Tried multiple cds all with no scratches. Need to return now and look for something else.

I carry it in a backpack and I cant say how being sideways affects it but its best at home, as a sleep aid, or on the road, no wifi needed, quiet in a hotel room or public place. Or can connect to a speaker. But it seems to run out of batteries fast. So bring one extra set with you, and It will last. Or just on your table. But the LCD screen does not glow, so youll need a lamp, but it would just keep you up anyway. If you do use it to sleep. Otherwise it provides different audio level presets. Try it out, you may hear something new on your favorite songs.

This is my first portable CD player since then. Glad I invested in this the head phones aren't good quality so get studio head phones because they are great. The batteries that come with the CD player aren't name brand but if you don't mind that then use them.

I like to listen to audiobooks at bedtime and don’t like having to wear earplugs but price was reasonable and unit is strong and easy to use.
