    Great protection

    Posted .

I bought this case because I wanted to protect my iPad 2, which I feel is more of an investment than a "toy". I wanted something to cover the aluminum back and I wanted a hard case that would also give added protection from tables, desks, etc. As far as these concerns go, this case shines in my book. It leaves easy access for the volume, mute and power buttons, I can charge it easily, and it works flawlessly with my Apple Smart Cover. My only negative experience is the same with most other reviewers: the magnetic strip closest to the edge of the case come unglued after extensive use. It's only glue, so a little bit of super glue holds it back in place. It doesn't cause any damage to the iPad, case, or Smart Cover. However, if you don't buy a Smart Cover or other magnetic alternative, you probably won't come across this issue in the first place.

    Nit pick

    Posted .

Other reviews are pretty spot on, although one person said this thing is hard to get off, and that's just not the case. You just push on the bottom left or top left corner and it comes right off. So minus the positives, let me nit pick, not to be critical but to be helpful for readers. There are thinner backs out there that do the same thing (Belkin)--and cheaper, too. I think $40 is waaaay too much for this type of plastic, and for what it does, I only bought it because I had a rewards certificate that needed using. I really think they would sell many more if it were less and still keep similar profit, and get their brand out even more. I was surprised by how heavy it is. It is actually fairly thick--which isn't a good thing in and of itself but this does protect it more. Furthermore, there are magnets in the back that add to the weight. They aren't very big, but it does add ounces. So one I have that on with the smartcover, it's starting to feel more like I'm holding a book than I am holding a lightweight tablet device. This isn't a big pain or anything, but it does make a psychological difference about how I feel about the entire product as a whole while I'm holding/using it. It also makes me use two hands more than one hand, which again, is a difference to take note of. So it's thicker and heavier, and that might bother some people. Again, that Belkin might be a good option--it's $10 cheaper and thinner, has a semi-opaque color (not as nice), but maybe isn't stronger. Nearly exact same thing though. I have a blue cover, and I don't know if the combination of blue, black, and silver works all that greatly. If the product were grayish/silver or clear, I think it would look nicer. I think the additional position for the smart cover + this cover's magnet is pretty easy to use once you get the hang of how it needs to be folded (opposite folding of how you normally use the smart cover). But if I had a choice I would not have the magnets and have it be lighter, because the smartcover works fine with the positions that it allows, and I don't need some marketing gimmick in this product that allows me a different way to prop it up which is exactly the same viewing angle that the smart cover allows anyways. So why give me two different ways to do the same thing when I don't need it and it makes it heavier. Is it a good product? Yes. Would I buy it again at $40? No.

    A few ideas for Apple:

    Posted .

For those who want to buy this product, I would encourage them. This product, I feel, is worth the investment. An iPad protection plan seemed superfluous for my needs, but a case is a must have. The Incase is a good choice with the Smart Cover, and is thick enough to protect my iPad 2. The design is simple enough. However, it covers up the speaker a little too much, so I turn over my iPad when listening to music. The case is not hard to get off. All one needs to do is snap off the two smaller corners. I refrain from doing so, as there are few times that this is necessary, and I fear the corners will wear down. Addressing the problem I hear and read most: the metal strips. I have had my iPad since Febuary 18. The metal strip first bent on March 12, only 23 days after purchase. I had, in that time, used my iPad at least four times a day on average. Now, after almost two weeks, I am still trying to tollerate this problem. At the current moment, whenever I flip the Apple Smart Cover off the back, the farthest metal strip goes with it. I, along with many other customers I know, have had the same problem with these strips. The glue, I have heard, melts easily and does not stick to plastic as well as it should for the cost of the Incase. Furthermore, the strips are fine when still attached, but too easy to bend, which may be a contributing factor to how well they stay on. My first chance, I am going over to Best Buy and getting it replaced. On the way home, I will also pick up some Gorilla Glue, or some other type of glue to make sure that the metal strip stays on. Ultimately, I believe that the Incase is a good investment. The only thing one should take into consideration: WAITING. These reviews, I hope, will get to the manufacturers, and they may soon find a solution to any problems. I have faith that the new Incase, (or other Smart Cover compatible case), will come out soon. Until then, I recommend waiting on this investment. When the new one comes out, one can be even more glad when they have the magnetic feature that doesn't break. Thank you for reading this, and I hope that this review has aided those in consideration of purchasing the Incase.

