This cheap anti-static wrist strap is no exception. It allows for a nice range of movement as it should and the clamp has plenty of tension. Obviously there's not much too it. Plus supporting Ifixit and their right to repair practices is always a plus.

If you're not in a house with carpeting and it feels like you're in a swamp, or a particularly sweaty armpit, you should still get this anyway. Don't accidentally brick your expensive GPU by carrying static electricity on your grubby little fingers - have you SEEN the prices of those things nowadays?

No way to know if it was necessary, but better safe than sorry. It is impossible to know if it prevented any static, you just have to trust that it did. I will use it every time I have the case open.
