I've wanted an iMac since I was a kid. I'm 30 now, and this is the first time I've actually taken the plunge (although I've been in the Apple ecosystem for a solid 17 years). It just never really made sense for me. In college and grad school, I was always on the go, in class, in the library, etc. -- a laptop just made more sense most of my adult life. But now, being lucky enough to work remotely some of the time, I finally took the opportunity to invest in the luxury of an iMac. And while part of me is screaming "why did you wait so long" the other part of me is screaming "thank goodness you waited -- this exactly what you've been waiting for."
I can honestly say I'm blown away. The M1 processor flies (and this is coming from a fully spec'd 16" MBP). Not only is it fast enough not to lag, but it's just "snappier" than the old intel machines.
For example, Google "web browser speed test" and run a "speedometer" test on your current machine. My 16" MBP was pulling numbers in the 130s, which is fast, but this M1 iMac literally maxes out the scale. It's running 200+. And it's noticeable. Paired with a gigabit fiber connection, it's almost an instantaneous experience web browsing, which really comes in handy for the work I do, which involves a lot of legal research.
The Touch ID on the magic keyboard is so convenient. And the display/overall aesthetic is absolutely stunning and minimalist. It's like a piece of art -- doesn't just fit in any room you put it in, it adds to it. You want this thing where you can see it. And it's a Mac -- everything just works. Well.
I was using an LG Ultrafine 5K display before this, but I kid you not, using this iMac is a much nicer experience in every way. Don't get me wrong, the 27" 5K display is awesome, but this is just so clean, and the screen is beautiful. You don't miss the extra 3 inches. I actually just pick it up and move it from my home office to my living room when I feel like a change of scenery, as opposed to switching to the MacBook Pro. And the white bezels are actually really great, despite them being somewhat polarizing. In low light, they fade and almost look grey. In bright light, they fade into the white wall behind them. It's this effect where the screen just feels like it's floating in thin air. I can tell it's not by accident.
As you can tell, I'm completely sold on this machine. The rave reviews are not overblown. It is impossible to oversell the M1 iMac if you truly value a great computing experience (and especially if you spend a lot of time working on one).
That said, will I switch to the larger 32" ("pro?") M1X/M2 version when it's finally released? Maybe. Honestly, I was holding out until WWDC to see if they announced it. However, like I said before, I really think this screen size is pretty perfect. And the quasi-portability of it, despite it being a desktop computer, is honestly awesome. The experience is expansive and immersive, while the chassis is compact and light enough to easily move from room to room (or porch for that matter) whenever I feel like it. It's fantastic. It's honestly going to take a lot to get me to switch to anything else. I'm not counting it out, but just wow. It's hard to see how it could get much better than this, at least for me. Quintessential Apple.

One of the best investments I’ve made. It’s been such an easy process to transition to a work from home position. I can work, edit videos and pictures, and listen to YouTube all at the same time without the MAC crashing. I love my iMAC and wouldn’t trade it for another.

Easy set up, simple but beautiful design (love the color), and it does exactly what we need it to do (watch videos, search internet, schoolwork, etc.). Easy Touch ID setup and use, makes login faster.

Unbelievable! Ran some program tests for this machine against a 2019 16-inch MacBook Pro i7 with 16gbs ram and this iMac was 2.8 times faster in tests and the web browsing test program gave this machine double the numbers than the i7 MBP (222 vs 128). Packaging is nice, plastic film to protect it all around, and the display is very crisp and colorful. Excellent machine and definitely worth the purchase to last the next 10 years!

iMac.s current generation is a co rideable step up from previous models. Fast and responsive the machine provides incredible performance for a good price for a Mac. As with most IMAX, it’s capable of doing more while using pure resources. I’ve been able to edit video play games and perform other tasks without ever straining the system resources.

After my 27" Mac was damaged while moving after 8 years of great service, I moved into an apartment with a smaller desk. I was concerned about a smaller screen. I could not have been more wrong. I love this thing! Plenty of real estate, fits nicely on my desk and the quality of the screen is really perfect. Very fast and I love the Touch security keyboard. Highly recommend.

Aside from being extremely responsive and having an extraordinary screen…it is a piece of art! Hope the performance level continues for a long time. Performance levels of many of my previous Apple products have deteriorated over time. Hoping the Apple chip makes a difference. So far, I’m very satisfied.

It's excellent and fast and does my video editing in as little as 1 minute! imovie is just freaking great and so easy to use. Windows still has freezing issues with windows 10 and 11 and I got so sick of it. Apple really is faster and better! They cost more but they are worth it big time.

I had an iMac which lasted 9 years before I purchased 24" iMac. The M1 chip is fast as lightning!! Many of the items on my last apple iMac was installed in this 24". So it was relatively easy to use the computer. I had some problems with setting up e-mail but James the Geek guy solved the problem. I highly recommend the computer.

Bought this one used, kinda beat up, but it was very cheap. I forget the exact price. Works great as a general purpose machine, especially as a streaming services client. The chip in these are rather old, so anything more than general purpose should look elsewhere.

I decided to upgrade from my 2017 iMac. I really like the size and the different color options. I do wish the Apple logo was on the from bezel. This is a very nice and well built computer; I love the minimalist design. The speakers are loud. The FaceTime camera is definitely noticeable from previous iMac generations; it is a huge plus.

This Mac is far better than any Mac made thus far. Finger print recognition keeps unwanted users off. I thought the screen wouldn’t be large enough ( i have a vision impairment) but once I got it home and started using it…..perfect size. It easily syncs with my iPad 11 Pro and iPhone 13 Max.
