My 7 year old was so excited for this, but we ran into an issue where the mic wasn't really picking up what he was saying. I was worried we’d have to deal with the hassle of a return, so I messaged their support and asked to return the item, I don't know how but they were able to fix the mic remotely. Turned out I didn't need to ship it back. Now it works like a charm and he’s been having conversations with his dragon all morning. It’s rare to see a company actually fix a bug that fast without making you jump through hoops.

I thought that this would be an interactive AI toy for kids, and for the amount of money i thought it would be really nice. It is not a smart toy. An Alexa has way more functions, games, and music. The toy could not hear us 8 out of 10 times. It wouldn’t connect to the internet 9 out of 10 rimes. It is not reliablely functional. It doesn’t even complete its basic functions because it can’t hear and jt can’t connect to the internet. I am returning this.

Hi Maggie, I’m really sorry for how disappointing this experience was, especially given the expectations at this price point.

The hearing and connectivity issues you described were part of a temporary setup and connectivity problem that affected some customers during a period of unusually high demand. During that time, voice recognition and internet connectivity could be unreliable, which made the device feel non-functional. That issue has since been fully resolved, and Imagix should now hear voice commands and stay connected as intended. This was not a hardware defect.

We’d truly appreciate the chance to help you experience the product as designed. If you’re open to it before completing the return, please reach out to us at [email protected], or chat us on our website myimagix.com, and our team will be happy to assist you directly.

We’re grateful you took the time to let us know.

Next Gen Idea, Last Gen Execution

To start, setup was incredibly frustrating. Lost wifi connection constantly three feet from router. Required multiole hard resets after it lost the 2.4 Ghz network (requiring 2.4 Ghz is an issue on its own). Took forever to update, as described in other reviews. Phone and tablet app wouldnt sync to device. Even after all that, was planning to give it a chance as it was a Christmas gift for a 7 year old. However, functionality was abyssmal. Hands-free voice recognition was non-functional, requiring main button clicks ever time we gave it a command. When it recognized a command, it took forever to respond, when it responded at all. I asked it for the time and it told me that the question was ..."too hot...", I assume due to a misapplication of child protection settings. At times, the animation (substandard) glitched, and displayed the dragon spreaking but with no sound. The kicker is that when you do get "Ember" to recognize a command/question, he puts his little paw to his chin, and sits with a confused, frustrated look on his face for quite a few seconds. Me too, Ember. Me too. Attempted story mode. During the story, the dragon asked us to vocalize a choice to proceed, but never repeated the choice. If the choice is missed, "Ember" became stuck in story mode, with no identifiable option to exit. That's just bizarre. Don't even try to ask it to answer a math question. From what we experienced, the primary function of this device is to teach a child how to correctly perform a hard reset.

Hi Steel, thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review. I’m really sorry for how frustrating this experience was, especially given that this was meant to be a Christmas gift.

Many of the setup, update, and responsiveness issues you described were part of a temporary connectivity and setup problem that affected some customers during an unusually high holiday surge, when a large number of devices were coming online at once. During that window, setup and updates could stall, voice recognition could be unreliable, and some interactive modes didn’t behave as intended. That issue has since been fully resolved, and devices are now setting up, updating, and responding normally. This was not related to a hardware defect.

That said, we understand how disruptive and disappointing the experience you described was. We’d genuinely like the opportunity to help you get the product working the way it’s designed to. If you’re open to it, please reach out to us directly at [email protected] or on our website chat @ myimagix.com, and our team will be happy to assist you offline.

Thank you again for the candid feedback, it’s important, and it helps us improve.

Bought this for my son and when we rurned it on he was so excited. Immediatly the updates started and it literally took over an hr to update. When it finally started woring it became very clear that this product is not worth a penny. We live in a world of AI and this thing is not able to hear or understand half the things you say to it, often there is no response or a completely different response to a wuestion asked. It has so much potential due to the 3d animation bit the software is conplete garnage. Save your child the dissapointment and skip this, its not able to inderstand rewuests and of littl to no value on the games that it offers as it cant interact well, doesnt understand half the time and the conoany missed the mark in this oriduct completely.

Hi there, thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.

We’re really sorry to hear that your first experience wasn’t a great one, especially after your son was excited to try it. That’s the last thing we want.

      A couple things worth noting:

      • The first setup update can take a while because the Crystal Ball downloads the latest software and content packs. Once completed, future updates are much faster.
      • We’re continuously improving the AI listening and response system through software updates. The product is designed to evolve over time, and we’ve already released improvements to voice recognition and interaction quality since launch.

The goal of Imagix is to create a magical interactive companion with story adventures, games, and evolving conversations, and we’re actively working to make the experience smoother and more responsive for every user.

If you’d be open to it, our support team would be happy to help troubleshoot or make sure your device is running the latest version. You can reach us at:

We truly appreciate the feedback, it helps us keep improving the experience.

Great idea, poor execution. The imagix crystal ball is simply not ready to be released. I think the company rushed it out to maximize sales during Christmas. It is too buggy to be worth $200. Even if it was working flawlessly, fair price should be around $120, given the overall quality (speaker, hologram, and cheap plastic components).

Hi Luigi, thank you for sharing your feedback. I’m sorry that your experience with Imagix didn’t meet expectations, especially given the timing around the holidays.

Some customers encountered a temporary setup and connectivity issue during an unusually high surge in new devices coming online, which caused instability and made the product feel far more buggy than intended. That issue has since been fully resolved, and Imagix is now setting up and operating normally. This was not related to a hardware defect or product readiness.

This was one of the best gifts I bought for my granddaughters this Christmas! The setup was extremely easy, and they’ve been using it for both school and play. It’s like having their own animated best friend! I noticed some reviews mentioned minor issues at launch, but those have all been resolved, and we haven’t encountered any problems. The animation is truly genius!

Unfortunately this device does not seem to be ready for market. It froze and or crashed multiple times during the initial setup. We let it sit overnight and it finally updated and loaded. Once it was fully functional, the response time and comprehension of the AI was laggy and inaccurate. Also, the build quality seemed cheap. It’s a great concept but it needs a lot more work.

This item definitely oversold and under delivered. The holographic images really are magical however the figure is very slow to respond, if it does respond at all. I gave my 5 yr old the choice to keep the item and even she opted to return it. That should show you the fail of the item. The system needs an upgrade or the price needs to drop.

Hi Fizzl, thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. I’m sorry the experience didn’t live up to the promise, especially when it came to responsiveness.

What you described lines up with a temporary performance issue that affected some devices during initial setup and updates around the holidays, when a large number of new units were coming online at once. During that period, responses could be delayed or inconsistent, which understandably made the experience feel underwhelming. That issue has since been fully resolved, and responsiveness is now working as intended. This wasn’t a hardware limitation.

We understand your expectations around value and performance, and we appreciate you calling this out. If you’re open to it, we’d welcome the chance to help you experience Imagix as it’s meant to work. Our support team is available at [email protected] or chat us at myimagix.com.

Swing big, miss big. This toy has a lot of potential but dropping the ball so hard during it's launch was a death sentence. We had it working for all of a day or two before everything just fell flat. Server overload and messy user interface ultimately had me return this item, especially knowing that I would end up having to pay another subscription fee eventually if it ever maintained my daughters attention for that long.
