The movie was great. The video quality is pretty good there is some layer of grain but I wasn't impress with the DTS X sound mix. Now I haven't watch the movie in decades and back then I watched on laserdisc and it sounded better in THX then DTS X. Despite on what I said, I would still advise on getting the movie.

Nothing serious here. Just a larger than life epic series of big screen, chase scenes battles....heroes... Father son, boy, friend girl friend, lots of relationships in search of the truth.... and crazy scientists.. Main and minor actors are very good... Compelling.... And lots of inside jokes and humor with reference to earlier Sci fi classics... Many memorable lines. Has a cult film feel to it. Great epic final battle. Will man survive?

This is a straight classic from the 90s. It is one of those movies that you can watch at least once or maybe twice a year when it comes on TV. By having it on Blu-ray, you are able to watch it anytime you want in high definition. This will be a movie collector's favorite for many years to come.

Not a Will Smith fan but this Sci-Fi classic look and sounds incredible in 4K. Plus I like it because it's VERY Pro-America which is something you just don't see anymore in movies

Truth be told, this is the finest Independence Day has ever looked! However, keep this in mind, it's a 20 year old film. It's not going to be night and day, even on the 4K Blu-ray format. One of the most successful American films of all time. A 90's cultural impact classic, and mostly because WiIll smith is simply the man. Help from Vivica A Fox, Jeff Goldblum, and Bill Pullman helped make this movie what it is today. Super recommended, especially the blu ray/steelbook. Cool feel to it. A+

The movie carried forward the brave fight spirit when human being facing out of earth evil power invasion. From both President to professional military pilot to civilian joint force together, overcome difficulties, finally defeated the looks like undefeatable enemies. Praise positive energy. Very good!

Upgrading from the DVD I've had forever, it's miles better. Maybe not the cleanest 4K transfer I've seen, but I'm pretty happy. Darker scenes do tend to have a bit of grain, but I'm certain that was on the original print. Lots of great bonus features, plus two versions of the film. Well worth the price.

When affordable, I go through my movie collection and upgrade them from DVD to Bluray to take advantage of the higher definition presented from the format. This is no exception, and it really shines in a higher quality! You won't be disappointed, everything is so crisp and clear. Now to upgrade my tv!

Independence Day is a Sci-fi movie. Aliens invade earth and most defend the planet from intruders with superior weapons. Plot and story lines are well thought out, excellent flowing story. It's a great addition to your video \ cd collection! ! ! ! !

You know whether you like the movie itself- so I'll just comment on the PQ and AQ- PQ is fantastic! I've (embarrassingly) owned just about every version of this video on home video and I can say it looks great. AQ- the disc is actually 5.1 and not 7.1 as the cover indicates. So that's disappointing, but the sound is still really good. Bonus extended version- I don't recommend the extended version of the film, but it's here if you want to see it.

This transfer isn't bad. The sound track is pretty good. If you don't own it, it's worth picking up on this format.

Got this on sale on Black Friday and I originally saw this when it first came out. Can't believe that I'm just know owning it on physical media. Great movie that defined groundbreaking SFX.

The movie has so many good lines and the cast clearly enjoyed creating the atmosphere and world they portrayed. Great plot and it’s a classic that needs a 20th anniversary edition. Glad to have a Steelbook copy with newly restored Extended/Theater cuts and 30m documentary

We love this movie and upgraded to the 4K UltraHD but we did not notice a significant change over the BluRay.

I probably watched this too many time for the first 2-3 years after it came out and then haven't watched it in years. When the new one came out, I decide to watch it again. It still stands up all these years later and I like all the extra features. The steelbook is also very cool.

In my previous review of the film I confuse the second part of the first what I wanted to say in this film it’s interesting how they came up with an idea to give the ship a virus I cold, that was clever.

The 4K version of this classic movie is excellent. I have always enjoyed this movie and now in 4K it is hard to beat. I highly recommend it! As Will Smith said "I've got to get me one of these!"

There are so many plot holes, it is impossible to plug them all. But as a rock 'em sock 'em popcorn film, this is hard to beat. So many copies have tried to emulate this film, and so few have even come close. The steelbook is cool and the film is cool if you let it. If you don't dig this film, then you aren't buying the steelbook. Despite it's flaws, you will have a good time. What else can you expect from a movie?