    Great idea, questionable quality

    Posted .

I bought this case for my fiance to protect her iPad 2. I knew that she'd love it for the fact that it had a rubbery feel and would stabilize her grip on the iPad. I was correct, she did love it for that but also for the two metal strips on the back that hold the SMart Cover in place when fully open plus it provides a 2nd position for standing/inclining the iPad. As many have alluded to, we are on our 2nd case in 3-months and it's due to the quality of materials/design. First the metal strip came off and then case corner broke in the first 45-days. She returned it to Best Buy, and it was swapped no problem. Within a couple weeks, a metal strip came off it as well. I've remedied that with Gorilla glue and it's held so far, three weeks and counting. I would recommend the case with the limited knowledge I have that there is no other snap-on case with the retaining strips on the back. If there is, take a serious look at it because these will come off without a doubt.

    Good- At first...

A nice thin, light back cover for the Ipad. Even worked pretty well with my new Ipad 3. The problem came over a couple of weeks of use and the best feature of the cover pretty much became invalid! The back magnet came right off! And it was during normal use! I attempted to close the smart cover and it took the magnet right off. Upon further inspection, I noticed it was only attached with some glue and that the 2nd one was loose too! Should be redesigned and more firmly built into the back.

    Mixed feelings

    Posted .

I bought my first Incase when I bought my first iPad2 and it performed flawlessly even sacrificing itself when my iPad fell off the counter breaking the corner from the cover. I immediately replaced it with the exact same model of cover and that's when the trouble started... The metal strips on the back of the cover that the Smartcover magnetizes to came off the cover. I even had purchased another white case and Smartcover when I bought my wife her iPad as a gift. Now I look the fool after extolling the virtues of these covers. I have since super-glued the metal strips into the plastic although they became hopelessly bent after falling out. I'll be writing the manufacturer as well in hopes they can at least fix the problem from the factory. I really like this case in combination with the Smartcover and as I said, it saved me a lot off money when my iPad fell.

    Great case for iPad2 back

    Posted .

This snap on case for the back of the iPad2 works great. It works very well with the smart cover for total coverage with low profile and light weight. It still allows magnetic coverage for the smart cover on the back to prop up the iPad for typing and viewing. It doesn't wrap all the way around. When holding iPad2 with the home button on the bottom, it wraps around the left and right and around all four corners. It also has cut outs for the camera and the volume controls. It has a smooth, slick, rubber-like feel but it has not slipped off of anything and it's very comfortable on the hands when carrying. It also doesn't show any dirt or scuffs. Overall, if you are looking for a low profile back case to fit with the smart cover I highly recommend this one. Installation was a breeze as well. Just unwrap and snap. As simple as can be for the beginner into the notepad world.

    Should've been original equipment!

    Posted .

By that I mean that it makes such perfect sense and performs so well, that it is surprising it's not an Apple Accessory. If I were in charge of marketing and product packaging, these and the Apple Smart Covers would be included with every iPad 2. Yes, it's that good. One of the best features is the ability to add a third viewing angle, which I find the most comfortable, use the most, and would not have available without the functionality of this snap case. This is achieved by means of a magnet built smoothly into the back of the case. The Apple Smart Cover magnetically adheres to that in such a way as to elevate the top of the screen about twice as far as the low position using the Smart Cover alone. I am taller than average, about 6'1", and I find this the perfect position when using the iPad at a table or desk. Oh, and I wear bifocals. I bought this for the protection; the extra position was just a bonus. Having used it for about a month now, I would buy it again if it offered no protection at all, only the improved positioning of the screen. That said, it does offer excellent protection when installed with the smart cover and presents a congruent, minimalist package one could easily assume to be exactly what came out of the Apple box.

I used it for the new Ipad

    Posted .

