recommended.

If you’re a Zelda fan this is a must. This was my first Hyrule warriors game and was thoroughly impressed by the game mechanics. The story left me satisfied and even more excited for Botw2!!

Somewhat repetitive gameplay is expected with this type of game. Otherwise, it is fun to play, a great way to waste time, and has a great story. It answers many questions as a prequel to Breath of the Wild. I was very impressed by how far Switch graphics have come as this game looks AAA.

I have around 60 hours in this game and still have things to do. If you like hack and slash then this game is for you. It is grindy at somepoints but overall a good game

Fair warning: this isn't the same kind of game as Breath of the Wild. It's a Warriors game—hacking your way through waves of enemies and taking on bosses with some light battlefield strategy. And it won't tell you the story of Breath of the Wild—it's yet another classic Nintendo forked timeline. It's very addictive, though. I thought I was going to pack it in, but then ended up following a post-game quest (I blame the emotional hook, in part), and eventually ended up doing absolutely everything except find all the little hidden Korok forest creatures. I think they improved on the original Hyrule Warriors, too—it's really satisfying to play. Great game.

Got this as a Christmas gift for our children and they absolutely love it. We have Breath of the Wild which they also love playing. Hyrule Warriors is more action packed and while different than BOTA, it has a familiar feel. In Hyrule, the first person player gets to go up against larger groups of enemies. The game is different in a good way and captures the imaginations of our young to middle-teenaged children. A game that you'll have lots of fun playing for a long time. Worth the purchase and highly recommended!

Got this for my son for Christmas. My son and daughter played this for hours until they beat the main plot line and LOVED it. Great story and good game if you are waiting for BOTW 2!

Excellent addition to the Warriors franchise. Unique characters to use, fun gameplay, and neat overworld map that's reminiscent of Breath of the Wild. Definitely check this out!

Great story and fun slasher game. You get to play as multiple characters. Have only played single player, camera angle can get messed up for a few seconds sometimes.