I bought it because it was the only back cover that could fit the New Ipad, unfortunately it was not so easy to fit. I tried it on an Ipad 2 and it fits perfectly. I liked the fact that it had magnets in the back to hold the covers by Apple. The problem is that after two months of usage the magnets started to unglued themselves and now it has become a regular plastic cover. Therefore I wrote a 3 stars, you pay for the magnets and you get the plastic only after two months.

Designed to work with Apple's Smart Cover

    Posted .

This cover for the back of the iPad (designed for the iPad2, and works great with my new iPad) is light and slim protection for the iPad's back case. It comes with two magnetic strips installed. The lower one holds the Smart Cover in place when the iPad is in use, and the upper one allows the Smart Cover to form a different, very usable "stand" for using the iPad on a desk or table to read or surf the net. The lower magnet fell out after a month when the glue failed, and it was replaced quickly without fuss by the Customer Service folks at my local Best Buy store. The second one seems to have the magnet more securely glued in place.

    Good, but some essential problems

    Posted .

The case is great. It fits perfectly and snug. It isn't bulky and it is easy to grip. The only problem I have experienced with the case is that one of the magnet strips on the back comes off. I have had it for about a month. I just put the magnet back in the slot, but it is quite sticky. So if you don't realize it came off you could get dust or hair in it, which could become a sticky mess.

    Great, except...

I like the smart cover compatibility. The flexible magnet placement is nice too. The problem is the magnet glue, whatever is holding them in place. Didn't last very long, this is my second unit. Won't purchase again if the issue returns. Very durable, good protection.

    Better have superglue on hand!

    Posted .

After using this Incase Ipad accessory for a few weeks, one of the magnetic strips started coming off. The Apple Smart cover is magnetic, so after having been folded back onto the Incase, and then opened, it would pull off one of the strips. The Incase company wanted me to fill out a return form and ship it back. Since I felt that was too much trouble, I used Superglue. So far that is holding the strip in place. They did not answer my question as to whether this is a common problem, or mine was defective.

    Disappointing

    Posted .

I've had this case 7 months and the magnets are starting to pop out when I flip the smart cover closed. This product is not inexpensive, so this design flaw is unacceptable. I also thought that when pitting the Incase cover on, the plastic needed to stretch (almost to the cracking point). I won't purchase again, and I'm sorry I wasted $40.

Works great with the I pad smart cover

    Posted .

This is made to work perfectly with the Ipad smart cover. It offers several positions via two magnet strips, and does not interfear with the camera. It would have received 5 stars but i had to take mine in because the thin magnet fell off within a month! I was able to trade it in, but I'm afraid the new one will do the same. (My sister and Dad have the same cover and have had no trouble.)

    Excellent Product

    Posted .

I can't understand any negative reviews of this products. It is exactly as it is described and a bit more. Durable, thin and really keeps the iPad concept in tack. Other cases are about the case. This one is about the iPad. The more... magnets on back of case work with the smart cover to give addtional attachment points that allow for a couple of different iPad postions including one very nice desk top angle. You just spent $500+ for an iPad... buy the right case.

    Amazing case

    Posted .

This is the perfect slim back shield for the iPad 2 with a smart cover. It has magnets to hold the smart cover flush against the ipad when it is open, and you can also use them for an additional prop angle. The material is a rubberized plastic and is both durable and grippy. It is very stylish and doesn't add much thickness to the ipad while providing protection and actually increasing the functionality of the smart cover.

    nice idea

I like having the security of not denting the iPad when I drop it, and using the magnetic iPad cover... the only problem I have with this is that it almost doubles the weight of the device.

    Awesome case for iPad

    Posted .

This case is great for protecting the iPad. It snaps on and works extremely well with the Apple Smart Cover. The case has magnetic strips on the back to hold the smart cover open while you are using the iPad. As other reviewers have stated, I don't really find that it adds to much weight to the device. The back of the iPad is extremely scratch-prone so I would suggest getting a cover for the back of the device that you just paid $800 for. Installation is extremely simple and quick, it just snaps into place. The openings are large so you can leave the cover in place to connect your charger ( which is what I do) the sides are covered (except the side where the volume control is-it has a cut-out for easy access to the volume control. The back is completely covered except there is a hole where the camera is located. This is an awesome case, and I would definitely buy it again.
